I got this book when I was a very young girl. I cannot recall the exact age. It was between the ages of 9 to 11 years old. My cousin gave it to me and I will eternally be grateful to her for this gift. It opened up the world of Shakespeare to me. More specifically, I was introduced to Shakespeare alongside critical analysis. It is generally a companion to have by your side for anytime you need a reference to a play or when you just want to find a new play to read.

There are lots of different guides and cliffnotes for Shakespeare's plays and poetry, but this one is my favorite. It's succinct and clear, but doesn't try to substitute for Shakespeare's actual works, either. For the plays the guide breaks down the major characters, give a simple outline and a brief critical analysis that I found helpful when making connections to themes. A great companion to have on hand while reading Shakespeare.
