Jasmine was great, sassy, determined, very smart and strong. The banter she and Chase had was amazing.
The heroine had to deal with so many issues from her past that the romance between her and Chase was moderate and not the highlight of this story.
There were plenty of characters and their stories interconnected, that made this read overburdened.
However, it was very well written, yet (sadly) only from the heroine’s pov.

Wow, just wow. I loved this book so much that I read it in one sitting. Jasmine who has a dark secret from her childhood has trust issues and is afraid of opening herself up to Chase Hale who wants to be everything that Jasmine needs. It breaks my heart that Jasmine had to go through what she went through as a child and is still dealing with her struggles as an adult. She has is sexy and hella smart, and has done everything she can to make her adult life better. Then Mr. Dangerous Chase Hale walks into her life and completely turns her world upside down in a very good way. The banter between these two were absolutely amazing. I wanted to jump into the book and take a walk on the dangerous side with Mr. Dangerous Chase Hale myself. Chase ends up helping Jasmine to bring out the secret she has been hiding and at the same time shows her what true love and commitment is. There romance is a sweet one with a very happy ending. I highly recommend this book for everyone to read. I received this book as an arc for my honest review.

Fantastic, casual read
I never read fiction, let alone romance novels. A friend recommended this book to me and out of pure friend obligation, I picked it up.
And then I couldn't put it down. The use of allegory is surprisingly good for a romance novel. There is also a great level of intelligence in the story line that I found surprising. If you are sitting at home, it's raining, and you need some entertainment, this book is for you. So get a blanket and some tea.... *
*You could also read this book on a lounge chair at a beach. Just saying.

What an interesting book. For a first novel by this author it's truly astounded me. She has a very readable way of writing and the plot twists are astounding up until the very last page.
I was not expecting such a gritty book with excellent characters and storyline.
Not only is the book well written but has humour, and sass in equal measures. Our heroine is a strong woman but Chase, just wow, I want one of him!
Jasmine's back story is so sad and I felt so upset on her behalf even though she is of course a fictional character.
I just had to get to the end of this book, so hello 1am. (Sleep can be so overrated).
The secondary characters again managed to pull emotions out of me, I hated Helena and so wanted to punch Wayne but to trigger this level of emotion from me shows excellent writing skills.
As for the hot sex .........!

This has to be one of my favourite books ever so far.
It starts off as a horror, and you find yourself falling in love with the protagonist within the first few pages. As the book goes on you grow to love her sass, smart mouth, and quick thinking even more. She fights to hide herself so much that she forgets to live until someone reminds her how.
I honestly could not put the book down until I finished the damn thing.
I really hope this author writes many, MANY more books in her career, because I have absolutely fallen in love with their writing style.

I was expecting a sweet, typical love story. WOW! The storyline was absolutely captivating. It draws you in and holds you right up to the end. The book had it all... humor, pain, family dynamics, growth, redemption, and some plot twists that surprised me. Many lines had me guffawing while others had me identifying with Jasmine's pain. The book has depth with real life characters and relationships. I was totally invested in Jasmine and her journey. I could feel her anguish. I read it quickly because I wanted to know how it ended and then was sad when it did. I cannot wait for this author's second book. I received a free ARC copy in return for an honest review.

Oh my god, what have I read? This book is so good. When I signed up for this one, I thought I was going to read a beautiful hot dark romance. But it changed my thought from the very first page. It started with Lily getting abused by her sister Helena and her father. Then she ran away from this hell and
started living her life free from all these abuses. She changed her entire identity and started to live by Jasmine. She's now a software expert, it has always been her area of expertise. And as her escape from life, she gets involved with boys just to meet her physical demands.But does your past ever leave you? In this book, no it didn't. Her sister somehow found out about her and came to ask her to attend her wedding. Helena, her older sister, always abuse her, bully her and hate her.
She meets Chase in a very awkward situation and they both felt instant attraction towards each other which led Chase to chasing her a lot. But this time Jasmine didn't give herself despite being attracted.
Their relationship is the most beautiful thing in this book. Chase as a bad boy is so humble and polite to Jasmine. Even though they were about to keep this within physical involvement but it went beyond that and interestingly no one tells that to each other and no one realises too. Helena's wedding changed Jasmine's entire life. Her past whom she burried a long ago may disrupt her beautiful life now. Will she ever escape from this?
It became hard at one point to read this book because of all the trauma, all the truth coming into the lights. How would you feel when you get to know that your whole life was a lie? Yes that's what happened here. Just go and read this one.

This is a standalone Book and it is Jasmine (Lily) and Chase's story. After a had and brutal childhood Jasmine left, changed her name and never looked back and now she owns her own software business but she doesn't trust anyone and nobody knows anything about her past and that is just how she likes it. When she meets Chase things don't go well as she thinks that he is dangerous and she doesn't like the reaction that she has to him especially as he is a player but no matter how much she tries to avoid him he seems to pop up where she is but she needs to keep her distant from him as she can't let anyone in because it her past came out of could ruin her reputation and business and make things even more complicated. I really enjoyed reading this book with all it's twists and turns along the way and the characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start and I look forward to reading more book's in the future by Laila Amlani as this book was so well written and definitely worth reading.

