A comprehensive resource for aspiring screenwriters and dramatists contains more than one thousand up-to-date entries for script agents, production companies, and more, along with submission information, requirements, essays by industry professionals, phone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses, and guidance on how much to charge. Original.
A really terrific reference - worth the cover price for the essays and how-tos alone. They make for great advice on the all-so-mysterious world of what happens after you finish writing the Great American Novel, and cover everything from "how not to embarrass yourself at a writing conference" to "the screenplay and manuscript ideas that have been done to death already." There is even an essay from a 30-year entertainment lawyer explaining in laymen's terms what-all is in a publishing contract and what rights you should keep, sell, or haggle over.
I also like the format of the agent listings. It's clear some of the agents put more time and thought into their response than others (the listings are not all uniformly detailed by any means) but it's equally clear that the editor made a real effort to ensure that everything is helpful, relevant, and easy to find. I am so glad I checked the Amazon reviews and chose this over the latest Writers Market - I would recommend the same to anyone else.
Interested in dipping your toe into the ocean of literature? Have a great idea for a book and not sure how to get started? I recommend this how to book about the world of literary agents, publishing and everything you ever wanted to know about the inside of this complicated and complex discipline.
