Eight years ago, he bought her. One night, ten thousand dollars, and a steamy encounter that neither Davis Ridgeway nor Olivia Nolan would ever forget. But when their taboo night ends in betrayal, Davis and Olivia assume that they’ll never see each other again. So, imagine their surprise when Olivia walks into Davis’s office on the first day of her summer internship.

In just eight years, Davis—the son of one of the company’s billionaire founders—has transformed from a sweet college student into a respected VP (with a body that would have made Leonardo da Vinci himself abandon the Mona Lisa). Olivia—once a quick-witted, unbothered seductress—is now a driven business school student, paired up with Davis on a high-profile acquisition.

But acquisitions aren’t the only thing on Davis’s mind. Still hurting from Olivia’s betrayal after all these years, Davis concocts a plan: He’ll pay Olivia ten thousand dollars a week for every week of her summer internship. Her end of the bargain? She gives Davis full access to her body. All. Summer. Long.

Olivia thinks that this arrangement couldn’t be better. But little does she realize, Davis isn’t going to make this easy. He wants revenge. He’s going to push Olivia’s limits by saying every humiliating, filthy thing that comes to mind. But Davis makes a critical mistake: He underestimates Olivia. And for every humiliating thing he says, she has a scorching response ready for him. Let the games begin.

The Intern is a full-length, standalone enemies-to-lovers office/workplace romance novel about learning from and letting go of the past. With scorching dialogue alongside countless taboo fantasies played out in a billionaire-heir’s penthouse and the finest hotels in Europe, this novel has no cheating or cliffhangers. It is the second novel in the Billionaire’s Successor series, but can be read independently. HEA always guaranteed.

Let’s preface my thoughts with the fact, that I’m a sucker for shy insecure boys who get their girl. I’m maybe even a bigger sucker for guys who adore and worship their girls, who see only her, and have their HEA at the end. Yes, I was biased right from the start after Davis and Olivia’s meet-cute, when this blushing and shy and chubby boy got tongue tied and awkward and borderline non-functioning in front of a genuine goddess. Fortunately, they were both like a moth to a flame.

Some shady things happened though… And eight years forward, they meet again. He’s the VP in the company she’s interning in and he’s unrecognizable. He decides to make her regret what she did those years ago because it messed with his head badly and he wants her to feel as used as he did. Vengeance. Retribution. Justice. That’s how he calls it. Needless to say, his whole plan backfires…

BUT What makes this story so extraordinary I hear you asking.

Despite the fact, that it is a story about a billionaire and a girl from a trailer who comes with a baggage, the author managed to make it all sound plausible. Underneath that all, there was an earnestness that kept Davis and Olivia human. I've had enough of stories about possessive billionaires and naive virgins or sassy feisty fiery heroines. Davis and Olivia were vulnerable, with some flaws, and came across real. This was such a refreshing change to the alpha heroes we always read about. Davis was so sweet in his core. To me he was like a swan gliding along the surface moving through life smoothly when underneath he was paddling for his life. And Olivia was in fact an opportunistic girl whose aspirations drive her, but she was also loyal and kind and good hearted. The perfect mix.

They are two people who happen to like each other and have utterly sizzling sexual chemistry. Together they are explosive and quick witted, and they fit so perfectly.
... This only exists between the two of us, like a chemical reaction that Olivia and I discovered together. A little dark, a little twisted, but mostly filled with affection in its strangest form.
The steam level in this book was quite hot. There are some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a while, with dirty talk and some light humiliation kink, that was a pleasure to read. And by that I mean it was really well done. As the author said herself "the basis of these taboos is real love and affection", which I wouldn't describe better in this case.

All the while, I was wondering if their relationship could survive the differences between them and the fact that he paid her for sex. But this story was well thought out and the book was brilliantly penned, especially the first half. It was 5+ stars for me until the trip to London then it got a little bit clichéd and repetitive (and maybe even shallow?), but I loved the ending.

I really enjoyed watching the development of Davis and Olivia's relationship and the book was very hard to put down for me. As I said, I LOVED the first half and even though I fought in the second half with the lacking depth, I'd like to read more books like this, so I'm rounding up and Ms. Kinkade is officially on my auto-read list.

