About the author

Anne Rooney gained a degree and then a PhD in medieval literature from Trinity College, Cambridge. After a period of teaching medieval English and French literature at the universities of Cambridge and York, she left to pursue a career as a freelance writer. She has written many books for adults and children on a variety of subjects, including literature and history. She lives in Cambridge and is Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Essex.

A very interesting book giving a treasure of curious facts about the earth, life and science. Good for kindle interest in kids and keeping them engaged in reading. Many of the facts can be used to frame math questions for building quantitative aptitude among children.

As it was published long ago(2008), some of the facts were outdated. And a few were wrong. But overall it was a fun read still.

All you ever wanted to know about astronaut's bathroom habits and saguaro cacti is brought to you by the bizarre, wannabe Yoda cartoon and friends in this fun but somewhat forgettable companion to "1,001 Gruesome Facts". Sorry, but this edition just lacks guts!
