A spilled coffee, an arrogant jerk, and my new boss. What else could go wrong?
With his pretty blue eyes and entitled attitude, Joshua Ward walks around like his sole mission is to make my life as difficult as possible. But I’m not prepared to let this new high-paying job go, so I roll up my sleeves and prepare to work.
Except, one late night work session, I kiss my enemy and my perception starts to shift. I see beyond the tailored suits and custom-ordered ties. Joshua Ward is more than his money.
Sparks fly between us, and he makes it clear he wants me as his next big project. But can either of us really trust? I’m not the only one who is afraid of love.
I could never fall for a man like Joshua Ward… Could I?
Sharon Woods writes spicy, feel-good contemporary romance novels. Based in Melbourne, Australia, with her husband and two children. She drinks a lot of coffee, loves to workout, explore new places, and has an unhealthy addiction to reality TV.
The beginning of the book was not good. The writing style totally confused me. The dialogs and Monologs were bad. (DISCLAIMER: The first 45%)
Enemies to lovers they said, hell no. It was 𝙄𝒏𝙨𝒕𝙖 𝙡𝒐𝙫𝒆. They crashed in a coffee shop, she spilled her coffee on him and he fell so hard for her. They only “hated” each other for a short period of time, I don’t call that enemies to lovers, Ive read enough books to know that.
I was about to stop, but it got better at 45% or something. It was a hard, boring and a loooooong way to get there.
I have to give you some positive points, so here they are, it was pretty cool after they liked each other and his friends are awesome. He’s also caring for people, that’s it. It’s 3 Am and I’m not in the mood to write anymore.
He wanted the things to be casual ( “no strings attached”) and she always said: “hEs a PlAyBoY, and I cannot be in a casual relationship” (SPOILER: she always came back, shock😧).
He has daddy issues and she had uncle and aunt issues (so many issues). So exhausting.
Anyways…
The word “Babe” made me throw up. Do you know who came to my mind when he says “Babe”?
Wait, let me try a gif ….
✨Imagine a gif✨
It doesn’t work( how are you guys doin that? If you know it, please tell me. That’s would be cool) ______
Back to the Subjekt😄
I meant ✨Brett Willis✨ from Kc Undercover.
If you read this after reading the book, then we’re thinking the same, don’t we🤪 That word cringed me.
The ending was expected.
I think, that I said enough about this book. Wasn’t happy to continue with it, but very happy to finish it alive.
I hope that I didn’t spoil it to much, I’m normally a kind rating giver, but this book got on my nerves. It had some good aspects and good chapters, but only Some
This was a fun enemies-to-lovers office romance! Ava needed a new job; her current office is going out of business. She quickly finds another gig as an administrative assistant and is thrilled. Not even a horrible encounter with a meanie over spilled coffee can ruin her day.
Too bad the so-called meanie is the CEO of her new company.
The banter between Ava and Joshua is entertaining. I love that Ava has no pushover for the bossy Mr. Ward. In between their witty exchanges, we also get to know these two better and find that they have more in common than we thought.
It is somewhat of a slow burn on the path to their happily ever after, but the chemistry meanwhile sizzles as we enjoy their back-and-forth.
If you have read Accidental Neighbor, you will enjoy seeing Thomas and Jen again. If you are new to the series, this can still be read as a standalone.
** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Sharon Woods and Give Me Books PR for providing an ARC. **
I loved Joshua’s and Ava’s chemistry, connection and especially their banter. Ava is my favorite character. She is such a strong person. She had a great childhood until she lost her parents and had to take care of herself from a very young age. Despite all the hardships, she still has a heart of gold.
I also loved that Thomas (from Accidental Neighbors) was one of the secondary characters. Truly loved him and if you haven’t read his book, you definitely should.
When Ava is let go from her job she worries about her next step. Then she sees an ad for an assistant job and applies for it. Joshua was busy partying and having random hookups until his father signed the business over to him. When he dug into the paperwork, he learns the business was in trouble bad. He got some help from a friend and started getting things back up to shape. Ava is on her way to look at where her new job is when she runs into a man at a coffee shop. Their banter is explosive before they go on their way. When Joshua goes to see Thomas, an employee working for him he is stunned to see the woman from the coffee place sitting as his assistant. Sparks fly between them as the continue their banter. Will Ava find something more at her new job? Will Joshua forgive his parents?
