Welcome to Fort Lauderdale—where the days are hot and the Knights are hotter.

Wolf:
I’ve been in love with the same girl since we were seventeen. Back before our careers took off and pulled us away from one another. No amount of fame, money, or puck bunnies could ever replace Scarlett. But she has a mind of her own, and dreams that don’t include me. We might not want the same things in life, but we still want each other. No matter how hard she fights it, she can’t deny that truth. I just need to prove to her it’s enough… we’re enough.

Scarlett:
I didn’t want to have to choose between Wolf and surfing, but I couldn’t have both. As much as he hates to admit it, neither of us might be where we are now if I hadn’t walked away. His life is about being the best on the ice, and mine is chasing down the next wave. I refuse to give it all up for a guy— even if he is the only guy I’ve ever loved.
A single mistake changes everything… turning both our worlds upside down. Now I have to figure out how to regain balance, not just in my life, but with Wolf. This time, there’s no bailing… even if it means a wipeout.

Author's note: There are some difficult themes in this story. For CW information, please check this book's page on my website.

I’ve been a fan of not only this series, but Kat Mizera’s work as a whole so I didn’t not expect to like this story, but I got a little more than just like out of this one! :)

I can’t pin-point exactly how this story was more than just like for me because I think it was all the things. I struggle with how to explain this without giving away too much of the story but Scarlett and Wolf, in my eyes, are already an established couple, yet their journey to more than what they’d been since they were teens was exciting and riveting and emotional. They’ve spent a good chunk of their adult life passing by each other because of their careers but then … surprise … it’s not about just them any more.

I felt every decision they had to make and every moment of uncertainty and miscommunication and just plain old stubbornness these two endured during this journey straight to my heart and it really was glorious even when it was in turmoil, if that makes any sense LOL It’s just a good story about adulting and getting it finally right!!

I know I'm in the minority but this book was just an OK read for me. I don't know why but it just was. I knew going in it would be a thought read and all but the way these two kept getting in each other's way was frustrating as hell.

It was sad to read what happened to Scarlett just as things started to be good for them, but the constant non-talking and not expressing their feelings every time something came up, was exhausting. I haven't read that many books by Kat Mizera, but the ones I did were great, so it pains me give this one a 3* rating.

In the last book we saw hints of the relationship between Wolf and Scarlett. I wasn't sure what to think of them, you could tell there was love there, but neither of them were willing to change anything about their careers and Wolf came off looking really bad because he wanted a house wife to take care of him, the house and kids.

Not much has changed in all their years of on/off. until 1 little thing did and they were forced to decide once and for all what they really wanted. What really sucked was as they were trying to decide, each of them still had their walls up, which made it really hard to be honest and make that choice. Then once again the choice was made for them and it was heartbreaking! And once again, neither of them were willing to talk. It was only when a little girl they both had fallen for that needed their help could they start to talk about things. They weren't willing to let this girl flounder, they had to have a united front to help her, which helped them both realized what was important, allowing both of them to bend. It made the ending all the better, finally they were on the same page and the time was right for happiness to find them.

What a Rollercoaster Ride!

The Lauderdale Knight series has been awesome and now with Wolf and Scarlett’s story it just added to another great book in this series. These two had been on and off again since high school which really stems from miscommunication and just plain old stubbornness. Watching these two trying to make it work was full of angst and made me fall in love with this couple.

As with the other books in this series I can say that I recommend Wolf and Scarlett’s story.

I’m loving the Lauderdale Knights series and getting an introduction to Wolf and Scarlett’s relationship in the previous book, Long Shot, made me anxious for their story.

Wolf and Scarlett met when they were 17 years old and fell passionately in love. Both were talented athletes driven to rise to the top of their sports and the surfing and professional hockey worlds made being together challenging and required some sacrifices neither were mature enough to make or handle yet.

It was a little frustrating to watch them struggle so much with finding the courage to find a way to be together after the pain of 11 years of an on-again/off-again relationship they endured before their into each other in Hawaii and their reconnection in Hawaii lead to an unexpected pregnancy.

Both Scarlett and Wolf are passionately focused on the idea of what they want in a relationship and protective of their own hearts to avoid further heartbreak. Wolf is a natural protector whether it’s Scarlett or Naomi, the young girl they both befriend in their neighborhood. Scarlett is fiercely independent and determined she shouldn’t have to sacrifice her successful career just because she’s a woman. Both have to find a way to compromise and set aside their egos.

