Can a wrong number, a not-so-practical joke, and two parent-trapping teens turn these enemies into lovers?

Jenna
After the most humiliating divorce in the history of humiliating divorces, dating is at the bottom of my to-do list.

Where do forty-something single moms even meet men?

Between work and chauffeuring my daughter to the dance studio, I don’t have the time, or the energy, to date. The only single guy I see regularly is my archenemy at the dance studio...

And trust me, he is un-dateable.

Adam Martinez is an arrogant jerk of a man-child who refuses to take anything seriously.

So when my bestie sets me up with one of her co-workers, I agree. Unfortunately, the day of my first date in six years is a complete disaster, and I have to cancel…

In the worst way possible, via text message.

Imagine my surprise when he responds, and we hit it off.

Adam

I’ve spent the last three years grieving my wife and raising two heartbroken kids. I haven’t had time to breathe, let alone think about dating.

Besides, the only women I interact with on a regular basis are the moms at my daughter’s dance studio. And they freaking scare me. Seriously, I’d rather be alone forever than deal with soap opera level drama on the daily.

Case in point, Jenna Bennett. I don’t know what I’ve done to tick her off, but she’s made it her personal mission to snack-shame me. So what if I feed my kids food that isn’t organic, gluten -free, sugar-free, taste-free cardboard? Since when did a little sugar hurt anyone?

So when Jenna mistakenly sends me a text cancelling a date, I see my opportunity to have a little fun with the uptight realtor.

It turns out, the joke’s on me.

Because I never dreamed I’d fall in love with her.

Dad Habits is a full-length enemies-to-lovers romance filled with technology fails, dance-mama-drama, steaming hot texts, an adorable seven-year-old, and two teenaged girls, determined to become stepsisters.

This is book 3 in the Single Dads Gone Wild Series. Each one can be read as a standalone. Happily Ever After guaranteed!

This was more of a romantic comedy for me. The way Jenna and Adam got close was just hilarious. To some people, it means trust is broken, but to me, I think it’s really romantic. They are enemies, but the attraction is just below the surface until a mistaken identity happens. The writing was on point, and the characters were great. I looked forward to more of this author’s works.

This book is part of the Single Das Gone Wild series and the main characters are Jenna Bennett and Adam Martinez. Both are single parents, Adam after losing his wife three years before, leaving him with a daughter Maya (17) and son Miguel (7), whilst Jenna went through a very nasty divorce five years ago, after she and her daughter Olivia (17), walked in on her husband having sex with another woman, Pam, who he then went on to marry. Unfortunately for Jenna, Pam’s daughter Priscilla goes to the same dance studio as Olivia and Maya, so she has to put up with all the gossip and nasty comments from Pam about her wonderful marriage and new baby son with Olivia’s ex-husband! Jenna tries to make nutritious snacks for the girls and has problems with Adam being things like cupcakes for the dance team, whenever it is his turn. He also seems to flirt with every female around him, except for her, and is her archenemy. Neither have been on any sort of dates, since their marriages ended in such different ways. Losing his wife, stopped Adam from covering wars as a photojournalist, and having to redefine his work to be there for his kids. He was lucky to have a friend pull him into doing work at the film studio and this led to him being a popular portrait photographer and now fully booked all the time.
Jenna works as a real estate agent, but still struggles somewhat to pay the bills, depending on what commissions she has earned each month. Her ex-husband is supposed to help pay for their daughter’s dance classes and also her college studies, but it seems his new wife, Pam, wants that agreement which was part of their divorce settlement to end, saying he needs to concentrate on their new baby and her older daughter, which all costs them enough as it is! Both Adam and Jenna are dance parents, with both their daughters going to classes and extra practices most days, as each is hoping to get into a prestigious dance school in New York, with their auditions coming shortly. Jenna has been set up by her friend Merilee with a man called Adam, who is a lawyer and was supposed to finally go on an actual blind date at last, after exchanging numerous texts and one call. After a disaster of a house showing, with a flood and a broken phone, then rushing to get to the dance studio, she wants to cancel her date. All her contacts are gone from her new phone and she uses a number written down in her office on a scrap of paper, believing it was the Adam she is supposed to be dating. What she doesn’t realise, is that it is in fact her fellow dance parent, Adam, father of Maya.
Jenna turns up late to the dance studio, after taking a nap, only to find that Adam has taken his daughter and hers home, after her text seemed to say she couldn’t make it. He took that as she couldn’t make it to pick up Olivia and can’t understand how mad she is when she arrives at his house to pick up her daughter! When she texts him again later on, he realises that she has texted the wrong number, but decides to have a bit of fun, especially after he found her so attractive when she was clearly angry at him! They soon get into a comfortable relationship of swopping texts and asking each other about just about everything. At the same time, first his son, then his daughter, asked him when he was ever going to start dating again. Olivia and Maya decide to set up a Parent Trap, thinking it is time for their parents to date and that they both seem to be looking at each other as if they secretly like each other, even if they deny it. Adam wants to come clean, but as time goes on, that gets harder and harder to do. He has already lied about not being able to meet her, then also about not video chatting, just texting and now finally calling each other. Life seems to get in the way of them actually meeting for a dinner date, while their kids have easily cottoned onto their feelings for each other, no matter how much they seemed to hate each other to begin with. The girls step up their action after Adam gets caught out by Maya and has to confess what he has done and the whole truth about what he has done. The girls try to force the truth to be revealed, but it is going to be messy and Jenna may well react badly, when she finds out the truth. He has realised he has actually fallen in love with her and she has realised she doesn’t hate Adam anymore! But knowing that Adam had been lying to her for weeks, is a bitter pill to swallow. He has a lot of forgiveness to ask for, but it is hard to trust someone after already being hurt so badly. There will be a HEA ending, but they will both have to work for what they truly want from life and what will make them and their kids happy. A nice romcom along the same lines as previous books in the series, but still individual and fun to read, with family dynamics and dramas to contend with. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Ok

