Two women separated by time learn what happens when they embrace their inner magic in this inspiring environmental fiction novel.
Although Sara's college degree provided her an out, she always knew she’d return home to the small logging community that is like family to her. But when she learns the forest around her can talk, Sara’s focus shifts from cutting down the trees to saving them.
Soon she discovers a hidden world, and among the people who live there, she finds love. But as tensions between her conservation efforts and her community rise, the people she once called family become her biggest adversaries.
Decades later, recent graduate, Maxine, sets out in her van to figure out the next steps in life. Along the way, she discovers a journal that Sara hid away. Through its entries, Maxine learns of an underground world where people float and trees talk.
Although It sounds like a fantasy, she feels the truth in the journal's words. But there's only one way to know for sure. Maxine must uncover what happened to Sara. Could she learn to do what Sara did and find a place where she belongs?
This book will take you on a mystical journey that you've never imagined before. The characters will pull you into their story. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
I love to read about others who talk to trees because I listen to them also. I loved the references to nature and descriptions of the trees, bushes, and berries. It brings me to unfamiliar places where I wish to roam but haven't had the courage and bravery to do. Its about following your heart, which more people need to do.
I don’t typically read fantasy, although maybe I’d coin a new term for this, maybe eco-fantasy. And I enjoyed it a lot. Anyone who spends time in the woods can relate to the main characters, Max & Sara. I’ll definitely be talking with the trees on my next hike. And listening for their answers.
Loved the concept and the idea about talking to trees because I believe this is possible, too. Great writing at times but not so grassy at other times. There was no real weaving a ll together for a powerful ending. Just kind of meh. Great potential here, though. I would give this author another chance.
This author badly needs a good editor, and maybe, some more writing courses, definitely more practice before she is ready for publication. I hate to disparage a new writer, but....
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I feel as though my soul lead me to it. I could even see myself doing the things that Sara and Maxine had done. I believe that we are now living on the precipice of the birth of the New TRUE Earth and this is exactly what each of us should be doing, being trued to our authentic Self and the gifts that came with us. Whether this story is true or not is irrelevant, what matters is what you can allow yourself to believe. I for one, choose to believe. The time has come to make beautiful, pure and loving magic together. Keep writing! I am a true fan.
I am a true believer that there is more to the natural world than most humans want to admit. I feel a connection to trees that is hard to explain. This book made me feel that there may be others who feel the same. Sadly, humans can't get all t with each other let alone open themselves up to the possibility of there being more to our world than they can see or understand.
It might have been a good book, just not for me. I was looking for nature/talking with trees/ecological philosophy and instead I got fantasy and time travel. Because I do talk with trees and it grounds me and its safe. This book was the opposite. I skim read the last 2/3 of book, looking to see if it got better. It didn't. But of you like fantasy, this book had plenty of it.
I’m not crazy💜 I talk to trees all the time and I hear their messages. Nice to know I’m not alone. This story rings true in ones heart. I great read, pulls you away from the businesses of life.
Beautiful fantasy book — yet is it fantasy? Loved the connection between the main character and her family and nature. I do believe the trees and so much of nature has so much to teach us if we only listen and stop all the chatter
Although this book might be termed sci fi, I think it is a brilliant reflection of life, energy work and healing. I "got it" on a cellular level as I often walk in nature and connect to the trees and other living beings. It is one I will read again.
DNF after 15 chapters. Unbearable. I wanted nature, trees, animals, maybe some magical realism. I got an author who seemed like a 14 year old on mushrooms. Oh, and an audiobook narrator that was the absolute most annoying I have ever heard and I listen to hundreds of audiobooks.
This was a good story. The writing was a little awkward and repetitive, but for a first book, the message was there, and most characters were well done.
Very interesting story and characters. Great read for anyone that feels drawn to nature and the responsibility for leaving it better than you found it.
