World: One Mortal World

Plot:
The MC Mercy is the Daughter of a local gang. Her father arranged for her to marry the rival gangs leader colt. At the rehearsal, Colt has her whole family murdered. She manages to escape and runs to the gang to runs the city, The Nobles. They agree to help her if she can prove she is worth helping. She wants revenge for her family, and wants colt dead.
They make her do some crazy things to prove her worth. But the main one is to catch the killer of the king Nobles right hand man. She dose but ends up kidnapped at the end by Colt.

My feelings:

I had the worst book hang over from a previous book, and had attempted to read 4 others before landing on this one which Pulled me out of my slump.

The book is captivating from the first few chapters. Its not as ruthless as I might normally like but its great for people looking to enter into this side of fiction. Its a reverse Harem, but it doesn’t lead into it in this book. So far she has only had sex with one and been touched by another. So be interesting to see when it finally leads into the good stuff.

Ok lets talk about the main MCs:

Mercy, I feel like she is sold a little short at the beginning. Fainting after being nicked by a bullet. But then shows off her parksore skills and chops up body and enjoys it.
I think she is a lot stronger then we think. Her father has clearly trained her better then we think. Im glad she was given a weekness. I was thinking she was going to get through everything the boys gave her without any issues.

Kaige, oh you are my book Boyfriend in this book from the start. I love the trigger happy type. I love how you gave in first to her. I also love how you crumbled with just one sexual encounter. Clearly a softy.

Rowan, oh how I wanna know your past. Why did you leave mercy when you were kids?? I love how they gave her an ex that she was madly in love with in the mix. Clearly once we find out why he left we are gonna love him, so im interested to see why. I feel like he is a lot softer then we think, clearly he will crumble for her without any hesitation.

Gideon, We didn’t get a big insight into this one. We do know he is the tech side of it, don’t go on missions cause he has a lung issue and cannot breath properly, but im interested to see what he has. Wonder if he is ruthless or just a softy as well. I hope he is a Dom in the bedroom. I feel like we don’t have one yet in the group.

Wylder, hmmmmm I think you might be my next book boyfriend in book 2. We haven’t had a lot of insight into you yet. But I feel like we have lot to find out. I think with Ezra (Dad) home we will get Into the good stuff now. I think maybe your dad is a prick and that you will bond over bad dads with Mercy. But well see. I think your a softy under it all, but with a few kinks thrown in. Lets see.

“Fat chance of that,” she muttered, but right then, I knew I was going to find a way to have her.”

World: One Mortal World

Plot:
Book 2 of this series starts off with the MC being kidnapped while out running. Colt takes her to a warehouse and has her tortured by a lackie. She managed to get away and runs into the boys who are looking for her. They manage to find her cause Gideon puts trackers into her bra. Ezra the head of the Nobles doesn’t like her and gives her jobs that can get her killed. When she doesn’t get killed on these jobs he then tries to set her up to get rid of her. The book ends with the boys and her going into a gun fight against Colt. Mercy kills colt and they all get out alive. While they are celebrating there win, a young kid turns up on the door step with a tablet. On it is a video of the man who has been leaving the “gifts” for Mercy and tells Ezra he is gonna take over the whole Paradise.

My feelings:

With book 1 getting me out of my slump, I went into book 2 with high hopes. Boy did it deliver. I loved the fighting, sexual tension and sets up for book 3. Its a slow burn so if you want instant gratification this isn’t for you.

Ok lets talk about the main MCs:

Mercy, ohhh now the juicy stuff is showing. Im so glad she has now had sex with them all (except Rowan). The spicy chapters are good, not as spicy as im used to but good non the less.
I do hope Mercy develops a bit more. I need more fire and spice from her. I want her to grow more into the head of her old Gang and be ruthless.

Kaige, Dude tou just get softer and softer. Why do all the big men turn into soft men when they get the girl? He has no issues putting a bullet into someone’s head, but turns to putty with her. I need little bit of fire from this one. Hopefully book three holds that for him.

Rowan, I knew you didnt leave her for no reason. So glad you told her why. But now I can see this soft caring man and no longer a killer. I need him to be more mean and ruthless in book 3. I feel like now she knows the truth and you are all happy with saying she is one of you but the spice and means is just all gone. I liked the enemies to lovers thing but happened to quick.

Gideon, I knew this one had something in the bag. Didn’t turn out to be a Dom but close enough. I do hope we get more of this one in book 3. I liked him. The quiet type is always the best type. Little bit annoyed he is such a pussy but cause of his lungs. I would like more killer vibes out of him.

Wylder, yerp book BF for book 2. I knew it. I like him. Withdrawn, but intense. I know why he is mean to her but now that we know why I hope that he doesn’t get all soft and nice. I like my men with a cruel mean streak. I hope he also kills his father who is clearly a dick. I do hope we get a nice dm chapter with him and Mercy.

“There was a wild urgency in his green eyes. “You’re mine,” he snarled. “Mine.”

Review for book 3.