This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC of this book from Sharon Woods and after already having read (and loved) her other 2 books, I couldn't wait to read this one!! ❤️
This book did not disappoint, I quickly read it in a few days. I love the easy flow of this authors writing, I'm always captured right from the beginning and love to see how the story will play out! Ava and Joshua are the stars of this novel in an enemies to lovers office romance. From their first disastrous encounter in the coffee shop to their feisty banter once they start working together, I really enjoyed the build up to their eventual love story. The chemistry between them was sizzling but also really sweet. I loved reading more about Thomas and Jennifer too, who were featured in another one of the authors books, Accidental Neighbour.
I loved Bossy Mr Ward and can't wait to read the next one in the series featuring another character in this novel once it comes out! ❤
Joshua Ward runs Ward Electrical and Infrastructure. Eva Johnson is the new receptionist. Both get off to a rocky start. I got chills multiplying reading right through this book. The love shows through and the chemistry is so amazing. This book had it all wrapped up for me and found myself sobbing at the beautiful ending. Its beautiful just beautiful to read.
Reading the previous books of this author I was so in love with her writing and the characters she made. They were fierce, strong and passionate. But I was missing something in this one. Ava is a big surprise question to me. She chose the job at company of the hero because her last one went broke and the owner had to close it. So she got drunk, applied for the job and wow! She got it. I loved that she was really close with the owner and even cried when she found out. Mostly I enjoy the clinge meetings between characters so I was so excited when she dolled the coffee on him and that’s how their relationship started, but I hated that both of them started assuming the worsts about the other one. Their banter and the tension were hot: in some moments, in other I didn’t even feel it. I WANTED MORE AND MORE OF THEM. Their talk about “past” did not make me feel like they connected in some kind of way. They started talking about it without any contest and even then they didn’t share “feelings”? I wanted more cute moments, instead I got a big amount of misunderstandings and them fighting about I don’t know what. “Mr. Bossy Ward” was not so bossy after all. I expected some GIANT ASSHOLE but what I got was a sweetheart that was a little ass to the heroine. I wanted the angst, emotions, HATE LOVE AND EVERYTHING. And what I got was pretty basic with a lot of misunderstandings and sometimes cute relationship.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
i dont usually leave reviews, but i didn’t see many that thought the same as i did so i thought id leave this one. this book was an easy read, however not necessarily a good one. i really liked the concept of the book, but its just not written very well and feels super rushed. there’s a lot of pointless conversations and writing, that could have been removed to make up for more development between the main characters. they go from randomly despising each other over an accident, and then after one small encounter they are both invested with each other and the hatred is gone basically immediately. the whole thing is super rushed, the characters have a mishap and she goes back to hating him for weeks on end and refusing to speak to him properly then he shows up at her house randomly and they have sex and he decides hes ready to be in a relationship that same night after the whole issue was about how he’s not ready for one. as well as this, out of nowhere he just pays off a condo for her, even though he still doesn’t want a relationship. and then theres 2 chapters in between this and the epilogue in which they get engaged. it was just really rushed, there was a lot of repetition in dialogue where the characters were telling each other about things they had already shared and i just didn’t really enjoy it. i haven’t read any of her other books so they may not be the same, but this didn’t want me to read the next one either. i did like the characters in it, just not the way it was wrote.

Joshua Ward and Ava Johnson’s story has a bit of a rough beginning over an incident in the coffee shop. But Ava is a strong character who stands up for herself and does not let anyone push her around. But the arrogant man she encounters ends up being her new boss, which makes things a little awkward. Yet there is no denying the chemistry between them. Can hostility turn into the start of a romantic relationship? The banter and obvious attraction will keep the reader smiling as the two deal with each other and find out if perhaps they were meant to be.
