Children are beautifully inquisitive and they do ask questions about what happens when death occurs. As parents and adults who desire to give a Biblical response to these inquiring inquisitive youngsters, it is good to have the right answers. And sometimes we need tools to help us do just that.
What About Heaven? is written attractively for the very young child and will capture their attention right away with the rhyming text full of the questions for which these youngsters want answers. Illustrated in sweet, whimsical style that parents as well as children love, their attention is kept visually as well as verbally.
Now just how effective will this little gem of a book be to us as we minister to our young charges? I think the sweetness of the book will generate a gentle response of heart and mind to the topic of Heaven. As the questions have been posed in the early part of the book, the response or answer is given in rhyme in the last portion. Answers are Biblically based (references to Scripture are at the top of the "answer" pages) though written in age-appropriate rhyme.
All in all I think this is a treasure to be used since the Biblical truths are expressed clearly with the specific Bible references for parental and child future study. I recommend homes with little ones acquire it for a "go to" book for those special question and answer moments.

Heaven? What is this place? What and who will be there? This delightful picture book written for children to read or have read to them begins with many of the questions that children of all ages ask when considering heaven. The adorable illustrations of colorful and whimsical children enhance the text so that the reader must read on.
When the questions are all asked, the author directs the reader to the scriptures to learn what God has revealed as well as the references that support those truths. It reminds us of no need for sun, our bodies will be perfect and new, no more pain or sickness, all will be whole and complete, angels, things of unbelievable beautiful, but best of all will be God Himself. What a thought – “..God will be there, everywhere that you are…”
Read, enjoy and marvel at the thought that Jesus “has prepared a place..” and that place is Heaven. (reviewed by J.LaTour)

My seven year old daughter and I have read this book several times together and we loved it. First of all, she always has a ton of questions about heaven. In her short life she has been fortunate enough to have not lost any close family members yet but she has lost quite a few pets. Unfortunately, by the time she was born, many of them were already 8-10 years old. The latest loss hit her very hard and she struggles to deal with it. Smokey was her boy. She writes letters to God on a regular basis to make sure he is okay – see the details of her first one here. This book helped her feel more comfortable with the concept of heaven and the loss of her “boy”. I know when she is put in the unfortunate situation of losing a person close to her – this book will always be in the back of her mind and will provide some coping skills for her during her sadness.
NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Tyndale.
I am pleased to say that my daughter has read another book, and this is it. While this book is written for younger children--preschool and kindergarten--my 9-year-old truly did enjoy the book. Her favorite thing about the book was that there were Scripture verses that backed up everything in the book. It was a quick, easy read, and it could certainly open the doors to lots of great discussions about something that many people wonder about--heaven. My daughter didn't have any questions answered, but I look forward to going back through the book and reading the Scriptures together so she can come to a better understanding of the ultimate home of believers.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
Genre: Religious Picture Book Awards: None Audience: Grades Preschool-1 A. This book is a religious book because it talks about Heaven. B. The author uses a lot of color as a visual element. She uses bright colors to influence the mood of the story. By using the bright color, it gives it an upbeat, happy mood. It helps address the afterlife and death in more of a positive way for children. C. I would use this as a one on one book with one of my children to help explain the topic of Heaven and death. D. Will you ever get hungry in Heaven? No.
Delightful illustrations and beautiful poetry will delight children and adults alike in this book about heaven. The author includes scripture references in each page for further study.
. Lovely story describing heaven in rhyme to children based on Bible passages. The actual passages are cited at the end of the book, so a great teaching tool for older children.
I am trying to read the books I own & this is a keeper!
As someone who may or may not be atheist (I just don’t really know what to believe), I think this book is adorable and very nostalgic for me. The art is also amazing!
Being a member of the Tyndale Blog Network brings exciting rewards. Recently I was given Kathleen Long Bostrom's book for children What about Heaven? in exchange for my review. Rarely, am I at a loss for adequate words and for a few weeks I just kept saying 'wow' after getting my hands on this sweet melody of song. The author took into consideration all that a pure young child would ask about the afterlife and than she answered these questions with poetry and scriptural verses. This book is as precious as the young children that it would bless, the answers will be clearly understood and the adorable illustrations contributed by Elena Kucharik will enhance their pleasant experience. This would make the perfect gift for all children and also those who have difficulty understanding the scripture. I'm not too embarrassed to admit that I have picked up a child's book on particular bible stories whenever I had difficulty in the past. Here's a sneakpeek of this awesome book, '"It is always daytime~there is never night. The Light of God's Love will be shining so bright"'. This review comes with highest recommendations.
This is a children's book about heaven and the questions that children ask about it. The first few pages are full of questions a preschooler might ask. The following pages answer those questions. The book is all in rhyme. A section in the back of the book, called "Bible References," answers each question from the text. The answers are given in rhyme, also, but the biblical references are not.I like that the books starts off by saying that some things we won't know until Jesus comes back. The book is adorable. The illustrations are fun and I can see this being a great starting point for discussions with children. The book talks about what heaven is like, with the only mention of how to get there being "The way is with Jesus, believing in Him."
Another very good book to answer children's questions about Heaven, told in a gentle, nonthreatening way, with Biblical understanding. Even adults may be surprised to learn how much the Bible says about what Heaven is like.
