Don't Let Go #1

I'm Not in Love

I’m not in love…
I’m not in love…
I will never let myself fall in love with Tristan Wilder.
And maybe if I tell myself this a thousand times, I’ll believe it.

Having lost his parents to a tragic accident when he was a child, wealthy hotel heir Remi (Julian Remington III) refuses to form intimate emotional bonds, fearing a repeat of the crushing loss that destroyed his youth. This means no deep friendships, no heartfelt family ties, and God forbid should he ever fall in love… Well, it’s safe to say he will never let that happen.

However, as a senior at the most prestigious art college in Garner City—his last year of freedom before he’s required to take his place at the top of the Remington family empire—Remi freely explores sexual intimacy with “distractingly” beautiful men. And he does so with enthusiasm—how better to distract himself from the temptation to experience tender human connection?

Remi’s plans for emotional isolation are shook up when he meets Tristan Wilder, a nude model for his life drawing class. Stunningly beautiful from head to toe—and inside his heart, as well—Tristan struggles to scrape together enough money to support his twin sister, Tara, and her three young children. Like Remi, “Uncle Tris” is unwilling to enter a romantic relationship—his responsibility to family is all-consuming. As the men take a chance on casual friendship, Remi comes to admire Tristan’s devotion to his family. And with Remi’s surprisingly doting attention to Tara’s children, he works his way into Tristan’s heart.

Tristan is finally all in, but can commitment phobic Remi lower his walls enough to allow Tristan—and the entire Wilder family—into his heart?

Stay tuned for Smitten, Book 2 in the DON’T LET GO Series.

4.5 stras. 4.5 stars. Remi (Julian Remington III, yes he’s coming from money) has a goal, to get Tristan, the beautiful model of his art class, into bed. Nothing more. Remi has distanced himself from every form of bonding, never get too close so you’ll never feel hurt again, ever!

It worked, he’s lonely but that’s just okay, he guess. Only one-night stands with guys works for him. Getting Tristan into bed is harder than he expected, the guy wants to be friends, oh well, he can do.
First friends, then hop in bed, then retreat.

Tristan works his ass off to support his twin sister and her three kids, they are his world.
The guy in the art class is lusting after him. He has no time for distraction. Still, he’s kind and even wants to be his friend, just friends he can do.

From a social point, they are opposite, Tristan has no money to spend and Remi has too much.
Tristan has a beautiful busy family, his sister, three small kids, a sight to the eyes. Remi has just his grandparents on a monthly phone call.
Emotionally they have many similarities, they aren’t aware of!

Dang, Tristan is everything Remi is avoiding his whole life, friendship, family, fun, feelings, so many feelings.

Emotionally Remi is complicated and that’s an understatement, he’s not the only one.
What we can witness is a struggling friendship (romance is the forbidden word), sometimes awkward and uncomfortable, especially Remi, when he reacts immediately there’s a whole different guy than when he has time to think. Tristan letting himself fall in love with Remi is asking for heartbreak.

A lot is going on in terms of content, read it yourself!
What I can tell, there’s a mountain of hurt to overcome, and it’s all well developed.
Luckily the author excels in writing hurt comfort and I loved it all very much! My heart did break more than once. I loved how the characters were portrayed, sweet, flawed, emotional, lovable, even when unreachable and hidden behind walls, trying so hard not to get hurt and by that attempt getting hurt anyway!
Hurt comfort is one of my favorite topics and this one didn’t disappoint in any way!
All in all a captivatingly written hurt/comfort romance, with a comfortable pace and lovable characters!

A lovely book picturing a sweet romance between a rich man with emotional issues and a sexy uncle who struggles with everyday life. As external, I did not like Remi's refusals, but in the end, when you know the character more, you understand his struggles as a person

Remi (Julian Remington III) is an artist and a notorious playboy, so when he sets his eyes on beautiful life model Tristan, his intenzione are clear: get him into bed asap and then move on to the next conquest.

Tristan has been working like crazy as a life (aka nude) model to support his twin sister and her three adorable kids, trying to provide for them and hopefully save some money to study to become a kindergarten teacher. He definitely doesn’t have the time for a relationship.

They meet and boom, before anyone can understand how it happens, or that it has happened, they end up tangled in each other’s lives.

I really enjoy these kind of premises and this book did it well, I understood both of their reasons, maybe more Tristan’s, but you can’t do anything but root for these two idiots to realise they are made for each other.