World: One Mortal World

Plot:
Book 3 takes off with Mercy being kicked out of the Noble house by Ezra who thinks she is the reason bad shit keeps happening. The boys manage to hid her in one of the properties they own around the bend. Xavier keeps coking for her, doesn’t seem to matter where she hides he keeps finding her. They have a few face to face run ins with him. Ezra tells Wylder he must kill mercy if he wants to be the heir still. But he doesn’t. They put into place a plan to infiltrate Xavier but Gideon managed to get caught in the process. They manage to get him back and Wylder confronts his dad. Only to have his older brother dropped of dead on his door step. The book ends with them all being shot with darts that knock them out.

My feelings:

Soooooo I wasn’t as invested into book 3 as I thought I would be. It did have few more spicy chapters which was good and she finally has sex with all of them separately and then all together, finally admitting they are all in it together.

Ok lets talk about the main MCs:

Mercy yes she has gotten more ruthless. She is killing people, using her gun, stabbing etc. I wanted her to take on the role of queen of the Klaws sooooo badly and she has! Lets see if she can be more then this in the last book.

Kaige, oh my. His back story is horrible:( He has a switch that sets him off, and I found him more angry in this book then the rest. I liked it. I like him trigger happy. And I like that he is soft to mercy. I can’t wait to see if he can be more int he last book.

Rowan, I knew you would be the softest of the lot. You can tell he is in love with mercy without he whole series. I am glad you get to see his crazy side he has hid from her in this one. But you can tell he is better with words then crazy.

Gideon, oh I love my dark Knight. I do wish he hadn’t been written to be such a wimp but. I know he has lung issues, but when he gets involved in things he just turns into a liability they have to look after. I think he would be better written to stay in the van the whole time. He annoys me when he gets in the way. Tech nerds are hot to!

Wylder, Still my book boyfriend for book 3. I like his crazy side. I hope for a bit more crazy in book 4. I know I like my men borderline Psychotic and this series is a lot softer then im used to, but I feel like he could have been a but more crazy then he was written. He is the heir. He needs to be a bit insane. Right?

“Someone was singing an off-key version of “Hotel California” in a thin, raspy voice that sounded an awful lot like the guy I was looking for. Despite the odds we were up against and the blood already spilled, my lips twitched with a smile.”

World: One Mortal World

Plot:
Book 4 takes off with them waking up in a place with a man who says he is part of an higher power group who run everything and everyone. He gives them 1 week to get rid of the gangs int he town before eh steps in and levels them all. They agree and stage many interactions with the enemy. Xavier is so unhinged with his obsession with Mercy he keeps showing to kill her. She finds out he was in love with her mum, and cause her mum was killed by her dad he blames her for it. In the last attempt they use the bosses son to secure the enemy’s withdrawal from the city. Xavier refuses to leave and goes on rampage, they end up killing him. When they get back to mansion Ezra loses his shit and tires to kill Mercy. Mercy and Wylder both shoot him dead at the same time. Wylder takes over at the head of the nobles and Mercy becomes the Queen of the Claws in the bend.

My feelings:

So this book finished so quickly I didn’t know what to do. There was so much action for 80% of it, then they kill Xavier and then Ezra then bam book is over. No HEA or anything to suggest much at all. I felt like I needed better round up in the end there. Like maybe 1 year later with her happy and living with them all?? Or not together anymore or something. I felt the ending sucked. All the action was great! I loved that side of it all, but the ending just left me wanting a hell of a lot more.

“I opened the urn’s lid and shook the gray dust of my father’s ashes into the base of the pit. Then I helped Jenner heave the tub closer. Together, we poured the cement into the hollow. The gray sludge swallowed up my father’s last remains and crept up the sides of the pit. We had a little more than enough to fill it to the lip where the slab would sit. The other men shoved the slab back into place where it would bind with the new cement. Then Jenner sealed the edges with the last few dribbles from the tub. He smoothed the stuff out with a scraper, and just like that, the floor looked seamless, as if there’d never been anything cut out of it.”

Not worth the time

I knew I was getting a gang/mafia type revenge story so I expected violence and intrigue. The whole series is nothing but violence with some sex thrown in, but it's so cheesy and over-the-top that it comes across as just silliness.

Crooked Paradise: The Complete Series by Eva Chance and Harlow King is an enemies-to-lovers gang romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Ava Lucas and J.F. Harding.

This is the first series of Eva and Harlow's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I couldn't help but binge a book a day. I was hooked and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Mercy, Wylder, Kaige, Gideon, and Rowan as the series progressed. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of view throughout the books. It really brought the story to life.

Ava Lucas and J.F. Harding did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

If you have the chance, I will highly recommend getting the box set in print/eBook to get the exclusive bonus epilogue that is set three years later. It was a great addition to their story and a great set up for Vigilante Kings series that will be featuring Beckett.

I would recommend this series if you like enemies-to-lover romance, contemporary romance, reverse harem romances or gang romances.

Mafia RH with lots of action and suspense.
Different villains, but the same plot.
All the mc's had a tragic backstory and fell in love with each other.
They will now live HEA.

Mercy and her men!

