Y'all... did I just read my first AI written book?
If it's not AI then this was slap dashed together by a "team" with no editor or agent, because lemme tell you, this thing was BIZARRE.
It earned the 1 star by at least being somewhat as advertised, the breathing exercises and music calmed me down, then the story would start on a beach, all good, getting sleepy and then...
"The sand is soft, like a baby bunny beneath your toes"
Forget falling asleep fast, I am jolted WIDE AWAKE because WHY AM I STEPPING ON A BABY BUNNY??
There were things like this constantly, I would start to drift off and then some odd phrasing or inhuman analogy would happen in the story and I was wide awake again. I was constantly completely distracted by elements of the story that don't sound like anything a real life human has ever said?? Anyway so then I had very strange dreams and did not sleep well at all so I don't know what this book thinks it's doing.
Can you count a book as “read” if the whole point is to put you to sleep?! My free subscription to a meditation app expired and so I searched my library for something to replace. I’ve also used podcast stories but I like to mix it up. I won’t say this is the best I’ve tried but I did like it. Again… I can’t comment on the stories but they’re told in a soothing voice.
I’ve also checked out Winnie the Pooh audiobooks from my library to use at night… because seriously, what is more soothing than Pooh?
My bunny's sick, so I woke up at 1am to check on her and could not fall back asleep. So, I downloaded this audiobook from the library and I think it helped Pixi and I both to relax back into a nice mild slumber.
The audiobook is soothing, definitely helps with going to sleep. However I found some sections didn’t really make sense, almost like a bunch of words were just jumbled together. I thought the stories would have some meaning behind it but this is more along the lines of “breathe in…. Breathe out” and “imagine you’re walking at the beach” etc.
I can usually listen to an audiobook and fall asleep in a reasonable amount of time, but this book makes me fall asleep faster.
The stories are really short and simple...they kind of make me laugh because at one point, the narrator says "the coconut milk is more refreshing than water." Or something like that. That wasn't my experience when I tried the type of coconut she was describing. It was downright disgusting! However, I digress...
The stories are meant to make you fall asleep, and they do. At least for me. There are only 3 stories, repeated 3 different times, to 3 different background music scores. The 2nd score did not help me fall asleep, but put the story to one of the other 2 scores...and it did.
This had to be written by AI. Horrible 😂 Direct quote: “you have never seen a blue flower quite like this. It is large. The size of a basketball” 🏀 so many jarring descriptions that actually pull you out of a sleepy state. I mean, it is sort of dreamlike in the sense that it is nonsensical so I guess that gets some sleepy points? 🤔 Alas, I would highly not recommend. Lolol
I ignore reviews because most of the time my opinion is different from everyone else’s. Not this time! This book is only a few stories basically on repeat, told in a voice to make you fall asleep or go stir crazy! The baby (I tried it on him) went crazy and started screaming! Good call!
The ambiance is nice and the voice is soothing enough to fall asleep to, but goodness the stories are terrible. More than once, I thought I lost my place in the audio book because the stories are so similar they might as well be the same story.
Not quite sure how to review it. Was it not the best writing and very repetitive? Yes. Did it put me to sleep? Yes. So, it did complete its purpose lol.
I liked that it helped me fall asleep, I was pretty disappointed that it was only 3 guided meditations that just repeat to make the “book” seem longer.
I can't really count it as a book I read. I listened to the audiobook multiple times and dozed off before I could get to the crux of even one story. I must say that I got really good rest compared to the past few days hence the 4 stars (deducting one as I want to nitpick on being unable to listen to even one story completely). All I remember is that the first story's beginning likely briefly mentioned about breathing and feeling calm. I'll have to get the ebook from my local library to read the plot of the stories to comment on the stories besides the calming exercises. 😄 I'll update the review and the rating once I've finished reading the ebook.
