They say that Alpha-blood pups born under a full moon are destined for greatness. That males born will have all the strength the goddess can bestow. That they will bring their pack up to unrivaled strengths. A pack, an Alpha, that no wolf would challenge. But what of females?
Females of Alpha blood, born under the full moon are said to be not only much rarer, but much more valuable. They are always caring, highly intelligent, and beautiful she-wolves. Born Lunas. But, as women, they also hold the goddess's favor. A powerful female in a world of males. Because of this, these females are always given precious and powerful gifts. It's said that these women, 'moon babies', always birth powerful pups themselves. Strong future Alphas, Lunas, and warriors.
Such a gift, is always treasured and sought after. After all, who wouldn't want to be the father of the next generation of powerful pups? That is why, these females must always be protected. Allowed to find their goddess given mates.
*This book is a full length PNR novel which includes multiple mates at once. It is recommended for those age 18+ due to content.
I was really into the introduction. The premise of a moon blessed female who must be hidden in plain sight so that the rogues can’t take her was a cool idea. I love rejected mate shifter books. So I was excited for this.
Is it just me.. or does the fact that every shifter book has 18-21 year olds running the pack cause massive eye rolling? Like what/how/why is an 18 year old more mature and capable of running a fully functioning pack than say a 35 year old? Be honest they aren’t. So immediately I’m already put off.
When she meets the twins. I notice that the tones that all three of them spoke in was the same. They sounded and spoke alike and there was no way to tell the difference between the males except for their pet names. Everything was in their heads or communicated telepathically. There was just something about the authors writing style that kept me from being pulled into the story.
The fmc is written as this intelligent stoic and mature female who’s been trained and educated on all aspects of shifter life and how to perform as a Luna. On top of this she is also moon blessed with special powers. So in my mind, I expected her to be more badass. But she truly came off as bratty and immature. I didn’t connect with her.
The biggest disappointment is that the wolves are not really mentioned. I don’t like shifter books where the wolves do not have equal parts in the story.
Over all, I was not a fan of this book. The plot had a lot of potential but the characters missed the mark for me.
This book started out super good and captivating. Page turner for sure. But then when they got to some of the drama around the middle of the book, it just wasn't truly drama anymore. It suddenly turned into, female character is the only emotionally mature person in the room/ scenario and will always fix every issue that occurs. There's very quick forgiveness and the conversations that occur between the people of conflict are boring. They make the main female character have to repeat her very diplomatic answers over and over again, and make others dense. The conclusion was a happy ending, but it sort of sucked and just didn't make true sense for what all the drama was about the book. I ended up forcing myself to finish the book which was disappointing because when it started I was so captivated and loved it. Loved the drama. Loved everything. By the end I was so indifferent about the book
I stumbled across this book by chance after seeing an author I follow recommending it! The book didn't disappoint! Once I got started I couldn't put it down.
Although she seems to start out as quite a meek character Irie is definitely stronger than people give her credit for. While being the Moon Baby gives her certain strengths, she still has a lot to contend with. Her partner in crime Tori is brilliant too! Although as the book progresses her participation is lessened, she is still there to kick butt when needed.
Irie has many different things to contend with from a young age and when she finally turns 18 they come at her full force. Saying that I would happily contend with either Ian or Damien.
I did worry at one point things would play out differently but I am glad they didn't and instead the characters got a second chance at making better choices!
This is one of the best werewolf/mates stories I've read. The plot, characters, scenes are absolutely amazing. I'm also glad that this book had an independent female who wasn't a pushover and that her mates were intelligent enough to know they were wrong and apologize spectacularly. The threesome pairing was perfect. I liked how the story developed and ended. Was disappointed that there wasn't a longer epilogue but it was great. Some scenes had me laughing and some simping. Absolutely amazing.
I liked the story and the characters in this book but I was disappointed at the lack of wolves. This is a book about werewolves and they are rarely mentioned at all. The only wolf that was described at all was the FMC and it was very brief. Another annoying aspect was the FMC was supposed to be special and blessed but she really wasn't. Overall, this wasn't a bad read but it could have been better.
On top of the mistakes in the writing, I didn’t like that the characters were too much in their head. The story was told from the main characters point of view. That was a lot of inner thoughts. Towards the end, it felt like the story was being dragged. There were some funny and sweet scenes, but they were too seldom compare to the boring parts. Overall, reading this book till the end was a challenge.
I can’t say to much without spoilers but I want to know what’s so special about a moon baby? That’s what’s this books about but no clarification. And what’s up with the ending. If that’s what u call it. The book had some good parts but just fell flat. I did like how it started and getting to know what happened after the mating. She was to bratty, rejected mate and typical jealous ex. It had potential.
There’s nothing I love more than a strong female lead with a best friend that calls out all the boys on their crap. This story was fairly fast paced with some predictable moments but who doesn’t like a little drama. The important thing is that you go on a rollercoaster of emotions before getting the HEA that we all want from a good romance. Would I read it again? Yes I absolutely would.
The Moon Baby is an great book 📕 had a little of everything… I do wish that the main female character had a little more about her and the special abilities she has besides being able to make strong babies that run fast… I enjoyed listening 🎧 and reading this book . I would recommend reading this book.
Good characters and story building, would of been an easy read but, sadly full of typos and words put in sentences that didn’t make sense. Just for clarification I purchased this book through my kindle app, so can’t comment on a printed copy.
It was okay but one minute she all about her training and next minute she is just a baby maker, it felt like it was just jumping from one point to another as if reading one’s journal.
Elle Smith did it again. Very good story, this is why I put up with the virtual voice.. But shame on Audible for not putting human voices to her story's.