I loved Mercy and her men! Mercy is a tough bad *** she strong and confident. I love how even though all her life she was told she wasn't enough she still rose above and was a better leader than her dad ever was. The guys we such a great mix of brains and brawn. All over protective and all smitten. I love her and Athenas relationship and I absolutely love Beckett! I'm excited to read both of their books!

My overview on this series…
I have rated each part individually if you want to see why thought process throughout the book.

2.5/5⭐️

This series started off well, it had a great female lead who wasn’t bipolar with their morals or even moods. The boys were a bit blander but they were still interesting enough. The plot was building up really well and had you at the edge of your seats majority of the book but the end… it just gave up.

~ The Plot ~
As said above the books built up the series really well, I was reading each part within a day just wanting to find out what happened. The first book focused on introducing the world to you and the characters, how tough that life is, The Second book focused on the characters and their development, The third was enforcing the set up for the big ending and the final book? Set itself on fire and just fucking gave up.
I had high hopes for that final book but felt as if the author just was over it, it felt rushed, half assed and just plain boring. The big threats came to almost nothing and everything that went wrong sorted itself within a few chapters.
The action was always good to read, the way the author described it was great and you could easily see the scenes play out in your head, by the end of the series the scenes did feel a little bit repetitive but other then that the action scenes were good.

~ The Characters ~
Mercy, it’s been a while since I’ve read a book where the female main character didn’t annoy me somehow. Now in book one there is the catty petty side that does emerge with another certain female which really bugged me but that doesn’t last long. Other than that wee flaw she was pretty entertaining to read, I felt I was always on her side, she was fair and actually listened and asked before acting. She was refreshing to read. Towards the end of the series there isn’t much development and tend to repeat herself a lot but overall she was a good character.
Wylder, odd name but a cool way to spell it I accepted it (not that mercy was any better) out of all the boys Wylder was the only one who really pissed me off, and that could just be cause he was made to be that way but I felt like his character constantly bounced around, you didn’t know who or what mood you were getting and some of his choices really bugged me. His spice scenes were good tho I’ll give him that.
Kaige, again weird name. I spent majority of the book indifferent to him, he felt empty until about book 3? (I think) then things started to fall into place and he actually felt like a decent human being, I can definitely see people getting attached to him but he wasn’t my type.
Gideon, however this boy.. this man made a way into my cold shrivelled up heart. The caffeine addiction and lip ring were already beating down my walls but Gideon himself actually felt fleshed out as a character, he was unique and didn’t fall into just one category like the others. I was instantly dawn to him and loved his story any chapter in his pov instantly caught my attention, any scene he ran captured me, he was a beautifully written character that I hopefully won’t forget.
Rowan, this character I never could get attached to, he was always just there, just in the background and when he wasn’t his input to the scenes just felt empty. It’s almost as if the book was finished and then he was written in for the purpose of having a high school sweetheart and another number to add to the harem, any spice scene that had him he was always just a background guy not doing much, or did it all at the start and sat back. He just didn’t feel like he was apart of anything. He disappears from the story for a while and you barely notice because he doesn’t add much anyway.
The relationships between then felt like they were building really well and didn’t feel rushed or forced like some novels do, but as the series went on it just got boring, it felt as if I was reading the same thing again and again.

Overall I feel if the last book went into more detail this series would be ranked very high on my list but that last book just dragged it down for me, it flopped so badly I couldn’t read the second epilogue, I just wanted the torture over and done with. I held out hope for the series but it just didn’t deliver..

Finally managed to finish it!
Since this is a "Completed Series" edition, this review will treat the series as "one book" as well.

This is a five POV book, told by the POV´s of Mercy, Wylder, Kaige, Gideon and Rowan.

I really liked Mercy´s character and how she was really brave and strong and knew how to fight. She didn´t let people push her over and never was the "damsel in distress" and managed to save herself quite a few times. She never judged people too harshly and was more of a girl´s girl. I feel like the guys had more "stereotypical roles" with Kaige being the brawl with a bit "less brain" so to speak, always charging headfirst into fights, being more flirty and a bit cheeky sometimes. Gideon is their introverted tech genius, the more quiet type who likes to be left alone by most people and enjoys facts. Wylder is "the brain" in all of this, being the heir to a gang and a bit more spoiled until he undergoes character development. Rowan is the estranged childhood friend who changed over the years but "never forgot about her". He is portrayed as more sophisticated and calm, more put together with an artsy and creative side to him.

Regarding side characters I really enjoyed Anthea, she was a boss in her own ways and I enjoyed her character development over the span of the series. I also really enjoyed Jensen´s character and how he came to be more and more like a family to them over the span of the books.