Bossy Mr. Ward by Sharon Woods is book Two in The Gentlemen Series. This is the story of Joshua Ward and Eva Johnson. Joshua was a hard core playboy but then his father has signed off on Joshua taking over their company 'Ward Electrical and Infrastructure'. So now he is working to build that company up. Along the way he has a run in with Eva at a coffee shop and words along with sparks fly between the two. Eva finds that her new boss is Joshua. Enjoyed their story.
This was a really fun romance between two people who work at the same company, he is Joshua Ward, not just works there but he is the boss of Ava's boss, Thomas, and they HATE each other when they first meet.
Before I go on I want to mention that this is book 2 in a series and the first book, Accidental Neighbor is the first book. I received a copy of that book to review as well and so I did read it first. While Bossy Mr. Ward can easily be read as a stand alone. I do suggest you read Accidental Neighbor first because it was an awesome story and also it introduces Ava, Josh and also Thomas and their friend James who the 3rd book is about.
In Accidental Neighbor we get to know Thomas and his two daughters and his backstory and we also meet he much younger next door neighbor. It was also a fun story but its more of the hot teacher of his kids romance with a HUGE age gap and a second chance for love for Thomas. The scenes in Accidental Neighbor were really great when we get to see Josh and Ava's scenes together and so I could not wait to get Josh Ward and Ava's story. How they began, what all the hate was about and watch them fall for each other.
Bossy Mr. Ward starts off at the beginning for both Ava and Josh. They both end up in very difficult positions when this story begins and they manage to turn their luck upside down and I loved watching them the first time they meet and why they hate each other.
Ava was such a hard worker and I liked getting more details on her work relationship with Thomas and how what happened to Thomas also impacts Ava's life and work relationship with Josh. We get a close look at how as they work together they start to let down some walls and start to appreciate the other and I loved how attracted they are to each other.
This was an awesome story the only thing I did not like was the mentions of Candace and then how she impacts the later part of the story. But I did adore Ava and how open and honest she is with Josh and I liked that he is so honest with her about things. The author could have dragged it out and I loved that she didn't.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
5 ⭐️ - holy sh*t, this book has me in a chokehold and honestly i’m obsessed! - okay, first let’s talk about our mc’s ava & josh. josh is the ceo of ward industries whilst ava is the assistant to one of joshes employees, thomas (who we meet in accidental neighbour). josh and ava’s first interaction was a MESS so what happens when josh and ava are forced to get along and work together? - now what i loved? THE TENSION. i loved the whole will they, won’t they type interactions we see in the first part of this book, and then the chemistry? again it was out of this world! it felt like i was right alongside with them, when ava fell for josh b*tch I FELL TOO. (also top tier smut) - also let me talk about ava real quick! usually when you think office romance a shy timed girl comes to mind… but that’s not the case with ava. one thing i loved about her was there she gave it as good as she got! if josh was there bossing her around you can guarantee that ava gave it back twice as hard. *swoons* i’m in love with her <3 - but on real note though, i loved how this book felt with some deeper topics. you could definitely feel all the hurt these character went through. it also felt like it relatable; nothing felt added in just for a quick sob story. it was almost was if josh and ava were real people dealing with real life which i genuinely appreciated. - long story short if you’re looking for a hot office romance with all the feels, this is definitely your book! - disclaimer: arc provided for honest review. all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Office Romance venite a me!!
I enjoyed this romance story with all of the characters. The main two characters were Ava and Joshua.
Ava has recently lost her job because they were closing the company. Now she has to look for a new job. While drinking wine she applies to a job that is might not be that qualified for. The next day the company that she applies to calls and she gets the job. She decides to see were this job is located at after that she see a cafe that serves coffee and decided to get a coffee. But on the way out she dumps into a cute guy and spills her coffee over him. He turns out to be a jerk. But when she shows up for her job she finds out that the jerk is the COE for the company.
Joshua is a playboy. His father has gave him the business company. Now he has to figure out how to run the company. With his friends help the company survives.
