Anthology/Murder Mystery/Psychological Thriller 1. PALE FACE Detective Brockman moves to a beach town in Texas hoping to ease his stress after a hectic career in the big city. Little did he know this gruesome case would haunt him for the rest of his life.
2. SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY After being tied up and nearly murdered, Remi devotes her life to finding true revenge.
3. IDLE CONFESSIONS During a family gathering, grandpa Jeff is found dead…so many suspects and so much greed.
4. WASP When Marcos’s children were abducted, he was taken aback when he found out why they were taken and who was responsible. When the police gave up and would no longer help him find his children, the hunters became the hunted.
Some of you may be wondering why I have not provided more lengthy summaries for these thrilling novellas…I would be asking the same question. A single detail is already too revealing when working with a novella. I prefer to let you discover the excitement as the details unravel with each turning page. Warning: they are fast-paced, drama-filled, and have no time for wandering thoughts. You will not be disappointed.
(None of these stories depict the harming of animals.)
I read this collection of short stories/novellas over the course of a couple of days as I couldn’t put it down. The stories are fast-paced and well written, and will hook you from the outset. Weber is an exciting author and I look forward to reading more!
I enjoyed this little collection of short stories. They each have their own unique plots and characters. Despite being short stories, Weber was able to pack in a great deal of information, as well as bring each character to life in great detail with minimal pages. I was truly impressed with how she managed to capture everything I needed to know and more in so few pages. I would love to see a couple of these characters in a series. I read this in one afternoon and could not stop just turning page after page. My only complaint is that it all ended way too soon. I am anxiously awaiting a new release from Weber.
I was lucky enough to get a signed copy from the author herself. And it took merely a day to finish it. It was really a great quick read. The novellas were fresh and well written. They left me wanting more. I'd love to read more from the author ♥️.
What a fun book of short stories! One thing I'm quickly learning with other Indie authors, is to never go into anything with expectations. But with Pale Face, I really didn't know what to expect. I've read more short story compilations, just recently, than I ever have, it seems to be a big wave of the thing to do coming into the Indie world. I think my favorite, in this book, was Southern Hospitality, though all were quite unique. I really think Weber could take that short story and turn it into a bas @$$ full-sized novel. There's lots of room with that one to make is SUPER creepy and hit people in all the feels.
(3.5) I gave Pale Face and Idle Confessions 3 stars and Southern Hospitality and Wasp 4 stars rounding to a 3.5 stars. Southern Hospitality was my favorite, and it was the most psychologically disturbing. These short stories are fast-paced, quick reads with some serious conflicts, psychological drama, and trigger warnings.
Very fun short stories! I wish there was about 20% more in each of them. I loved how fast faced each story was. There were a couple of loose ends in a couple but I think that was the authors point - keeping you guessing. A fun day read!
This was really poorly written. A lot of misused words, typos, misspellings and grammar issues. I understand a few slip ups in books and that’s not an issue but I found mistakes on nearly every page.
Who doesn’t love a good story?! 4 fast-paced mystery thrillers with great storylines! My favorites were the second and fourth. Eager to see what this author does next!
