Who knew I’d become an author? Not me. But when the opportunity knocked, I answered the door and welcomed it in. I approach life with as much positivity as I can—celebrating the hits and laughing at the misses. Nothing worthwhile is easy, and that includes everything in my life. But I have much to smile about—my lovely mother, a beautiful daughter, two precious granddaughters, my adorable dogs, and my sweet husband of over thirty years. He has always supported me—including uprooting to move to the other side of Charlotte, N.C. for a life change, just when we thought we were settled.
If settled means not going after my dreams, then I never want to be settled. I give my all to things I enjoy—and that includes writing. In 2021, I hit the USA Today Bestselling Author list, and recently, two of my books were named RONE Finalists!
I love to express myself to the point that my daughter avoids going to the movies with me because I’m that woman in the row in front of you who gleefully munches her popcorn and laughs at every hilarious scene. Loudly. Besides my family, I love chocolate, popcorn, laughter, and animals. I love animals so much that I frequently sprinkle them in my stories as secondary characters. They usually steal the show! British and American history have always interested me, so writing historical romances set in the U.K. and the US is where my passion is.
When I was barely three years old, my parents divorced, and my mom moved my sister and me from New York to South Carolina to live near her parents. Juggling a full-time job and full-time school, my mother became my first genuine hero—she never waved the white flag when things were tough. And things quickly got tough. My grandmother, who helped care for my sister and me while my mother worked, became ill with cancer, and didn’t survive the surgery, dying before I was seven. Losing Grandma devastated me. She read to me and taught me to read before I started first grade. I credit her for inspiring my love of reading, and I credit my mother for encouraging me to turn my ideas into stories.
When I was ten, my neighbor gave me her book club copy of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind and it remains one of my favorite books. But it was Kathleen Woodiwiss’ Shanna and Ashes in the Wind, that hooked me on historical romance and sparked my dream of becoming a published author.
While I primarily write Regency Romance, I enjoy almost any period in American and British history.

4.5 Stars Lady Honora Radcliff was betrothed to the catch of the Season. Too much champagne with a stranger leaves her life in tatters and married to the abusive man. To escape, she fakes her death. Lord Benjamin Crewe accepts a dangerous assignment and discovers the woman he wished he’d married—only she’s been “dead” three years. His pursuit endangers both their lives. Another emotion filled read, I really liked both Honora & Benjamin but it was Oliver & Riggs who stole the book. I did have to resort to a hankie in this book, once again I devoured it in a sitting I read this delightful novella in the Hello Rogue anthology
A sweet heartfelt story that will make you smile and sigh as you turn the last page!
She had made a mistake that had changed her life, but Honoria could not regret it because she had her wonderful son Oliver. Betrothed to Adam, who had gone off to war, her one night of recklessness had lead her to marry another. Unfortunately all he had wanted was her fortune.
In a desperate attempt to get away from his cruelty, she had faked her death and been in hiding for three years, and only reappeared once she heard of her husband's death.
Benjamin could not believe how beautiful and mature Honoria was and having been her neighbor, he had always admired her. Now maybe he had a chance...
Honora and Benjamin are a pure delight in this short love story. The book takes you into different directions with the stories of other characters in the book. These exciting directions give the book the entertainment the readers crave from a good book. I feel that this is a great story. I certainly was intrigued with Honora’s story. Understanding her story and her one job of protecting her Oliver made this an easy read. I liked the different characters. Not to many aggravated me while reading. The ones that did appear to cause trouble, definitely brought some lively moments to the story. I like how the writer told this story with clear detailed descriptions of all the important parts that pertained to the story..