Plotwise this is a why choose mafia/gang romance that contains some spicy scenes, as well as action scenes and character development. I´d say the pacing starts of very well in the beginning (over the span of the first two book) and slows down towards the third book. If I had to give the singular books separate ratings, I´d probably rate the first two books 4 stars, the third one 3 stars and the fourth book 2 stars. This is how my overall rating of 3 stars comes to be. I loved how it wasn´t the typical why choose theme of "all of us guys want you, so we are just sharing you no" with the woman being a bit overwhelmed at that; but rather her being like "no I want all of you, and either you can handle that or you don´t have to be a part of this because I know what I want". I loved the drama and the chaos in the beginning but it when it got to the third book, it started to be a bit repetitive for me, that´s part of why I rated the fourth book so low. It felt like the story wasn´t really going anywhere anymore, the pacing slowed down significantly, and pardon my language but it started to be a bit "boring". In my opinion, this would have been better left off as a trilogy, with a bit more fast paced action in the third book.

Overall an okayish series, that just really dragged towards the ending for me.

trigger warnings: murder/attempted murder, stalking, kidnapping, death/loss of loved ones, drugs/drug abuse, mentions of addiction, gang wars, mentions of domestic abuse, mentions of child abuse

I loved this series, I love a really good Why-choose trope, and this hit the spot. Read the entire thing in one day. The plot was nicely done and kept me entertained all the way through. The smut was amazing, I devoured the five-somes and everyone other sex scene in this!

Each mmc had his own personality and background , and I was able to actually connect with each of them. I cared for each of them for different reasons. Wylder, Kaige, Gideon, and Rowan were all everything I look for in my why choose tropes. They all cared about Mercy and shared her in a possessive way that drove me insane.

Mercy was a badass fmc! She was amazingly brave and tough. She didn't take shit from anyone and could hold her own. It was so nice to see she wasn't another damsel in distress.

I was glad I gave this a chance, I almost didn't if I'm honest. After trying to read Gang of Ghouls by the same writer, I had all but given up on her, but maybe after this, I'll try some of her other stuff.

A great series that is full of danger, drama and passion.

#1 Scorned Princess

Mercy thought she was going from being under her father's control to marrying a man in a business arrangement who she would eventually come to love which forming a partnership and forging the alliance between his gang and her father's. However, it turned out that Colt her fiance had other plans and so the night before the wedding he and his men slaughtered her entire family and Mercy only just managed to escape. With a thirst for vengeance, she goes to the Noble clan and meets Wylder Noble and his men Gideon, Kaige and Rowan who rule Paradise Bend but in order to have their help, Mercy will have to prove that she is not a pampered princess and is strong enough.

Wow - this was full of danger and drama from the start to the end. I loved Mercy and how strong and determined she was. She really was able to cope with the man's world of the gang and all of the mess involved in it. There was a lot of sizzle between her and the men in the Noble gang and I can't wait to read more of the series to find out what actually develops between them. Well written, easy to read and understand. I definitely found myself reading faster and faster as I just HAD to know what happens next. Contains some sexual content. Ends on a cliffhanger and now I really do need to know what happens next.

#2 Perilous Lady

After the traitorous actions of her former fiance when he and his men butchered her entire family, Mercy Katz has joined with the powerful Noble family in order to enact revenge on him and in the process to free the streets that were her home. But it appears that the Noble family heir Wylder and his inner circle appear to not be able to decide between kissing or killing Mercy. When she thinks about it, Mercy is having a similar problem when she considers the four infuriatingly hot and dangerous men. Whatever the decisions are, they need to be right now because her ex is not pulling punches and the biggest threat of all to her might come from within the Nobles family or associates.

This was a full-on book with twists and turns that seemed to breed their own twists and turns. If you can keep up with them and think you have worked out who is responsible for what you will probably be completely wrong as I know I was. I think Mercy came into her own much more in this book as she managed to be more on a par with the guys and was able to take a fuller role in some of the operations. I loved the relationship that was developing between Mercy and Anthea who was trying to look out for her more. Well written, easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content and violence.

#3 Ruthless Queen

Mercy Katz thought that getting revenge on her ex-fiance after the murder of her family would give her peace - however, now it seems someone much worse is after her and it's right on the Noble's doorstep. Whilst Wylder and his men are still behind her, his father Ezra is not and shows his displeasure in kicking her out onto the street. She is now stuck between a vicious gang king and a psycho stalker whose only thought is for revenge and domination. Will she win the coming war or go down fighting together with her men who are firmly in her heart now? As her father's heir, she is determined to wear the hell out of that crown as long as she's still breathing.

Wow - there was action from the start to the finish in this book as Mercy battled enemies known and unknown. I loved the way she had to use her wits and contacts in order to survive as well as the way that guys all stepped up to care for her and make sure she was safe. Wylder finally became much more of a leader in this book and finally stopped focussing on pleasing people and doing what he knew was right. Through it all while Mercy had to be strong and ruthless at times she also showed care and compassion for her friends, loves and people which definitely went a huge way to getting her the support and respect that she deserved. Ends on a bit of a cliffhanger which means I need the author to sit down and write as I want to know what happens next! Contains explicit sexual content.