This was a fun story to read. It had quite a bit of funny parts that had me giggling or laughing to.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
Joshua Ward runs the company where Ava is newly employed but she didn't work directly for him at first. Their first meeting didn't go so well, and it left a bad taste in her mouth. However, when they start working closely together, things shift as she goes toe to toe with him so the sparks start flying. I love a good office romance, and Bossy Mr. Ward had it in spades as I really loved this couple. The chemistry was thick so it was like I was in their presence as things progressed, and they sure knew how to make sexy times HOT! Sharon Woods penned a fantastic story that I experienced rather than merely reading, so I also could feel the pain these two had in their past like it was my own as it was very relatable. I really love this series so I'm super excited for the next book, and I believe you'll feel the same way after hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Sharon Woods has written a wonderful world with complex characters and I'm totally here for it. Joshua is given a company by his father that is in financial ruin. He decides to quit his drinking and partying days and focus on the business so he can make it profitable again. Ava is an executive assistant and the company she works for is going out of business, so she has to find another job. One morning Joshua had Ava bump into each other in a café spilling coffee over Joshua's shirt, they bicker about it and go their separate ways not liking one another. Joshua goes into the office and sees that his partner Thomas hired Ava as his new assistant. The two have great banter and find one another attractive. Thomas has to take time off for a family emergency so now Joshua and Ava must work together. As they work together they learn about each other and start having feelings for each other, no matter how hard Joshua fights it. Story ends with a great HEA.
Sharon Woods is a new to me author, and if I have stalked her correctly she is new to her craft. If that is true, I think she has done a fabulous job. Sports romance novels are my absolute favorite books to read, but Boss/Employee books come a very close second. I adored Ava in this story. To begin with I thought she was a bit wishy washy, but as the story progresses I realized she is one strong woman. She didn’t necessarily want to fall for Joshua, but she let herself give whatever was happening between them both a chance. But she very much valued herself as well. When it looked like he was playing games she stood up for herself and walked away. I basically applauded her right there and then. This ended up being a wonderful book to read and I will definitely keep my eye peeled for James’s story when it is released. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

I really enjoyed the plot in this book. I haven’t read the first book in the series, but it’s officially been added to my TBR list. My favorite part was the tension between Ava and Josh.
I absolutely loved Ava. She had the confidence I wish a lot of MC had. She knew her worth and knew how to use her assets. I’ll be honest, I didn’t connect much to Joshua.I wish there was a bit more character development for him. That’s the only reason it got 4 stars though.
Good simple romantic comedy 4.5 It's a good enemies-to-lovers romance. It has a predictable side to it, but it's very enjoyable to read, with characters who can't stand each other over incidents that wouldn't merit as much grudge, but which in the face of their pride does not come down. It's partly these conflicts between Ava and her boss Joshua that allow the romance to evolve with a dash of comedy. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Oh, so good! Joshua and Ava’s story sort of stars off as an enemies to lovers, transitions to workplace / boss/employee bust still slightly enemies to lovers. And it was so dang good!! Following along as these two “broken” souls find their passion and their healing with one another was so beautiful. Their banter and the smexxy times? Whew! I’m here for it all!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the series. Now Josh rubbed me the wrong way at first. He is a guy you have to hang in there because once you get inside his head the better you understand him. I like Ava a lot. She brings out a new side of Josh. Their banter was one of my favorite parts of the book. A delightful read. I also enjoyed catching up with Thomas.
ARC REVIEW! 5/5⭐️ The sexual tension between Josh & Ava in the first 30% is unreal I loved it! It got me all hot & bothered for them 😂😂 I absolutely love an office romance. 2 people with troubled pasts can they overcome there issues & be together?
This book did not disappoint! I read it in a day and the author has such a knack for writing. It flows easily and her writing was so well done I could see the scenes playing out in front of me.
Ava and Joshua’s chemistry is off the charts from the moment they meet in the coffee shop all the way to the end. Even if they are enemies at first, you can still tell there is heat there. I loved how hard of a worker Ava was and how she didn’t let the way Joshua was to her at first affect who she was or what she was doing.