I loved this book! The story line is excellent and engaging, with romance, sex and a bit of suspense/unknown that kept me engrossed until the last page. A wonderful story about overcoming family betrayals and broken-ness. The characters 'hooked' me emotionally and left me eager to know more before all was revealed. The author's use of wit/humor left me wanting more as the story unfolded. I hope to see additional books from Laila Amlani very soon!

OMG what can I say. It's fabulous. I couldn't put this book down. I read it in two days. The characters seem so real and every woman wants to have a man like Chase! From the very beginning you are drawn in from the dynamics of the two sisters. The story line flows so flawlessly, it's like you are there watching it happen. I didn't want the book to end it was so good. I had the privilege of reviewing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This must be the year for debut authors absolutely killing it because I’ve already read quite a few I’ve loved this year and with My Beautiful Dangerous, I’ve added yet another one. This book was so insanely good that I was sucked in right from the beginning and could not put it down until I finished.
Jasmine has this incredibly heartbreaking back story that we learn a little bit about in the beginning and it really dictates how she lives her life. She is brilliant and hilarious and her inner monologues never failed to crack me up. Despite all of that she is closed off and doesn’t really let anyone get close, let alone know the real her. And considering how horrible her sister Helena is, the way her father treated her while she was growing up, and that her mother abandoned them, it’s really not surprising that Jasmine is so closed off. Basically her entire family is horrible and she’s never known what it’s like to be wanted and loved, so when one Chase Hale enters the picture she keeps trying to push him away. However, Chase is one stubborn man and he’s determined to get Jasmine in his bed.
The chemistry between these two is just absolute fire and every time they are together their attraction to each other is palpable. I loved Chase’s persistence and protectiveness, not to mention his jealousy, even though he would never admit that’s what it was. That’s not say to that there weren’t times when I didn’t want to reach through the page and smack him, because there were quite a few times where I wish I could have. But let’s face it, he’s an alpha male, and they tend to do stupid shit. One huge glaring problem is that they both have demons from their past that they’re hiding from each other. So what happens when those demons and those pasts are brought to light? I guess you’ll have to read the book to find out.
I really can’t say enough good things about this book, I loved everything about it. From the writing, to the story, to the characters, it was all amazing! I was drawn into Jasmine’s story from the first page and I was totally invested in the outcome throughout the entire book. And I absolutely lived for those interactions between Jasmine and Chase. If you enjoy contemporary romance, then do yourself a favor and pick up this book. I promise you won’t regret it.

What a way to hit it out of the park for a first novel. Laila Amlani weaves a great story with smartly written characters and a steam factor that’s off the charts. I love Jasmines independence and sharp mind. And Chase’s charm and pulls-no-punches attitude is a perfect match for her.
This starts out a bit slow but please push through it. The first few chapters set the stage and back story for Jasmine. She’s complex with many secrets and that story telling can’t be rushed. Yet when she meets Chase the pace goes from 0 to 50. The banter between Chase and Jasmine is very entertaining and believable, something many authors tend to force with too much wit. Amlani’s dialogue between her characters is smart and mature. And that is so refreshing.
The only downside in this is how Jasmine’s sister is written. Yea, Helena’s a total bitch but some of her comments and seriously screwed up, bordering on psychotic, antics seemed so high school. Like mean girls on steroids. Whenever I’d get to the scenes between the sisters (there were only a few) I felt like I was going over a story speed bump. Slightly jolting and taking me out of enjoying my song on the radio. The author could have rained her in just a bit and it would have been more believable. But Helena’s appearance took such a minor part that it didn’t sour the book for me. So my 5 stars is a 4.5

I rarely write reviews but this one is worth getting the word out.
The story is told from the POV of the lead character. We read her inner monologue constantly, but without actually revealing too much too soon. The author does an exemplary job at describing her thoughts and emotions (both good and bad) in a way that they are felt through the pages. There is sex, graphic and descriptive sex. But no BDSM or anything kinky to turn away the more vanilla reader. Without giving away any spoilers, the lead character is not the only one hiding things and a lot of the characters turn out to be completely different then what you originally think.
Are some of the plot points predictable? Absolutely! It is a guaranteed HEA story afterall. But it has enough actual twists to keep you interested and to keep this story away from being considered mundane smut.
Definitely worth reading. This debut novel was a lot better than I expected going in, and I will be keeping an eye out for more books by the author.

Jasmine gave me some serious Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds vibes and I was HERE. FOR. IT. If you're a Penelope fan too, this is definitely a book for you. And if you aren't a fan (you should be) I still cannot recommend this book enough!
Seriously, give me boss-bitch hacker meets swoon-worthy CEO any day and I am GONE . The story, the secrets, the sex. Damn. And to top it all off, found family prevails and we get our HEA.
You'll gasp, you'll cry, you'll swoon, you'll smile. Read it and fall in love!

