After venturing into the Forlorn Dungeon, Maximo Strident has obtained the Arcanist class and become a Knight-Errant. Now, he knows what lays within the strange dungeon: the future.
The Apocalypse.
But it is just a possible future. Max will lead a newly formed cohort of the best Knights-Errant into the Apocalypse, where adventure, power, and danger awaits.
Along the way, Max will have to learn how to combine his spells most effectively, craft items that will make him a match for monsters, and discover new classes for his allies to unlock.
This was an awesome addition. Can't believe it was only book 2. so going to be on the edge of my seat waiting for book 3. The protagonists development is outstanding and nothing like other stories that have the main character OP from the get go. Max still has to struggle and fight for every inch. Great book!
The fate of the leadership of the guild was absolutely horrifying. I have no pity for Guyuk though - he deserves everything that happened for his part in absolute evil. I have to wonder where Slayer found that monster and what he was doing to come into contact with it. The question remains though, did Slayer have the orbs and does everyone now know the truth? And why didn’t Max suspect that Pyreo, and the other councilors, were victims of the same fate that the Slayer was trying to push on Max? There were so many clues that would lead anyone who knew of the one atrocity to assume it didn’t end, and yet, no one ever brought up the suspicion that should have been rampant (really, that’s the only reason this didn’t get a full 5 star review).
I enjoyed seeing Max show that powers can’t trump strategy and that adventurers have a fundamentally different mindset to soldiers. Max just happens to benefit from the best of both.
Even in the Apocalypse, politics rears its ugly head
Max has a lot on his plate as it is, but the pile will grow infinitely greater before the task is done and the world saved from the Apocalypse Horizon. First Max he to survive the internecine battles of the the guilds leadership and the average members. But with his history and experiences in the military as a guide, he manages to use unfettered violence and verbal diplomacy as needed in his quest to save everyone. And to defeat what Artur unleashed, Max will need a lot more help than he currently has, as the Apocalypse Horizon is a mirror of the real world that fell to the dungeons might. So far, only Max has the tools within Artur’s Soul Lens and his own training, sword skills and military acumen backed by his desire to prevent the catastrophic destruction of his world. Sadly some people want to know as the one who did these great feats rather than one who helped.
excellent sequel to the first book, very good progression
First of all let me say this is the second book in the series I’ve read. I enjoyed it much more than the first because the MC has turned out to be a much more likable character. The only thing I wish was that the progression tree was a lot faster. Don’t know how far the series is going to go but if the MC and his party have to get to level 99 this is going to be a long series. There is plenty of action some good intrigue and the book is very fast paste. Going on to read the next one when it comes out. This is the second book by this author I have read in the
So far loving this series and this book was a lot of fun. Add color to rollercoaster but not really. It's more like a rocket. He started celebrating and then keep accelerating. The story is fun a bit convoluted but well thought out. The universe is certainly unique in the genre. If you read the 1st book and liked it you love this 1. Nonstop action and lots of new stuff. All I can say is please keep it coming. And fast this is good fun.
I like the way the story is progressing. I have already prepaid for book three. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here. Max is getting stronger, and he is slowly figuring out some of the mystery of the Knight Errants. Will have to wait three months I guess.
When the main character has all the answers and shares none if it. For example when charging an enemy he would say follow me I have an idea people question what's going on but he continues onward. After some moments of confusion they suddenly understand his genius and help. Really annoying
You'll never guess what will happen next. Twists and turns galore. This is a rare case of the 2nd book being better than the first. If you liked the 1st one, then you will really enjoy this one.
4.5 stars. Well done overall, although it loses a bit for what I see as over-long sections of enemies arguing with each other. Otherwise a good read, and I'll be watching for the next one.
This book was way better than the first one. It was slow going on the first book until you got to the halfway point but this book was well worth the read.
This was a fantastic continuation of the first Apocalypse Knights and I look forward to the next Apocalypse Knights when it comes out. I'm glad the ending didn't leave off a cliffhanger like last time. It'll be interesting to see how everything works out in the next book. Until then, keep up the amazing work you do.