A sweet tale about the power of forgiveness & second chances! Anna St Claire, sucked me straight in with her well written tale, rife with emotion, intriguing characters, harrowing circumstances and mystery. Where romance, conspiracy, redemption and espionage collide as Benjamin seeks to woo the heart of the one he thought forever lost. Honora having paid greatly for one naive and misguided plan, finds herself not only hurtfully jilting her childhood friend, whilst being infatuated with another, but left drowning in the deep water of an abusive marriage and desperately grasping for escape. Three years later, having faked her own death, her past rides to meet her forcing her to expose the secrets that have so long festered. But can love break through a wall of selfdoubt and caution to find the vibrant confidence and spark she once had? It took one: steady paced, fun, heartwarmingly romantic and achingly fraught array of twists and turns - with a good overshadowing of espionage induced peril - to make this an adventure that kept me hooked until the end.
I wish I could say I loved this book, but the truth is I did not. It started out great and with great potential, but sadly, it flatlined and never recovered. I wasn't drawn into the story, wasn't able to connect with or care about any of the characters, and it just didn't appeal to me. I don't know if reading the previous books in the series would've made a difference or not. Probably not since it read well as a stand-alone.
Honora is in a loveless marriage to an abusive man and stages her own death to escape him. She's pregnant, her husband knows it, and accuses her of tricking him into marriage to cover for her indiscretions with another man. She's assumed dead, but is actually in hiding and has been for three years when she runs into her childhood friends, Adam and Benjamin. She'd been engaged to Adam before he went off to war and ended up cheating on him with Lord Aster and marrying Aster instead. This all happens at the beginning of the book, so there are no spoilers here.
A few things didn't work for me with this story. I'll start with the biggest one of all and this is something I'm seeing more and more in romances. Lack of character description. I don't know why there are vivid descriptions of the rooms, the furniture, even the horse, yet there is next to nothing for the characters. It isn't revealed until around 50% through the book that Benjamin is blonde with brown eyes. That's it. No other descriptions until the end when it is disclosed that he had a hairy chest. Makes you really want to grab onto him and hold on, doesn't it? And it was past the 80% mark when we find out that Honora is blonde with green eyes. That was it for her. Yet there are descriptions of everything else. Sorry, but that is a huge pet peeve for me. I want to see these people. I want to care about them, but I can't if I can't see them.
Another point I'm going to make is that after three years of being thought dead, Honora is suddenly worried about her reputation. Why? Everybody thinks she's dead. She has no reputation to protect. Not to mention there is nothing roguish about any man in the book.
Another issue I had was how the action in the book was presented. I'm not going to throw any spoilers into this, but there was a part toward the end where being in the action as it happened would've been far more entertaining than having it sent to me in a "thought bubble". I had to go back several pages to make sure I didn't miss something. I didn't see it happen. It was like starting a conversation in the middle and expecting everybody to catch up with you. That happened a couple of times in the story.
I hate to give any book a bad review. I know how hard it is to write a book and I understand the blood, sweat, and tears that go into it. I did like the premise of the story, which is why I gave it three stars, but it just didn't fire on all cylinders for me. Many will like it. It just wasn't for me.

Lady Honors Radcliff is betrothed to Benjamin Crewe who is off fighting in the war. She knows that decorum is what has to be displayed but is thankful for a night of fun and dancing. In an unfortunate timing she is found with Lord David Aster.
Lord David Aster is mean, cruel, abusive, and handsome. He purposefully compromised Lady Honors for her dowry. However, it has been repeatedly denied to him by Lord Radcliff. His timely death has eased Lady Honors a little bit not much.
Lord Benjamin Crewe, Marquees of Willington, was really looking forward to his marriage to Lady Honora. He is all that is kind and good.
Our story is about family, abusive relationships, the fallout, and forgiving oneself. It is a difficult subject but very poignantly written. The dynamics of what happens, How it came about, and the support are so beautifully worded you can imagine they are your neighbors, family, or friends going through this. Having had two family members go through this I have this story to my sister and she cried.
It is hard to say more as this would spoil what happens. Let's just say you get a story crafted to enchant and learn a different side of these relationships.