I really appreciated how Tristan was very honest and vocal about his situation, his feelings, and what he wanted and needed from Remi. I think that was very refreshing and a good contrast with Remi that mostly had no clue or refused to acknowledge the truth.

The kids were adorable in their own unique way as well.

I received an arc of this book

I’m Not in Love was my first Mia Kerick read and won’t be my last - I devoured Remi and Tristan’s story!

Julian Remington III (Remi) has experienced a ton of loss in his life and has built a wall miles high around his heart to keep himself from more heartache. He’s a loner with no real friends, only hooks up and has a strained relationship with his family. Even though he has way more money than he knows what to do with, he’s dreading his future since he wants to create art instead of working for his family’s hotel business. Remi is a beautiful man and an incredible artist. When Tristan appears in his life during one of his art classes, he’s struck with the need to be in his life, something that he’s kept himself from over the years but something he can’t seem to avoid.

Tristan Wilder (Tris) is the sole provider for his twin sister and her three young children, working endless jobs to make ends meet and keep a roof over his head. His family is everything to him and he’s given up so much to help care for them. He’s gorgeous with Greek god good looks and a body to match, making him a highly sought after life model, spending hours on end posing nude for art classes. Over the years he’s developed a routine for keeping himself focused during his jobs, but Remi catches his eye during one of his classes and he can’t keep his focus on only modeling after that.

I really liked how easy Remi and Tris’s relationship was at the beginning - neither of them was looking for anything serious, but things quickly got there. Tristan started to rely on the escape and support Remi provided and Remi found himself a part of a family again, something he didn’t know he was missing. Seeing the two of them with the kids was so perfect - they clearly loved them, helped to knock down their walls and showed both Remi and Tristan new sides of each other. I think they both brought out a more vulnerable side of each other and made them want things they didn’t think were possible before. But, I didn’t love Remi’s quick switches to being closed off and uncaring - I know it was to protect himself, but it felt out of character. Overall, these two were full of passion and care for each other on a whole new level.

Looking forward to reading the next book in this series already!

Tristan, nude model, adonis. Struggling to take care of his family. Staring at the most beautiful man he’s ever seen across his drawing board. If only his family didn’t come first. Remi, soon to take over the family business, not shy or self effacing “because I’m an Adonis, as well. Being beautiful makes everything easier.” Absolutely “no complications” is his mantra. Believing it and living it is what makes his life work.

Remi and Tristan are very alike although they would have probably denied it in the beginning. Their pasts (and to some extent the present) have definitely colored their outlook on that silly little thing called love. I enjoyed their slow burn romance. I felt that there was enough backstory to explain their reluctance to falling in love. Remy… “When he leans heavily against my shoulder, I feel things I haven’t let myself feel in what seems like a lifetime. Warm things… nurturing things… connecting things. Dangerous things.”

Tristan has the most wonderful family. His sister and her children gave the book a well rounded feel. Even Remy’s grandparents (however curmudgeonly they were) added their impact to the story.

Very nice book with great characters.

Remi and Tristan (Tris) have baggage of different kinds— Tris is struggling to find the money to provide for the family he dearly loves; Remi has all the money he needs but, after the loss of his parents, no loving family bond to fall back on. Their friendship is uncomplicated until it isn’t, and I liked most about the development of their relationship those moments that Remi gets to spend with Tris’s family— excellent supporting characters and great foils for the experiences and emotions he hasn’t really had a chance to have in so long. I didn’t always love Remi’s choices— he protects himself by being emotionally closed off, even cold, and he turns this on and off with way too much ease (understandable, given his past, but still); however, Tris is lovely, and easy to root for. The author’s writing style makes the characters’ emotions accessible and relatable, which I appreciated, and I’ll definitely look forward to future books in this series.

This is an enjoyable read, with a good mix of cheeky lust, family and destiny. Remi has one last year on his art degree before he has to knuckle down and run the family empire. He enjoys every minute of his course, but little more than the life classes, especially when the new model is so perfect. Tristan is hardly holding everything together, but he certainly is trying.

These two very different people who actually find they had more in common than they could ever have expected. I enjoyed them taking a chance, and coming to terms with what matters, and what really doesn't. I did find the time Remi spent with the children to be a clever way of thawing his heart!

I should also give a shout out to Remi's Grandfather who finally grew some and gave Remi his approval.

