Has changed the way I approach my everyday life!

I’ve underlined something on almost every page. This book is giving me a game plan to be more intentional about goals and to start believing that I really CAN be who God made me to be.

Run don’t walk and get a copy or two of this book. Amber Selking is a gift to us all - so excited to see years of her hard work and research be manifested into this amazing book.

Some really great exercise is why I have this book 4 stars. I am a sucker for self help books and as I try to learn platform tennis I looked for something to help my mental game written by a woman. The awareness and motivation exercises were outstanding. I loved her WIN philosophy for focusing what’s impossible now and started using it immediately. Self talk is great to control the message we send ourselves.

I have cleared some space in my bookshelf for 'Winning the Mental Game'. I believe it is worth to keep it close to seek guidance in order to cultivate improvement and a more productive mindset.

In this playbook, Dr. Amber Selking provides a well-structured guide with some clues to help recognize and modify negative patterns or unproductive habits, work on awareness, confidence, find motivation, and control attention.

Each of the eight proposed ‘plays’ is accompanied with doable exercises eminently practical, some more promising or elaborate. Additionally, they are complemented with QR links to online videos, podcasts, articles, .... And even if many examples are based on sports people, in my view, it is also addressed to the general public.

Personally, after practicing some tasks for just a few days, I have the impression that it will be useful for self-improvement in the long term.

I would like to thank to Dr. Amber Selking, NetGalley and Amplify Publishing for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Dr Selking provides the reader eight natural steps to higher performance. She considers each step a play. With a background in athletics she gravitated to Sports Psychology. Her own athletic career cut short by injury as one door closes another opens. The eight plays include: Adversity, Motivation, Confidence, Intensity Management, Attentional Control, Emotional Mastery, Mental Rehersal and Routines. In each she provides a short analysis of something she's dealt with in her practice. She than builds that the meaning of the subject, it's applicability to life and an excercise to become better aware and how each step builds upon the previous steps. In each case, the more one practices the better one gets. In her practice she's worked to sports teams across the nation. I think her text would be of value to coaches, teachers, managers and individuals looking to improve themselves or individuals within organizations.
