As an ace sports reporter, Jason is revving up for his next big story—Ryker Brennan, Supercross star, sexy and solid. He captivates Jason like no one else ever has.
“Despite having told myself not to get worked up, I am. And it pisses me off. Ryker Brennan is under my skin, and nothing good is going to come from that.”
Ryker Brennan:
Motorcycles are his passion. He's a little sweet and a heck of a lot of wild rolled into a 250 racer who's always primed for the next big win. Then Jason Gibbons rolls into Ryker’s life, and now his wheels are spinning.
“I fell and got a mouth full of dirt. That's racing. The bike just got away from me, kind of like Jason did after that kiss. So why was I still thinking about him?”
When life gives them a gnarly track to follow, they have to get dialed in for the next jump. Will they accept the challenge?

It was a nice read, not shockingly good, it was sweet and nice. I wish I could say I loved it more.
Sports reporter Jason and motorcycle driver Ryker are attracted to each other. Flirting and maybe a promise for more. Jason will take care of his little cousin while his sister is on a trip. When there’s no more contact Jason is very worried. He’s rightly concerned!
Jason has to put his love life on hold, he wants to take care of his cousin Chase full time. Luckily Chase is crazy about motorcycle races, so Ryker is still in the picture. Only, raising a child ánd having an energetic, carefree boyfriend around doesn’t go well for Jason, it’s too chaotic and he can’t handle it. Jason has to focus on Chase and Ryker on the 450cc races.
Being together didn’t sit well, being apart worse!
As with most reads, there are some positive and negative things. Overall it was a story with kind, decent, positively fun people, that’s a pro, it ended with a hea, also a pro, it’s sweet and considerate written, all goods things. On the other side, the relationship between Jason and Ryker wasn’t really built, there were loose make-outs nothing solid, and the make-up was downright disappointed. I expected more attention to the grief, I didn’t feel it here. Jason and Chase were doing well, and thank goodness, at last, with Ryker too. Overall a sweet light-hearted story with a nice hea.
The first of a new series, I will keep it at this one.
This was my first book by the author and I assumed it was a debut given the stilted prose and numerous errors.
The MCs were unlikeable and acted like emotionally immature teens. Their relationship never progressed beyond the initial instalust, with both MCs unable to communicate or treat each other with respect.
The plot with Jill felt contrived and was completely unbelievable.
This book hurt my brain too much at times. I had to reread sentences to make sure I was reading things right. A lot of those sentences just didn't make sense! I was surprised that this was not the author's first book, it just wasn't edited very well.
Ryker and Jason were both very flat as characters too. Their relationship was insta-lust at first sight. The way they were acting like 12-year-olds with a crush, and then asking their friends about said crush! They were very immature and I felt like Chase was more grown-up than them. There was also my kryptonite in this book too, bad communication!
The Jill thing bothered me as well, she was just added in as a way for a kid to be in the story. Why write her in and then do that! It just felt like not much thought was put into some of it. Chase was amazing and he won my heart! He was the best thing in this book and he made it! Without him, it would be fewer stars from me!
I think the sport of motor cross went over my head and that probably led to me not liking too. I normally like sports romance, but maybe this sport is not for me!
Oh dear. It could have been so good but we got a cast of 1 dimensional characters and a story which really didnt go anywhere. The kid was cute but wasnt enough to save the book.
Let me start by saying this was a new author for me and she appears to be well-loved by many of her readers. I will NOT be one of those readers. For some strange reason, I expect a book to be edited and proofread before I give it a 5-star rating, which this story was sadly lacking in proofreading. Case in point...
“Yeah!” Chase through an arm in the air.
Now, I could take the time to list the many other errors that I found like this one, but I have better things to do with my time.
As for the story itself? I will admit that a sports story is at the bottom of my "want to read" list, but as I needed this for a challenge I went into this one with an open mind thinking motorcycle racing should be interesting. I stand corrected! The MCs were so wishy-washy they could have mopped my floors with their indecision and seriously, why would both of them "think" they want a relationship and then continually "say" that it just wasn't something they could do right now... nevermind, I don't even want to go down that rabbit hole.
Now, let's talk about Chase, the "almost" savior of this book! He was written spot-on for a 6/7-year-old boy! I wish I could say that I felt his pain at his loss, but the author missed the mark on that one also. But, his enthusiasm for dirt bike racing was contagious and well-written. Thank you Ms. Michaels for that!
As always with books that failed for me, I will be giving it 3-stars because regardless of my thoughts, this author dedicated time, hard work, and the love of her art to this book and deserves to know that I appreciate that dedication.