This is Chase and Jasmine / Lily’s story. Jasmine has a sad backstory with a brutal childhood, which has understandably left her with trust issues, and she is now the owner of her own software company. Chase is dark and dangerous, and when he comes into Jasmine’s life, he tilts her world in its axels. This is a well written story which is dark, intriguing, and with suspense, tragedy, romance, emotions, twists, family dynamics, redemptions, danger, humor, secrets, and love, which leads to a steamy and entertaining addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Jasmine reinvented herself to escape her painful childhood. Chase recognized the brilliance of this woman the moment they met, even if it took a while before he fully realize the extent of her smart- and sassyness. This is a story of a child who suffered the unimaginable, taken advantage of by someone who should have cared for her. It is also the story of a woman rising from the ashes of her childhood, creating a new life for her and the man who would eventually break through her barriers, making her want something more. I loved the characters, the words written with such emotion, grabbing you, pulling you in and taking you on a rollercoaster ride.

Holy. Smokes. I am mind blown. Wordless. This book kept my rapt from chapter one, and sent me reeling with the last word. Just, wow. Laila Amlani is an incredibly talented writer! If I didn't actually know otherwise, I would assume this was upwards of her twelfth novel. What an amazing read. Honestly I'm still reeling from how captivated each chapter had me, but you can bet I'll be coming back for each and every following book. This author is one to watch, mark my words. She's an up and coming star and a force to be reckoned with! Go read this, you won't be sorry!!! See y'all on another page!

It's an excellent romance, full of twists and turns.
The prologue is difficult to read, but it makes it possible to immediately understand the heroine Jasmine, and her aversion to trusting both men and women. After her escape, she managed to create her talent in computers and she seeks to develop her business, but she finds herself thrown off balance by Chase Hale who is her direct competitor, and by the return of the past through a request from her despicable half-sister.
The story is unpredictable from start to finish and is addictive.

Wow!
This was an outstanding debut novel that left me breathless. I loved how complex and unpredictable it was. There were multiple layers to the plot with many secrets, threats and dangers. However added to this was great humour plus witty descriptions and dialogue.
You could totally feel the tension between them Jasmine and Chase. I enjoyed the push and pull and was rooting for them all the way.
I look forward to seeing what this talented author comes up with next.

This was an outstanding debut novel that left me breathless. I loved how complex and unpredictable it was. There were multiple layers to the plot with many secrets, threats and dangers. However added to this was great humour plus witty descriptions and dialogue.
You could totally feel the tension between them Jasmine and Chase. I enjoyed the push and pull and was rooting for them all the way.
I look forward to seeing what this talented author comes up with next.

Wow, on the face of it, I thought this would be your typical handsome devil/playboy extraordinaire falls for the troubled young woman but the troubles you expect are nothing compared to what they both actually endured.
This was such a fast paced read. I had to know what had happened in the past and what would happen.
I loved Chase, definitely a new book boyfriend!
Jasmine had a great character growth and I really liked her relationship with Nikki.
I did not expect the twist in the epilogue! Well played. I can't wait to read more from this author!

The past can haunt your future and it stops Jasmine from fully trusting anyone. Until she meets Chase. Strong,.sassy and sarcastic, Jasmine is fab and the chemistry between these two - sizzling. Recommended.

This book had me on the edge of my seat from the first page. It is action packed and never stops. You get attached to the characters. This story was outstanding and left me breathless half the time. Loved it.

Loved it! Full of twists and turns, with a healthy dose of steamy scenes and a dash of humour. I couldn’t put it down. A must read for all lovers of romance books.

I hugged this book when I was finished. Once I picked this up I couldn't put it down! It was a huge page turner and that ending😲🤯 beyond amazing. I loved the writing and Chase….🥵 Oh Chase. The spice was amazing and better yet the plot was amazing. I 100% recommend this book!

Wow. I tore through this one, I could not put it down. Don’t let the super steamy scenes fool you, this book is packed with twists, turns, betrayals, and jaw dropping moments that will have you in shock. The characters are amazing, you either love them, or love to hate them, or love them and then hate them. Don’t start this book unless you have some uninterrupted time on your hands. You won’t be getting anything done until you’ve turned that last page. With your jaw hanging open. Because, damn! Right up until the last sentence, you’ll be hooked!

Loved it.... it's not how you start in life, ut how you finish...lollies life was bad, however her determination took her to new levels, however lies have a way of catching up with you...but love can see straight through it...loved this book from start to finish

This meeting of drama and romance was fantastic. With every lusty scene or humourous moment, there was an equal part of terror and sadness. My heart broke for Jasmine in what felt like an unwinnable situation but I was cheering for Chase to step up to the plate and he absolutely did.
A scenario not often depicted in novels, with a deplorable family to boot, the realism was all too much. Excellently written!

My first book by this author and I absolutely loved it. A standalone novel of triumph against all the odds. Both Chase and Jasmine/Lily were impacted and shaped by their past. In Chase's case by tragedy then betrayal. In Lily's case by a brutal childhood. Lots of twists and turns and I was rooting for them to succeed through everything thrown at them. Brilliant.
