Once again, miscommunication among the inhabitants of Ceres puts everybody at risk. This volume takes the relationship between Iason and Riki and forces the reader to see the larger view. Kirie’s overweening attempts to bring himself out of the gutter make him both like and unlike Riki. But their attempts only cause harm to them and others around them as the ugly under belly of this world is exposed.

While the sex is as hot as ever, showing why this remains a titillating read for yaoi fans, the story removes itself from the stifling hothouse atmosphere of non-stop sex and the constant turnover of sex pets to display the shaky sociological underpinnings that support the pampered world of the empty androids called Blondies. Thus “Ai No Kusabi” becomes much more than romps between the sweaty sheets. Ambitious, austere, beguiling and degrading, this series is as fascinating as the corrupt world it portrays.

"sai cosa significa ai no kusabi?

Color me pretty much creeped out after the ending of this volume. Iason-sama is still god-on-long-sexy-legs and I still worship him unconditionally, but that last scene was a bit too rapey and monstrous even for my taste. That would not be a problem, except I'm also supposed to believe there are feelings involved in this twisted liaison and over the last 6 volumes, I have only seen hate on one side and obsessive-possessiveness on the other. Nothing even remotely close to love. Which makes what I know is coming pretty much beyond the realm of credibility.

I'm with Raoul in this all the way, more a horrified bystander than a willing participant, knowing what an unmitigated train-wreck in the making I am watching.

Still, there were highly entertaining parts in the reading of this volume. FINALLY a gaggle of gorgeous and garrulous Blondies, egging each other on, throwing wrenches in Iason's cogs, making him toe the line and defy them at the same time. All that was most excellent. Riki too, for the most part was excellent, up to the point where his show of defiance turned from exciting to dumb with bells on and spoiled everything.

Two more volumes to go and I am apprehensive, I always abhored the ending and never once cheered for or believed in the love story... but reading the novel and seeing zero evidence of any love anywhere, I will hate what's coming all the more.

The book really picked up with Riki's return to Eos, which I had been eagerly anticipating since it was made clear books ago that his 'freedom' was only temporary.

Unfortunately, the sex scene before the end only made me feel pity for Riki, because the sex no longer focused on the dynamics between two alpha males, but on an alpha that continued to fuck the other absolutely mercilessly with no pleasure involved.

It was really quite a downer.

Riki is back at Iasons and has to be introduced to the blondies again - penalties occur. Guy seeks information about Kiries and Rikis whereabouts. The author repeats too often in the books about how strange Iasons behaviour and Rikis slum mongrel is or the latest revelations about furniture, at least in each book 2-4 times. Without the repetitions, the books would be one less.

Riki is forced to return to Eos, showing the surpisingly seductive creature he’s matured into, catching many an eye. Iason has challenged the very society he’s at the pinnacle of, but perhaps Iason is simply acting according to his nature in confronting and puzzling out the inconsistencies in that order. For Iason has an insatiable lust for the puzzle that is Riki in particular, why he makes Iason and others react the way they do. Raging, rebelling, and despising what he’s become, Riki accepts a raw truth: No one can keep with Iason. Not in guile. Certainly not in bed.
As for Kirie, he’s doomed himself, yet he may be getting exactly what he wanted in a way he never expected. Guy, however, is far from satisfied. His dissatisfaction is reaching a critical level, especially since Riki is involved.

Darkly poetic, dystopian, and plain hot, this particular volume has Iason taunting, teasing, and giving his world and the reader a taste of what he and Riki have become.

tho i enjoyed this... i feel like something is missing... like there's repititions and the development between riki and iason is not satisfactory enough (?) i kinda expected more but maybe i'm getting greedy. anyway hopefully next volumes would focus more on them.

So for me the story ends with the end of the translation. It's really sad, because Kirie's story finally became interesting and Riki came back to Iason. So many mysteries are still uncovered and so many things left unsaid :( I just wish I could speak Japanese.
