Rather a flat story. I like the shenanigans, but there isn't much development. We learn more about the characters, but all 3 of the heroines have history with the mc before the story started in book 1. And some of the reactions and interactions didn't seem very realistic, but I am easily pleased and still enjoyed it. Liked the new heroine the most so far.

If you liked the first volume, you'll probably like this one too.

TL;DR

Let's say I got a pleasant surprise after realizing it was way better than the second volume. I mean, it does not recover the wholesomeness that the first volume had, but overall, it accomplishes what it strives for. However, it can feel tedious how dense the MC is. At least you can tell the plot advances, even if barely but it does.

Moreover, I gotta say Ai, the "new" childhood friend, added an interesting dynamic to the cast, despite the characters being built after many tropes. And with those final three lines, I gotta say it kinda hooked me and made me want to read the fourth volume.

What can I say? I'm a simple guy.

This was better than the previous volume. It's still moving very slowly but this volume had some good character moments. The MC is still too dense and everyone would have moved on by now. The new characters introduced in this volume were fun and Deguchi added some decent humor.

The author does a great job keeping the story light and funny. There are numerous volumes released in Japanese but sadly only 3 in English so far. While it's not an issue for me, it may turn people away from the series due to slow English publications. Overall I enjoyed each volume this far and plan on reading volume 4 sometimes next month