This was a mildly entertaining story, but just that. There were inconsistencies that frankly took me out of the story. Any decent editor would've caught and corrected these, so I give this 3 stars at best.

++++ POSSIBLE SPOILERS ++++

When they decided to go back to their hotel room together, they went to Jenna's room - he asked where her key was, she said her back pocket. So her room. They are hot and heavy and he got a condom from his wallet. It jumps to waking the next morning after having sex all night, and again in the shower. Just how many condoms did he HAVE in his wallet? Then she rushed to get dressed and out the door to meet and chaperone the girls (group of dancers at competition). Where did her change of clothes come from if she wasn't in her room? Where did all the condoms magically appear from if he pulled the first one out of his wallet? It's as if it's his room. Then he stays there while she leaves letting the door close behind her, and he stays in the room! They have two separate rooms but this just morphed from one to another. So many things.
Also, Jenna and Adam were texting in secret, only the two of them knew. But out of nowhere, Maya lets Olivia know their parents are texting each other. Does she suddenly have ESP?
And all this "Parent Trap" the girls kept texting and telling each other they were doing - they weren't even anywhere near Parent Trapping, only talked about it. Only when the truth came out and Jenna found out it was "that Adam", the girls planned the fake team lunch meeting at the restaurant, which brought both parents together of their doing. Only once before kinda got them together with her little brother to all go get ice cream together after the girl's dance practice. This was all they did.
These were very distracting issues the whole story, all the totally avoidable inconsistencies that a quick proofread, not to mention even a weak editor, could've easily fixed and rescued this story. For me anyway.
I made myself finish it, I did like Jenna and Olivia, Adam, Maya and Miguel - who was the best character in this book IMO. Hopefully other books in this series will be better.

Loving the Enemy . . .

Jenna Bennett met a client to look through a house. They had spent months trying to find something Amy would like, and this one seemed the most likely. The commission would put Jenna right where she needed to be financially. The entire place was perfect, until she showed her the stairs – built on the side of a cliff – that led down to a private beach. The stairs were very steep, with 3 landings before you reached the sand. And Amy didn’t like heights. They went back to the lovely kitchen, and they were about to arrange for Hudson to come see it when the kitchen pipes burst and flooded everything. Well, she’ll start looking for another tomorrow. Before she got out of the kitchen, she dropped her cell phone into the puddle on the floor and it was no longer working. Maybe her blind date tonight would be amazing?