Their journey is different due to how much both of them already love each other and their physical relationship already so defined and developed. Their journey is extremely emotional as they try to figure out how to make it work after so many failed attempts knowing an innocent child’s future happiness is also at stake.

As Wolf and Scarlett try to find a path where they can move forward together, both discover some interesting insight about themselves.

This book is pure emotion and will have you feeling so many emotions. I loved the friendships that Scarlett develops with the wives and girlfriends of the Knights, and how Wolf gets advice and support from the unlikeliest of his teammates.

I received a free ARC from the author and Elle Woods PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Kat Mizera heats things up with HOT SHOT (Lauderdale Knights #4). Champion surfer Scarlett Delgado and NHL hockey player Wolf Bodilsen fell in love when they were seventeen. Their professions took them to different locations. They would hook up throughout the years when they were in the same area. We first met Scarlett in book three, LONG SHOT Scarlett is a rival of Twany Hayes, who saved Wolf’s teammate Jace from a shark in that story. Wolf and Scarlett hooked up in LONG SHOT, and now she is pregnant.

I like Wolf and Scarlett. The two have loved each other, but they seem to have their wires crossed. Scarlett feels that Wolf can be old-fashioned and overprotective. Wolf has asked Scarlett to marry him in the past and been rejected. They both think the other is unwilling to compromise. They have some issues to work out. They decide to live with each other in Scarlett’s off-season and want to raise their child together but with their jobs taking them to different places, the future is uncertain. They both do some soul searching during that time. They befriend a little girl who lives across the street from them that they suspect is being abused.

HOT SHOT is a heartfelt and emotional read. It is a wonderful addition to the Lauderdale Knights series. I love that Slava Yegorov from VAN (Sidewinders: Generations #4) is now Wolf’s teammate. I recommend this story to people who enjoy second chance sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is Wolf and Scarlett's story, and I was so looking forward to watching these two ride off into the sunset together after meeting them in the previous book, The Long Shot.

These two have a huge attraction to each other and they also have a very strong connection and love. They met each other as teens and fell hard for each other but they have never been able to make it work because of their very intense careers and their stubborn personalities. The truth is these two are so alike and Wolf thinks he wants a stay-at-home type, yet he can't let Scarlett go. Scarlett has some big dreams, but she also loves Wolf so much and has a hard time letting him go as well.

Things change in a big way when Scar finds herself pregnant and Wolf and her are able to spend quality time together in Florida, which is where his hockey team currently plays. One really awesome feature in this book is we get to see Remy and Noelle from the authors previous book, "Knight Before Christmas." They actually play a big part in this book, and I loved catching up with them. In addition, we also meet a 10-year-old girl who I totally fell in love with.

This book has angst and drama. It is NOT a light read but it was a really awesome story that you can tell the author poured her heart into. There are some heavy topics that occur in this book, and you will laugh, and you will cry and most of all you will fall in love with this very complicated couple.

Wolf and Scarlett fell in love when they were 17, but life took them in different directions. Wolf is a professional hockey player; Scarlett is one of the top surfers in the world. Over the years they would meet up and had fantastic chemistry, but would end up arguing and break up, again and again over 11 years. One problem is Wolf grew up in a family with a stay-at-home mother and wanted a similar thing for his family, while he continued playing hockey. Scarlett has a very different life plan - being the number one surfer in the world and she focuses everything on that goal, to the extent that she really doesn’t even have friends. And then there is the “condom failure” which results in a pregnancy.

I have to admit I liked Wolf more than I liked Scarlett. They are in love with each other, but neither will say it out loud. They are hesitant to really talk things out and thus constantly miscommunicate. It is when Scarlett moves in with Wolf that I realize how fragile Scarlett is, she has been so focused on her career she doesn’t have any friends. I loved the way a few women connected to the Lauderdale Knights take her in and she finally has friends to confide in, to share things with. But with years of miscommunication Scarlett protecting her heart and Wolf trying to guess what Scarlett wants, they are headed for failure. It’s a rough road to get to their HEA.

Thanks to the author and Elle Woods PR for an advanced ebook of Hot Shot. This is my honest opinion.

Wolf and Scarlett have been in love since they were teenagers. But, love never seems to be enough and a relationship never happens. Instead, they keep orbiting into and out of one another’s lives. Passion is never the problem, but communication and having the same life goals is, and each time they meet up, they seem to leave on ugly terms.