#4 Lethal Empress

Mercy Katz has claimed her throne following her father's death and Wilder is demanding his throne from his father but there is still a war in Paradise Bend involving a central crime gang with one of the lieutenants at the helm - him being Mercy's psychotic stalker. They have been given just seven days to bring it under control and stop the bloodshed even if it might involve a lot more in the short term - failure to stick to that timescale would mean that their own lives are forfeit. Mercy and her dangerous men have never faced a challenge like it before but the Nobles are noble for a reason and Mercy Katz is not just a kitten. Their enemies should realise that there is nothing more lethal than a creature with claws when it has been backed into a corner. So it will be peace by any means necessary or die trying.

This is the final instalment of the series and I will miss it now it's completed. I loved the relationships between Mercy and the four men who she loved. It was great to see them all working together as a team as well as how well Mercy was able to just calm them down so that they were able to get the best results. I loved the surprises from Ezra Noble and how they ended up. He was a very bitter and twisted old man in the end. Well written, easy to read and understand it was very enjoyable. Contains violence and explicit sexual content.

I was given copies of all these books by the author. My reviews were voluntary.

Scorned Princess - 4 stars

Mercy thought she would finally escape her father's iron control over her life when she married the head of a rival gang to solidify their alliance. Colt Bryant was not the love of her life, but he always treated her kindly and with respect. But then he turned on her and her family on the night before the wedding. She was the only one who managed to escape. Not sure where to go that Colt wouldn't find her she felt she only had one choice - a crime family that rivaled hers - the Nobles.

Mercy must now find a way to convince Wylder Noble to help her get her revenge. He and his closest associates are not going to let her waltz in and start a war. The things she will have to do to prove herself are not for the faint-hearted. Even if she manages to win over Wylder she might still lose.

Perilous Lady - 5 stars

This book starts where the last one left off. Mercy has been grabbed by her treacherous ex-fiance, Colt, and some of his less-than-merry men as she and Kaige were engaged in a little running competition. Though he tries to convince her that the Nobles were responsible for her current predicament, she knows better than to take him at his word with no further evidence. She manages to execute a rather bloody escape from the Steel Knights, but when Wylder and the guys show up in the Bend, apparently to "rescue" her, she is understandably wary. They convince her that they had nothing to do with her abduction and she returns to the Noble mansion. (I don't consider this a spoiler since it happens at the very beginning, wouldn't be much of a book if it ended there!)

So starts a thrilling story that has everything from previously buried dead body parts being flung through windows to a heart-stopping encounter with a sexual predator. Wylder does an about-face from a hot lover to a cold stranger. Mercy grows closer to Gideon and finally hears Rowan's story. There are also battles galore, treachery from an unexpected source, and close calls. Oh, and some hot love scenes. Enjoy!

Ruthless Queen - 5 stars

Mercy thought her ex-fiance was her biggest problem in Paradise Bend, turns out she was wrong. There is even a bigger threat, some lunatic named Xavier is after her and she isn't even sure why. Ezra Noble has kicked her out of the Noble mansion and now she has nowhere to live. The Katz heir still has her four lovers and they haven't totally deserted her. She has enough street smarts to spy on the two main gangs currently in residence in the Bend and try to figure out what is going on. But then Ezra puts a hit out on her and one of her guys gets caught in Xavier's headquarters. She's going to have to find more help if she's going to stay alive.

Lethal Empress - 5 stars

Mercy Katz and her lovers were all hit with drugged darts at the end of the last book. So, where were they when they came back to consciousness? Obviously, they weren't grabbed by the Storm's men or they wouldn't have woken up at all. But is the man who abducted them any better? He is giving then one week to get rid of the Storm's men from their county or else he will step in and kill them all and do it himself. If they don't take the deal he'll just start with them. So, a lose-lose proposition. They haven't had much luck to this point at besting Xavier. One step forward, two steps back. His latest gambit was to send Wylder's brother's dead body to the Noble mansion. How do you beat someone like this?

Needless to say, they take the deal. Now they just have to figure out how to do the nearly impossible in a week's time. Fortunately, they will gain an unexpected ally who will feed them inside information. But there are still plenty of battles to come and they may not all make it through.

Scorned Princess - book 1

Oh man so I absolutely loved this book! Like from Chapter 1 the entire way through like obsessed type love (if you read this book you know what I’m saying amiright?!). Mercy is an epic strong stubborn and fierce FMC. She watches as her whole family gets slaughtered by her “fiancé” and barely gets away with her life only to have to go into the lions den to get help. The Noble’s gang run the entire area and when Mercy shows up bleeding and asking for help they both don’t want to help but also see a situation maybe they can take advantage of. Not gonna lie, I had an on again off again feeling with my affections towards to guys, much like Mercy herself. I wanted to pummel them half the time and give them a chance the other half. So needless to say, the dynamic between Mercy and them is tense in both good and bad ways. Anthea I really did not like for most of this book but she earned my respect by the end. And ladies, do we need to talk about that cliffhanger?!? What are you trying to do, give all of us a heart attack?! This is the type of book where by 50% through I was looking for info on book 2 when this one isn’t even live yet. It’s THAT good.