I wasn’t sure what to think of this book at first. I was especially torn with how I felt about Remi. He was kinda arrogant and an ass when we first meet him, but he did some really nice and helpful things and he was great with Tristan’s sister, nephews, and niece. He had a tough upbringing. While he had everything pretty much handed to him on a silver platter, after the death of his parents, his life was filled with such coldness. His grandparents were not loving and affectionate people. Even with all of this, something about Remi still rubbed me the wrong way. His niceness felt fake and like he had ulterior motives.

I loved Tristan. He was great and I loved that he did whatever was needed, including putting his life on hold, to help support his sister and her kids, financially, physically, and emotionally. He was an amazing sibling and uncle.

Unfortunately, the romance portion of the story didn’t quite work for me. As I said, Remi rubbed me the wrong way and I didn’t find any chemistry between Remi and Tristan.

It’s unfortunate, because I usually love Mia’s stories. She’s written some of my favorite hurt/comfort stories, but this one just didn’t work for me. But hey, maybe I just wasn’t in the right headspace to enjoy the story, not every book is for every person, so please, give it a try and form your own opinion. Perhaps you’ll find something that I didn’t.

This is my first Mia Kerick novel, and it was quite lovely. Mia has a really interesting artistic and almost raw writing style that really pulls you in and makes it difficult to put the book down.

Tris and Remi bring forth a very real, sometimes messy slow burn romance. It explores trauma and the effects it has on opening yourself up and trusting other people. It also sees two men holding back on their dreams for family obligations. They both come from very different worlds, but they discover that doesn’t really matter, what matters is having someone who loves you, who makes you see then fun in life again, and helps you live for more than just doing what is necessary to exist. These two are lovely and you’ll love them both.

"I'm sure my expression also reflected, 'how the hell did I end up in an ice cream parlor with a nude model and his eight-year-old nephew?' We're poster boys for group perplexity."

With a wonderful cast of family and friends, including 3 adorable and punchy children, this is a solid choice for a read. Now to wait for book 2…

I usually don't care for hurt/comfort books but the book blurb caught my eye and decided to give it a go. I wasn't disappointed. Remi and Tristan come from two different worlds and have two different paths in mind for their lives. When these two cross paths it's instant attraction. While Remi is a hit it and quit it kind of guy Tristan doesn't have time for that. These to form a friendship and leads them both to feelings they didn't want or expect. I loved watching this relationship unfold. I laughed and cried and cheered them on. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one in the series.

First, Thank you so much for the Advanced Copy, I was so pleased when I received this one.

The first thing I thought about this book was "I love the cover art". I had never read any of Mia Kerick's books before. So, all I knew is she used to write queer romance. As for me, I enjoyed reading this book. But, There were many parts that felt off to me, like how the plot went so fast in the first pages, and I thought that was not how kids talk. I also dislike some metaphors in this book, like this one :

"Well, can I t lest have some more garlic bread?" His eyes are hungry as Remi's were when he noticed me leaning on the wall etc

Well, That was obviously different kinds of Hunger... And somehow, It felt off comparing a kid craving for a bread being with a man's hunger for another man.

I found myself tried so hard to read the first half, but then the rest of story just got better. This book was "Okay" for me. But, I wasn't sure I want to read the next book. I enjoyed it as stand-alone.

Tristan/Tris does nude modeling to help support his family. He takes care of his twin sister and her three children. Remi is from a wealthy family but is doing what he loves until he has to go home and take up the family mantle. They begin a relationship. They both have trauma in their past that cause strife. Loved Dacis, Remi’s best friend and Tara, Tristan’s sister and her three kids, they brought a lot to the story. Remi’s Grandparent’s coldness left me feeling sad. Overall, this is a fantastic read! Well written with great pacing, the story flowed.

This was a really beautiful romance about two men who seemingly have two very different lives, but actually have quite a bit in common.
Remi is an art student with a path set for his life. After a tragedy left him with a huge inheritance and a path he didn’t want, he swears off love and connection in favor of hookups and one night stands. He might not be his happiest, but his life works for him.
Then a beautiful model walks into his life drawing class, and Remi is instantly attracted.
Tristan wants to be teacher, but life’s circumstances have put that dream on hold. He’s dedicated to helping his family financially and emotionally, which eats up most of his time. He has struggles with abandonment, and doesn’t date due to his circumstances.
This relationship grows over time, with both men scared to take the next step. Remi fights his opposition to love, while Tristan battles with his inability to trust.
There’s a really loving family dynamic in this book; though Remi comes from very little family, Tristan’s family has love and attention to spare. All of the characters are really lovely.

