Too energetic, too distracted, too exhausting. He’s given up his search for the perfect Daddy and moved to help his brother Hayley run his shop. The mysterious man in the shadows might be Jayme’s perfect type but he’s done dating. Until the man steps out of the shadows and starts to take over Jayme’s life, in all the best ways. But there is more to Lance than his gentle hands and quiet confidence. Can Jayme get past the danger than comes with being called Lance’s kitten?
The Daddy
He waited, he watched, and now it was time to claim his boy.
The pieces have fallen in place and Lance’s new life has begun. He has a house, a new job, all he needs now is his boy at his side. He’d known that Jayme was his from the first time he laid eyes on the bundle of energy. Bringing Jayme into his world is dangerous but being without Jayme might destroy Lance.
*This book contains MM sexual content (men having sex with each other), age gap, Daddy/ boy relationship, and kitten play. This book is an exploration of a relationship between two (Male) consensual adults that are looking for love and acceptance. All characters are over the age of consent. No cheating or cliffhangers.
I see what people mean, these stories are now about hitmen apparently. Really nice, sweet, gay, Daddy hitmen. So yes, this is still a super fluffy story, no angst, no drama, just two people perfect for each other. I definitely still enjoyed this story but I miss something about Baby Boy and Pretty Baby, maybe it's just the good old fashioned vanilla daddy/boy stories 😛.
This series certainly has changed since we were first introduced to Jace and Avery. While I am liking the darker element of these books, I do miss some of the lighter side of them.
Jayme was an absolute doll in this. Insecure and sure that he will be too much for any Daddy, he has a hard time believing Lance will keep him long term. Watching Jayme grow into his relationship with Lance was really lovely. Lance was slightly stiff for me. I had a hard time really connecting with him for most of this book. While I really liked how he and Jayme were together, Lance’s motives weren’t all the believable.
I enjoyed meeting the rest of Lance’s team and am really looking forward to Sammy and Creed’s story. The biggest bummer of the book for me was the abundant editing errors throughout. Incorrect words, names switches and incorrect punctuation plagued the book horribly. Even the blurb has an editing error. It was all very distracting. I am hoping this is corrected going forward.
Overall, I liked the book, but I could have loved it with some better editing and more character development for Lance.
This was a cute addition, I've been waiting for Jayme's book and I'm digging the little group of assassin daddies. But there were so many spelling/grammar errors. For a couple pages the names of the characters were switched the whole time, and at another point the same character name was used for both the MCs. It was distracting.
So I read these books because I was overwhelmed and couldn't really process new information and these books are perfect because they require no brain cells to read. They are very underdeveloped and easy reads that I will not reread and I probably wouldn't recommend but they also aren't awful I guess.
The series starts out with these three best friends and all three of them find their happily ever afters with Daddy/boy relationships. Then all of a sudden the 4th and 5th book have Hitman as the main characters and you just get really confused. These books suffer from a lack of editing and even the ones that say they have been professionally re-released and edited still have multiple errors in grammar and name switching etc.
My other big issue with these was the possessive nature of all of the daddies. Like in the first book the guy says that he's claiming this random stranger and not letting him go and that is not cute or sexy. That is a red fucking flag. This attitude happens throughout every single book and especially the last two with the Hitman main characters. They're basically soft snuggly cinnamon roll Hitman but like what does that even mean.
I had the biggest issues with the third book because the author makes a no at the beginning that she cut out multiple more intense/serious scenes because it was 20/20 and she didn't think that it was appropriate whatever, it actually ruined the book. It didn't make any sense for our main characters to not have any sort of seriousness when both of them had some serious trauma or things happening in their lives.
I realize that I said these books aren't awful at the beginning of my review and I don't know if that's quite true because obviously I have a lot of negative things to say. These books aren't good but they aren't the worst books I've ever read. I mean I read all five of them so do with that what you will 😅 I probably won't read anything else by this author unless I'm super desperate for a no thinking book.
I'm giving up on this author. I don't know if they are churned out too quickly and I can let a few errors go but this was riddled, like other books. I kept track of them and "doted all day long, never. far from him" Why is there a period? Jayme called Jayne. "he might he the stupidest". A hard return at the end of sentences, starting mid-sentence as a new indented paragraph. "you look sexy being a domestic" I think it's meant to be all domestic because A domestic is different. Being "in route" instead of "en route". Just so many simple lazy errors. From Dictionary.com people sometimes mistakenly think that the phrase is spelled in route or on route. But the correct spelling is en route."
