Marko is a young Russian who was suddenly teleported to the Bureau of End Management, an organization responsible for keeping space operating smoothly. Frustrated by being forcibly selected as staff, Marko attempts to escape back to Earth where his partner awaits but fails spectacularly. As Marko decides to make the best of his new “mission,” his heart is swayed by encounters with planets and aliens beyond imagination.
This is a fantastic series that deserves more attention. The author has put so much detail into developing not just the main characters, but the various worlds and cultures explored. The journey Marko takes throughout the galaxy is filled with humor, heartbreak, and important questions of morality. I love it.
'Correspondence from the End of the Universe' is okay this time around, but feels a little unfocused to me. I enjoy the whimsical planets to a point, but the two big threads in this volume are the main character's missing heart (literal) and also how much he wants to get back home to Earth and his abandoned fiancee - which seems like it should go well together, but the two storylines don't seem to be connected to each other, which feels like a missed opportunity. It makes me less interested in continuing; we'll see how I feel once the next volume rolls around.
Another interesting volume of lots of different worlds and creatures and peoples. I personally loved the first volume more than this one but it was pretty good too. It just amazes me how many new ideas the author comes up with and the details that go into the stories sometimes.
4.5/5.The second volume is even better and expands on the world building and also the art is very good, the new alien races introduced some of them are interesting. The story is also continuing to evolve and i will definitely keep reading. The author of the series needs more attention honestly.
3.75 stars. The translation/writing flowed a lot better for me in this volume compared to the first, and there were some really lovely moments and cool concepts. I’m really enjoying the extra content and world-building at the end of the volumes too! I will continue on with this series, though I’m not in a big rush.