How the main characters look like in my head😄

The beginning was really good and quite original (who knew shy H-fiesty h would be so entertaining?) and honestly the rest of the story was quite enjoyable too. I'll definitely read more books by the author. 4 ⭐

Absolutely loved this book. Olivia is a feisty heroine and Davis is swoony worthy and sweet. This book made me laugh, cry, and all the emotions in between. I couldn’t put it down.

(this is probably the longest review i’ve ever typed)

if it’s by rebecca kinkade, IM READING IT. she is a highly underrated author who does rivals/enemies to lovers workplace romances with dirty talking MCs sooo freaking well 🔥
something about this woman’s writing style is gonna do it for me EVERY. TIME. 👏🏾 not only does she write powerful Heroes (as most romance authors do), but her Heroines are ALWAYS right up there with them: smart. confident. witty. spunky. and all around just bad bitches, tbh. i also like that even though one or both of the MCs are usually rich, the stories feel like they could be real and i love that she makes her characters COMMUNICATE !!!!

- anyway, to the review: i will always be a sucker for the shy or nerdy guy who gets the girl. Davis is the sweetest billionaire you’ll ever meet and he literally worships the ground Olivia walks on. but i just wanted to squeeze him every time he thought that he’d only ever be wanted for his money! and don’t even get me started on his mouth behind closed doors 🫠🥵
- Olivia!!!! she’s can be bitch when she needs to but is also kind, loyal, driven, and intelligent. she also has a mouth on her 🤭 i felt a connection to her character in some ways and overall just admired her.
- in all the emotional moments Olivia and Davis had together, i found myself physically feeling those emotions too.
- there is kind of a 3rd act break up but it’s for mature reasons and i honestly really loved how this ended - it didn’t feel too rushed!

i will be making my way through all of Rebecca’s books but i don’t want to binge them because i want to savor them!!!

Davis Ridgeway.. King of the Sad Boys

This book was a ROLLER COASTER !!!!

I was HEARTBROKEN before 20% and then so sad that Davis was SO MEAN!!!! He (of course) redeems himself in the end, but this one put my heart through the wringer.

If you like Succession vibes, sad boys, degradation, pay to play, brilliant and independent FMCs and top tier spice.. this book will check all of your boxes.

i should’ve DNF’d. :’)
i love rebecca kinkade so much and loved all of Streams and Schemes and loved Public Rivalry as well but HATED this one.

far too much of a divide between poor/rich boy and not enough connection to make their relationship make sense. this one felt yucky in the wealth disparity & it’s the only thought still resounding after finishing.

how are you going to write a book about a billionaire’s son & a business savvy lady who accepts literally $5,000???? for prostitution??? - (0.000005 of 1 bil!!!)
this was the first time the massive financial differences between the main characters really altered the storyline for the worst for me.
Olivia and Davis were disappointingly flat and while i usually love RK’s depiction of relationship growth, these two were stunted from the start. too many inconsistencies and i don’t care how good the s3x is, i feel like if the son of a billionaire will let the love of his life sell her body to pay for her younger sibling’s college tuition and do nothing to assist is insane behavior.

we’re not talking enough about BILLIONAIRE status vs olivia attending a fancy ass dinner in a Forever 21 dress and being underdressed. she’s business casual but Davis wears $10k Hugo Boss suits?

I thought I loved Gray… and then I met Davis. Davis Davis Davis… the nervous awkward sweetheart turn stone cold hottie. I LOVE THIS FILTHY MOUTH SEX ON LEGS MAN.

Olivia is so strong, so resilient and will do anything for her brother. Which I can relate to. Davis & Olivia together is just pure perfection, pure chemistry, pure bliss, pure SEX.