But, when a night of passion has big implications, Wolf and Scarlett find themselves tied together in a way they never saw coming. Both will need to put aside their insecurities and compromise to give this one last shot. But can Wolf ease up on his dreams of having a traditional family and wife waiting for him at home and can Scarlett even fathom walking away from competitive surfing?

Hot Shot definitely played with my emotions. This book had so many highs and lows that I was left with emotional whiplash. Both Wolf and Scarlett have built massive walls around their hearts to protect themselves, but now find themselves unable to communicate any of the important things . . . . which is the only way they will ever be able to give themselves to one another fully. Readers, walk into this one prepared to become emotionally invested as this couple faces the sea of thoughts and feelings they have to wade through to see if they can find their happy ever after. 4 stars!

Wolf is a pro hockey player for the Lauderdale Knights. Scarlett is the top pro surfer in the world. Wolf and Scarlett fell hard for each other when they were in their teens but split when their careers took them in different directions. Wolf and Scarlett have hooked up several times over the years. Wolf and Scarlett have explosive chemistry. What happens when slip during sex in Hawaii leads to a surprise pregnancy? Can Wolf and Scarlett open their hearts and be vulnerable with each other? Can Scarlett and Wolf learn to communicate about how they feel and what they need from each other? Can Wolf and Scarlett learn to compromise without giving ultimatums in their relationship? Can Wolf and Scarlett's relationship survive a tragic loss? Will Scarlett and Wolf be there for the little girl they befriended when she needs them the most? I really enjoyed Hot Shot by Kat Mizera. Wolf and Scarlett are a great couple but poor communication lead to alot of misunderstandings between them. Hot Shot is an emotional roller coaster. I would definitely recommend getting Hot Shot and the other books in the Lauderdale Knights series by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Oh man, get ready for all the feels. “Hot Shot” is a sweet, emotionally filled second chance romance that pulled on my heart in all the ways possible.

Wolf and Scarlett have had an on and off again relationship for years. They’ve known each other since high school and have an undeniable connection. After a night together, Scarlett discovers she’s pregnant. While this puts a pause on her professional surfing career, both are excited to become parents. Now the two have to work on each other and to see if they can make it work for the long haul.

This story took me through so many emotions that I wasn’t prepared for. The range of this story is incredible and covers all the ups and downs of being in a relationship. Wolf is caring, protective, passionate and has just the right amount of caveman in him. Scarlett is fiercely independent but has the biggest heart. Their chemistry is off the charts hot and I could feel it as I read their story. There is so much passion and history in their relationship. I loved the bond they had with their neighbor, Naomi. That pulled at my heart in the best possible way. The ending mended my heart and I can’t wait for the next book.

I love everything about this series and Wolf and Scarlett’s jour is the perfect addition to the series.
This couple have had an on and off relationship since they were teenagers but their careers have always got in the way, she is a professional surfer travelling the world and he plays NFL hockey in Fort Lauderdale. This book has all the feels and I highly recommend to all sports lovers.
A meeting in Hawaii has Wolf and Scarlett hooking up once again, it was meant to be a fun vacation with them then going their seperate ways and neither of them thought that last might was going to change their lives forever……..
I fell hard and fast for Wolf and I adored Scarlett, I was captivated in their journey from the first page and their was no putting down until the final line had been read. I needed to know what the future held and would they get the life they both deserved, I needed to know what fate had in store for them but more importantly I needed more Scarlett and Wolf. Hot Shot certainly ticked all my boxes abd I’m sure it will tick yours too.

Hot Shot is so amazing. This stole my heart and would not let it go until the very end. I loved this one so much. Wolf and Scarlett have officially become my favorite Lauderdale Knights couple. Wolf is a fantastic hockey player and Scarlett is a pro surfer. They have been on and off since they were teenagers, and something keeps pulling them back together. Their relationship is explosive in more ways than one. Communication is one of their biggest problems along with being stubborn and seeing things one-sided. You cannot help but to root for them. You feel the love and passion Wolf and Scarlett have for each other. I love this couple through every up and down that they go through in their relationship. Wolf is a sweetheart that walks on eggshells and Scarlett is guarded but she has this huge heart. I love the connection between Wolf and Scarlett. This is such a beautiful story that may just bring tears to your eyes. I could not get enough of this. You need to meet Wolf and Scarlett now. I cannot wait for more Lauderdale Knights to come. Wolf is a professional hockey player with the Lauderdale Knights who has been in love with Scarlett since they were teenagers. They are both dedicated to their demanding careers and have very different views of the future they want but finding out that they are expecting a baby has Wolf hoping that he can finally have it all.