Perilous Lady - book 2

I inhaled this book!!! Perilous Lady is an action packed steam filled follow up to Scorned Princess. I couldn’t wait to dive back into this world and see what was next for Mercy and the guys. This series is so intricate and well written that it really holds so many surprises around every corner. You think you’ve got it figured out but you never do because Eva is always 5 steps ahead of you! Mercy continues to be a wonderful FMC, she’s got thick skin and balls of steel. The guys are all very complex and different from each other and we continue to see her relationship change and evolve as the story continues. I am not a fan of Ezra, unsurprisingly! Or Alex either for that matter. But I love Anthea, she’s really got a completely different relationship with Mercy after book 1 and she’s proven to be an amazing support and ally. I can’t wait for book 3, I have so many questions!

Ruthless Queen - book 3

I am obsessed with Mercy and her guys, like full blown doodles on the notebook junior high fixation. This installment brings Mercy and her guys closer then ever as they try to figure out who their new enemy is. Xavier is still an unknown and I’m dying to know more about what the connection is there. I also hate his guts 🤣. I’m not a big Ezra fan either but maybe he will have a redemption at some point (probably not lol). I loved all the action and intrigue but also how Mercy and the men all worked together as a unit. This book is aptly named because Mercy really is coming into her own. And I’m really proud of Wylder and how far he’s come as well. Kaige’s backstory though omggg heartbreaking. That cliffhanger is BRUTAL!! I can’t wait for more!

Lethal Empress - book 4

I can’t believe this is the end of this series! Wow what a huge journey Mercy has had getting here. She’s got the backing of her guys but still this is no easy task. We finally see everything we’ve been waiting for come to fruition in this book and it was worth every nail biting moment! Mercy really comes into her own and her power is on full display. Of course the guys are there every step of the way and they’re supporting their girl. I loved this series, it’s one of my favorites! Amazing dynamics, action, mystery and lots of yummy steam!

DNF at chapter 4 of scorned princess
Could not stand the writing. There was no flow to it, felt very abrupt
There was no complexity in the dynamics between the characters and insufficient context or reason why the dynamics are so. There’s not much of a build up to the trauma or events, feel like they are just happening.

The world building was not good as well. E.g. they are aaaa they are the strongest, they are bbbb and they are the strongest in the bend, they might attack aaaa so you should watch out. Cccc entire mafia group gets wiped out, but they are big enough to discuss a partnership with bbbb, the strongest in the bend?? And so trusting that they would agree to a meeting without weapons?

I’m very surprised that goodreads has a 4.01 rating for this

Maybe an unfair review since I didn’t give the plot much of a chance

Unless someone tells me the writing matures and develops later on, and the plot becomes gripping or the spice becomes so exciting, otherwise I don’t think I will pick it up again.

2.5 ⭐️

this book started off with a bang, literally.
The FMC was a complete badass. I really did enjoy her and she wasn’t a pick me girly.

the boys.
Wylder, Kaige, Gideon and Rowan.
Gideon has my heart. Nothing more I love than a hot nerd.
The story with Rowan… idk if I want to be happy they get to see each other again or sad because of why he did what he did and the what ifs.

this book was SO long. And I get it was 4in1 but there’s some questionable parts that I could’ve gone without. It got to the point where I just skimmed through a lot.

Xaviers revenge didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. And Beckett just got thrown in there last minute. 😅

I don’t even remember how this ended up on my TBR but glad I got it out the way.

Book 1 Wow Eva and Harlow wrote a great start to a series . It had me glued right till the end . The story is very well detailed , the story has everything you would want , action, revenge and mystery.
What did the heroine Mercy do who does she turn to when her fiancé slaughtered her whole family. There is only one family that she can go to , the Noble family. Wlyder Noble the heir and his three right hand men of Kaige, Gideon and Rowan plus his Aunt put Mercy through the wringer.
There is also a betrayal in the Noble household, you will never suspect who it is. What I like about this story, that there is plenty of POV and of course a cliffhanger.
Book 2 Wow. Book 2 was fantastic like book 1 was . This book 2 picks up where book 1 ended.
Mercy once again can only depend on herself once she’s taken hostage by her ex . What can I tell you , there are not enough words. It has mystery ( who betrayed Mercy ) suspense, revenge , it will take you up and down like a roller coaster. It ends on a cliffhanger,
Book 3 in the series . Both authors Eva Chance and Harlow King continue with a story that will keep you glued till the end .
It has lots of non stop action , mystery and suspense filled .
Heroine is Mercy. Heros are her mates ( lovers ) Wylder, Rowan, Kaige and Gideon.
Ezra Kicks Mercy out of the mansion. But her men don’t stop there because you get to see Mercy ruthless side. When Wylder, Rowan, Kaige and Gideon. decide to show Mercy enemies, the claws who the real Queen is .
Book 4
in the series and the end. Eva Chance and Harlow King wrote a book was nonstop action from first page to the last. Full of twists and turns . Mercy and her Nobles men need to stop their enemies , Xavier is one of them. There is also betrayal , won’t say more , you need to grab it and see from where.

J.F. Harding, Ava Lucas performance was outstanding. They brought all the characters to live . You were able to know who each character was by their tone

Mercy is the daughter of a gang leader and engaged to marry another gang leader for an alliance. But when her entire family is killed by her (now-ex) fiancé, she manages to escape.