First I'll say that I LOVE Rebecca Kinkade! I'll forever read anything she writes because (for me) the most important part of any great story is the writing and she NAILS it every time. We meet FMC Olivia and MMC Davis when they are 20ish - Davis is SHY SHY SHY and Olivia is pretty much the same smart ass, touch as nails and driven person we grow to love through the whole story. Some shady stuff goes down and 8 years later - she's an intern where Davis is the c-suite executive being groomed to take over the family business. He is NOT the same man we first met - and after 9 years he finally get to have his revenge. Or so he thinks. But underneath it all - he's still the shy guy we first me and while some more shady stuff goes down - ultimately - they both are able to admit their feelings for each other. This is a top tier strangers- lovers-enemies-lovers story and I couldn't get enough of Davis and Olivia. There is a small second act break up - but not in the typical style involving the good ole' "miscommunication" trope - but in a very adult way and I LOVED that part too. And as always Rebecca's spice is spicing! It's technically the 2nd in the series - while reading the first isn't necessary - I do recommend it because it's awesome as well!

Ugghh how can an author make me immediately love someone and then kinda hate them so quickly!? lol Davis had my heart IMMEDIATELY. *Such* an adorkable rich dude. But then…things happen and..yikes 😆

Lemme tell you.. this is a legit strangers-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers situation. It’s toxic, it’s messy, it’s kinda real in an unreal way, and I loved it.

(I didn’t really hate Davis, because I knew he’s jussa hurt lil boy in there, but man.. 😳)

I spent a good portion of the book just so f*cking *sad* for both of them. They were kind of just both in sh!t situations and doing their best (or worst!) My yearning for them underneath the hate-fuelled (with all sorts of guilt and shame) dynamic just was killing me, in the best way.

Even though Davis seemingly changed from the past to the current, Rebecca masterfully tied a string between his prior self and current - we see glimpses that he’s still anxious, he still wobbles, it’s just that he has a persona now. This kept me hanging in for him, that he was in there somewhere.

Olivia isn’t without reproach either. She has had a tough life and has lived the way she felt she needed to. She’s awesome though, her ball-busting ways led to a great dynamic. I absolutely love the women Rebecca writes.

The twistiness of the book had me in a chokehold, I was barely breathing through some of it. You get to feel the hateful discomfort mixed with want. A frustrating and uncomfortable place to be, just like they both are (yes even Davis, even if he wouldn’t admit it). I really hated some of this for them, I almost wanted to cry thinking “don’t be like this!” 😅

If you like hate-f*cking and I mean real hate-f*cking and f*cking with messed up feelings, this is definitely for you. It’s a hike to get to their love and affection. You get glimpses to keep you going but it is a very bumpy ride. Deliciously so.

Absolutely enjoyed this book from top to bottom. Love how it made me *feel*. Enjoyable read, 100% recommend! I’ve really enjoyed all of Rebecca’s books so far, even when they’re different in tone they are consistent in her really great voice and writing style that I just love!

Definitely check this one out!

Let it be known that I am well and truly in my Rebecca Kinkade era, and tbh I never want to leave. The Intern is my favourite book of hers yet. It had something a little dark about it, and was full of angst. Maybe it’s my hormone addled body but I devoured that shit.
Davis is so complex, and I love the glimpse of him “uncorrupted” at 22 before we meet the cold and calculated man he’s tried to become. Rebecca did such a great job of making a character doing something, frankly, abhorrent still somehow incredibly likeable. And don’t even get me started on the words coming out of that man’s mouth in the bedroom MY GOD. If there’s one thing Rebecca does well (and tbh there are many) it’s write an obsessed man. He may be holding onto anger, but that doesn’t stop him being obsessed AND recognising that Olivia is fucking good at her job.

Olivia was also incredible. She’s forced to make choices for survival, and Rebecca paints this without turning her into a victim to be pitied. One thing I love about Rebecca’s books is her portrayals of sex work in various forms, and this book was another example of how transactional sex needn’t always be tied to morality.
I will never be sick of Rebecca’s writing, and if I could I’d kidnap her and have her write for me so I could have a constant stream of competence kink.

And with that, I have been WRECKED in every way possible. Some people know my story, some don't, and our FMC Olivia is me. I knew this one would wreck me, not only because of the general premise of it, but because I know how well Rebecca can portray certain circumstances & personalities to make you feel ALL the feels. She managed to authentically portray not only every big detail, but every small tiny detail that so many don't know or experience unless you have a story like Olivia and I, including traits/routines/feelings that linger for years to come. Lots of tears were shed through this, but it was also so healing at the same time to feel seen, felt & heard. "One of these days you're going to have to fully trust someone other than yourself....You don’t always have to sacrifice for other people because those people you’ve sacrificed it all for—those people like me—love you more than you’re ever going to realize." (My favorite quote from the book didn't even come from the MMC. The big sister in me absolutely adores our sweet Charlie.) The Intern is available on Kindle/Kindle Unlimited now!

