The aftermath of the naval battle for Westia has left Vannessa and Zirkseas broken. Lox is faced with two goals: find a way to heal the people he cares about and hunt down Ike for a little payback.
The conflict between Ambros and the King is coming to a head, and the Kingdom of Sails is primed for revolt.
The water will run red with blood as Lox and crew carve a path to the Throne of Sails.
Ok I wrote a really long review detailing why I gave 2 stars, but it didn't save and I'm too frustrated to write it again (via phone) so foot notes version.
1. Spelling/grammar, typos, editing all got worse. 2. Dialogue, character voice, character development almost completely stalling 3. Plot holes (mind scape, not using magic that could have made things easier), paper thin antagonist, repetitive descriptions (everything gets "hammered" by attacks or "waves of energy"), lacklustre battle scenes 4. Inconsistencies in plot, interesting threads left hanging or dropped entirely for seemingly no reason
I overlooked a lot in previous books since I enjoyed other parts and they held it together for me. but too many new problems came up in this one, along with older issues getting much worse so it's a no continue for me
I will start by saying this volume in particular had a great many grammatical and spelling errors. It felt much more pronounced than the previous volumes. That said, while it was distracting, I still enjoyed reading it. The story wraps up a very long term quest for the team, and sees a few new things happen for the crew of the Audacious. Not many threads are left to pull on, so I'm hoping we get some new content and adventures in the next volume.
I also enjoy the randomness of the Immortal communication exerpts at the start of each chapter. They create great flavoring for the world at large.
I really struggled to finish this one. I like the story but the writing, editing and grammar is sub par. There are lots of additional words or wrong words that forced re-reading many sentences just to figure out what was intended. Some major story lines that took a couple books to build were resolved in less than a page. Very disappointed. Not sure if I'll read the next book when it's released. If I didn't get these through Kindle Unlimited I wouldn't have finished the second one much less 3 and 4.
I really want to give this 5 stars. I love the story, however there are way too many editing errors. There are so many incomplete sentences and several sentences that just don't make sense. I really struggled this time. This book felt like a first draft copy. I won't be reading any more of these books, which is sad because I really enjoy the story.
This story of a paralyzed engineer going into a game that’s actually a new reality was kind of bizarre. The Mc is op but lacks common sense and kills his self more times experimenting with magic more than any monsters or enemies. The location is a bunch of islands so lots of pirating actions. Good Read
Lovely book in a wonderful series my only issue is that the author can get a little bogged down in the magical engineering it’s kinda like reading a Tom Clancy novel really good stories and characters but unless you are a techy you may have to skim a few pages 😁
Cute. Not as good as previous books. Doubt I will continue this series. Enjoy parts about the ship and character progression, but the political overlay just bores me.
This volume seems to have missed the proof reading the others had. The story is fine but there are a lot of mistakes at the sentence level, enough so that it becomes distracting.
I had a hard time getting through some of the book due to the poor editing. I liked the magical engineering but thought the story was a bit thin and the fight scenes rushed.
This series started so well , the first two books were excellent but the standard has crashed and it's really hard to care about Lox and his companions.
