Everything you want to know about mummies - what they are, what happens to the organs, how they were wrapped, what happens at funerals. This is a popular topic which many children find fascinating - did you know that cheaper mummies could be made by injecting the body with cedar oil which turned the insides to a liquid that subsequently drained out through the bottom!

Aimed at 7 - 9 year olds, the illustrations are intriguing and add detail to the text. The reader isn't overloaded with information and the whole process from death to discovery is explained.

Great addition to the primary school library, especially if Egyptians are on the curriculum.

This is the kind of educational book I would've loved as a kid. Lots of illustrations and short descriptions get to the heart of what mummification was really like. Also covers topics of tomb robbing, famous mummies, and animal mummies. Worth the read for any kid who is curious about the ancient world of mummies!
