The Seven Virtues #7

A Sellsword's Hope: Book Seven of the Seven Virtues

Rate this book
The final battle has come.

Grinner and his conspiracy to overthrow Perennia have been defeated, but victory came at a high cost. The alliance suffered losses it could ill afford, for the true enemy still lies in Baresh, growing stronger with each day that passes.

Leading the combined armies of three kingdoms, Aaron and his companions march to the city, but even with such a force, even with the power of the Virtues, victory is anything but assured.

For when blades are drawn, when battle begins, the only certainty is blood.

Aaron knows this, just as he knows the terrible odds he faces. Yet, he is not alone. His allies march with him—creatures out of myth and legend, cut-throats and thieves, sailors and smugglers, and the mysterious Akalians who have finally chosen to step out of the shadows and into the light.

But the ancient mage has allies of his own, creatures endowed with speed and strength greater than any man, bereft of any human feeling, including pain. But there is strength in emotion, a power that even the thousand-year-old mage, even creatures out of legend, cannot stand against.

For with emotion comes valor and courage, honor and duty.

With emotion comes hope.

What a gripping conclusion to a great series of books. Jacob Peppers has built an interesting world and taken his characters to the brink over and over. This book was no exception. The stakes were high, the tension built, and the conclusion satisfying.

Many characters returned in interesting ways, some of them surprising, and it was nice that even some of the smaller players in the series had a role in the end. Peppers is a great author and I'd highly recommend this series to anyone who's a fan of fantasy and action.

Unlike many of the current reviews, I'm not a beta reader and didn't receive an advance review copy. I've just really enjoyed the series and pretty much hawked on every release over the last several months since discovering the author. Give the Sellsword series a read, it's great.

A GREAT READ!!!!!

This journey with Jacob Peppers has been one hell of a amazing fantasy ride. I am happy to say that is one of the best series I've read in awhile. An it has been my pleasure to read. The ups an downs in The Sellsword's Hope was more then expected. Others taking the role of the brave an stepping through the door before the weak an hero's are made. The stakes are high. Will Aaron an the others make it through with there Virtues or will the monster kill them all an take what he wants to be a God an rule the world. Aaron will have to see the way it began an can he make the right choses do what's right. In the end all we have is hope an hope is what gets us through the day. The out come of the end was a surprise with the little show of what was left of the Little Balls of Light in those who cared them made me smile. Mr. Peppers this was a lot of fun to read an some tears fell along the way. What great bunch of characters with a lot of talent some ruff edges but with the care for all . With a smile I saw maybe just maybe someday you will touch on them again.
A must read give it a go. You will not be disappointed.

And with the seventh and final book in this series, the story finally comes to a close and what a fantastic close it is. For all my complaints about the last several books not really going anywhere, this takes every thread and brings them together in a fantastic and action packed conclusion.

Aaron and his companions have finally reached the ultimate battle. The troops are on the move, Balesh is to be taken and Kevlane is to be killed. Only things are never going to be simple or easy when Kevlane has an army of monstrosities with supernatural strength and speed at his fingertips. Only the combined forces of all the Virtues and their wielders will have a chance at stopping the threat once and for all.

As per usual, the characters here are fantastic and as relationships are stretched thin in the face of the danger they now face head on, the individuals we have spent so much time with face difficult challenges. But in addition to the 'main' characters, we see familiar faces return and each has a part to play; even if it's only for a handful of pages.

All in all, an action packed, heart-stopping ride to the finale that was well worth the time spent engaged in this world.

Queen Adina has retaken the city from Grinner’s control, but now they have to clean up the mess he left before they can begin their march toward Baresh and Kevlane’s creatures. The town is full of Grinner’s men in hiding, the supplies they’d gathered are gone and some of their allies are leaving.

Once the two-pronged battle and infiltration start going, this became very interesting. But before that I could have done without the going character to character describing each’s emotions, in long detail, as their particular scene is performed. I like knowing what’s happening and some of the atmosphere, but this has too much detail. Best was the little boy on the wall. That made sense.

Fave scenes: Adina telling off Faden Arkrest, Gryle’s fight with the creature, the boy on the wall and Beautiful entering the chain house.

Aaron is now leading an army that has no chance against the Mag that has created so much havoc in the world but there is always Hope. Without Hope there is nothing.

As Kevlane's army grows ever larger with beings that have no right to be on the earth Aaron must bring all his friends with their Virtues together to give them the greatest chance of winning the war. And, as it turns out, Aaron, with all the Virtues at his disposal, is the only one strong enough to bring Kevlane to his knees but there is still a high price to be paid by those who help.

