Dwayne - Twenty years ago, there was a terrible accident which put my son in a wheelchair and took the life of the woman whom I thought I’d spend my life with. I became depressed and despondent, and pushed everyone away. I could have lost it all forever, but fate, a little luck, and a firecracker named Finn helped me piece my life back together.
One day fate intervenes again and brings me to a young man named Fabian. He’s in need of a helping hand and I’m happy to pay a favor forward. But soon, I’m not only drawn to helping Fabian, I’m also drawn to him. He’s beautiful, kind, and patient, and has me questioning everything. I’m feeling things that I never thought I’d experience again. Do I take the risk or listen to my fears and guilt? Do I open my heart up or protect myself from more pain? Do I have what it takes to claim my second chance?
**This insta-love M/M romance is the fourth and final book in the “Head Over Wheels” series, and is best enjoyed in order after the other three stories. It contains a beautiful femboy, a kind but guarded older man, no cheating or cliffhangers, and a very happy HEA.
I live in rural Ohio with my husband and two sons who drive me nuts, but I love them with all my heart. I enjoy reading and writing romance of all types, but gay romance is my forte and favorite! Twice the sexy men? Yes, please! My books tend to be low angst because it hurts my heart, but they do contain lots of heartfelt moments, steamy scenes and a healthy dose of humor. Thank you to everyone for checking out my page and I hope you enjoy my books. Happy reading!
Head Over Heels is the final book in the Head Over Wheels series by Jayda Marx, featuring a younger femme Fabian and Harley's father, Dwayne. With it we explore love after grief, and sweet caretaking between each other.
While done in under 100 pages, Marx weaves a cute story between Fabian and Dwayne. I do believe it is crucial to read the other books in this series as it takes place ten years after Jake and Miles' story, who have now adopted Lincoln and Fabian is someone who is at the old hostel Miles had been staying at. Dwayne at first helps Fabian just out of kindness, but quickly the proximity leads to the instalove this author is known for. These two were quite sweet and I loved how they balanced each other out, such as how Fabian's love encouraged Dwayne to want to dress better for Fabian because he wanted to look as good as Fabian made him felt.
I think the most interesting part of this book is how Dwayne, a widower, explores his grief of moving on but still holding the precious memories of his wife, and how Fabian supports him through that. The importance of communication they both work with, and most of all, how Dwayne brings up an issue in their large age gap: the fear of how Fabian will outlive Dwayne, and how he doesn't want him to feel that sadness as he had felt with his own wife. I felt that was such a poignant conversation I don't often see in age gap romances and as usual, Jayda surprises me with the important topics she covers in her light-hearted books.
I am glad to see this adorable, sweet family these books weave together and the men they love. I'll miss them, but it was a great end.
It’s the 4th and sadly the last installment in this great serie serie.
It’s about “straight” Dwayne. Harley’s father ( one of the MCs from book 1 and 2) and Fabien a sweet and sexy femboy.
I liked Dwayne in the first 3 books and I loved him more in this book. I didn’t know he could be so funny and adorable .
It’s very insta love, not my cup of tea but it works very well here. Jayda’s signature.
Harley, his husband sassy Finn (book 1 and 2), Jake (Harley’s cousin who was supposed to be also straight ) and his his husband Miles (book 3) and of course their 4 years old son Lincoln all made several appearances. Turned out the whole family loves boys 😬 Pretty sure Lincoln will grew up liking boys as well 😁 He loves wearing girls cloths especially tutus, playing with Barbies. Uncle Finn always makes sure that the little guy is proud of who he is and will always be.
I’m not ready to say goodbye to them all. I miss them already.
Loved it again, so much! How can this short book has that much impact while others twice or trice as long leave me cold? Love these two.
***4.5***
My god are they sweet together. Sure there was an insta-connection between the two of them but they also took their time to get to know each other. They didn't rush their relationship which was good, as Dwayne needed time to come to grips with his not only having feelings for a man but having feelings for someone other than his late wife and Fabian was too fragile at the beginning to have "believable" feelings for Dwayne other than being grateful... Well they lived together right from the start but still they didn't rush anything else in their relationship with each other. It was so emotional when Dwayne cried holding Fabian in his arms. I am so happy that Harleys dad also found his HEA. Even though it was a short story it still gripped me. It didn't overwhelm and water down the story with different plot twists etc. but instead concentrated on the interplay between the MC's thus had the room to form a deeper connection and portray it.
I nodded and plopped in a chair before Fabian pulled his out and sat down. Crap, I should have done that; a gentleman should always pull a chair out for his date. Oh shit, is this a date? It's just at my house, but we`re both dressed up and having a nice meal. Ohhh shit, I think it's a date. Okay Dwayne, I know you're rusty but you can do this. Say somehting flirty. "Your hair looks different." Fuck, that was terrible. Fabian nodded as he patted his locks. "Finn trimmed it for me today. Do you like it?" "It looks great." Thatta boy, Dwayne!Plus, his hair did look great.
What an excellent end to this adorable series. This book is set ten years after the last, the story of Jakes and Miles. In it, we have Dwayne and Fabian. I’m so happy that Dwayne got his little slice of happy.
Fabian was such a good match for him. They just suited one another so well. A tiny touch of self doubt on Dwayne’s part, but even that wasn’t enough to make him walk away.
I’ll miss all of these characters but I’m so happy we got all of their stories.
