Firstly, this is a book for GROWN-UPS. For those easily offended by non-traditional sexual practices or who have issues with interracial relationships, Love My Way will definitely NOT be your cup of tea. This is not the strict vanilla variety of BDSM (i.e. handcuffs and flowers) romance. Bridget Midway has done an incredible job of getting deep into the scene she writes with such candor and detail. She doesn't write to titillate or exploit. She writes as one who actually CARES about the subject enough to do her homework on a Lovestyle that is often mischaracterized and misunderstood by the general public.

But Love My Way is more than the sum of its parts. Here, Midway doesn't scrimp on the characters, even the minor ones. They are complex individuals with whom as a reader one forms an emotional bond with. Themes of love, family, boundaries and self-acceptance are deftly interwoven in a narrative that kept me glued to each page.

Interestingly, the hero, Eagan Morton, has moments where he is thoroughly unlikable. And you know what, that's okay. Midway writes with a classic subtlety where things are not always what they seem. Morton is a man who believes in control and acts upon it, and yet everything around him--from his high-powered career to his household subs, to even the woman he finds himself falling in love with--is out of his depth. As I read, I couldn't help smirking at the various ways Morton was getting his comeuppance. He starts out as a total control freak who concocts a plan to find his next permanent submissive--an edgy reality show called 'Love My Way'--and ends up discovering that some things in life are beyond money and status.

Dancer Ananda Zelder starts out as the classic woman scorned and out to get even. Morton sends her packing after an audition that everyone knows she should have won. Instead, she finds herself as a contestant on Morton's reality show and discovers a side of herself that existed deep inside her core. Ananda's gradual acceptance of her desires was natural--I didn't feel suddenly jarred by her wanting to be with Eagan as his permanent submissive. I felt the various wars inside of her--both mind and body--as she struggled to accept this new reality. Ananda was far from weak--she cheerfully breaks the rules as often as she can--and accepts the punishment that comes with each infraction. She gives Eagan Morton headaches (and h**d-ons) as he slowly nurtures her passionate side.

My favourite character by far was the voluptuous yet insecure Meadow, whom I kept hoping would somehow come into her own and accept herself as worthy of being Eagan's submissive. I would have liked for Ms. Midway to have allowed Meadow to grow as a woman--even if she wasn't the winner.

What I enjoyed the most about Love My Way is that Midway didn't gloss over the racial and gender dynamics of the Dom/sub relationship, but neither issue was the focal point and both were handled in a manner that savvy readers are allowed to make their own judgments. As a former member of this community and a woman of color, I thoroughly sympathized with many of the issues such a relationship often brings with it (and few in the BDSM community are willing to deal with openly and honestly). Then again, if one comes into Love My Way with preconceived notions of how things "ought" to be, one will be sadly disappointed.

'Love My Way' is simply a brilliant and edgy romance novel that takes the daring readers amongst us on a breathless and even humourous jounrney into BDSM. My hat (and flogger) off to Ms. Midway!

Nice solid effort. Similar to Hurt Me So Good (The Connaghers #2) by Joely Sue Burkhart but a lot longer and in depth. You get a lot of exploration of the different characters - and there is a very nice balance of showing and telling. Would be excellent for someone who wants to understand the mental/physical aspects of BDSM. This is not a hardcore book - and the characters have enough conflict (internal and external) to move the story but not so much that it is particularly angst ridden which is nice. It really is about the exploration. It's also educational - good!

This is not my first book by this author. I have a few of her books. However I wanted to read this story before reading book 2 which was just released this week.

This is Egan and Ananda's story.

I know I am late to the party and this book has been out a while, well it blew my socks off and I absolutely loved reading it! I have not read a lot of BDSM books but this one was eye opening to me. However, what I took from the story using BDSM as the vehicle to drive this love story, is that trust is paramount in relationships like these!!! You have to trust the Master with your dignity, your life, your emotions, your well-being. Then the Master should protect you from everything and everyone in return for your total commitment.

This story was out of the box for me and I really enjoyed reading it. It made a refreshing change from some the books I have been reading recently. I am off to read book 2 right now!

Grrr, I just lost my beautifully written well thought out review. Well perhaps it wasn't quite that perfect - but we'll never know! :-)

I enjoyed this book and it's unique premise of a reality tv show for choosing a submissive. The characters were engaging and had a depth to them not often seen in this genre of BDSM romance.

It did use a plot device that always aggravates me, keeping something hidden until a certain time. It always results in the secret coming out at the worse possible time - right before the secret keeper was going to tell - and with the maximum amount of misunderstanding as a result. It is just too cliche - like the TSTL woman going down into the basement to check on the noise she heard.

Aside from that, the story had humor, heart and complexity which held my attention from the beginning to the end.

This book was an exceptional read. I could not turn away from this story. Ms. Midway handles every concept of this book with such care - the lead and background characters, the description of the BDSM lifestyle, the story development, all of it was thoroughly done. I especially loved the fact that we actually got to experience the transformation of Ananda. I almost didn't buy this book because of the BDSM, but I wanted to read something different and I am so happy I did. I read this book over the weekend, and know I will be re-reading it soon - like tomorrow! I am also on the hunt for more of Ms. Midway's books!

I got this book as part of the 12 days of christmas from all romance. I dont know what I was expecting but it wasn't this! The book is based around a reality TV show called "love my way" where Master Eagan searches for his perfect submissive. I really dont think the television censors in the UK would have passed it but wow I think it would have created quite an audience if it got aired!

Anader participates in the show purely in an attempt to humilate Eagan in revenge for a less than flattering asessment of her dancing at an audition. As they are all wearing masks for the entirity of the show he has no idea. Determined to win she throws herself into the world of BDSM, along with 12 other girls, to participate in several "challenges" to prove to Eagan that she is willing to submit to him completely. One by one the participants are eliminated as they fail to impress Eagan during the challenges because, as he admits freely throughout the story, although to TV viewers this is just a game, the outcome to him is serious.

This was a novel concept that is very well written. It is BDSM-lite (chains, wax play, some spanking etc) with no scenes that will completely offend anyone who is only curious in this genre. Eagan is fab...completely dreamy dom! Anader begins the book as a bit of a brat but as she gets more into the competition (and more into Eagan) she grew on me ten fold. I loved the fact that Eagan tries to be completely unbiased throughout the competition but can't help secretly hoping that Anander wins. The other characters were well written and enjoyable! They are completely secondary until a very random bit where one of the minor characters suddenly becomes very important (I did get a little confused as the writer suddenly seemed to decide that the competition was a little one-sided and big up another character) The ending was lovely..a perfect end to this book!

All in all a good book!

Well recommended!

Okay, I've been looking for BWWM erotic and had high hopes for this story. Sadly, it let me down. Ananda becomes a contestant on a realty show where Eagan is searching for his next submissive. Amanda is competing so she can get revenge by winning and then publicly dismissing and embarrassing Eagan just as he did when she auditioned for a part as a dancer in a show he was casting. During the realty show she discovers that she is a true submissive and loves Eagan. The issue of race were raised in the BDSM context but was dismissed without discussion. This was disappointing. Her coming out as a submissive to her family was a short and superficial scene where no one asked questions and her family just cuts all ties with Ananda.

The characters just never came to life and never captured my imagination.

Oh My!!!!

I didn't know what to expect, but it was well written, and I loved how even though it was about Eagan, Ananda proved herself. I thought her mom was rough, and I think that she was speaking from anger, I don't understand how a parent can throw away their relationship with their child cause you don't like their life choices!!!!!
