I really really liked this book!! At first, it was going a little slowly for me, but then it picked up and I couldn't stop - I read most of it in one sitting!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is so complex and bittersweet. The book is cleverly divided up into a timeline separated by the men she married, but the thread that carried through was her love for herself and a fellow Hollywood starlet.
Now, don't get me wrong - both Evelyn and her lover were toxic. One didn't see her as she was and the other didn't see beyond their fame. Or perhaps, these descriptions fit both of them aptly. But then, I grew to love them as was rooting for them until the bitter end.
I spent the majority of the book looking for clues as to why Evelyn picked Monique to be her biographer and the big reveal truly shocked me - I literally gasped and closed the book for a second as I let it sink in.
All in all, this book has left me reeling - I'm devastatedly heartbroken and yet so thrilled that I could read this book. I highly recommend.

After I finish a book, I usually run right to Goodreads to review (maybe this leads to gut reaction reviews, but I think it's typically more fun/authentic that way).
This book however...
Let's just say I was dragging my feet to read TJR's contemporary novels because I thought they wouldn't hold a candle to her historical fictions.
But boy was I wrong!
I absolutely LOVED this book! This book truly defies genre (is it romance? "women's fiction"? literary? Idk!), but whatever genre it is, I would like this author to write several dozen more of it ASAP.
I truly had no idea what the ending would be (even though I had been secretly hoping for exactly what happened the whole book) and that feels so special, honestly. Because it further serves the purpose of the message; what is love, how does one love and lose, and try to find love again? And if so, which is your "true" love?
This was also my first book of hers I've read that doesn't contain any crossover to any of the other novels (though I'm manifesting the author sprinkles in references to the bookstore or the novel they read at the end or even the surfer girl at the end being related to a Riva lol as an Easter egg for her next novel) and it was honestly refreshing to know this book was truly standalone. It both can and doesn't exist within the same world as Daisy Jones, Evelyn Hugo, etc. It's up to the reader to decide.
I'm so excited to watch this movie adaptation of this too; if its anything like the current adaptation of Daisy Jones and the Six, TJR fans are truly gonna stay spoiled for quality content.

I really enjoyed this book!! But I was team Henry all the way. <3 Ethan could never.
While this wasn't as strong as her newer books, it was honestly so cool to see how she's grown as an author. But also, if she hadn't been the one to write it, I don't think I ever would've picked up this book LOL.
Loveddd this book! Couldn’t put it down after the first chapter! It was very well written and the timeline was sectioned off by each of her husbands. I felt like the book was steady and very easy to read.
If you have been through toxic relationships or even secretive relationships or divorce, you can definitely relate to this book and the feelings that Evelyn has throughout the book. Needless to say I definitely recommend reading it!
Overhyped is the #1 thought that comes to me when I think of this book. I found Monique to fall flat as a character and have no real purpose besides the twist ending. Despite being an easy read I found the use of obvious foreshadowing childish and repetitive. The story fell flat until the very end.
I never put it down I was on vaca and chose the book over other fun things to do lol Little stories inside the plot which was good Did not need to read others in series first (usually I am a stickler for that)
I’ve only read « the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo » it’s a nice book overall, I enjoyed the timeline it took place in and I cried at the end eventho I knew what was coming but I wish it was more catchy.

Przeczytałam ,, Siedmiu mężów Evelyn Hugo’’ tylko że po angielsku a ta aplikacja nie rozumie koncepcji ponownego przeczytania jakiejś książki więc i am so sorry.
I did enjoy this book overall. I like the flow of it too. There were factors of it i did not like though. The character of Evelyn was not likable in my opinion. It did make me sad in some part though. It does get one curious of what happened in Evelyns like to be fair. It was okay but not a must read.