Overall, I liked a lot of themes of this book, but it didn't have the best execution.

WHAT I LIKED:
I like Tristan's POV a lot. I thought he was interesting and the author did a good job of portraying him.
I loved Tristan's relationship with his niece and nephews, as well as with his sister.
Remi's grandfather was great!

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
I didn't mesh personally with the writing style. Remi felt way too cocky for me and I couldn't stand it.
I don't understand a lot of Remi's motivations either. He literally goes on about how he just wanted to hook up with Tristan and then two minutes later, he's going to a soccer game for his nephew? Makes no sense to me.
The exposition was way too obvious and people don't actually talk like that when giving things away about themselves. It should be more subtle.
A lot of the dialogue felt forced and stilted. So did the conflict.

I'M NOT IN LOVE is the first book in the Don't Let Go series and we start off with Remi and Tristan. Both of these guys have major baggage going on, but manage to find some solace with each other. Will it last, or will they push each other away?

Remi and Tristan are opposites in so many ways. Remi has money but no real family. Tristan has his family he adores, but they are struggling to make ends meet. They meet by chance and sort of fall into a friendship that becomes so much more, although neither will admit it.

I found the baggage for both of them to be realistic. The supporting characters were also fantastic additions, especially if Uncle Tris got hurt! The pacing was perfect for the story and I was definitely left wanting more, not ready to leave Remi and Tris behind.

I don't know if this series will focus on them or on other pairs, but I really hope we catch up with Remi and Tris, no matter what. A brilliant start to a new series and I can't wait to read more. Absolutely recommended.

I'm a big fan of Mia Kerick who is a whiz at developing troubled characters who find common ground and fall in love unexpectedly. I'm Not In Love is the first book in the Don't Let Go series and it epitomizes the hurt/comfort genre, meaning it "involves the physical pain or emotional distress of one character, who is cared for by another character".

Julian (Remi) Remington III is an heir to a hotel chain and "indulges in meaningful art and meaningless sex". Spying his next mark in his live drawing class, he starts planning his next seduction but the joke is on him. The beautiful man with dazzling eyes and devotion to his family has penetrated Remi's defenses.

Tristan Wilder is a nude model who earns money to support his unemployed twin sister and his niece and nephews. His professionalism is beyond reproach as he spots the hot artist giving him the once over. He doesn't have time for a relationship. He needs to work and pay the bills, his artist is hiding a lot of hurt, and Tristan doesn't do well with unstable impulses, so what makes this man so different?

I love the rich man/poor man trope as well as watching two opposites attract. These two beautiful men couldn't be more different. Remi comes from money. Tristan lives paycheck to paycheck. Remi is cocky and immature. Tristan is controlled and responsible. Tristan and his family bring out the humanity in Remi as he is introduced to a functioning family as opposed to his cold and unloving upbringing by his controlling grandmother and hen-pecked grandfather. Remi's tragic loss of his parents creates his fear of loss hence his one-night stands and lack of relationships. Tristan is so dedicated to his sister and niece and nephews and I admire his work ethic. It is eye-opening how nude modeling can take its toll on your muscles and strength especially considering how many gigs Tristan poses in a day.  Tristan's past with his mother is tenuous at best knowing he cannot depend on her sticking around so his doubts about Remi are valid considering Remi can't make up his mind about them.  There are so many emotional scenes in this book that ring true and I love how Tristan and Remi work out their differences to become a loving family.

Tristan's family is adorable as they all stick together. It's no wonder Remi falls for all of them.

I highly recommend this emotional and captivating story filled with loveable characters.

