God's Word is full of detailed information about heaven, if we only know where to look. Dr. David Jeremiah wants you to understand this pivotal piece of God’s plan for your life. In his new book and teaching series, he uncovers answers to your pressing questions about heaven, showing you how what you believe about heaven today affects every part of your faith and Christian life.
Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.
Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.
Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God
When I saw this book out by Dr. David Jeremiah, I knew I wanted to read it. I enjoy his books very much and his radio program as well. The book was wonderful. This is not some little fluffy book about what the author *thinks* heaven is going to be like. I've read those and believe me, they are very silly.
No, Dr. Jeremiah bases everything in his book on God's Word! He sometimes shares his opinion, but pointedly makes it known that it IS just his opinion. And that happens rarely, too, because the entire book is based on what we know in Scripture.
I enjoyed this book tremendously and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to know more about our future home, Heaven! I can't wait to go!
* 'When you forget that God has prepared a place for us in heaven where we'll spend eternity - a glorious, wonderful place that's real and not imaginary - we begin to try to create our own heaven here but on earth.' Pg. 6 Mid-End * Solomon tried everything under the sun but the things of earth never satisfied him, because God has put eternity in our hearts! (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Pg. 7 Mid-End * Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. - COLOSSIANS 3:2 AMP * 'So if you're trying to build equity in heaven, invest your time, talents, and treasure in the Word of God and souls of men and women who need the message of Jesus Christ.' Pg. 24 Mid-Top * 'When people ask me, "Where are they now?" (when passed away), I tell them their bodies are asleep until resurrection day.' Pg. 34 End
2. Where are they now? 3. Won't Heaven be boring?
* Heaven won't be boring because God is not boring, we're not boring, our friends are not boring, our work will not be boring and because Heaven is everything we've been looking for. :)
4. Your Future Super Body
* Pg. 91 has a good explanation. :)
5. Heaven's Oscars
* 'lf the Isthmian athletes disciplined themselves to win an insignificant prize, how much more would we lose well-disciplined lives to win an incorruptible and imperishable prize (crown/internal life)?' Pg. 123 Top * 'Assume that whenever you are alone with another person for more than a few moments, you are there by divine appointment to explain to that person the love and forgiveness he can know through faith in Jesus Christ.' Pg. 126 End-127 Top
8. The New Heaven & the New Earth

9. What on earth is the New Millennium?
* 'Part of our reward will be to reign and rule with Christ on this earth, and each of us will have opportunities to serve the Lord based upon our faithfulness in serving Him now. Koorong that gives us a renewed determination to serve the Lord with all our hearts.' :) Pg. 236 Mid
11. Tough-Minded About Heaven
* '...when I've meditated on heaven, sin is terribly unappealing. It's when my mind drifts from heaven that sin seems attractive. Thinking of heaven leads, inevitably, to pursuing holiness.' Pg. 288 * 'But when we hold tightly to the truth of our Lord's return, God rewards and heaven, it compels us to keep growing.' Pg. 294 End
How can anyone dispute the fact that so many people wonder about heaven. They want to know what happens when a loved one dies. Where does this person go after the cemetary or even at the moment of death. Does one go directly to heaven or is there an intermediary holding spot? What does one do in heaven, if he or she does go there? What happens to those who die not knowing Jesus as Savior? Are there animals in heaven? Will we recognize loved ones, our parents, our spouse? Or even better, will we talk to God, to Jesus, to Paul, to Luke, or Mary? So many questions that Dr. Jeremiah answers in a manner that is not often found in commentaries. Dr. Jeremiah also addresses those who have no identifiable religion when he says, "To dispense with belief in God is to relinquish hope." Reading Dr. Jeremiah's book provided me with challenges along with hope...hope for my children, my late husband, my beloved relatives and friends, and for myself to be reunited with God. And not just a reunion, it'll be a time to gather at Jesus' feet to ask Him all the questions we have had. If you enjoy Dr. Jeremiah's radio and TV programs, you will find this book satisfying and edifying. Heaven will not be the mystery it has been for so many of us.
This is probably the most comprehensive book I've read on Heaven; however, I would not say it's the best. This book served mainly as a review for me. It wasn't until I got to chapter 8 that I got more interested. I rated it 4 stars for these reasons. But if you are curious about heaven or not well-versed in scripture then this book is definitely for you. It is well written and gives ample scripture to back up the theology. Read it prayerfully, with an open mind, and don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. One thing is for certain, heaven is glorious and one day we will experience the fullness of heaven on earth.
