Bradonomicon #1

Bradonomicon: a horror anthology dedicated to Brad Tierney

Rate this book
In honor of indie horror’s best friend, Brad Tierney, we offer this humble tribute of horror-trash-slasher-pron-filth-dripping, wanna touch yourself but know you shouldn’t but do it anyway, degrading, somehow feel-good, I can’t take it anymore but can’t stop reading, it’s turning purple, chest-pounding, lung-splitting, I’m crying . . . Ohh, muh back . . . Muh back . . . Good old-fashioned down-home-crazy, collection of lurid tales.

Featuring: Regina Watts, Daniel J. Volpe, Kevin Sweeney, B.J. Swann, The Professor, McHardy & Hawker, Zoltán Komor, Ryder Kinlay, Patrick C. Harrison III, M. Ennenbach, River Dixon, Peter Caffrey, Elizabeth Bedlam

Brad Tierney.
Who?
There may not be a lot of people in the world who knows the name – before this book, of course – but in the small community of splatterpunk and extreme horror, he’s become the number one fan.

Yes, that is actually his face on the cover. But if you think he’s a big, old teddy bear because he is so hairy and his eyes are so docile, you are sorely mistaken. He’s probably high as fuck right now, which gives him that gentle look. And his taste in reading material can be downright brutal! But, guys and girls, I enjoy this guy because he is funny as hell.

I don’t know Brad well, but we do communicate from time to time on social media. On New Year’s Eve, I sent a recorded message of my son wishing everybody a happy New Year to a few of my FB friends. This was Brad’s response (verbatim):
“WOOT, Hey little dude! Thanks! To celebrate the new year, hide your dad’s wallet & keys! It’s HILARIOUS.”

And that about sums up the character of the man on which this great honor has been bestowed.

Which brings me to my next thought:
How fucking awesome is this? The authors in this anthology is either well established or rising Indie authors. They dedicated HOURS of their busy lives and full schedules to this – to thank a SINGLE fan of their work. Can you think of any other place in the world where this could happen?

As I mentioned before, it is a small community. And we have some fucking weirdo’s, believe you me. You wouldn’t invite The Professor to a yoga class. Or McHardy and Hawker to your next orgy – hey, you just know those guys will show up with a spatula and a Sudoku puzzle, and an inventive way to use them…
But here’s the thing: Most of us are open minded and ACCEPTS others with their quirks. Extreme is all about pushing boundaries, so you have to have the right mentality to want to explore it. We are not all Black Metal, blood drinking, masochistic sex fiends (I can’t speak for Bedlam…), but we won’t judge you if you are.
For the judgmental types who are reading this, it was a joke, I like Elizabeth a lot…and don’t judge her at all…;)
So, to all the authors who participated in this anthology, you did something incredible – and most of you are super people!

The stories:
Well, you can go from Werewolf to Wendigo within a few pages, the gross-out kings might surprise you by not grossing you out, but Caffery will – with a smile on your face. You might even find a Mad Max/Hunger Games/Texas Chainsaw Massacre combination which works surprisingly well.
I will be honest and say there are two stories which didn’t do it for me, but that still leaves about 85% motivation to buy and read this one.

I want to end this with the highlight of this anthology for me:
The Narrow Path by River Dixon.
For those who don’t know this author, he has the heart of a poet. More important, though, he has the skill to back up his writing. It is nearly impossible to describe how he manages to tell you exactly what happened without giving you any details. And due to the heavy subject matter, I think it is one of the most brutal psychological horror shorts I have read in a long time. This story alone is worth the price of this anthology.

Recommended to the extreme/splatterpunk crowd – you know who you are, you sick fucks!

This wonderful collection, dedicated to a fellow horror reader extraordinaire, contains plenty of chills and thrills to satisfy all horror lovers. The list of authors was chosen to perfection. Each contributor wrote something special.

A father realizes that his entire family is addicted to their devices. This greatly disturbs him, until he figures out the part that distraction plays in the distress that is the scheme of life.

An older couple on their way to Tennessee is treated to a violent dose of Southern inhospitality. At least, until they show their true colors. Splat.

A psychopathic clown at a children's birthday party meets his match as he saws apart the other children. Tribal leaders fight with chainsaws to become immortal. We learn the the true erotic story behind an urban legend.

A pair of talented authors tell the tale of a girl who got lost in a wild field many years ago. She loves her children fiercely, and adores singing to them.

A couple finds a malodorous bowl of ...something... in their fridge. What is it? And what would possibly happen if... no, they won't eat it. Will they?

Swallow Saliva Susan and the Molested Soap Zombies. You just have to be there.

A disturbed prisoner suffers in the confinement of a tiny white room. He is forced to face his sins. A wagon train of settlers encounter snowstorms, starvation and a creature of nightmares. A man who, as a child, was molested by a priest attempts to set things right. What does it take to summon the devil? You are about to find out. And what happens when your mother sells your soul to the devil? Make sure you have plenty of energy and determination.

I enjoyed all of the stories presented in this very colorful and fluid splattered book. I can't wait to read more by each and every author.

Many thanks to River Dixon and Potter's Grove Press for an ARC of this titillating collection.

This Anthology is perfect!!
All the stories are creative and very well written. I have 5 favorites stories, but I won’t name them. Because my preferences are totally subjective, and all the stories are very good.
But, I will say that I read several authors for the first time, and I will definitely read more books from them.
I highly recommend Bradonomicon to splatterpunk’s fans.

Very proud to be a part of this wonderful anthology in honour of the one and only Brad Tierney!

I had a blast reading the other stories on offer. I particularly enjoyed Komor's "Swallow Susan and the Molested Soap Zombies," a bizarro fairytale exhibiting a perfect combination of wild imagination and solid narrative structure. Dixon's "The Narrow Path" was another standout, dripping with lush and evocative prose. River handles a harrowing topic in an intelligent manner, offering a masterclass in restraint. Elizabeth Bedlam's "Dominated by Demons" made me laugh out loud. It's a black comedy about demonic perversion... for those with the right sense of humour.

A great volume for fans of the weird, grotesque, and the sinister!

This one was always going to be good by the line up! There was one story I didn’t take to in the book, that being said it was a good story just not for me. I couldn’t pick a favourite as there were many standouts, I have managed to narrow it down to my favourite 3 which were River Dixon, Peter Caffrey and Elizabeth Bedlam.

Bradonomicon is hands down the best anthology I've read. The line up of authors is just incredible. Every story is 5 stars. A wide range of stories. Potter's Grove is the best.

Rachel put down a bowl of meat chunks for Astaroth in the kitchen while she made coffee. She knew the feathered fucker was lurking around somewhere by the oily bird shit and black plumes scattered about. She figured she might as well feed the poor thing. Maybe she could have him do her bidding to make him feel useful?

All of the stories were good (in all transparency - there was one that I did not read). A few of the ones that stood out to me were, The Chainsaw God by B.J. Swann, My Hook’s in You by The Professor, From the Bowl by Patrick C. Harrison III and Dominated by Demons by Elizabeth Bedlam. 4 🫀🫀🫀🫀 from me.
