I was told by everyone except Rowan that this duet was Rina's best but I have to disagree because 😭 the king duet is way better (thorn and lies were so bad that I have erased them from my memory) the writing was ok, it had potential but not surprisingly it failed to deliver on thay front and I feel like Rina loves to write smut which is fine because she writes good smut but when you're writing a novel with a short length atleast focus on the plot more with low amounts of spicy scenes.

Ryle, despite getting his backstory I couldn't really feel anything towards him- I neither liked him or disliked him (I disliked him) Rai was definitely better this time, I liked her in this book but honestly characters from LOG, RES and Deception>>>>

The plot was ok as well, very underwhelming tbh and the amnesia plotline despite it being fake fueled me (I hate amnesia)

Overall, not Rina's best duet but also not her worst! At least I had fun with this one and it was an improvement from the first one!

3.5 ⭐️ Rai and Kyle. I LOVE THEM! This was unhinged, entertaining and SO MUCH FUN! However I felt like this book fell a little flat compared to book 1. Reading this after The Monster Trilogy and Deception Trilogy made my standards a bit high to say the least! I mean how could anyone compare to Adrian and Kirill??? Not possible.

I have a feeling this will be one of those series that I end up re-reading over and over and again and which quickly becomes a favorite. In fact, I think I might be feeling that way over everything I have read by this author so far - which is a lot, since I've been basically bingeing her backlist.

Anyway, as I said for book one, this is definitely satisfying my seemingly unquenchable need for all things mafia romance. I loved Rai and Kyle was delicious.

I want more.

The Hero(s): Kyle Hunter - Kyle is a trained assassin and is very good at his job. He left the Bratva for 7 years, but came back and is now bent on revenge against both the Russian and Irish mobs in the city. He plans on destroying both. He is the son of one of the Bratva leaders but blames both the Irish and the Bratva for his childhood. He was sold to a group that groomed assassins from a young age and taught them things like how to survive torture by torturing them.

The heroine: Rai (Raina Sokolov) - She is the the Grand-niece of the current Pakhan (head boss of the Bratva). She runs the Bratva’s legitimate company V Corp. which has huge profits and they are currently funneling the profits for use in their war against the Irish.

The Love Story: Kyle and Raina were married in an arranged mafia wedding, though by the end of Throne of Power they have obvious feelings for one another until something happens to tear them apart.



I love Rina Kent Books because you can always count on a stellar dark romance with an awesome story as well. This book had mystery, blood and steamy intimate scenes. Kyle and Raina had tons of chemistry and a bit of a twisted relationship but it works for them. Kyle is a bit messed up due to his upbringing but he owns it and Rai is the perfect foil for him.

There was a ton of Mafia in this one, not only was there the Russians and the Irish, but the Bratva had alliances with the Chinese and the Italians while the Irish went in with the Albanians. The Albanians are some crazy Mofo’s, so there was a lot of action as well. There are a few shootouts, some kidnappings and a few informants involved. I loved the story and how it all tied in with the romance.

I hate Kyle, just no.
I was not expecting myself to devour this in one sitting, but well, i did. And i liked it more than the first book.
So glad there wasn't too much smut in this.

this was a bit better cause it had more mafia stuff, but everything else… 😂😂😂 i’m sorry, it’s just ridiculous!!!!!

he swaps her birth control pills without her consent, knocks her up even though she had expressed MANY times she didn’t want to be a mom. romantic right???🥰🥰

then she tells him she’s going to get an abortion, and what does he do?? stops touching her as iff it’s HER wrongdoing, gets drunk and plays the victim and leaves her, aww such a dreamy hero!!!🥺🥺

and THEN, Rai’s sister tells her that motherhood will change her and that she may THINK she doesn’t want one, bc omg what woman DOESN’T???!?! wow… she has the best people around her, truly 💘💘

but the BEST part was when Rai suddenly gets the epiphany that she has ALWAYS wanted a kid!!! it was just he insecurities speaking🥺👉🏻👈🏻 everyone was right and yeah, the birth control thing sucked, but oh well! i love my husband and i love how he always ignores my wishes, dismisses me and doesn’t understand the word “no”😌❤️

Everything was really predictable, but I still enjoyed it! Rai and Kyle had too many fights in this one, but I guess I like this one more.

• In this book, Kyle's past is revealed and he's out for revenge. He wants to kill the people who killed his parents – Irish and Russians because they were somehow involved. He could've taken his revenge but he also wanted Rai, that's why he set-up an arranged marriage plan!

Kyle — is wayyy better in this book now that he started sharing his past with her. I actually felt so bad after reading his past scene where his mom and dad died. That scene was truly heartbreaking, and his parents loved him! What happened to him was bad, and I'm glad he found his godfather. Kyle's character is complex, and his past makes it understandable why he's so obsessive; he has put the lives of the people in love in danger once before because of his nature.