Stopping to get the phone fixed, Jenna was told it was ruined and she had to get another. The computer glitched and apparently her data was lost rather than transferred to the new phone. So her contacts were all gone! Running late to the dance studio, the healthy snacks she baked for everyone had scattered all over the back seat. Some could be rescued, but many were crumbled into tiny pieces. She grabbed what she could and spun around, running right into a hard chest. Adam Martinez was grinning down at her. He was such a jerk! Even worse, he flirts with every woman he sees, except for Jenna.

When Jenna’s friend sets her up for a blind date, she decides she has to cancel. She sent the man a text and the two of them enjoyed the conversation and banter. Jenna doesn’t know she is texting with Adam, but he knows it is Jenna and has some fun flirting with her. He keeps wanting to tell her his identity, but he doesn’t want to stop their fun interactions. Little does he know that their daughters think they make a very good couple and would love to become sisters. Will their plans succeed?

This book is funny, entertaining and delightful. The characters and all their quirks, flaws and attitudes are fascinating and true-to-life. Jenna and Adam are both parents of teenage girls who are aspiring to be professional dancers. Their frequent encounters seem more like clashes as they bicker or snark at each other. Their daughters, however, are the best of friends who really want to be sisters and have been conspiring to get their parents together. Jenna is divorced and is finally ready to date again. Adam is a widower who has dedicated his time to his job and raising his daughter and son, though his kids are hinting that it may be time for him to start dating. Adam is also the photographer for his daughter’s dance team and knows most of the dance moms. He doesn’t know why Jenna is so hostile, though he does tease and rile up sometimes too.

On a day of catastrophe after another, Jenna tries to text her would be date, another guy named Adam, to cancel and apologize, ends up texting Adam instead. He doesn’t let her know that she is texting the wrong person and they continue to text. The texting gives him glimpses into another side of Jenna, one that is more approachable, a bit vulnerable and very likeable. The texting becomes a life line for both of them, something to look forward to and to be excited about. Can you fall in love with someone you have only texted and never met? The rest of their story is just as entertaining, filled with some revelations, mishaps, matchmaking and some self discovery leading to a wonderful conclusion.

This is a series I’m truly enjoying! The characters are all parents and trying to juggle their everyday lives - parenting, dating after divorce or the loss and f a spouse, and work demands. I love how true to life their situations are even if their lives or standard of living is a little different than average.

Jenna and Adam were fantastic. Their texting relationship made a big difference in each of them before they even meet in real life. Adam’s fear of being rejected by Jenna just because it was him (Dance Douche) made his behavior (hiding his identity from her and pretending to be a different Adam)a little more acceptable for me.

Jenna was definitely uptight and finding out why she was this way tugged a my heart. It was hard to hear her describe being on the outside of the dance mom group and the subject of gossip, meanwhile Priscilla was accepted by these people. Ugh! I so wanted to see karma serve Priscilla a big public comeuppance, but I will accept the ‘something’ that happens to her.

The fact Olivia and Maya were so clued into their parents texting was great. These teen girls really wanted to be sisters and their parents to be happy. So sweet. Little Miguel was a charmer like his dad!

I think this book was my favorite in the series so far, but I adored the scene where Adam sought advice from Hudson. Even though their story has some parallels, secret identity communicating with their lady, it was still fresh and sun storytelling.

Looking forward to the next book in the series. I’m becoming a big fan of the author with this series!

Jenna is a realtor and has been trying for months to find a home for her friend and client Amy. When she thinks that she has found the perfect place a pipe bursts and water explodes over her. She rushes to the dance studio for her daughter and runs into Adam another parent. Sparks fly between them. Adam is stunned by Jenna because she's not in the perfect condition she usually is, and it draws him to her. Jenna's phone gets damage from the water, and she gets a new one but lost all of her contacts. She was supposed to go out with an Adam that night but wanted to cancel. However, she messages the wrong Adam. Things sets a situation of a catfishing in a sense. Because Adam is drawn to her and pretends to be the other Adam to continue to talk to her. hat will happen if Jenna finds out about who she is really talking to? Can Adam find a way to fix things?

