From NFL superstars Tiki and Ronde Barber, a story of teamwork and determination—in the classroom as well as on the field.
The eighth-grade season couldn’t be going better for the Barbers’ team, the Hidden Valley Egales. Everything is off to a strong start—until one of the key players on the team is benched for academic probation. Without good grades there is no playing time. No exceptions. Ever. Will the team’s hopes for the season be demolished, or can they find a way to help their teammate get his grades up? Fortunately for the Barber brothers, it turns out that the team that plays together can study together too.
Tiki Barber is a record-holding retired running back for the New York Giants. Mr. Barber is currently a correspondent for NBC's Today show and an analyst for NBC's Football Night in America.
Ronde and Tiki's eighth-grade season couldn't be going better for the the Hidden Valley Eagles, (Barber's team). Everything is off to a strong start—until one of the key players on the team is benched for bad grades. Without good grades there is no playing time. No exceptions. Ever. Will the team's hopes for the season be demolished, or can they find a way to help their teammate get his grades up? Fortunately for the Barber brothers, it turns out that the team that plays together can study together too. Ronde and Tiki both wounded up to be drafted into the NFL. I would recommend this book for boys in elementary school.
I will admit - I'm sort of in love with Tiki Barber. But this book was painful. You'd think that between Tiki, Ronde and their (named) ghostwriter, they could have made a more graceful book.
Some good lessons for kids, to be certain, and I enjoyed all the football details, but the construction had some issues. Not even a third grader needs to be told the same plot point seven times.
Also, what's up with the cover illustration showing young children, when the players are in eighth and ninth grade?
Love this book so much! Though, it's quite confusing because of the plot being around American football. it was all worth it because the story was grat and I learned a few lessons in sports especially near the end. This book makes me want to read more from the Barber twins and learn more about American Football. Be proud, like happy proud not show off proud. Don't worry about teams and statistics because thats why there are tournaments to see the ranks then. It's a mental game and sometimes you might have to start off the field/court to finish your game.
Wild card is the next book in the Tiki and Ronde Barber's story. It is a new school year and a new football season is approaching.Everything is off to a strong start—until one of the key players on the team is benched for academic probation. Without good grades there is no playing time. No exceptions. Ever. I liked this book because it shows that even though there are tough times ahead like the loss of their star player they have to push themselves to active victory.I also like that Tiki and Ronde allowed the author to tell their story.
Wild Card- the book is “wild card” and the author is simon and schuster. the main characters are Tiki and Ronde Barber. The story take place on many different kind of football field. the conflict is that their team keep losing, so they work hard in practice and became the best team in the league. i learned that you must work for everything.
I enjoyed this book because it had a lot of climaxes and sometime some action. sometime it got me really existed. I’ve a few book about working hard and becoming one of the best because of working hard.
This is a great, short, and fun book. I would recommend this book to someone who likes sports books. This book has a great series and you will not want to put it down if you get into it. The series is about two twin boys who play football for there middle school, they are great kids and have a lot of friends. The book mainly is about them two and there life of playing football and going to school. They have some troubles along the way though. You will have to read the book to find out more...
I appreciate that the book teaches life lessons and emphasizes, positive behavior, but it's just not a great book. The football parts are just average and there's little development of the supporting characters. It's always nice to see books with non-typical lead characters (so that's a big plus), but it would be better if they were good reads.
Great book! The first one was good but this one was so much better their team worcked together very well to make it to the play offs. The three things i mostly liked was teamwork,a good sports book and i love the author he played pro NFL football.