His betrayal with his godfather wasn't told, so I had to read it in 'ghosted'. Kyle was disheartened that his godfather was neglecting him for his wife/lover, so he aimed a gun at her and tried to kill her and also tried to kill himself. Well, he was forgiven, but he went to England!

Rai — aahh she was still the same. She's super indecisive, on one hand, she doesn't want to trust Kyle, but on the other, she can't just live without him. Glad she put up a fight with him for the things he did, but she should've held onto them!

Kyle exchanging her birth-control pills and making her pregnant was seriously so freaking wrong. And the hypocrisy of him to act like it's Rai's fault that she wants to abort the child—like, seriously? He was withdrawing from her and being petty, and Rai was like, "I WILL KEEP THE CHILD NOW." Okayyy soooo, I would've been more and more pissed, but Kyle actually apologized for it in the letter and told her about the reasons he did it and respects if she wants an abortion and all! And then he left her again... lol, he came back then. It's just, there's no point of being guilty, and I don't think he really is lol because he wants her to have his baby, it's just that he thinks he lost her. well now we have NIKOLAI so ig it was worth it eh? 👺

Damien is still my favorite character, and Rina, please, I beg you to write his book 😭 I WANT HIS BOOKKK! And Kirill giving middle finger to Rai while pushing his glasses up is so funny 💀 I really do hate adrian and but I wanna know what's his story is! I just know I'll hate it aaahhh 😭 and I really thought that Peter useless bodyguard will be the father of Ilya lolol! Baby Nikolai's scenes are so cutee and loveeeeeed kyle's interaction with Mia and Maya! 🥰

if im being honest, although i was interested in Rai's story after reading the Deception Trilogy, i didn't think i would be this obsessed with the romance yet here we are. 😭 these two were a perfect match imo, i loved how they were able to go toe to toe with one another. Kyle was pretty much your typical alpha male (whom i loved ok sjshgv) but i loved the way Rai stood her ground against him. their past history definitely made great tension in their relationship during the present day and the way these two would get jealous?? i was living for it. 👀

fav moments/random thoughts:
✧ Kirill and Damien interactions. i swear, these two were THE comedic duo. i love how their opposite personalities always clash and they never fail to crack me up whenever they bicker. 😭

example:
Kirill readjusts his glasses with his middle finger. While they're thick-framed, they don't hide the intensity of his gaze. "What's your deepest, darkest desire, Damien?"
"Aside from spilling your brains on the ground and pretending to mourn at your funeral?" Damien lights his cigarette and blows the smoke in Kirill's face, fogging his glasses.

✧ KIRILL BEING RUTHLESS AF FOR SASHA. 🥵 ok so the Deception Trilogy was my introduction to RK's mafia universe and, during that, we never really got to see Kirill's ruthless side. he's that character who's manipulative and cunning, always two steps ahead of everyone and would prefer to observe and wait before attacking; however, we were able to see his usual calm persona turn into rage here when Sasha was kidnapped AND I LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF IT. this man will be the death of me, im in love. im so excited for their story!! 😭

example:
We find Kirill between two cars filled with bullet holes, and I mean completely fucked up with bullets like in some Middle Eastern war. Two bodies lie limp around him as he punches an Albanian to a pulp. Even though the man is not small by any means, Kirill has made a bloody painting out of his face. His features are unrecognizable, eyes swollen, lip busted, and shirt soaked with blood and dirt.
Every time he punches him, the man's blood sprays on Kirill's shirt, face, and even glasses. That's a first for someone who's meticulous and never gets his hands dirty.

PLEASE, this man prefers to keep his hands clean yet here he was beating the shit out of the ppl who had kidnapped Sasha and Rai?? 🥺


✧ Rai pretending to have amnesia. book 1 ended with Rai overhearing Kyle talking to Flame about his plans to kill everyone in the brotherhood and how Rai meant nothing to him (even tho this part was just all talk so Rai wouldn't be targeted if ppl found out how Kyle truly felt about her) and i was curious to see how she would play it off. my first guess was she was going to pretend she didn't hear anything but secretly investigate the truth so, when the amnesia came into play, i loved the direction it went into. i honestly thought Kyle would have figured it out early on bc of how perceptive he was but im kinda glad Rai was able to get the upper hand, in this case.