A pretty amazing ending to a long story. Loved it!!!

Fantastic!

I always wait to write a review until I've finished reading the series. So, this is about the series as a whole. From the first page of the first book I was captured, completely and wholly. Jacob Peppers is a master story teller and you will not be disappointed if you read the Seven Virtues series. You will find it hard to lay it down as you've been swept into a world filled with light and darkness, humor and sadness, wit and cunning, betrayal and heartfelt loss. Yet it is a story that will fill your world for the time it takes to read. Read. This. Series. Bravo Mr. Peppers, bravo!

complete virtue

the push to bring all the armed 'services' into Harrah has begun. Asian has returned to Perrina to gather the troops and insure that supplies are available. and the attacks continue. Aaron 'a fight is within, trying to save Tyina.

I loved this series and was sorry to see it end. it was wonderful to crawl into these characters and make their journeys with them. and to those who stories ended too early and left a tiny hole, it is good to know that the gods shared them for awhile. you must come on this journey, too

This ends a special and well written series from an excellent Author.
Well written, visually clear and precise, the plot keeps the reader involved and entertained throughout.
The main protagonist is a reluctant engaging hero, that has been accompanied by a host of vivid and interesting secondary characters that have supported and enhanced the story and the complex plot to the very end.
Wonderful reading! Recommended!
I received a copy from the Author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Well worth all 7 books

Each was just long enough / short enough with enough good beginning-progress the story-and conclude. The story itself is great, characters as well. I loved the ending. The only reason i didn’t say 5 stars is I found myself “speed reading” between the character dialogue b/c I was simply ready to conclude things - so perhaps I missed some of the setting/emotion, but I got the gist. Thank you very much for writing. Nice job.

Perfect end of the series!

Yup, it's exactly the ending this series deserves. It's worth a try, even if you don't really like HF.

Overall, it's a fast-paced series, with really cool characters and even some love stories, so a little bit of everything. The characters are amazingly written, it's one of Jacob Peppers' amazing skills, and at the moment, he's one of my favorite Fantasy authors. He really has a great way of creating and giving life to stories!

Wow what a show stopper. Epic battles and characters that keep you engrossed.
The finale of this series is full of the characters we have been reading about all through the series, on there way finally to do battle with the mad sorcerer.
More twist and turns to keep you guessing about who is going to die next or not.

I received an ARC copy of this book.

A wonderful ending

A great ending to an exciting and yet thoughtful story. I will miss these characters and look forward to the next story as well. And yes, Wendell was one of my favorites as well.

One of my favorite “Wendel perspectives” in the story (which can be right or wrong) is when the Wendel and Thom characters first meet. In this case, very funny.

Excellent series

This was a great adventure and the evolution of Aaron was inspiring on many levels. I laughed out loud, I cried, I was angry, I was sad, I was human. I only stopped to leave a rating for this book because I could barely take a breath between books. Peppers Is a talented writer and I can't wait to read more.

Hope for a better future

This was a great ending to the story. Wendell is hilarious, Aaron comes full circle in his journey, and the bad guy gets what's coming to him. The book gives hope and also develops the characters without killing all of them and ruining the bond the reader has with them. Well worth the read.

Excellent

It is with heavy heart that I finish the last volume of The Seven Virtues.
Mr Peppers has developed these characters in such a way that it's impossible for the reader not to feel their pain or joy.
I haven't read anything quite like this in a long time and I am looking forward to his future works.

All You Need in a Fantasy Series

A well-defined series, with strong characters, dialogue, and plot. The Seven Virtues concept is a novel one that permits and justifies a deeper development of the supporting cast than is usual. Jacob Peppers is a writer head and shoulders above the oh-so-many content to recycle familiar tropes and cliches.

I like to keep these things short and to the point.... I thought this was a satisfying ending to the series. To the point where I finished this in under 24 hours. If you liked the previous books, you will definitely enjoy this one.

Great story

One of the better stories i have read in awhile. My only complaint about the books are that everyone seems to always be winking at each other.....not sure why. Otherwise a great read!

Nice series

This was a nice final book to a pleasant series. There were enough twists and turns to keep my attention and the baddies were bad enough but I don't think it qualifies as a dark story of nine of the good guys die. It was a good read and I had a good time.

What a satisfying ending.
I knew the way it needed to go, it was pretty clear to me but I didn't know how it would get there, how it would really unfold.
It did so beautifully!
And the ending... it left me absolutely satisfied and content. I definitely loved this series!