Will Lady Honors break under the pressure? Does she survive? Will she smile again? What else will happen to her or her child? Will Lord Ben find love again? Does he see a new chance with someone he believes is dead? Will the truth finally set them free or will more damage come?
Find out in this fantastic recency story that will surely have you furious one moment, crying the next, then smiling at some the so simple.
Honora made quite a tough decision but a good one for her and her son. She was definitely a wonderful mother, good daughter, and strong determined woman. Benjamin was also determined to spend time with her and get to know her. He was protective and kept her secret as he fell in love with her. With all the intrigue flowing around her, my heart went out to Honora for all she had been through and was still experiencing. A slow start but I enjoyed this story.
I received an ARC, and this is my unsolicited review.
There were so few options for women in abusive relationships, so this story is amazing that Honora did what she did at that time. The strength of character is amazing! Great love story!
** I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. **
I loved this book & the wonderful couple & secondary characters. It is a sweet, emotion filled story (a little sweeter than I usually read but very good) but with a wonderful HEA! I experienced so many different feelings in reading the book; sadness for Honor's horrible treatment by an abusive husband & how she was forced to fake her death - I was angry at the way she had given Adam the "Dear John" treatment - I laughed at the antics & love between Honora's son, Oliver & his puppy, Riggs - I felt the love, warmth & protection given to Honora from her family/friend/servants - I needed tissues when Adam forgave Honora - and lastly, smiles & sighs felt when, at last, Benjamin & Honora found their HEA! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own. 💜
I loved it! It starts out sad and tragic. Then one subplot is about the queen and her appearance at a ball. She was being watched for a threat was laid against her. The story returns to the main plot were the main characters were alive and in love. I loved the child in the story. He added much needed levity to the story. I highly recommend. A must read.

Reasons I enjoyed this book: Action-packed Page-turner Romantic Realistic Steamy Tragic Twisted Unpredictable Wonderful characters
Her marriage to the abusive Lord David Aster had driven Honora to take her own life, or so everyone believes. To escape and protect her baby, Honora fakes her suicide. She has hidden for three years, but her husband is dead now, and she plans to come out of hiding and reenter society, slowly and with the help of her loving and supportive family. When she comes across her former betrothed and his friend out on a ride, things begin to change. She has the opportunity to explain her actions and ask forgiveness. Benjamin Crewe is a childhood friend of both Adam and Honora. He and Honora watched each other from afar when they were younger. Now they have a second chance. This is a wonderful story. It tugs at your heart and makes you cry in some places; it warms your heart and makes you smile at others. Oliver and Riggs, his puppy, will make you laugh. An incident at the Queen’s ball causes a bit of a scare, but it ends well. Ben and Honora have a sweet and tender romance. The two of them along with Oliver and Riggs make a great family.
My Lord, My Rogue, Book 4 of the Noble Hearts series, was about Lady Honora (Radcliff Aster), widow of Lord David Astor, and Lord Benjamin Crewe, the Marquess of Willington. While betrothed to Lord Adam Hunter, the then Marquess of Greystone, who had been away fighting in the war against Napoleon (he became the Duke of Lancaster not long after Honora's marriage), Honora had attended an event where she had imbibed too much champagne, danced too many dances with Lord David Astor, Marquess of Astor, and then caught in a compromising position with him, they had escaped to Gretna Green to wed. Two months later, she found all her hopes and dreams had been nothing more than a nightmare as her new husband had turned out to be a monster. Realizing there was only one way out of the terrible life she had recklessly chosen, she took it. She staged her own death. Three years later, she resurfaced with a 3-year-old son, Oliver. Planning on spending his Christmas in Bath with his mother, Benjamine made ready for the trip, only to learn that the queen would be there as well and that his services in protecting her would be much required. The Duke of Lancaster joined Benjamin on the trip to Bath where, while out for a morning ride, they encountered Honora who decided to be honest about what had happened three years before. She also asked Adam for his forgiveness for what she had done to him in betraying him with another man. The story, though short in length, was quite full of information, almost to the point of being too wordy at times. So much happened, from the opening of the prologue to the