Summoned after an unfortunate accident in hopes they could protect the world from a coming threat, Ben and his classmates are gifted another chance at life. With fame and fortune promised to whoever is willing to fight for the sake of the world it doesn't seem like a bad deal, there's just one small problem. Ben wasn't blessed with any magic or combat skills, just crafting and enchanting. While the skills themselves aren't useless they also aren't seen as being necessary to the coming war. well, 6000 pages later and I've finally caught up to the chapters being published weekly. it's been a crazy journey to get to this point but honestly I've really enjoyed this story so far.

The work does start out a bit rough (as is to be expected from most self pub works) but it does get better. it definitely stays a slow burn. I have to admit I do really enjoy that part.

While the MC is a craftsman, Ben tends to focus on smithing and enchanting the most. I wish there were more fiber arts. But that mostly seems to be because the author does not know much about cloth making in general.

I can't wait to see how this story will end. It's become quite large in stakes, but not that much bigger in scope, which is a difficult balance to walk.

Finally all caught up to current chapter of 903.

I love Chaotic Craftsman. I love everything about it. I want it to continue forever but also have all of it to be finished so I can immediately binge it.

Ben, our main character, is the definition of chaotic. And he’s a good person. He’s funny. He’s loyal. And I love him. I’ve loved his growth. I love his thought process. I love his achievements. I love his stubborn moments. He’s an all round extremely enjoyable character to follow.

Myriad, the said cube our chaotic craftsman Ben worships is another big love for me. I love his relationship with Ben, so, so much. They’ve grown together and have a hilarious and loving bond.

Thera, our double princess, is amazing as well. I love her growth, there is a massive sense of satisfaction watching her grow from someone who couldn’t control her magic to this awesome powerhouse. Everything about her is so well written, from all her family relationships and how they develop, to her character growth as she’s slowly able to build relationships after a lifetime of being held back by her passive magic, to her relationship with Ben.

I love the power system. I love the world. I love the universe. And the multiverse. I love the BBEG and the concept of the three waves of demons being an overarching threat. I love all the story arcs, and my god some of them stressed me out at two in the morning where I was too locked in to sleep. I love the slice of life chapters. I love all the side characters, even the ones I hate are so well written that hating them is fun.

It has a little bit of everything for every one at such a high quality level. I’m nervous and excited about what will happen next because there’s still so much space for this story to grow. Over 900 chapters and I wasn’t bored once.

This is a fantasy LitRPG series with isekai/portal and system elements with a focus on crafting. Ben and a few other humans are summoned to a fantasy world in order to help them fend off a future demon invasion. Ben has different stats/strengths with almost no fighting ability so he is ignored by the factions of the world. His real strength is crafting/enchanting along with his resistances but until he can progress he is not very useful. It was refreshing not having a LitRPG story where the protagonist is some kind of super fighter. This is a long progression story with many different arcs, found friends, and also an interesting system involving gods such as the cube mentioned in the title of the story.

As of March 2025 there are about 800+ chapters available on Royal Road and the story is ongoing. I read through them all in the course of a week and will probably be reading chapters piecemeal as they are released going forward.

The main character is given lots of freedom but is rather predictable and the story having few surprises or plot twists. This is especially true for the first few arcs of the story where the author is still developing as a writer. That said, the world is interesting enough and there is a decent amount of entertainment gained from the more “chaotic” nature of the protagonist.

S

This is not entirely my cup of tea, but for those who enjoy a classic progression fantasy that's not too generic, this is a must read.

Overall an amazing story so far and can't wait for the more that's too come.

i'm fine with slice of life .ability to actually envision isakied life in detail and build is not present at all

i'm fine with slow and boring .minimum level of writing ability .skipping needs a semi or below average paragraph to skip to,the writing feels below amateurish , amateurish would have been fine .this was mechanical

Review at Ch. 907: It reads like a book written for younger teenagers with cringey character interactions like the "let me use your body" scene. Also uses a lot of tropes. The System is nothing special and vague, making things develop according to the whims of the author. The MC does get very interesting powers and his personality is unique. The writing is error-prone, extremely plain and easy to read but occasionally has convoluted sentences as long as this paragraph. Humor is great, it's not too serious of a story.

Pretty much all arcs are fun even if they don't move the story forward, and the story does move at a snails pace. Whenever we stumble upon anything interesting in the main story it's over in an instance and instead we're back to focusing on grinding power-ups and side stories. I've read an insane amount of this story and we've gotten barely anywhere. I'm getting flashbacks to books 2-3 of MIL which was quite the drag as well but this is significantly worse. I guess I shouldn't expect more from a litrpg story.

Not my usual speed, but an excellent read, especially in the later arcs. Does a seriously solid slow burn romance, and has lovely pacing overall.

(using reads after the first to tag 5.5k pages per tick of things that aren't on goodreads, mostly RR serials)