This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. This is a book for any book lover to enjoy.

This is book 3 in the series and it easily stands alone and is my new favorite. Its an enemies to lovers single dad romance with a divorced single mom and both have daughters the same age who are best friends. The teens are a big part of the story and I really enjoyed how close they are and trusted in this story.

Adam and Jenna have known each other for years and have never gotten along, in fact they constantly bicker and argue but their daughters are best friends. Jenna's friend sets her up on a blind date with an attorney named Adam and when Jenna's phone dies and she has to find the dates number to text him a cancellation, she by mistake texts Adam. He is intrigued and he starts a text relationship with her while she thinks its the attorney Adam and not her daughters best friends dad.

This was a lot of fun and I really loved both Adam and Jenna. I just wish I could have seen more parts of them dating in person but I totally loved all their text messages and how happy they made each other.

Another Good One

I was surprised at how much I liked this one. I usually don't care for stories that are founded on a lie... but this one more than worked for me.

I liked Adam right away...handsome widower, relentless flirt, cool dad, and great sense of humor (even if it sometimes was on par with his 7-y.o. son).

I grew to like Jenna rather quickly. She came off as a know-it-all perfectionist and all around stick in the mud, but she had reasons for her behavior.

I liked their respective daughters--Adam's daughter Maya and Jenna's daughter Olivia. It was cute to watch these best friends worked hard to "parent-trap" Adam and Jenna.

In addition to tugging on the heart strings, this one actually had a nice little bit of drama with a slightly unexpected twist. As far as the "steam factor," I'll just say that these two forty-somethings put technology to really good use!

I can't wait to read Merilee's book!

Adams has had a eye for Jenna for a while, but Jenna can not stand him. Their daughters Maya and Olivia have a plan to get them together, but can they? Jenna is having a bad day and has to get a new phone and the sale person did not get her contact moved over. She find a piece of paper that has the letter A so she cancel her blind date. But unknown to her it is not the right Adams. Enjoy as they become friend and fall in love with each other but she does not know it the Adams she can not stand. Read and go on the ride as they be come each other friend to have it blow up in their face and what can happen.

REVIEW
I am really enjoying the books in this series.
Full of comedy, and sizzling romance.
Jenna wants to make this house sell, it would set her up financially and give a big boost to her profession.
She is a single mom and has a daughter who loves dance, and it's costly.
And she is a stickler for healthy.

Adam is a single dad, no he doesn't push junk food but he doesn't see anything wrong with his kids having it at times.
Adam has known Jenna for a very long time, and their daughters are all best friends. Can a blind date lead to so much more for these two?

Can't wait to read the next story...

Jenna and Adam are a mixed bag of story parts. We've got enemies to lovers, slow burn, mystery and just a touch of insta. I love how Adam tries so hard. I love how Jenna changes, grows and stretches into the person she was meant to be. She carries baggage from her ex. He carries his baggage of widowhood. Together they become stronger and more. Olivia and Maya are great. Miguel is a little hoot. The friends are interesting and add depth to the story. The dance school mystery adds the suspense element. Mark and Pam are douches and deserve what they get. Nice writing, good pacing and likeable characters round out this book.

This is a great story. It is an enemies to lovers story with a case of mistaken identity thrown in for good measure. Older single parents with no time to date or to find and meet people. They know each other from dance and he is going to have some fun with Jenna until he starts to fall for her. I love this series they are all entertaining and the characters are wonderful and have depth. This is a wonderful story and I liked the fact that Adam was going to have some fun with Jenna and turns out he fell for her instead.

Dad Habits by Kathryn M. Hearst

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am eating this series up so fast. I got this book a while a go and not knowing anything about this author and I wish I didn’t wait so long. They are so good.

Single parents whose daughters are bestfriends and they parent trap their parents. A lot of texting chats (which I love so much) and one "catfishing" the other. They fall hard for reach other before Jenna finds out the man she is texting isnt the Adam she thought it was.

Once she finds out all h$ll breaks loose but don’t worry the kids are on it with some help from someone close to them. GO DOWNLOAD this book and find out what happens. A lot of drama and angst in this book!

If you read the first two books of this series, you're in for a treat.
A lot of people from those ones will be there.