epilogue. Sometimes things moved along too fast. But there were also the times when it seemed things happened before they should have. For instance, Benjamin called her Honora, and she called him Benjamin, then moments later they asked for permission to call each other by their first names. There's also the error that Honora's aunt stated that her best friend had married an earl, who was Benjamin's father, and that Benjamin was now the Earl of Willington, when everywhere else in the book, including the blurb, that he was the Marquess of Willington. Then she turned around and called his mother the Marchioness. This was a very confusing story, though it would be difficult to explain without spoiling it for other readers. Suffice it to say, it felt like the prologue should have been several chapters into the book, while chapter one should have been even further along. It was like being dropped into the middle of a movie and not being made aware of important points that would clarify what was going on. Even the ending was too rushed and not explained well enough to shine a light on unanswered questions. Sure, the story was full of information...however, it lacked even more. It was almost as if a person had been telling a story to a group of friends...only to have one look up and say, "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch all of that." Definitely not a five-star book, but it was decent enough. It lacked passion, and the chemistry wasn't really all that strong either. Though the two main characters had purportedly liked each other before the story even began, the author did not give the relationship any background support so it was all to be guessed at. It just was not an enjoyable book.
Book four in the Noble Hearts Series, I get the impression you don’t need to read the previous books in this series (I haven’t) It’s a tale of mystery and intrigue and a little romance, of lost loves and maybe a second chance at happiness.
Honora made a mistake years ago, and she paid for it… When I first read about our FMC (Female Main Character) I thought her immature, selfish and shallow! But following her through her story, you get to know her better, and had to admire her in the end.
Benjamin doing his duty to king and country comes home to find his betrothed had not only jilted him, then taken her own life! Continuing his duty to the Royal family has Benjamin enjoying the intrigue, his mother wants him to settle down, but losing one lady love has him not wanting to experience the pain again!
We jump three years and Honora has a quiet life, bringing up her son. No one knows her, and so she moves back home to be with her family, but in doing so, brings her face to face with the one man she couldn’t forget! Benjamin is shocked to see what looks like his dead betrothed riding one day, hunting down the ghost of his past, he’s shocked to find out the ghost is real!
How can you forgive someone who not only disgraced themselves, but you as well? In this period of time ladies of society weren’t given the same rights as we have today. Dignity and propriety were everything, so being jilted was a big thing. He can’t understand why she didn’t just tell him!
It’s a shortish read (13 chapters just over 200 pages) and apparently it’s an extended version from an anthology. Maybe that’s why it feels a little rushed in parts! And that’s why I couldn’t really connect with the characters.
It is a little rushed in places, it also feels like a few things needed exposing more (a little more detail about a certain few things that happened in the book) But I still enjoyed the intrigue, I liked how Benjamin wanted to do his duty to his country, but also to Honora.
So can this pair find a second chance at happiness? Can Benjamin find and apprehend the person wanting to steal from the royal family? And will Honora be able to finally be free of her past?
This is Book 4 in the Noble Hearts series. This was such an intriguing and cleverly written story I was pulled in right away. A short story you can read in one sitting, but still leaving you satisfied at the end. Lady Honora escapes from an abusive marriage, and she does so in a most extreme manner - by faking her own death. Honora had been betrothed to Benjamin while he was off fighting in the war, but after a misguided night of frivolous fun, she ends up marrying the brute of a man who intentionally compromised her in order to get his hands on her dowry. She is "dead" for 3 years before Benjamin, while on a dangerous assignment, comes upon her. He has always been fascinated with her, and believes he has a second chance with her. But because of her past mistakes, Honora is filled with self doubt and doesn't trust her growing feelings for Benjamin. This heartwarming romantic story was delightful and held my attention the whole time. The characters were well defined and I enjoyed seeing the couple grow closer and there was no question as to how strong their chemistry was. A well-written book that I very much enjoyed and I look forward to reading more in this series.