I really liked the story. I found the plot around supercross and just racing dirt bikes to be awesome. Loved the MM romance which gave it a different vibe for that sport. I loved ryker. He was adorable super bubbly and energetic. Could always be counted on to make you smile. I liked Jason and loved chase. He was so stinkin cute. So here’s where I didn’t like some stuff. I felt like the relationship had unnecessary road blocks. It was made out to be all rykers fault and need to fix things and in my opinion Jason broke things way before that. He pushed ryker away. Yea he made what he wanted clear but honestly he was using chase as an excuse to push ryker away because he was overwhelmed and couldn’t deal. Instead of owning that. So the back and forth and coldness made ryker insecure and brought up old insecurities and issues to the forefront. Then ryker has one bad day and Jason just writes him off and ryker let’s it be because he thinks he was never good enough for chase and Jason anyway. I just think Jason should have owned more of his part in the problems in stead of making it all about how ryker needs to be a better role model for chase and to ‘do better’. Jason basically just showed up after essentially telling ryker he couldn’t by chases love and fix things with him and all was forgiven.
What a fantastic start to a new series!! I loved this book! Jason is a writer, he does sports articles, helps his twin sister take care of her son and a great guy! Ryker is a supercross racer, always on the go, hyper and focused on his career!
There is a sizzle when they meet, but they are both busy and hesitant about relationships. Then tragedy strikes and Jason ends up with raising his nephew and he thinks he won’t have time for anyone else. His main focus should be his nephew. Ryker wants Jason and tries to help out, make things easier but maybe he is just too eager.
The ins and outs of a new relationship, difficult times, a kid in the mix plus racing and working are a struggle. Can Jason and Ryker make this work?? It’s going to be a lot of give and take, patience, laughter and of course racing!!! They sure do make it interesting!
Please buy the book, read the story, you’ll love it!!
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. The chemistry was already there after the first time that met for the interview with Cole, only it never really went anywhere. Wow Ryker and Jason story goes from hot to cold to grabbing tissues to whoo boy! But after Jason's time talk(see flirting) with Ryker for his goal in the BikeMax events. What was ending up being a great ending to the day is interrupted for a forgotten training session. Jason is just dreamy eyed over Ryker, but he has been here before. Hopeful he can harvest some of the guy's energy to keep, the next time they meet which will be overeager to share what had already been simmering to a boil. Jason has a something more worries missed opportunities in the past because now his main goal is Chase.
The racing that Ryker does calls for speed and skill to win. Jason, a sports reporter, knew while he was interviewing Ryker that he liked him. And the flirting was mutual. And then real life intrudes for Jason and what started out as fun and flirty turned more serious as they had to decide if they could be more to one another than a fast ride. It was intriguing learning about Supercross and what it takes to work towards a successful season. Jason and Ryker have great chemistry but the real question for them is whether or not they can carve out a relationship given the demands of both of their careers and the new responsibilities that come into Jason's life. Fast paced and well written, this was a great start to this spin off series. 4.5 fast stars. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Really enjoyed this story - I don't know much about motorcycle racing and the writer did a great job of storytelling and also letting readers be clued into this world without feeling left out if they didn't have a background. This was definitely a heart-wrenching story with Jason having to pick up responsibility and navigating his existing life with new responsibilities and Ryker having to figure out how to be more than just fun person to someone who needs more stability in their life. Definitely wished the story was a little longer to get into the characters a little more and more into the dynamic between Jason and Ryker but looking forward to reading more from this author. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest and fair review.
First imprressions are not the only impressions. Jason, sports writer has a bad habit of flirting with his subjects. Ryker rides the smaller bikes waiting for his wins to accumulate to be eligible for the big bikes. They had a fun lightly flirty interview. Ryker as an up and comer has a lot to prove and is ready. He is liked by his peers, but carries a bit of baggage. There are some serious challenges and hopefully they both can step up. Good flow, great friends and excellent descriptions of the sport. This book provides good drama/romance and an education. Will Ryker successfully make it to the big bikes? Does Jason, get a good documentary? Will they let each other in and be able to commit? Good story, well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The best thing I can say about this book is that it worked for 2 challenges! Score.
On to the book: the opening is really stunted. A line early on that one of the secondary characters asks MC Jason comes to mind: "What are you, 12?". That sums up most of the MCs' relationship. The MCs' reasoning is all over the place, they hold grudges and are really careless with their words & the other person's respect. At the end, their conversations are just plain sharp. I'd hate to be a friend of any of these characters. Being rude is not funny. Holding someone's mistakes to their face isn't gracious (MC Jason) and places the other person on a lower footing (MC Ryker). Urgh.
There wasn't much about this story that endeared it to me, so all up - it was ok (2 stars).
I always love seeing behind the scenes of motocross in these stories by Lynn Michaels and here we also get to see it through the eyes of Jason, a sports journalist. Jason and Ryker make an immediate connection, but when Jason takes on new responsibilities things get way more complicated. I liked the way the author took her time showing us both of these men trying to adjust to the new reality, continue their careers and try to make a new relationship work. Just as in real life, it wasn't always easy and they made mistakes along the way but the intentions were alway good and they work things out.
I was not expecting this to be such a sweet and emotional story, I figured it would be fast paced and fun....which it was, however it was also so much more than that. Both MC's were extremely likable, their chemistry was on point and the story was written beautifully, the story telling was realistic in a sense that things don't always turn out how we plan them, we work through, support and love each other the best we can....with that, it's more than enough ❤️....this is a great start to this series and I'm excited for the next one. I would definitely recommend.