Thank you to Ms. Kerick for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Thank you NetGalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. I really enjoyed this story! I loved the depiction of Tristan and Remi both who had struggles at younger ages that had limited their ability to let people in! Remi is the future heir to a hotel chain and in art school, one day Tristan shows up for his Live Model class and Remi knows right away that he wants to have him. Tristan spends his time modeling nude to make the money to care for his twin sister and her three kids and does not have time for a guy. Remi does not love, not since he was nine. When these two start spending more time with each other can they grow? I enjoyed that this was a slow burn! Often with Romance novels the characters get to sex right away, which is fine, but not what happens for everyone! It was nice to read a book where one of the characters puts a pause on more intimate things and they develop a relationship anyway! I loved the Remi so quickly developed a relationship with Tristan’s nephews and niece and it wasn’t long before Tristan’s family felt like Remi’s! I also liked that when it came to more intimate things they were patient with each other and talked things through! Given there situations it felt really realistic and helped develop a strong bond for them! I also loved that when it came to their hang ups, given their pasts, those also felt very realistic! I highly recommend this book if you like LGBTQ+ romances! Can’t wait to read it again when it comes out or to read the next book in the series!

One of my favorite tropes is rich guy meets poor guy (prince/pauper types), and it is even better when there are some snooty relatives or friends that can stand to be taken down a peg. So from the blurb alone I was excited about I’m Not in Love. I like how the author addressed the differences, keeping them front and center, while at the same time not allowing it to be overpowering or manipulative. Poverty was simply a characteristic for Tristan, while wealth was one for Remi. The author allowed each character to be uniquely himself.

I’m Not in Love was a bit of a slow burn, but the story flows so well and has so much content and purpose to help you understand the main characters that it enhances the story and makes the steam well worth the wait.

Another thing I really enjoy is when a story has kids or pets. Jared, Tommy, and Wendy are the epitome of kids and they are all adorable. The author didn’t just toss kids in as a filler; they were prevalent throughout the book and largely contributed to Tris and Remi’s story. While there were no pets, little Wendy’s love for animals, especially lambs, was obvious.

This book was well-written, sweet and had a HEA; however, it ended a little sooner than I expected. I’d have liked a little more for the wrap up. It is a really good book. I just wanted a teensy bit more depth for the conclusion. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and hope to get an update on Tristan and Remi, while falling in love with new characters.

This was my first book by Mia Kerick.

I enjoyed reading I’m Not in Love. It was a little slow in places for me but I’m happy I continued reading. The story is told in first person POV, alternating between Remi and Tristan.

I really wanted to knock some sense into Remi and tell him to grab Tristan with both hands and never let go. Since I’ve never personally experienced the kind of loss that Remi did, I can’t say whether or not his reaction to such loss was realistic or not so I cut him some slack.

Tristan was a wonderful character and I enjoyed learning about the difference aspects of being a life model. I admired his devotion to his family and how he handled himself in tricky situations while doing his job as a model.

I was glad to see a certain character get what was coming to him but I also admit that I thought there would be a little more drama involving him. I thought he would retaliate and was surprised that didn’t happen.

All in all, this was an enjoyable story and I would be happy to read more books by this author.

A copy of this book was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Thanks to NetGalley for the free book in exchange for an honest review!

I’m Not in Love is a book about the ups-and-downs of the relationship between Remi and Tristan. Remi has closed his heart since the traumatic death of his parents as a child and Tristan has issues of his own regarding a flighty mother. As Tristan and Remi get to know one another they grow closer, though not without difficulty.

This book handled some difficult topics and it was lovely seeing Remi and Tristan work their problems out like competent adults. I really liked the fact that Remi and Tristan improved each other when they were together. All the characters were unique and loveable. They all managed to worm their way into Remi’s heart and mine! I appreciated how Remi and Tristan didn’t fall in love right away. They found each other attractive but it wasn’t a whole soulmate situation. Many books have the love at first sight trope that I find unrealistic, so this book was refreshing.

Overall, I’m Not in Love was a great read. If you are looking for some great romance where the characters work out their problems, look no further!

(On a very silly note I could not stop thinking about Remy from Ratatouille for the duration of this book! I know they are spelled differently but it gave me a good chuckle when the thought crossed my mind.)

Got an eArc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 4.05

For those who don't understand attachment issues, read this. The story and feelings of the characters are so raw that I also get scared of coming to terms with why I don't want to let people in my life. Tristan and Remi are examples of those who risked for the right person because they felt it, and running away from something real and vulnerable won't do anything. But there's also nothing wrong with wanting to protect your heart out of fear. Just acknowledge if running away will do you good or damage you more.

I don't blame Remi for getting attached to the Wilder family. Even I would love to spoil and take care of Tristan's nephews. This book is an intense read because of how much I get to see what's running in Tristan and Remi's heads. The emotions that they feel were described thoroughly that it hurts.