✧ i actually liked Vlad here?? the thing was, bc i first met him through the Deception Trilogy, he was one of those characters i felt indifferent towards. i didn't hate or love him, he was just meh to me, but it actually made sense how he played a bigger role in this duet bc of his close bond with Rai and, honestly, i loved how protective he gets over her. im definitely seeing him in a new light, even tho this duet came before Deception lol. also!! ngl, although i didn't like seeing Kyle being tortured by him, i admit seeing him just be ruthless and in the zone when he tortures someone was hot. 😳

✧ Kyle in his element. 🤩

example:
He places a gun at the back of the first guard's head. "Did he touch you?"
I nod. He's one of the two who held me down.
Kyle doesn't blink as he pulls the trigger. The body falls to the ground as he moves to the next. "Did this fucker put his hands on you? Did he touch what's mine, Rai?"
The guard is about to piss his pants, lips trembling and pale. It's the first time I've seen his face, so I shake my head.
Kyle shoots him anyway. "He participated."
And then he goes on to finish the third one without even asking me. Their bodies lie lifeless at his feet, but he still watches them as if he's contemplating a way to bring them back to life just so he can kill them all over again.

ok even tho Adrian is still my fav RK H so far (overall fav characters would be Kirill and Damien but they don't have their own books yet so im not counting them rn), i admit Kyle comes a very close second. i loved his dedication and possessiveness towards Rai so much. 🥺

this duet took me by surprise, but im ✨obsessed✨

Rina Kent delivered such a great story and I couldn't be happier with the ending. Rai and Kyle’s story is filled with lies, deceit, captivating passion, off-the-charts chemistry and thrilling suspense all wrapped up into one.

The fact that Kyle and Ria are Niko's parents makes so much since. Niko and Kyle are both unhinged and so similar. I love that Ria was a badass mafia princess because it's always the men in these books that get all the credit 😂 I'm sure I'll be picking up another RK book soon :)

after 7 books about cowboys and bull riders i had to come back to my roots.
this duet is nothing special but it’s entertaining asf. i needed action and these books delivered it.

i absolutely loathed reina, but rai is another story! she’s a badass and the fact that she has balls bigger than most men is a bonus. she represents basically what still happens in our society nowadays: women get treated differently than men just bc we don’t have a dick between our legs.
rai has an important position in the bratva and she’s not well accepted even tho she’s the pakhan’s niece. she worked hard for her position and she has to keep proving herself to men who did basically nothing to earn their place.
she’s the embodiment of girls power, if you ask me.

the assassin who ended up telling toddlers’ bedtime stories.
he was great til he wasn’t💀 idk why but rina has a tendency of ruin her mmcs by making them do something stupid. i didn’t like, ofc, how he imposed a pregnancy on rai (even tho we got niko💘). besides that, i liked kyle. he’s handsome, and his dirty mouth is a bonus. he’s a goner for his wife which does something to my heart. his family background was CRAZY!! as always, i didn’t see it coming (iykyk👀).

i adored them ofc and i loved their banter especially. they were definitely an interesting couple. besides the pregnancy thing, i liked their dynamics. they’re funny together and i love the fact that they’re niko’s parents bc i freaking love niko.

overall, i enjoyed the duet. rina’s stories are entertaining and the smut doesn’t disappoint as always.
also, now i know why everyone wants damien’s book🤭

Her scent used to give me calm, but it’s now filling me with terrifying dread. Tentacles of fear tighten around my throat, stealing my breath and sanity. The thought that I won’t be able to smell her again makes my entire body fucking cold.

Damien takes her hand in his. “That’s the spirit, Rai. Truth is, you and I were always meant to be together.”
My blood boils and I’m a second away from barging in there and throwing him to the floor.
“Really?” she asks slowly.
“Really. I’m the love of your life. It started when you saw me kill for the first time. You said it was hot.” He grins. “Then we had a lot of kinky sex.”
That’s it. “You’ll have a kinky death if you don’t get the fuck out.” I barge inside, my fists clenched on either side of me.

But not everything visible is beautiful. After all, the devil looks his best when luring in his victims.

He’s watching too intently, as if it’s the first time he’s seeing my face. “What?”
“Just watching how beautiful you are.”

I’ve heard stories about the black widow spider who kills her mate after mating, and I always found it fascinating how she followed her instinct, even if it meant killing her own husband. I guess we’re the same that way.

There are times like these where I want to throw everything into the air, carry her in my arms, and go far away from this world and all the tragedies associated with it.

Wait a fucking second… “Does this mean you never lost your memories?”
“No, but I fooled you, didn’t I?”
Bloody hell. She did.

“Go ahead, Rai. Do whatever you like. You can bite me, shoot me, or bury me in a construction site, but that won’t change the decision I made. Do you know what that decision is?” I shake my head frantically against his palm, and he lowers his head so he’s speaking in a low tone against my lips. “We made vows, and I intend to keep them. Till death do us part.”

“You’re my wife. My. Fucking. Wife. Do you understand what that word means? It means we belong together, not far apart.”

“There will be no more goodbyes between us, Princess.”