The story itself was okay. Kind of creepy hitman stalker decides to bring new boy into the biz. This goes back to an early 20's year old with parents who had been married 50 years. Which means unless she got married at 16, she was probably near 50 when she had more kids? Just not logical. So while they are easy fluffy reads (although this one has a rather gruesome subplot), I'm just going to steer clear.
Others may be able to overlook these errors and I'm usually pretty good with one or two but when it's 10-15, that's just too many for me.
Jayme is tired of being told he is too much to handle. He has too much energy, is too distracted and is just too plain exhausting. He has given up trying to find a perfect Daddy and has moved to help his brother Hayley run his shop. The mysterious man in the shadows might be his perfect type but he is done with dating until the man steps out of the shadows and starts to take over Jaime's life in all of the best ways. But there is more to Lance than his gentle hands and quiet confidence - can Jayme get past the danger that comes from being called Lance's kitten? Lance waited and watched and now it is time to claim his boy. Lance has a house and a new job and all he needs now is his boy at his side. He's known Jayme was his from the first time he laid eyes on the bundle of energy - bringing him into his world is dangerous by being with him might destroy Lance.
I loved this story with the way that Lance cared enough to find a unique way to control Jayme's energy and find out how to get him much calmer. The fact that he found a way to help him to integrate into Lance's work in such a way that he was safe and in touch meant a great deal to them both and was a perfect solution. The way that being a kitten was the perfect solution to getting rid of this energy and quieting his mind was genius and a perfect example of what a great Daddy Lance was for him. Easy to read, feel and understand. This book contains mature MM content in a BDSM-like DDLB relationship with some kitten play.
Overall, I liked this story. I believe that is 100% due to Jaymie and the fact that I've become invested in the series. But sadly, the editing is worse than the one before, and before, and... There are multiple instances of character confusion, missing words, and misspelled words. I'll send the author my comments directly because I believe she has great potential and I don't need to go on and on here.
On the story side, Jaymie was his bouncy self but with a serious side too. I did have some issues with the way his daddy and his "coworkers" (for lack of a better term) handled the rescue
The darker the story, the harder it is to picture the daddy as a sweet man capable of loving his boy and the more difficult it is to write the details needed to keep readers from wanting to send the MC to jail. This author is approaching that fine line and I'm not sure I'll keep going as the future MCs all seem to be more violent than the last two we met.
I'll be around to see what the author moves on to because, as I said in my last review, I enjoy her storytelling. We'll see what the future holds.
So, in my last review I said that that book might be my new favorite one of the series. I might have jumped the gun a bit! This book has not only the Daddy/boy dynamic but it actually delves into the world of this band of hitmen and gives us a real thrilling ride. Bad boys are one of my jams and this book just ticked so many boxes! Jayme is an adorable bundle of energy and watching how his Daddy Lance navigates helping him find his niche in kink was totally sweet! Getting glimpses if the rest of the team gives me hope for more books following these characters. I loved this book so much!
*I'm still really disappointed in the editing job because there are just far too many errors. Hopefully the author will take another look because I'd really hate for readers to be put of by something that is easily fixable. I'm still giving it 5* stars because I enjoyed the story that much!

I enjoyed Jayme and Lance’s story. Jayme is an insecure, klutzy, fun-loving bundle of energy and Lance…isn’t. So, of course, they are perfect for each other.
It’s interesting how the tone of the books have shifted from light and airy in the first few books to dark and edgy in the more recent ones. Somehow the author makes it work and even makes the connection amongst all the various characters seem plausible.
The only reason I didn’t give this book a full five stars is because of some significant grammar errors throughout the book, including switching of character names, which drew me out of my reading headspace on occasion. Regardless, I’m looking forward to Creed and Sammy’s story!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ His Boy is lively, emotional, and full of spark. Jayme’s energy leaps off the page, his mix of chaos and sweetness making him impossible not to adore. Lance, with his quiet confidence and hidden danger, is the perfect balance to Jayme’s boundless enthusiasm. Together, they create a dynamic that feels electric and deeply loving, exploring trust and care in equal measure.
What makes His Boy shine is its sense of joy and devotion. The relationship between Lance and Jayme grows through playfulness and honesty, reminding the reader that love can be as fun as it is profound. The writing feels fresh and tender, and the world Steller has built continues to expand with warmth and familiarity.