Scarlett is conflicted as Wolf has already owned her heart, but she thrives on her career as a professional surfer. Finding out she is pregnant finally puts Wolf and Scarlett in the same place for an extended period and they must decide if they can finally be a couple or if the differences mean they can only be co-parents.

There is no denying the chemistry between them but both Wolf and Scarlett are afraid to voice what they truly want as they take us on an emotional journey that can only have the outcome, they both want by opening their hearts and being honest with each other.

This was a tough one to read. I was anticipating Wolf and Scarlett's story after their on-again-off-again relationship was revealed in book 3 (Long Shot). Over the course of their 11 year fling, neither could seem to let go of their ideal relationship. Both so stubborn and set in their ways, no compromise ever saw the light of day. In a surprise twist the two are forced to figure out what they truly want out of life and how they can make it work. Unfortunately the answers don't come without a heart shattering loss and a lot of soul searching. In the end they are able to pick up the pieces and find a path they never saw coming. My emotions were all over the place reading this, my advice for anyone opening this book is to read the trigger warning at the beginning. I had a hard time and wouldn't consider the plot a trigger for me. It's sad, yet beautiful watching Wolf and Scarlett come out together in the end.

Wolf and Scarlett ❤️

I really REALLY LOVED this story except for one thing. The lack of communication. I get that the whole story was based around the fact that these two loved each other, but they couldn’t communicate well enough to make their relationship work, but over the course of 11 years through pregnancy and tragedy, it took them all the way to the end to figure out that they just needed to say I love you and I want to be with you. That part drove me crazy. I almost stopped reading on several occasions simply, for the fact that I was extremely frustrated with the storyline. I loved each of the characters I loved their love for each other, but the not talking to each other in a meaningful way, was just way too drawn out for me. Also, as characters go, I could’ve done without Wolfe sister. She really added nothing to the story, except annoyed and irritated me, I can’t wait to read the next one. I love this whole series a very enjoyable Read.

An emotional roller coaster of meant-to-be vs career. With the fourth book in the Lauderdale Knights series Kat Mizera is delivering a sexy, heart wrenching tale that had me hooked quickly and hung up on every page from start to finish. I'm really loving this hockey franchise!

Wolf is kind, sincere and loyal and the fact that he hasn't stopped loving his first love during all of these years apart goes to show how deep what they shared touched him.

Scarlett protects her heart by attempting to stay closed off from Wolf, but she admits to herself on a daily basis how much she loves him ... she just doesn't tell him much anymore.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that loves to read a hockey romance where the players know how to play hard and love just as deeply while having close friendships and successful careers.

Since the last book I have been waiting for Wolfe and Scarlett's story. Wolfe and Scarlett have a past that many don't know the whole truth about. It is interesting to see the dynamics in their relationship. Wolfe is a born protector just as the name says. Scarlett is a fiercely independent and use to depending on just herself to get things handled. They want to love one another but can't seem to get out of their own way. Throughout the story we watch the two of them go back and forth with their relationship until one of them get scared by something and go running. It is truly amazing to watch them move past the issues that their minds keep creating to allow their hearts to take over. It is almost like it a issue of mind over heart and they need to make them both be on the same page.

A unique twist on a sports romance story - Hockey Hero and a Surf Queen of the Waves.
An emotional read that will require tissues and a shoulder or pillow to cry on.
Wolf and Scarlet shared a love across the ages/decades. Sweethearts from high school and on and off again through the years. There was something there that tied their hearts together. They never seemed to part permanently.
There latest life crossing has brought some major decisions for the two of them. These decisions will stay with them for the rest of the their lives. Now, can they come to a compromise that will allow them both to follow their dreams and still bring them the satisfaction, peace, love and fulfillment they need to live a life worth living?
My heart hurt at times while reading this one but Kat Mizera was there to hold my hand and bring me a sense of peace in the end.

My goodness! I don't even know where to start with these two. Wolf and Scarlett are the epitome of getting in your own way. Theirs is a story of love, indecisiveness, inevitability and ALL the feels, the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. They both tugged on my heartstrings. Seeing both sides and why they were feeling the way they felt did make me want to lock them in a room and hide the key, but their journey was a slow one that had to go the way it did. Wolf is strong with a somewhat idyllic view of his future. Scarlett is a b@da$$ in her own right with dreams and goals that don't include a white picket fence.
This is another series that is quickly becoming one I enjoy picking up as soon as the next installment comes out.