After garnering the help of another larger gang, she plans to go after her ex, get revenge, and take back her city.

Overall this series has a great storyline with likable characters. But it's a rather lackluster series that starts off stronger in the first two books and drags to the finish line during the last two books. It has some good points, but I'm not sure that I'd recommend it.

I'm actually dropping this book. Understand me correctly, I was so into it. Like really. I stayed up until 4 a.m to read it, but I couldn't get past the first book. Enemies to lover yes, mafia world, hell yes. But here....I couldn't get past how sadisticly mean the boys were with Mercy. Especially Wylder. I don't know how this book will change from enemies to lovers, but I wanted to cry in frustration because I was so sad about what was happening to Mercy. They just keep kicking her in the guts with different ideas to torture her, just to "prove" that she can be trusted. It made me sick.
I'm a huge fan of Eva Chase books and it's been a while since I've read some mafia romance books. So I wanted to pick up this type of books with this one and gosh....I regret. I'm really sorry and I feel bad, because I'm all over the place for dark romance book, but I'm almost at the end of the first one and there's no romance nowhere to be found. Kage is okay, I can understand and I really started to like him. Rowan too, he's a cute softie under that stern mask. Gideon...nothing to say. Cold. Wylder...he's a bastard. I don't know how my opinion about him can change and how, at the end, the relationship between them five will change to lovers. And Anthea...gosh it's been a while since I hated a character so much.
I'm dropping the book after the freezer sceene for the records. It didn't even bother me when they asker Mercy to cut and bury a body. But the reactions of the men's after her panic attack about the freezer officially turned me off.

This audiobook is narrated in dual by Ava Lucas (who gives an AMAZING performance!) and JF Harding.

This story is what happens when you take one badass FMC with daddy issues (not the kind you’re thinking of), a thirst for revenge, and mix her with four dangerously hot gangsters. Then you sprinkle in some murder, betrayal, cat parenting, and a healthy dose of plotting…

Tropes:
🔥 Gang wars
🔥 Why-choose (but vanilla spice: 🌶️🌶️ / 5)
🔥 Enemies to lovers
🔥 Cliffhangers so sharp they could gut a man
🔥 A heroine who says “no thanks” to damsel duty and becomes queen of the bloody chessboard

Content warnings
Murder
Violence
Gore
Kidnapping
Stalking
Death of a loved one
Drug use/abuse
Child abuse
Animal cruelty
Mention of pedophilia

Mercy, our revenge-fueled chaos queen, doesn’t just get shit done—she destroys entire empires in her spare time. And maybe a few hearts. Or ribs. Or crime syndicates.

Meet her guys:
- Wylder: broody heir with a pierced 🍆 and a toxic dad
- Kaige: swoony, tattooed muscle man who’s emotionally available and a cat dad
- Gideon: blue-haired tech nerd with asthma and a heart of gold
- Rowan: peacemaker, angsty ex with loyalty, business smarts, and a sketchbook full of feelings

Also features: a stalker with arts-and-crafts EWW energy, a dog tag thief, a cool aunt, multiple attempted murders, and a group of emotionally damaged hotties.

Final thoughts?
4 books. 400 plot twists. 4000 crimes.
2 regrets: the shy spice and a final book that could’ve been shorter and less convoluted (sometimes, less is more).

A pretty lackluster 3*

Since I have this as a compilation/omnibus, I read all the books back to back. So, I’ll just review them in the same manner; as a single entity. (All the books end on cliffhangers until the end, anyhow. So, it’s really one story in the end.) And I was pretty meh on that one story if I’m honest. I’ll say upfront that the writing and editing are fine. I was just incredibly bored. There is a lot of filler, and by the third book (when a frankly unbelievably unbelievable twist allows them to win against incredible odds), I was skimming. I think this might have made a really good duet. But stretching it out to a 1000-page quartet thinned the plot to the point of transparency.

I did like that the men in the group were not all physically prime. Gideon’s inclusion was especially nice, as was Rowen’s softer, artistic side. But the villains were cliched, the plot dragged and became predictable (except for the Hail Mary/deus ex machina solution that miraculously presented itself when needed most and makes no sense in context—didn’t see that coming for obvious reasons), and the

All in all, I don’t regret reading it, but I’m really glad to be finished with it finally.

Overall I actually really enjoyed this series. I love that mercy is a badass and not afraid of anything. The violence made sense with the story without being overly detailed and gory which I enjoyed.
Spoilers start here

Caige doesn’t sleep with groupies but sleeps with mercy a week after her being there? How is that different?
Rowan should have been the villan of this story! I think it would have been such a great twist! He was with mercy when they disposed of the body, he would have been the perfect person to play the villain. He wanted revenge on her dad for trying to kill his sister. It just made so much more sense than some random ex lover of her dead mother!