I’m Not In Love is so good! It’s emotional and has such sweet moments. After the death of his parents, Remi refuses to get close to anyone. He doesn’t really have friends and certainly doesn’t do relationships, believing that it’s easier to go through life alone than to face the pain of losing someone. All of this changes when he meets Tristan, a gorgeous model in one of his art classes. Tristan helps his sister take care of his nephews and niece, so he doesn’t have time to date and has put his own dreams on hold. Remi wants to hook up with Tristan but settles for a tentative friendship and finds himself slowly becoming a part of Tristan’s family. Tristan’s nephews and niece are adorable and provide some light moments in the story, and it’s really beautiful to see both men opening their hearts to each other. They have amazing chemistry together, and Kerick does a really good job of adding depth and romance to their physical connection. There are times in the story that made me laugh and others that broke my heart for both of them, and I found myself really invested in the happiness of both MCs. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Wow! It’s been a while since a book got to me as much as this one did - I loved this slow-burn, opposites attract story. I adored Tristan and Remi, and the story of these two men quickly captured my heart. They meet when Tristan models for Remi’s life drawing class, and as their friendship grows, so does their attraction to one another. I loved that their journey wasn’t rushed and that the emotions and characters felt real as they got to know each other and develop deeper feelings. The secondary characters of Tristan’s family were delightful and added so much fun and feeling to the story, while Remi’s grandparents, unfortunately, added some drama. Filled with so much emotion, some angst and heat this beautiful story left me feeling content for now, and desperately waiting for the next book to see what happens next.
I received a copy of this book from GRR to review, and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.

Thanks to netgalley for the arc for this review -

A solid read, but I wasn't over the moon about it.

For the most part, this book commits the greatest literary sin (in my opinion), which is to tell rather than show. It's the most disappointing thing when moments I was looking forward to seeing are just explained rather than shown, and that happens a few times in this.

The characters are fine, but Tristan is by far the best one in the book. I loved his story, and I looked forward to getting to his next POV chapter. Remi was nice, but I didn't love his POV like I did Tristan's.

Overall, it was a solid book to pass the time with and I didn't regret taking the time to read it. I didn't exactly fly through it because it didn't give me a sense of urgency, which was actually nice. The cover is freaking gorgeous too.

It was lust at first sight for Remi, a senior at his prestigious art school, when he saw Tristan, the nude model for their class. As he gets to know Tristan as a person, that lust begins to transform into something deeper. He also falls under the spell of Tristan's family. However, Remi has deep emotional scars from losing his parents at a young age and never really being allowed by his grandmother to grieve for them. He is extremely scared of coming to love someone and losing them and thus pushes Tristan away. Tristan also has feelings of abandonment froths mother. This is a story of conquering your fears and embracing the moment. This is the first installment in this series and the book ends in a HFN. I'm looking forwards to seeing what is next for Remi and Tristan as their relationship progresses.

My heart really went out to both Remi and Tristan. Remi lost his parents so young and then was brought up in a cold environment. Tristan has put his dreams on hold to take care of his twin sister and her 3 kids. They meet when Tristan is a nude model in Remi’s class. They start as friends but as they spend more time together it’s inevitable that it turns into more. I loved Remi’s interactions with the kids. He was so good with them. Both men, but especially Remi have past issues to deal with. It gets a bit angsty (I confess to shedding some tears) but love wins in the end. I was a little disappointed that this is a happy for now. While I loved all the characters I’m not sure I’m up for more angst. I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.

This is my first Mia Kerick book, and I’m so happy I signed up for this blog tour. What wonderful writing and heartfelt story.

Tristan Wilder is such a great character. While seemingly perfect all around, he’s had a tough upbringing and a challenging life supporting his twin and her 3 childern.

Julian Remington III is, on the outside, the exact opposite. But while Remi has known nothing but a silver spoon in his mouth all his life, he’s still troubled by his parents’ tragic death when he was just a young child.

What I liked about this story is the real struggles both men face in their lives. Trying to balance their wants and desires, as well as taking care of everyone around them, or at least pleasing them and keeping up promises.

While a basic dive into the arts world, I loved the take on nude subjects in drawing and sculpting.

I can admit that this story had a perfect balance of romance, life struggle dramas and some emotional issues that were dealt with and it was all just a little too perfect. But hey, that’s why we’re reading romance, no?

I really enjoyed this and can’t wait for the 2nd book.