“I’m going back in there to burn him alive.”
“No need to. I already finished his life.” I puff my chest. “I shot him straight in the dick after I bit it off, and then I also shot him in the forehead.”
Kyle chuckles softly. “I wouldn’t expect anything less from my beautiful wife. I’m so proud of you, Princess.”

“If you’re a boy, don’t you dare mistreat women. If you’re a girl, don’t you dare let men mistreat you just because you don’t have balls.”

Nikolai is two months old and has the most beautiful blue eyes I’ve ever seen.

“Kyle! Did you see that? His first smile.”
“He’s just taunting me.” Kyle wraps his arms around my waist from behind and lets Nikolai grab his finger. “The first rule in the father-son manual says that you don’t cockblock your dad, Nikolai.”

These little shits are my kids, but they’re demanding as fuck. Rai says they take after me. Ha. Me? They give me a run for my money.

1★ fighting the urge to not roll my eyes every chapter should be indication enough.

kyle is one of the worst mmc rk has written, and none of his "reasons" for doing what he did are excuse enough for me to forgive him. Messing with her birth control and getting her pregnant AGAINST her will is NOT romantic in any way you look at it. AND THEN HE HAD THE AUDACITY TO ACT LIKE A PETTY CHILD and act like a victim when she wanted to choose if keeping it was a good idea. how she stayed with him baffles me.

rai... had me for a moment, and then lost me again. Hopefully their kids won't be as stupid or annoying as their parents.

damienmio, adrianlia & kirillsasha crumbs being more interesting than the actual main couple and storyline shouldn't have happened.

Heroine : Rai Sokolov. She was the true queen and definitely one of my favorite heroines by Rina! She never gave up and I loved the way she protected those she cared for no matter what the cost.

Pace of the story : Fast

Plot Summary :
Kyle and Rai are back!! After that explosive ending of Book 1 , I was so crazy to get my hands on this one. That Cliffhanger drove me so crazy that I devoured this book in a single sitting! I won't say much about the storyline at the risk of giving away any Spoiler , but I can assure you that you guys have something phenomenal and crazy coming at you! Be prepared!

Overall Opinion :
Damn , that was some ending. I was so excited to know more about Kyle and his reasons for being the way he was and I can finally rest now. "Throne of Vengeance" is full of action , angst and heat all in one , making this one of my favourites from rina!! Rai is my favourite girl of hers upto date and I am totally having a girl crush! The way she destroys those who betrayed her had me in awe of her! There was a lot of character development in this book of the duet , which in turn gave my heart a lot of Angst! I loved the crazy chemistry between Kyle and Rai and I really hope that we see more of them in the future books.

The ending of the book was perfect and in typical Rina Kent way , this author gave us an amazing plot twist all the while leaving our poor asses hanging in anticipation for the next trilogy! Adrian is one cold asshole and I can't wait for more from him. Both Adrian and Lia intrigued me to such an end that I found myself searching for their Scenes! That was an added bonus for me and now I can't wait for my next fix from this author. From what I saw in this book , I already know that Adrian's book is going to be one hell of a ride and I Ready to have my mind fucked in the best way possible by this author!

Mucho mejor que el anterior
Tiene más acción, romance, drama y obviamente secretos revelados.

Lo único que no me gustó fueron los cabos sueltos y algunos fallos en la secuencia de la historia.

Me encantó que saliera Rei y Asher y que mencionaran a Aiden y Cole y sobre todo a mi daddy Jonathan King.
Me gusta que todas sus historias están conectadas de alguna manera. Así que espero que Ana ya tenga su libro o esté por salir porque NECESITAMOS.

Me gustó mucho el final siempre Rina Kent me deja muy satisfecha.

if this book started as well as it finished it would’ve been a 4 star read!

I didn’t LOVE the first book, but this was so much better more excited and fast paced and the plot really got moving

I honestly still don’t know how I feel about Kyle’s character, I enjoyed getting a lot more depth to his character and understanding his past more, but honestly he was a bit of an ick. All his inner monologue was about sex, and how much he wants Rai, and trying it on with her non stop even when he thought she’d lost her memories and was in a hospital bed, that’s just not it 😅 he mildly redeemed himself when I understood what he’d been through, but yeah I’m just not sure about him… also what he did to Rai was just unacceptable and the way he then tried to emotionally manipulate her over her decision. No ✋🏽

I love Rai, how much she holds her own as a women in a mafia world full of men, she was great 🫶🏽

I also loved getting to know the other characters in this world, Adrian intrigues me the most it set up the next books well, I’m so excited to read his books!

I very much enjoyed the last 30% when it was less about Kyle being all weird and predatory and more about the plot

Everything in this story is good! This book has a lot of action and is really great read stories with characters interconnected .
It’s worth reading.