It’s time for two professional athletes who cannot seem to resist each other to finally decide if a future together is something that they can handle. Wolf and Scarlett have spent over a decade on and off again but now they don’t have a choice but to be in one another’s lives, because it is going to be more than just them. Fans get ready for lots of emotions, passion and intensity. Wolf is going to have readers falling in love and Scarlett’s independence and strength is what fantastic female leads are made of! Get ready for a perfect addition to the Lauderdale Knights series.

Wolf and Scarlett have a very fiery on and off relationship which has spanned since they were young with their own ideas of what Scarlett should do if they got together permanently being the biggest issues between them along with Scarlett not know how Wolf really feels about her. Now they have a baby on the way and have to not only learn to co exist together but also work through their feelings but boy oh boy do these two have communication issues! Not only do I want Wolf and Scarlett to work things out as they really are perfect for each other, but your heart breaks for Naomi the wee girl in their neighbourhood. Get ready to laugh and cry, be shocked, feel loss and love as these two finally work through what they want for each other and what needs to happen to be together!

I really enjoyed this book, especially after meeting the characters in the Long Shot. Wolf and Scarlett have been in an on-off relationship since high school, with both of them loving each other, failing to communicate and being pro athletes at the top of their fields. If they could only figure out how to have it all, then life would be perfect. This story made me laugh and cry and wrapped me up in a great big hug. This book is a fast paced story, that is full of love, chemistry and that big alpha male who needs to learn a little about compromise. Can Wolf and Scarlett work this out and get their HEA, even when tragedy strikes?
Great story.

Best in the Series! 10 Stars! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read

Scarlett and Wolf have this kinda sorta toxic relationship of their own making. They have an amazing relationship and friendship and are in love with each other deeply. They seem to guard their hearts so fiercely that they do not communicate with each other where any type of emotions are concerned. They experience every type of emotion you can go through. Once they bite the bullet and finally put their hearts on the line, they find something so beautiful that they are ready to compromise anything for it.

Loved this Story! My Favorite thus far!

Wolf and Scarlet are like winter and summer, a hockey player and a surfer but they work. Or they would work if they can learn to communicate and say what they really think versus guarding their hearts against one another. A surprise pregnancy forces them to deal with each other as adults versus the teenage version they remember. Their younger neighbor Naomi brings out the mama and papa bear in them both to protect who they view as theirs already. Mizera knows how to give her characters, emotions, and depth that make you cry with them and laugh with them. Can’t wait for more in the Knights series.

Where are Scarlett and Wolf at the start? It was nice to see it picked up at a critical point when we saw them together in the last book. Oh boy, just pages into chapter one and things blow up, epically. Why does Wolf get asked about his RBF and by whom? Who are Tawny, Noelle, Dora, and Naomi? I found I did not much care for Freya. Once you read, you will understand why. Things got intense in this story. I lost my heart to Naomi. Who is Leah? Where did her name come from? What happens when the team is out of town? Who calls Coach and what does he tell two of the members of the team? Read and see why I had both laughs and tears!

By the time I was about halfway through this book I thought I knew what my final rating would be, but then everything flipped, including the way I saw the relationship of Wolf and Scarlett. It was difficult for me to accept that this is a story about not talking in a relationship, not what happens when a relationship breaks because lack of communication. Big difference, but I got there. There is also some absolutely heartbreaking scenes in this story, along with a rebuilding. It’s hard for me to review without giving any spoilers but by the end this is an excellent read. However, the first half did make it difficult for me.

How Will these Two Make It?

When you meet Scarlett and Wolf in Book 3, you are sure there is no way they can make it. Many decks are stacked against them: an unplanned pregnancy, living on opposite coasts, both stubborn as the day is long and neither of them can communicate worth a flip. (Spoiler Alert- there is a happy ending.) Wolfe and Scarlett have to tackle the hard subjects to find their way, together. They slip back into old habits but through a series of tragedies, they grow up (finally) and discover nothing is more important than each other.
An absolute great read. 5 stars out of 5, would recommend to a friend.

Simply sizzling!

If you have followed the series (and I highly recommend that you do!), we were given a glimpse of Wolf and Scarlett’s relationship in Long Shot (Book 3) and nothing could prepare the reader for the intensity and the emotion ride that these two characters will take you on. We see how their lives were interwoven throughout the years, from teenage angst to the present, what would bring them together and yet at the same time have them drift apart. The connection and emotions they go through are real, complex, intense, multifaceted, at times painful and completely raw.
This is another fantastic read in a really great series that should not be missed.