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
Oh this is a GREAT Book!! I love the Motocross world. Jason is a sports writer. He interviews the best in the sports world. Ryker an up and coming Motocross racer knocks him for a loop. When tragedy strikes Jason's life, everything is in the four winds. These two men struggle with which way to go. Their decisions effect more than just them. This is an absolutely AMAZING Book. Jason and Ryker are phenomenal guys. I really, really loved this Book. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a new series by Lynn Michaels but does have characters from her Holeshot books mentioned. It doesn’t require you to have read those books though. This book was great Jason and Ryker were just getting to explore their connection when tragedy strikes and Jason needs to focus and reassess his life as he now has responsibilities that he wasn’t expecting. Ryker is a bundle of energy who doesn’t always know when to back off and this causes some angst. These two get it together by communicating and move towards a new dynamic
This is the story of Jason and Ryker. It is the 1st book in the Sports Stringer Series and what an amazing beginning. The story is written beautifully and with such emotional and genuineness that you cannot help but feel part of their story. The world of motorcross is so descriptive that you do not feel lost at all. The sizzling chemistry between Jason and Ryker was there from the first and after experiencing some serious upheavals, continues. I adored this book and would definitely recommend it.
I received this book as an Arc and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Okay so I found this book hard to get into at times. I liked the over all story about Ryker and Jason. It’s a bit more complicated then you would of thought. I feel like their story could have been a bit shorter but the author kind of pushed it into a longer book. But there was a lot of the story I did enjoy. It will get you a bit emotional and make you laugh. So it has a bit of everything. It’s also the third book in this series so it is a good idea to read Seth first two books. They are standalone books but you get the other book characters in this book.
“That was dirt bikes. We fell sometimes. But we had to keep going.” I have to admit I didn’t like how some events unfolded in this book as they didn’t quite make sense to me, but I am happy that Jason and Ryker found their way to each other. I’m even more happy we got to meet Chase who is adorable and pure sunshine. I’ll be interested to see what happens next as some tasty breadcrumbs were left for us to follow.
This was a great story. I know nothing about Supermax racing and I was very invested. Jason is a man with everything coming together. He has launched an up-and-coming sports media company a great relationship with his family and a budding flirtation with Ryker, an explosive new rider. But in the blink of an eye, everything has changed and Jason has to navigate raising his nephew. Watching Jason falling in love with Ryker and navigating being a father was so satisfying!
Jason and Ryker are wonderful characters in this fast paced story. Jason is a sports writer and Ryker is a motor cross rider. They have great chemistry and are great together but when Jason has to suddenly take on a big responsibility, it’s hard to trust that Ryker is in for the long haul. It’s a great story watching these two navigate their way to one another. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I'm a little confused here. These two kept going back and forth and then they decide to try and then they are loving in together before they have really worked things out then we jump a year and then the book was over. The Holeshot series made sure the characters worked their problems out on the page and it didn't feel like that happened here. This is my personal opinion so you might not agree.
Was a good read—don’t know much about motor cross but I didn’t feel lost because felt as if everything was explained. The storyline was a little confusing at times, maybe just hard to follow but the whole thing together was good. This is my first read for this author and looking forward to reading more.
Magazines and Motorcycles is a spin off from the Holeshot series and we first met Jason and Ryker in Tricky Tracks. Jason is a sportswriter helping his sister with her son. Ryker is a supercross racer. Tragedy strikes and Jason must be more responsible. Ryker wants to help. Jason and Ryker had incredible chemistry from the beginning. Overall a really good read, well written with good pacing.
He is a sports reporter and he is about to interview the next big thing in racing motorcycles. They are just the type of man you need to steer clear of but it will not be like that. They will share a kiss which blows them apart. What is going to happen next? Will they become a couple? How will affect their careers? Follow them to find out
Jason is a reporter. Ryker is an athlete, motocross to be specific. They meet and have a connection, but nothing much comes of it right away. After an issue with is sister, Jason gets custody of his 6-year-old nephew and it all goes down from there. They eventually get it all together and are super cute as a couple.
This was my first book by this author and while it wasn't the greatest, it was horrible either. There were some proofreading issues and sometimes the characters didn't seem old enough to have a 6-year-old, but it was a cute story.
This is the first book in a new series. I enjoyed reading this book. Jason is hesitant against starting a relationship with Ryker, because he has custody of his nephew Chase after the death of his sister, but luckily love wins after some problems.
Great start to a new series. Magazines and Motorcycles is a well written book with a wonderful storyline and great characters. Jason and Ryker had chemistry from the beginning and the story had me grabbed from the first page to the end.
This is a great start to a Holeshot spin off series. Jason and Ryker were introduced in Tricky Tracks, Cole’s story, and I enjoyed being able to finally read their story. There was a lot of chemistry between Jason and Ryker, and this was a great read from start to finish.
RTC but I really enjoyed this one. It was super sweet and I loved the relationship in this one amd how we saw them go through various life events together, it really worked for me. This book was lovely.
I received an arc of this book and this is my honest opinion
