An action-packed book that kept me hooked from start to finish. Aubrey and her twin brother Jasper own Gemini Ranch, a guest ranch in Colorado. As the story opens, Aubrey is dealing with an ex-boyfriend, Warren, who won't accept that she's done with him. There is also a blizzard headed their way, and they have cattle to move in closer. Aubrey plans to call on some of her siblings to help when ranch guest Luke Bishop offers to help, claiming to have ranch hand experience. Aubrey, whose trust in men has been damaged by Warren, is wary of accepting his offer. Something about him rings warning bells in her head.

Luca Rossi, or Luke Bishop as he is known here, is an investigative journalist on the run from an Italian mob called the Camorra. After writing an exposé that sent most of the organization to jail, he's spent the last months running from the assassins sent after him. He just gets settled in a new place when they find him again. He hopes that by leaving Italy, they will have lost the trail. Even here, he keeps to himself and avoids the main lodge and groups of people. His only relief from growing boredom and restlessness is solitary rides around the countryside. When he hears Aubrey talk about moving the cattle, he immediately offers to help.

Aubrey's trust issues lead her to do something stupid, letting herself into his cabin when she thinks he's away. Instead, she sees something that rouses her suspicions more, just before Luke shows up from the shower. The sparks that fly between them are intense, Luke lays on the flirtatious Italian charm, and Aubrey finds herself agreeing to let him help. I loved watching them work together. The sparks are still there but take a backseat to their teamwork. The storm isn't their only danger; shots fired nearby make Luke think he's been found again, while Aubrey believes it's another rancher. When she expresses her concern to her FBI agent brother, Dominic, the results of his research ramp up his worry for her safety.

The intensity continues to build as further attacks on Luke occur over the next few days. The question is, who is behind them? Aubrey's ex wants her back and is none-too-happy at Luke's presence in her life. We also see that a hitman is on-site and has the determination and opportunity to carry out his mission. Meanwhile, Luke does his best to keep Aubrey safe while feeling guilty for putting her in danger. The final confrontation with the hitman was a nail-biter but left Luke hoping that maybe it was all over. However, he's unaware of the arrival of a new player in the game, one he's just started to suspect. There's an interesting twist to that confrontation, though its result wasn't much of a surprise.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Luke and Aubrey. The chemistry was intense right from the start, but both tried to resist it. Luke didn't want to expose Aubrey to the danger that followed him but staying away from her seemed impossible. Aubrey's trust issues kept her wary of getting too close, but the attraction was hard to resist. I loved Luke's protectiveness. Not only did he want to keep her safe from the trouble that followed him, but he also stepped in when Warren was being a jerk. When they gave in to the heat that burned between them, they realized that they were in deeper than they expected. I ached for Aubrey's heartbreak after that last confrontation. I loved the ending and the surprise waiting for Aubrey.

Eye-rollingly bad. Putting aside the author's unholy love of ellipses, the assassin was laughably bad, the romance was so instalove it almost hurt to read, and the two main characters barely had time for anything else they spent so much time navel gazing.

Just UGH.

Snowed In With a Colton is the second title in the multi-author miniseries, Coltons of Colorado, and delivers a tense, gripping suspense-filled romance between a man on the run for his life and one very stubborn woman.

Luca is a journalist who has gotten himself on the wrong side of an organized crime group in his homeland, one very accurate piece he wrote has sealed his fate… or at least, in the eyes of the criminals. He’s changed his name, left his home and family for their safety, and is constantly on the move trying to stay just ahead of the assassins sent to eliminate the problem he’s become. He is currently a guest, in a distant cabin at Aubrey’s, and her twin brother, Jasper’s dude ranch, Gemini Ranch. Unfortunately, Luke’s luck is about to run out… and betrayal from someone unexpected will not only expose him but also break his heart.

Aubrey doesn’t trust their newest guest, Luke. There’s just something about him that kicks off her danger warnings. It doesn’t help that she’s also dealing with an ex who doesn’t understand the meaning of “no” or ex-boyfriend. He refuses to give up and is quickly becoming a stalker. Aubrey and Jasper need to get their cattle to shelter with a blizzard quickly approaching the ranch, but their siblings will have difficulty getting to them in time. Luke offers to help as he’s had experience working on another ranch. Aubrey is skeptical but there really is no other choice. She’ll allow herself to do something foolish when she believes Luke isn’t in his cabin when she goes searching for him. She snoops and finds papers that she had no business reading, but that only increases her mistrust of a man who always seems to be looking over his shoulder.

I was easily caught up in the tensions and the romance of Snowed In With a Colton. I liked Aubrey, even understood why she was so unwilling to give Luke the slightest break. When life, or one person, beats you down and gives you good reason to not trust everyone on sight her reactions made sense. She’ll slowly thaw towards Luke but in spite of the attraction she feels for him, she needs proof that she can trust him. I adored Luke from the start. He’s given up so much to expose the criminal activities of really bad men, many of whom are now in prison. His determination to protect everyone around him, even Aubrey and Jasper, from the danger that constantly nips at his heels made him an intriguing character to me. I loved watching them fall in love, even in the midst of the chaos surrounding them.

There is danger, action-packed moments, fighting the elements, and the humans who make up that dangerous situation in Snowed In With a Colton that kept me on my toes throughout Luke and Aubrey’s story. There is also a sizzling attraction building between them, and of course, wouldn’t be complete without a twin’s, at times, outrageous protection. There is occasional laughter mixed in with the tensions which helped make this story believable. I had fun here, and if you love a good romance with touches of danger, secrets, and finding that perfect person for you… then you’ll want to pick up this story, this series soon.

I own a Kindle edition of this story.

Journalist Luca Rossi assumed a fake identity to hide from an Italian Mob. He moved to a dude ranch and said his name was Luke Bishop. He was instantly attracted to one of the owners of the ranch Aubrey Colton. Aubrey was leery of him because she felt he was hiding something. Luke was trying to stay away from her because he did not want her to be killed because someone was trying to kill him. He could not figure out how they kept finding him until it dawned on him the one person, he stayed in contact with.

I really enjoyed Snowed In With a Colton by Lisa Childs. Luca Rossi is a journalist that is hiding out at Aubrey Colton's dude ranch. She falls pretty fast for the new "cowboy" that's helping out during a snowstorm & the chemistry between the two heats up pretty quickly.
When bullets start flying they have to figure out if they are coming from Aubrey's ex or are they coming from someone else that Luca has been keeping a secret from Aubrey?

DNF at 20%. The insta love was too much and the writing felt like my mom's text messages (...). The premise was fun though and the reason why I picked this one up.