Also, Gideon. I’m sorry. I can’t. Nothing about the way that man is described is sexy 🤢 did she HAVE to be with all 4 of them? Wilder was end game and I’ll never get over the fact that he shared her. She also didn’t have any chemistry with Rowan or Gideon. Caige was simply attraction, and then she’s in love with all of them? If felt like a bad episode of the bachelorette.
Last complaint, I’m no prude, but this had too many people in too many scenes 😂 I also had to skip on over her and Rowan in the hospital. That man just woke up from a coma and she thought that was the time for a blow job? 🙈

All that to say, I actually did enjoy reading this

Kindle/audiobook (audible) -

Scorned Princess 4⭐️ - an interesting book opener setting the scene for a Mafia princess whose family is gunned down by her fiancés during their rehearsal dinner. She goes to a larger mafia family for help and ends up helping them solve a murder mystery while they test her allegiance.

Perilous Lady 4.25⭐️ - continuation of the Katz Noble Steel Knights turf war. Mercy works her way through the 4 Noble men and is targeted multiple times by Ezra Noble. Mercy gets to take out Cole and Cole’s puppet master shows himself in the end with a cliff hanger.

Ruthless Queen 4⭐️ - honestly why she continues to stay around is a bit unbelievable but she seems to have a death wish. Ezra and Xavier are both after her, but she’s still wanting to take the Storm down to save her neighborhood. At least we finally get a foursome in this book.

Lethal Empress 4.25 ⭐️ - interesting ending with even more new players in the gang game within Paradise. Another foursome in this book and a cute hea ending.

DUDEEEEEEEE
This series was fucking epic.
I started reading it three years ago, and a lot of crap happened in my life around that time. I lost my passion for reading. I decided to put this aside as I knew I didn’t have the mental capacity to take in or enjoy this story. It deserved my full attention and at that time, I couldn’t give it that. After a while I must’ve forgotten about it. Until a couple weeks ago when I was organising my kindle and I came across this ebook and it had 34% labelled on the corner. Me? Not finishing a book? Wild…
So I jumped straight back in, after only a couple pages, it all came back to me. It was as if there wasn’t a 3 year gap in between, my love for this story was back in full swing. Since getting back into it, I’ve taken every opportunity I can to read it, it got its hooks in me deep. Mercy Katz and her hot as hell harem of men got me good. I didn’t want their story to end; it was filled with passion, gore, revenge, love, romance and so much more. Like sooooo much fucking more. It’s jam packed with craziness that’ll keep you wanting more. It’s a rollercoaster that I’d happily ride again and again.
Before I even finished this, I ran to Amazon and ordered the other 3 box sets in the Devil’s Dozen universe. I can’t wait to jump into those!

I'm still unclear whether this was three different books pressed into one as a special edition or one big book meant to be separated into three parts. In either case, it's loooooong, and you kind of lost me 3/4 of the way through but I had to keep reading to see how it ended because I was invested.

To be honest, I LOVED the first story. Had it ended there, I would have been happy and probably given it a higher rating. I loved every character and I LOVE a good reverse harem so I was here for everything about it. Danger. Hot characters. Badass female in trouble with enemies to lovers hot gang heir? Sign me up. I loved everything about it and I wish it had just ended there.

I understand why book 2 was necessary, but 2 and 3 could have easily been combined as the danger, Mercy's continual need for independence as a woman, violence and group sex became redundant. The further away from book 1 we got, the more of a stretch the villains felt like they were becoming. Ezra, I get it, but the danger began to get contrived.

Had it just been "book 1" I prob would have gone with 4.5 stars. Loved everything about it.

Really great build. Each book gets better - the story more interesting and all of the characters more revealing.

Wylder- the Noble heir- the leader living in his brothers shadow always seeking the approval of his father. Bad ass but humane.

Gideon - it’s awesome to find out his story - the tech genius- vulnerable physically- he fights mentally - using his intellect.

Caige-the muscle - I think he had the most horrific childhood- he has the greatest hate for drugs and is triggered to destruction- I love the way Mercy calms him.

Rowan - he and Mercy were first loves … then he never showed for their escape from the Bend. She’s resentful when she sees him with the Nobles - but theirs is the sweet est story.

And then there is our heroine- Mercy Katz - damn she has survived the trauma of watching her entire family murder rd - the cruelty of her fathers punishments - the tests from the Nobles and then falling for each of her men.

It’s a RH. Lotsa 🔥🔥🔥 great story - a few 🙄🙄 but overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fun entertaining RH story that stars Mercy and what happens to her when her engagement party goes wrong. Had humor, a mystery, suspense, revenge and hot guys. Plus action, danger, gangs, twists and surprises. I was glued to the end and found it to be a bit dark but not nasty (not a light hearted cute story) but that is expected due to them all being in one of the top gangs in the area. More gritty then scary but addicting to read at the same time. Loved the interactions between Mercy and the guys as they still try to figure each other out and what they really want. Learned more about our main characters and watched them be amazing and do what must be done as the series goes. And the side/secondary characters add to the fun. Who would make it to the end and how Mercy would overcome it all was the question throughout the series. Not disappointing in the least and loved it to the bitter end. A few twists to add to the fun. Hot dark and so much guilty fun to read. I