I didn’t find Joshua as bossy as I thought he would be because I was expecting he was going to be such an ass but there is a sweet man underneath the rugged exterior he tries to play off. If you like enemies to lovers, office romance, give this one a read!
I think this has to be a DNF for me. I might finish it but the writing is painful and I find myself cringing way more than I should at only 9% in. I want to try and power through because I hate to DNF but I’m not sure yet.
Joshua Ward is the eternal party boy. His parents had him in order, to say they had a child. He is the show child. The one they can parade around at events, to friends, and, to say see we are accomplished like everyone else. Now off, to boarding school with you. No love was spared, or one-on-one time shared, with their son. It was always about them, their happiness, and, their comfort. The more they didn't see of him, the better. Hence, why his, Playboy ways of, jet-setting, and spending money never fazed them.
However, he is about, to have a come-to, Jesus moment. The father that has never bothered, to spare him a side glance in years, is all of a sudden demanding his, presence at his office. What's pissing him off more than anything else on this day, is that if he knew about the meeting ahead of time, he wouldn’t have partied so hard. Especially, knowing he would be sporting the migraine he now has.
In a surprise turn of events, his dad signs the business over to him. Then, bails. Now, that is one quick way to sober you up. He goes through every single paper his dad had in his office he is broke. The bastard bankrupted the company. Josh calls, James his BFF. They reinvent the company into something that is manageable and that makes Josh proud to work at daily. His life is the business now to make it a success to rub his parent's noses in it. James hires his staff, with their best friend, Thomas as the one that negotiates, sets up, executes, and oversees all the projects. But, James hired the other important positions. Including, Thomas’s personal assistant at an electrical company.
Ava Johnson on the other hand had, lived a rough life, with no stability. She had worked for the paper company, for eight years. She loved the job. It was a small operation, in the country, and she had an orderly setup. Moving to the city, to work will be a shock, to the system. She is leery of the city especially, after having lived on the street, for a while. Her parents had died, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the worst of it. What was she bringing to the table? What was the appeal that, Josh sees in her? She is more than attracted to, Josh, but she is not going, to be anyone’s fk and chuck. Especially, a pretty, rich, and spoiled party boy like, Josh.
I really enjoyed this story. Ava is her authentic self. Her having her nose and tongue ring. As well as, some you can’t see. She is twenty-six, single, and makes no excuses for it. She didn't care if, Josh was, the CEO, if she didn’t think the things he asked of her were work-related, or to the other things outside the bedroom, she either said no, to it or ignored it altogether.
I’m slightly annoyed by my final reactions to this book, but they all hold merit so I’m sticking to my guns here. Oh yeah, no spoilers.
The plot - office workplace romance, enemies to lovers, a few minor triggers so CHECK YA TRIGGERS just in case, you know the drill. Smut was fine, a 2/5 on the spice scale; frequent enough but mid. It’s your standard office romance between CEO and employee, the vibes are standard. Now the issue with it is that not only are there a dozen and one clichés in this book, but the writing style feels stilted. Very clunky and it doesn’t flow smoothly. I skipped whole paragraphs of pointless description. Do I care about the 20 step getting ready routine the FMC has before work? No. You know what I WANTED to see? The FMC cleaning up after sex the dirty bitch. Lube from condoms is STILL DISGUSTING HUN. Ugh. Anyway, and the epilogue felt rushed, completely from left field mind, but it just lacked any emotion.
The MC - I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t actually bond with Ava as much as I expected to. There were a few mentions of potential autism/trauma/panic attacks but it amounted to nothing. Perfect opportunity for hurt comfort moments and angst (if you’ve already got the other triggers, why not run the full mile with it?) She was 2D. I’ll be honest. Her whole character felt like an afterthought. You could swap her out for any FMC I’ve read about in the last 2 months and she wouldn’t be missed.
The male counterpart - Josh was a decent MMC. Male characters in romance novels are for the majority above par, and Josh was the same. Did I like some of the 180’s he did? No. Did I like that one minute he was a relationship-phobe and the next he was declaring love? No, but that was the author’s issue, not Joshua’s. Broody fucked up male; that’s how I’d sum him up.
