After Christmas and Valentine’s Day, Elmer is back for yet another holiday experience….
Elmer Robbins has somehow managed to survive his new existence as a Dungeon Core, despite everything working against him. After first creating a Christmas-themed section and then a Valentine’s Day-themed series of rooms, he began to acquire enough Life Force from unfortunate Adventurers dying inside of his dungeon, allowing him to repeatedly increase his Core Level. Now, as he advances yet another Level, he can feel the barrier inside of his Core becoming thinner, which is bringing him closer to being reunited with his wife’s soul.
Unfortunately, his progress is slow and progress is starting to become stagnant, as his dungeon isn’t as much of a draw as it once was. To encourage additional, stronger Adventurers to delve through his dungeon, he needs a new attraction. As he is a Holiday-themed dungeon, he has the perfect idea for a brand-new section: Easter.
But will jellybeans, chocolate eggs, marshmallow chicks, and the Easter Bunny be enough to entice a whole new quality level of Adventurer? Or will it draw the wrong kind attention? It’s time for Elmer to take that gamble, otherwise he’ll never get a chance to free his Mary from her imprisonment.
Easter Core is a short, 38k-word novella set in a unique universe that contains LitRPG and Dungeon Core elements such as stats and character progression. Contains no foul language, explicit sexual content, or harems.
I really didn’t know what to expect with Easter being the holiday but I enjoyed it. I’m waiting to see what occurs with the evil villain that we were introduced to.
Elmer’s first two sections are complete and he has been planning on how to set up for his next holiday themed section. It will be something to see what the locals think of Easter! Good news is that his favorite group just got back in the dungeon town.
I have really enjoyed these little holiday novels! It’s so fun to see all of the decorations that are everywhere now be used as dungeon mobs, traps, or loot. Just like the Christmas Core, the Easter Core focuses on the commercial aspects of the holiday.
Easter Core is another great addition to the Holiday Core novella series and also a nice addition to Jonathan's overall catalog. I thoroughly enjoyed the monster and room designs in this one, very reminiscent of my childhood. This book has the most life-threatening suspense and introduces a long-lost class to the system. Absolutely loved this story and recommend it and every book in the Holiday Dungeon Core series...and really every Jonathan Brooks book! Audio Version: Miles Meili never disappoints and did another great job with this title.
Easter Core wasn’t bad, but it didn’t land as well for me as the first two books. The random villain felt a little disconnected from the story, and I really missed the stronger ties to the high-level adventurers that made Christmas Core and Valentine Core more engaging.
It feels like it might be setting up for future books, but I needed more development throughout this story to feel truly invested. That said, the overall vibe is still light and creative, and fans of the series will probably find things to enjoy. Just not as strong a showing this time around.
This series of short novels is so cool to read! The main character us Elmer, a human reborn as a dungeon core, and he creates a new kind of dungeon. A holiday dungeon, where he uses typical holiday icons to create dungeon minions and traps. Each book covers a different holiday - so far it is Christmas, Valentines Day and now Easter. Can't wait to see what Mr. Brooks picks for the next holiday.
I love how invested in this story I am. I’ve been reading them to coincide with the actual holidays which is fun. I didn’t expect for there to be so much actual story/plot to these books. There are so many characters I love, and others I hate, and Elmer’s holiday creations are just so much fun. I love seeing how they minions turn out and the powers/moves they get. I am very eager to learn more about the character that was introduced this book!
Elmer completes the third holiday section of his dungeon; it's the Easter floor! Better still his favorite group of adventurers have returned, with two additional members, to try their mettle in the new addition.
This little novella is an egg-splosive read, so rabbit while you can!
It’s a fun lighthearted quick romp of a read. It progresses fast, has a decent world build, and is entertaining. It’s fun to see holidays turned dungeon. Plus now we have a villain. Yay! Enjoy
Quite fun! Now I'm greatly looking forward to seeing what Elmer's next Holiday choice will be!
May day? Independence day? 🇨🇦 Thanksgiving? All Hallows? Gunpowder plot day aka Guy Fawkes day? 🇺🇸 Thanksgiving? Or the potential Temporal mayhem of New Years!
Another solid entry in The Holiday Dungeon Core series. Elmer sees some familiar faces as his dungeon is expanded to include Easter, to go along with Christmas and St. Valentine's Day. But, he also faces a new threat that even Keebles can't explain and doesn't know how to defeat.
I like this book and I look forward to the next book in the series. Like the other two books in this series this book was a short but sweet dungeon core normal.
This book had a few plot twist, like the two new team members to the main group. I thought she was an automaton of the rune guy, but I was surprised to find out what she really was. Read it to find out.