This book id about "the good" Adam and Jenna.
They both have a past of loosing their other half. Adam by an accident and Jenna by a divorce.

This is a great story.
Loved their online love and, like in the other books, the children. Really laughed out loud several times.

Jenna and Adam both experience a growth in their own way and loved it.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This love story has heartache, single parents, conflicts, humor, complications, misconceptions, passion and love. Adam and Jenna don't start off on the best of terms. Hidden behind their phones, they really get to know each finally. I liked their story, the way they interacted and their children. I thought it was a good addition to the series.

Adam Martinez is a widower with two children, Maya who is seventeen and aspiring dancer and Miguel who is seven. Before his wife died, he was a photojournalist, now a professional photographer. His daughter is friends with fellow dancer, Olivia. Olivia's mother, Jenna Bennett is a divorced and is a real estate agent.

The parents have not gotten along, always bickering, their daughters would like nothing better than to be sisters. They are determined to "parent trap" Adam and Jenna.

not bad, but points off for some extremely tired tropes

Jenna & Adam’s story is uneven, to say the least. Starts off as enemies to (mistaken identity) lovers, but quickly veers into soap opera territory. The absolute caricature of the mistress turned stepmother & her smitten with the H accomplice is nothing if not disappointing, as is the feckless, spineless ex-husband. Relying on these gross stereotypes is reductive and tedious. Based on the previous books in the series, I expected better from this author.

I was immediately immersed right back into this world and did not want to leave. I laughed and cried with these characters as they realized that they were falling in love with each other. Love will sneak up on you when you least expect it and in the weirdest places. There is also a mystery afoot as well that gets solved and crazy things that happens.

They are at odds with each other but when their meddling teenagers get together to get them together, they don't know what hit them! Emotional and Wonderful

The books in this series absolutely transport you into the characters lives, loves and heartbreaks, and Dad Habits is no exception. Adam and Jenna have the most mixed up, wonderful and supportive relationship, magical until it wasn’t, wonderful once it was again. I shed tears and felt my heart burst for these two, I was so invested in their story. These Single Dads Gone Wild books are always so good, I just know that when I pick one up it will be amazing.

This novel is the 3rd in a great series about single dad’s that can be read as standalone a but have interconnecting characters. This novel has an enemies to lovers feel and follows Adam and Jenna as they navigate a text gone wrong relationship. It is a cute novel that also contains 2 meddling teenagers and a hilarious group of mutual friends. It was a good read and I look forward to the next in the series!

Adam and Jenna

This book is amazing! It had me laughing, crying and wanting to knock some since into the Adam and Jenna. Their daughters are hilarious and their “parent trappings” ideas are so sweet. We also get to hear from other members of the Single Dads Gone Wild and the women in their lives. Have lots of tissues close and watch these to navigate dating and falling in love over age 40 with kids.

Fun read

This is the first book I've read by this author, and it was a fun sort of mistaken identity/enemies to lovers story. It can be read as a standalone, but there are characters and references to previous events that would be easier to understand if I'd read the first two books in the series. It was a good enough, easy enough read that I'll probably go back and read the others in the series.

Kathryn continues to impress with the third entry in the Single Dads Gone Wild series, and I know I sound like a broken record but this might be my favorite yet lol for this normally fantasy nerd to be so pulled into a romance series feels odd but then it's not just romance, there is a good amount of comedy mixed in and the story flows fast, can not recommend this one more.

Jenna and Adam

One divorced, single dance mom and a widowed, single dance dad of two get together in such a fun and unique way. It made me laugh. The humor and organic way they develop feelings for each other after years of not liking each other was such a pleasant surprise. This is a fun series. I am excited for the next book.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

This is a fun to read story, it is a standalone story with no cliffhangers. Single divorced mom, Jenna is a dance teacher and thoroughly dislikes Adam, widowed dad to her daughters best friend. They have an entertaining story that was well-written. All the characters including the children are really likable.

Cute read

This is almost an enemies to lovers... I loved the concept and the banter between the characters was fun. The parent trap element was cute. I just wanted some more answers towards the end. What happened to the dad/ex husband, did he ever repair his relationship with daughter?