*The Intern* by Rebecca Kinkade
The Billionaire’s Successor Book 2

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶
11-12 nice and spicy scenes that are well written and full of some fun, unique, spice!

Oh goodness, did I love this one. Rebecca knows how to write characters that you feel like you shouldn’t like because of what they’re doing, yet you know their heart and their story, so you absolutely adore them and root for them all the way. They have depth, complexity, and so much behind who they are. I love them all so much.

Basically, Davis and Olivia met 8 years ago in Amsterdam. They are immediately drawn to each other, but Davis is shy, awkward, a virgin, and unsure of himself. However, they still end up hooking up because his brother offers Olivia something she can’t refuse, which Davis finds out about it and it changes his whole life. So he puts a plan in place and becomes a totally different man. It’s now many years later, and he has just learned Olivia will be working at his company as an intern. So he develops a plan to get back at her for what she did all those years ago. He decides to pay her for the summer to hook up with him because he wants to tear her down.

As the reader, we are so mad because we are like ‘you’re better than this!’ but we are also like ‘yes! Please be together, you two are soulmates!' Olivia agrees because she needs the money, and as the summer goes on, these two learn a lot about each other, and things begin to slowly change between them. The feels start feeling, the spice spices nonstop, and ugh. Top-notch, well-written, great book! Highly recommend.

Younger Davis is the most adorable man ever and he’s exactly the one I would have chosen out of his group of friends.
Older Davis is so chaotic and revengeful but still the most adorable.
I was worried that I was going to dislike him as I wasn’t sure how far he’d take his revenge and was scared he was going to humiliate her in front of others but he didnt!!!
He’s just a softy in love at his core

Olivia is a great character and can’t do enough for her brother Charlie! They’re such a sweet sibling duo and I love that Davis also loves him!!

I really enjoyed the fact that Olivia wanted to hold off on a relationship with Davis until she’d finished her studies and found a job. The fact he was on board with this and respected her wishes. It was so worth it in the end for them!!!

Honestly lose my mind anytime theres a mention or cameo from Walsh🤩
Always love seeing Gray so in love with Corinne

Obsessed with Gus and can’t wait to read his book!!

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I found out that Rebecca was releasing another book.

There is something about her writing that is just so refreshing and unique!

“If ennui needed a poster boy, it would have hired Peter and given him a signing bonus and stock options.”

This book had me cackling with glee when I wasn’t feeling murderous towards the MMC.

Here we meet Olivia and Davis.

Olivia takes no shit and would sell her left kidney to help provide for her brother.

Davis is a teddy bear in a gorgeous body who needs a little more confidence to go along with his bank account and package 😉

I loved how both characters developed throughout the story and grew as individuals and a couple.

The smoking hot s3x didn’t hurt either 😝

Go read this book.

Loved their first meeting so much. An adorable shy guy, it was so great and I loved them! Glad to see glimpses of him throughout the book

I would’ve loved their relationship being like the start the whole time but his revenge plan from her POV was like a completely different person. I was glad we got his perspective though to see that that adorable guy was still in there he was just hurt and growing

I did love their relationship and how much they cared for each other ! The spice was 🔥🔥 and there was ALOT of it!!

Loved the sibling relationships as well, and how they were all different and had their own challenges

I am very excited to read the next book in this series, as I think his sister is going to be an amazing character to read about 👑

Finished this in one sitting and sacrificed a few precious sleep hours but worth it lol.

Although I'm not really a fan of certain aspects of this romance, this was still objectively (and subjectively) a good book that I would recommend. I loved their meet cute and their connection is clear through the pages. I also actually enjoyed their little intermission where both could grow separately and become their best selves before coming back together. It was really sweet.

I just need to keep reminding myself that they're both hurt people who in turn, hurt each other.