I really wanted to like this book and it eventually picked up about half way through which was a relief but the amount of editing errors about killed me. The use of the wrong MCs name, incorrect spelling of the names - Lane and Jayne, and other simple words being spelled incorrectly. Holy cow.... I am not one to usually care about a few errors because it happens but I almost had to DNF because of it. If you don't have an editor, believe me that there are a ton of readers out there who would be happy to read your books before it's live to help spot these things.
Wow i just am loving these books, especially with these dangerous men proving that they are soft underneath their exterior as far as their boys are concerned. And Lance knew just how to handle Jaman, i loved how he knew how to handle his over active mind, and that no matter how long it took him to prove to his boy that he loved him he would do it every day. And that is devotion, so beautiful. That is why i just loved loved loved this story, it just took my breath away they were so good together. So for all those who love m/m with daddies that are hard this one is so recommended and i know you will just love it.
Jayme is first introduced in book 4 as Hayley's brother. But they are nothing alike. Jayme is full of energy and can't seem to turn off his brain. Lance is a trained killer who has been patiently waiting to claim Jayme but first he had to make himself dead. When Lance finally claims Jayme the heat is on. Lance proves he sees Jayme and his flaws but still wants to be his Daddy. Jayme learns about Lance's other life and decides to help him. This series continues with Creed next. I highly recommend reading this book.
I really enjoyed this addition to the series, the only reason my rating isn’t higher is because of the small amount of errors. I can deal with spelling mistakes but the mix up of names really threw me and pulled me out of the story. The book is great though and I enjoyed getting to know Jayme and Lance and seeing their relationship unfold and their particular kink was something I hadn’t read before but was fun to read and very sweet.
I knew Mac was a former assassin so the darkness in this book was not a surprise. I loved how Lance helped Jayme find his inner kitten and helped him calm his racing thoughts. Loved Lance's group and Jayme made him see that they were a kind of family. And I loved that Jayme realized that Lance had never been loved and was able to show him that he loved him. Can't wait for Creed and Sammy's story.
This series of books revolve around an unlikely group of Daddies and their Boys. Each book stands alone yet cleverly integrated with the others in the five book series. The characters are complex but love and caring threads through them all. It makes a thoroughly enjoyable read. Many times thought provoking yet written with warmth. With winter approaching these will brighten any dull day. A pleasure to read.
5 stars… Swoon. Lance is hot hot hot. Never read a kitten play book (didn’t know it existed tbh) but I think I like it even better than puppy play IMO. I really am enjoying these hit men and I’ll have to go back and read this whole series and hopefully there is more good stuff by this author because I am enjoying the smut! Very kinky stuff going on here.
I was excited to read the book for the mysterious Assassin that popped up - Lance. Lance and Jayme were a great pair as he knew just how to take care of his Kitten. Jayme struggled to know that people were staying around just for him and liked him the way he was and Lance more than proved that.
Another good read in this series. I will say I was hoping for more Kitten play.
Fun murder swoon book with Daddy kink. The number of typos on Kindle were frustrating though.
In this you'll find: ✨An assassin with a hidden sweet side ✨Hyper focused attention/obsession ✨A hyper boy with confidence issues ✨Daddy/Boy relationship ✨Kitten play ✨ Secondary characters who are Littles/Middles/Princesses ✨Child abduction & abuse ✨Serial killer father ✨Vigilante violence ✨Found family ✨A HEA
I really enjoy Athena's books and this one was no exception. The kitty play was a nice surprise and I could have done with more of it. I also wanted Jayme to be more if his normal, clumsy, excitable self. It was talked about a lot and we saw glimpses of it but I wanted more, just to show Lance being patient with him. Can't wait to see who gets the next book!
I don't really like giving 2 stars but this book had so many typos/mixed up names it did my head in!!
AND it gets very dark quite unexpectedly which threw me and I don't have triggers!
The others in the series were reasonably sweet with some angst moments but daddy / boy books...this one turned me off the author completely and I won't be reading any more of their works!!
I thought Mac and Hayley were awesome but Jayme and Lance were even better. I loved getting to see this world of hit man and each is finding his boy. From the first book to this on, book 5, they just keep getting better and better. Can wait to read Sammy and Creed's story.
Loved the story, but there were entire paragraphs that were unreadable because of wrong words, missing words and nonsense.
If you can't get a paid editor, at least get a beta reader. I'm almost dreading the next book because instead of getting better, each book has a new level of sloppiness.
