About the author

The Belgian author Morris (full name Maurice de Bevere) is best known for his humorous cowboy character, Lucky Luke. Morris started his career in 1945 in Le Moustique, creating various covers and illustrations. By the end of the 1940s, Morris met his colleagues Jijé, Franquin and Will. These four artists would be called "The Gang of 4", because they all worked in Jijé's studio at that time. The first episode of Lucky Luke, 'Arizona 1880', was published in L'Almanach Spirou 1947, and was later continued in Spirou. In his early 'Lucky Luke' comics, Morris was greatly inspired by animated cartoons à la Disney.
In 1949, Jijé took Morris and Franquin to the US, where Morris met Jack Davis and Harvey Kurtzman, whom he helped with their plans for Mad Magazine. He also met René Goscinny in the US. In 1955, Morris returned to Europe and collaborated with René Goscinny on 'Lucky Luke'. Goscinny wrote the scenarios of over 35 stories, which led to the great success of the series.

? Vroeger vond ik de Lucky Luke boekjes waarin de Daltons voorkwamen meestal het leukste.
🤔In dit boek komt ook de hond rataplan voor die net als in de tekenfilm alles precies verkeerd begrijpt. Voor mij een nostalgisch boek (50 jaar geleden waarschijnlijk voor het eerst gelezen ;-)), toch iets leuker om weer te lezen dan van te voren verwacht.

This one used to be one of my favourites as a child, mostly thanks to the good action and comedy and perhaps a bit of a change of scenery. Nowadays I find the plot slightly lacking and some of the jokes to no longer work, though.

Igen, végre ismét egy remek kis történet! Már többször is említettem, hogy ha hű marad a franchise a Daltonok szerepeltetéséhez, akkor remek sztorik születnek, ez most is így lett! A szökés után a 4 jómadár ezúttal Kanada felé veszik az útját, és ott kezdik el hergelni az emberek idegeit. Lucky Luke odaát elvileg nem illetékes ugye, dehát azért nem fogja annyiban sem hagyni a dolgot. Remek kis album, sok jó poénnal és egy csipetnyi kanadai kultúrával.

Goscinny is his best in adventure plotting and this is a boisterous example that even follows two paths. It's funny and bumbling while our brazen hero gets plenty of personal time that adds elements to his perceived character.

It's Morris. Ya'know? Consistent and goofy. His swishy brush is free from realistic shape restraints so he directs characters well in his tier of expressive cartoonery with suggestive features to entertain the eyes.

Am I the only one who would love to read/see a story were they all return to Canada?
In the end, william and Jack Dalton tell Joe that next time he want to go out of america, he can go alone. Imagine a story were Joe escape from the prison and leave the other leftbehind? 😹 But Arreval is stupid and do not get that the other do not want to leave the statea, so he follow him.
It could make for a lot of funny momments in the snow. 😂
Also it could fuck totally with Lucky Luke, that William and Jack still are in prison.

Btw it was a fun recap to a story I have not read for 16 years. 😏 😺 📖

Di seri ini lagi-lagi Dalton Bersaudara kabur dari penjara karena keteledoran para penjaga penjara yang membuat Lucky Luke sedikit kesal karena kelalaian mereka. Tapi kali ini Dalton Bersaudara kabur ke Kanada. Lucky Luke terus mengejar Dalton Bersaudara sampai ke Kanada dibarengi dengan polisi berkuda kerajaan, Kopral Winston Pendergast yang suka sekali minum teh dengan sedikit susu. Meskipun harus melewati rintangan yang panjang dan tidak mudah, akhirnya Lucky Luke berhasil menangkap buronan itu kembali ke Amerika dan memasukkannya ke penjara, kampung halamannya.

Another Lucky Luke/Daltons adventure. The Daltons are a lot like the Three Stooges in the types of situations they get into but they are even funnnier.

The Daltons break out of prison (again) and this time have a good idea, for once. Why not go to Canada where Lucky Luke has no authority over them?

So that's what they do. As expected, things get messed up for them really bad. There's a really funny name change for them, the dumbest dog in the world, Rin Tin Can, a fixed boxing match and a 'let's go over a waterfall' moment.

Esta entrega fue más interesante que graciosa. Todo lo clásico está presente.. Lo que sí me sorprendió, fue un poco de desarrollo de personaje en Averell Dalton. El dialecto de los canadienses fue bastante divertido y la forma en la que los Dalton causaban estragos en una tierra nueva me dió más perspectiva con los personajes, en especial por lo diferente que se trataría un Western en Canadá.

Adakalanya dalam cerita serial tokoh utama justru hanya jadi pemeran pembantu. Contohnya dalam komik ini. Kita berpetualang di Kanada, bersama dengan Dalton bersaudara. Ya, bersama Joe Dalton dan tiga saudaranya, bukan dengan Lucky Luke si tokoh utama. Sebab dalam cerita ini, Lucky Luke hanya berperan sebagai "pengejar" Dalton.

Bratři Daltonovi utekli z vězení. Zase. Tentokrát se ovšem vydali do Kanady. Čekal jsem, že to bude obligátní parodie na Kanadu, ale většina vtípků se točila kolem Daltonů a jejich trablů, které byly celkem výživné.

Probably the funniest Lucky Luke that I have read. I learned new things. I didn't know Canadians eat pea soup and got new ideas for seasoning my smoked hock pea soup from googling Canadian split pea soup. I loved the Canadian characters. So much fun.

Ενδιαφέρουσα η τρολλιά με τη σύγκριση ΗΠΑ και Καναδά της εποχής. Επίσης, δε θυμάμαι αν αυτή την ιστορία την είχα δει στη σειρά κινουμένων σχεδίων του Λούκυ Λουκ ή αν υπήρχε ταινία.

Frábær ný útgáfa af Lukku Láka. Þýðingin er bráðvel gerð og bókin sjálf er prentuð á vandaðan pappír, mér fannst hún vera aðeins þyngri í hendi en venjulegar teiknimyndasögur.

Daltonlar Amerika'da tutuklanmamak için en tıfılları olan Joe'nun aklına uyarak Kanada'ya gidiyor. Orada donmamaları elde değil. E Red Kit'ten ve avanak Rintintin'den kaçmak ne mümkün! Orayı da karıştıran Dalton sülalesi altın arayıcılığından parayı vurmak mı dersin, dövüşerek bahisten para vurmak dersin her türlü YASAL yolu denese de birbiri ile uyumsuz dörtlemenin sonu yine kazma, kürekle hapishanenin yolu demektir.

In 'De Daltons in de Blizzard' vluchten de Daltons naar Canada, waar het bandietenbestaan ze nog vies tegenvalt. Met de 'hulp' van Rataplan gaat Lucky Luke hen achterna. Dit verhaal bevat zeker goede grappen, maar de Daltons zijn hierin incompetenter dan ooit, en bovendien begint er een zekere routine in te sluipen. Ook is er waarschijnlijk wat van de humor verloren gegaan in de vertaling. Er is bijvoorbeeld een Canadees die de hele tijd Sakkerloot zegt, wat vast een vertaling is van iets typisch Quebecs.