So, this subject is hard to discuss but I think extremely important. Talking about Heaven will undoubtedly cause you to think about death in which my case I found myself doing often as I read. I cried at times and I was happy at other times. This book completely changed how I felt about death and arriving in Heaven. I don't think any author can fully answer or explain every question there is to ask, because I still have many, but I did feel Dr. David Jeremiah did a wonderful job as best as he could. Some of the book was a little dry compared to his other books but perhaps its because of the content. Overall, it was a fantastic read that everyone should read at least once if they want to know and understand what happens in the End.
If you want to read a well thought out, well researched, highly informative book on God's Word, there are a few people as reliable as Dr. David Jeremiah, and Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven is no exception. Heaven is among the greatest hopes of the Christian life, and yet there is much about heaven that is misunderstood. Dr. Jeremiah takes us on a deep dive into what the Scriptures have to say about heaven, what happens when we die, the coming new heavens and the new earth, the resurrection of the body and much, much more. There is even a chapter that talks about what happens when someone loses a child. That poignant chapter alone is worth the price of the book. This is one of the most encouraging and thought provoking books I have read. I bought it for the purpose of teaching a study on the topic of heaven. This book will make an excellent text for that study. I highly recommend this book.
I'm familiar with this author through Christian radio so I was delighted when a friend passed her book on to me. On the back cover the author stated that he wants this study of heaven to enable his readers to visualize heaven so much they can't wait to get there. His compilation of verses, references and personal insights from scripture encourage the reader one to conclude that it will be worth it all once we get there, and our troubles here and earth won't even be a memory.
The book answers many questions in easy-to-comprehend words and delightful pictures of a place already populated with believers who've gone on before us and who will welcome us home...if we've made our reservations according to the directions given in scripture.

Intersting study that will increase your understanding of heaven and inspire excitement for the Christian afterlife. I read this as part of a Sunday school study group. The book prompted engaging discussion about the many questions and images that the idea of heaven has prompted over the years, and compared/contrasted to biblical scripture. All participants agreed they had a better understanding of the biblical scriptures concerning heaven and that many of their precepts had been erased and replaced with something more realistic and enduring. Great study!
I read the 2017 hardback version of this book. Not only does Dr. Jeremiah present his views, but he provides scripture references to substantiate his beliefs. I found the book very informative in chapters titled "Won't Heaven be Boring?", "Your Future Super Body", and "What on Earth Is the Millennium?" I found comfort in the chapter titled "What About the Children?" If you are curious about heaven, this book will provide encouragement and food for thought.
David Jeremiah gives a comprehensive overview of practically everything the Bible tells us about what to expect when we die and when Jesus returns. He answers the questions about our disembodied spirits at death and our glorious resurrected bodies when Jesus returns. He discusses what Heaven is like now and what we can anticipate the new heaven and earth will be like. It is a book that is highly applicable to everyone eventually.
A wonderful book about Heaven. Dr. Jeremiah reveals many things about Heaven and it is totally based on scripture. Now if you read the Bible you can learn these things directly from the Word but it helps to have everything about the subject contained in one book which also includes interesting stories and other useful information.
This was a very good book if you are looking for answers to the unknown questions about Heaven. It dissects the book of Revelation, along with other books of the Bible, to paint a picture of what Heaven looks like and what may transpire there. It talks about what you can expect, and also provides information on how you can develop a relationship with God to ensure your entry.
This book is full of so many things that I never thought to think about. Pondering so many things about eternity gives me totally different perspective on how to live now… I love the CS Lewis quote that was used in the introduction, “If you read history you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were just those who thought the most of the next.”
Dr. David Jeremiah does a good job answering common questions about heaven. Dr. Jeremiah’s answers are based on Scripture. This book is therefore factual and an easy guide for someone exploring this subject. I am sure many enjoy this author’s writing style. However, I find his style a little too wordy for me.
This book gives you joy and excitement about looking forward to a heavenly home, not doom and gloom. So many truths that you might not have thought about or maybe have wondered about…it should make us want to share about a heavenly home not all are bound for so they might come to know Jesus and then know they have an eternal home far grander than this world can boast.
For those who aren't 100 percent sold on Christianity and the need to take biblical details so literally (i.e. everyone getting physical spirit bodies and going to a physical cubed Heaven), this book isn't for you. It's more of an extended church sermon to hardcore believers.
David Jeremiah does a great job of explains truths of heaven from the Bible and why it matters to us today. Easy to read and very engaging stories. A good read for anyone interested in this teaching that is found throughout the Bible.
Excellent teaching on what we can expect when Jesus returns for us. Scripture to reinforce our comfort in k owing we will be with King Jesus for eternity.
