Coffee table book for sure, but it's an absolute delight to read.

The information on the council houses are of course short, but sweet. The photography of the places are really good and make these places look so pleasing and give you a glimpse of that kind of hope and passion that these post-war council housing projects were meant to represent, it's a bit cliché, but it's such a contrast to the situation now. I don't think it goes into anything too romantic though, there's an awareness of the problems and the constant threats of demolition.

I'll probably take this with me whenever I head down to London since this is my kind of 'tourism' whenever I visit. If you like brutalism and council housing, check this out!

so interesting, loved this! too bad there weren't more angles and pics of all of them. i really wish it would've said what council houses are now privately owned and for the wealthy (it only mentioned that a few times) what has the rent increase been since it opened, and what council homes are still only designated for public low income housing, etc. that would've made the book 5 stars. i will bring this as a tour book the next time i visit london!