Even though this was not totally my cup of tea, I would read this and the series again (as well as anything else Rebecca Kinkade writes).

the intern

So let me start off by saying that the rate I read this is probably insanity. I finished the first book of the series (they can all be read as stand-alones so don’t worry) and immediately started this one. I maaaaaaaay have forced myself to stay up way longer than normal and then as soon as I work up I opened my kindle right back up. I’m obsessed with Olivia and Davis and the fact it’s over makes me so sad. I mean the way everything happened was just so freaking wrong but I’m so happy they found their way back to each other. I could literally read about these two forever.

This book came up on my ‘Recommend for You’ on the Kindle store and I though why not? The synopsis had me intrigued. “Eight years ago, he bought her.....”

I’m not lying when I say I couldn’t put it down. The whole book stretches over a 10 year period and you really see the characters develop over that time.

It’s described as an enemies to lover romance but it is soooo much more than that.

It’s book 2 of a series, but can be read standalone, but I am definitely going to read book 1 and hopefully every other Rebecca Kincade book I can get my hands on!

Sweet, shy, adorable Davis Ridgeway. The way he’s described in the beginning just made me immediately love him so that helped me accept the awful things he said too since I kinda knew that wasn’t really his character anyway.

Olivia’s story crushed me, no parents and responsible for raising her little brother, she does whatever she can to make sure she can make ends meet. Stranded in Amsterdam with no money and no way to get home to her brother she gets an offer she cannot refuse and ultimately breaks Davis’ heart in the process.

8 years later, Davis and Olivia meet again when she is the summer intern for his fathers company. He’s been plotting his revenge on her this whole time and now he’s got the whole summer to play it out. Too bad for him the power of Olivia turns him into a total simp and instead of hurting her like she hurt him he ends up a total simp for her.

This book was such a surprise for me. I have never read a book with degradation in it and was sure I could take it, but knowing what was actually going through Davis’ mind while he was doing it helped me so much.

Davis and Olivia had me hooked from their first meeting one fateful night eight years ago. The first interactions between these two were adorable and sweet as can be...until things get twisted and messy.

At first Davis plan for payback made me a little uneasy until it became clear that Olivia was more than up for it and was very capable of beating him at his own game.

I really did love the connection and growth these two went on throughout the course of this book.

To be a very conflicted intern and still kill it in your work! Queen!

The beginning was a bit rocky for me but I decided to keep going. I’m so glad I did. The character development that occurred as the story progressed was interesting. I grew to understand Davis and Oliva a lot more. This was good but in a different way from the first book. Once again, it’s not the typical billionaire a-hole type of story, it’s so much more than that.

3.75 🌟

didn't particularly like the mcs & the romance, but it was super addicting & well written ! even tho i binged the first 70%, i liked the last 30% more.

i had conflicted feelings about davis as the mmc at first, but at the end i think he was not bad, he was kind of sweet.

rebecca kinkade is now definitely one of my "will read anything they write" authors 🫡 due dilligence & public rivalry already made me love her, but the more i read her books, the more i appreciate her writing :D

I started this book a few hours ago and didn’t put it down once. I adored this book. While it had parts I wasn’t a fan of(hence the 4 stars)…I ultimately devoured this story. It was well written, fast paced, and kept you wanting for what was to come.

It’s also a very spice read. I’ll regret staying up late to read at work tomorrow. Worth it though ;)

Davis, you big old softie. I'm not one for billionaires but Rebecca writes them in such a way that I don't get the usual ick. Especially because everyone of these men would give up their money just to make their partners happy.

I'm also not big on workplace romance and yet with Rebecca, bring it all the way on. That's the sign of an artist.

I knew the night Davis and Olivia hooked up was going to be a heck of a catalyst, but this ended up better than my imagination could have made it. I had reservations going into this book. I was worried it would be more of a bully/darker romance, and that’s just not my style. So I was glad when it didn’t turn into either of those things. There is lying and a strong emphasis on seeking revenge, but at their core, Davis and Olivia are good people who genuinely care about one another.

This book continiously jumped between a 3 and 4 stars for me. I really enjoyed the journey. Loved the MMCs personality. He was so sweet. It was a nice change of pace from the normal billionare / boss trope. Ultimately I decided on 3 stars because I couldn’t really connect to the FMC. This book is about 4 🌶️.