I received a a complimentary advanced reader's copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.
OH SO CHARMING!!! My Lord, My Rogue by Anna St. Claire is book 4 in the Noble Hearts Series and it was terrific! Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. The beginning of this book had me on the edge of my seat. I found myself holding my breath it was that intense. What I really liked about this book was the creativeness and charm. There is nothing better than having a puppy and a 3 yr become best friends. Oliver and Riggs (Wiggs) were just too adorable. As far as Benjamin and Honora’s romance, it was soooo sweet and I just loved the greenhouse scene… you will know what I am talking about when you read this book. I also found this book well written, easy to read, original and gave a vivid description of the regency era. This story has an abusive husband, marrying the wrong person, hurting good friends, trying to make someone jealous, in hiding for 3 years, a very supporting family, rumors, forgiveness, fear and a second chance at love. I am highly recommending you read this book… I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
She faked her death and disappears to escape a abusive husband. Lady Honora Radcliff was betrothed to the most sought-after man of the Season— just not the man she loved. Lord Benjamin Crewe, the Marquess of Willington, planned to enjoy the Christmastide season relaxing. Instead, he accepts a dangerous assignment from the Crown and while working it, comes face to face with the woman he always wished he had married. Only she has been thought dead for three years. Needing answers, he pursues her at the same time a treacherous enemy of England surfaces, and the two of them become tangled in a web of danger, espionage, and deception. Anna St. Claire has written a special book. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
I loved this story. Lady Honora faked her own death three years ago to escape and abusive husband. She wanted to protect her unborn child. He parents even thought she had perished. When Honora was comfortable she contacted her parents and let them know that she was okay and they we’re grandparents. Benjamin has loved Honora but when she was engaged to his best friend he took a step back. But when she was thought to be dead he was devastated. Know three years later he and Adam sees a young woman riding a horse and he swears she’s Honora. When they sneak up on her they are correct. She explains what happened and Adam tells her she is forgiven because he has found the love of his life Evie. A wonderfully written story with a beautiful ending.
Honora life was in shambles she accepted a man that wasn't hers to love! She knew her best friend loved him and she was trying to make Benjamin jealous! Honora married a monster that just wanted her dowry Her mistakes hurt so many! She was beaten and abused so badly she faked her death! Hidden in the country her secrets come to light and Benjamin is again smitten! Little by little she is convinced she deserves to be courted and loved! But danger does surround this couple before their can be a HEA! Can they save the queen and have a future?
An adventurous plot, pleasant characters, an appealing child and his puppy. What is not to like? The anachronistic language that disrupts any sense of place, eg. A countess talking about her friend from College. Women did not have access to higher education. Similarly, having Bow Street Runners dress in their normal military uniforms—-the Runners were distinguished by their red waistcoats. Nor would they confirm “having a visual” on a suspect. Some malapropism too, deflects from enjoyment.
I loved this storyline! Lady Honora foolishly finds herself married to an abusive Marquess and pregnant, fearful and caught in a nightmare. She sees no way out except to fake her own death and disappear. She lives in hiding with her little son for three years. After all these years she then goes riding and runs into her former betrothed and her old friend and neighbor, Lord Benjamin . I was never really able to feel any connection between the two, so the romance wasn’t too credible for me
After taking her death to hide from an abusive husband Honora went into hiding, with only her aunt knowing she was still alive. But one day when out riding her former fiance and his best friend Benjamin (who she's secretly admired for years ) see her and her secret is exposed although they promise to not reveal it.
Really thought this book was going in one direction, but it swivelled and became something else. I still want to know the end to my expected book, not the sort end the book became.
A short and simple story about how Honoria finds her past secret lord whom she always liked (after going through hardships following her poor decision regarding her former marriage
I loved that Honora and Benjamin were given a second chance! I mean who wouldn’t want an opportunity for a do-over? Anna transports us to simpler time filled with wonderful characters.