Awww! This book was just perfect! The third book in the series, before this one, just wasn't as good as the previous two, so I was really worried about this last book. I didn't have to be. This book had all the feels of the first two and loads of positivity for gender expression and sexuality. Fabian was the sweetest femme young man and I'm so happy he got his HEA with Dwayne, Harley's dad. The addition of the previous characters just pulled everything together and made this book even better. Little Lincoln is a total pistol and I loved that he was accepted and encouraged to be himself. I'm only sorry that this was the last book but I can definitely say that I'd recommend reading all of them! They are sweet, instalove stories that show that love really is for everyone and just make you feel good! A solid series!
I was ecstatic when I learned that the author was going to write one last book for the Head Over Wheels series. I have been waiting for a happy ending for Harleys dad since the beginning of the series and she didn't disappoint. This was a super sweet just a tiny bit of angst short love story. A really great ending for the series. All the stars for this whole series!
I feel like I read a different book from others, this was OTT and I mean I know Jayda writes like this, I have read all of her books but lately, for me, they crossed the 'this is insta-love, OTT but extremely cute' to 'this is insta-love, OTT and honestly a little creepy and/or just extremely unbelievable' I mean, and if you can keep me honest here I would appreciate it, but we are talking about a +/-40yr gap between the two MC which made me realize a do have a limit, go figures. This borderline on nasty and not in a good way, this was just no for me. I did read it all, it is really short but I think I'll pause my Jayda's reading since I just keep finding them more and more weird.
I gave it 2 stars because I loved seeing previous characters and it was nice to get a glimpse into their lives now so that was nice.
Okay after reading this, I was slightly confused about Fabian’s situation. *Why didn’t he have any other clothes or personal items? It didn’t make sense to have sold his clothes, makeup, etc. because he wouldn’t have gotten any money. *Going from the first point, why didn’t he wear something else to job interviews? Most service industry jobs would have to wear a uniform to the job anyway. Dressing out of your comfort zone is pretty standard for most interviews anyway.
I’m all for instalove, but those unrealistic damsel in distress things from Fabian really knocked me out of the story because I just couldn’t get passed them.
So happy Dwayne got a chance of love again and Fabian was the perfect one for him. I adore this author’s books so much! I love this series and hate to see it end. Wonderful read!
I love Dwayne and Fabian! I am so happy that Dwayne finds love again and Fabian is a sweetheart. This was a perfect ending to the series. It was great seeing Harley, Finn, Jake, Miles, and Lincoln again.
This was a sweet ending to a fun series! As sad as I am for it to end, I’m glad it did so with Dwayne getting his HEA and it was a lovely way to say farewell to Finn, Harley and the rest of the Wheels family
Absolutely loved this series!! Just shows that no matter who you are or if you have disabilities love can be found anywhere. Always love reading books by Jayda Marx! Can't wait to see what else Jayda will publish in the future ♥️♥️
I absolutely loved this entire series. From Harley and Finn (who is hilarious), Jake and Miles who are absolutely adorable and perfect for each other and finally Dewayne and Fabian. This whole family is all about love and acceptance and joy.
I love a romance where someone in need gets rescued. That’s a trope I enjoy and the author built a good story around it. A nice ending to a well written series.
While this story was as well written and sweet as the others in this series, it was a little harder to suspend disbelief with the instalove because of the bisexual awakening element of the plot.

I felt so bad for Dwayne in the prior stories and am so happy he was able to find love again. This takes place from the end of the epilogue of book 3, 10 years from book 1, and 20 years since the accident that took Lauren from Dwayne and Harley. Fabian was in such a rough place and both him and Dwayne found each other in their time of need. I usually love a good age gap but my heart hurts at how big it is. Dwayne already being 56 and Fabian only being 23 says there is a great change D will pass on well before him. One thing that Fabian has that others don’t is an amazing found family with Harley, Finn, Jake, Miles, and Lincoln. Both D & F will always have someone. Dwayne has to fight some internal battles, but Fabian is more mature than his age and understands and is willing to fight for him. Nice wrap up to the series. I am a Jayda Marx girl for sure <3.
I never dreamed I'd hear the words again, or feel these emotions, but Fabian made it impossible not to fall in love. - Dwayne

I had previosly read this book and only rated it 3.5 but after listening to this I had to raise my rating to at least a 4.5. I love this series so much and this story was a great addition. I think I was just so in love with Finn and Harley that I rated these 2 MCs too harsh by comparison. These 2 are both wonderful characters and had amazing chemistry. I loved their story even though it was more serious in tone compared to the others. This was a quick story and of course I always wish these stories were longer but I still loved it. Like the others this was low angst and instalove. This one was also very low heat but it really fit the story and the characters past history.
This narrator is alot fun to listen to. He puts so much emotion into his performance and does various character voices that suit them well. It truly is a pleasure to listen to him bring the story to life.
I loved this book. Twenty years ago Dwayne life changed in the worst way he lost his wife in a car wreak that left his son wheelchair bound. He didn't let people in. Fate steps in when a a man named Fabian is attacked and Dwayne steps in to help. Fabian needs help and Dwayne offers to let him stay in his home until he gets on his feet. Dwayne never expected to fall in love with him.
I really enjoyed this series and am a bit sad that I've reached the end. I love K.A. Belle's Oz-Vegas series, but none of their snarky talk makes me laugh out loud like Finn does. :)
