Miko loves bread and pastries - upon reading a job ad for a bakery in Tokyo, she makes it her ambition to become a baker. She leaves for Tokyo and lands an apprenticeship at her desired bakery Saint Molly. To her surprise, her new boss Morishita is not much older than herself.
Warning: this cute but rather naive oneshot is a true shoujo in the sense that you'll need to cast some disbelief aside to even remotely enjoy the story. Miko moves to Tokyo based on an ad for one single job - she is young, there's no sense of what her parents think of all this, no indication of how she is financing herself and, above all, she moved there before even applying for this job. Incidentally, Morishita, also a minor, was left behind by his parents who decided to go on a one-year-long cuisine training tour around France. The bakery Saint Molly is entirely run by minors.
On the bright side, it's refreshing to see a romance shoujo that doesn't actually start off with romance. Miko genuinely loves bread, and I can't blame her as I am a bread and pastry lover myself. She is enthusiastic, determined to make her dream come true and brings creative ideas to her new job. The romance aspect comes in later and is a tad rushed but that's to be expected from a oneshot. It's cute but nothing groundbreaking - still, it's nice to see them bond over a shared passion. Not to mention the other colleagues involved who are equally devoted to their work.
Halfway through the story, Morishita's irresponsible parents show up again and perhaps it was good that they left the minors to run their business; they're hopelessly idiotic characters who are practically the villains of the plot. Mind you, this is a fluffy manga where the villain's role merely comes down to the hardness of bread.
The art is very cute - it's still not on par with Chiba's more recent works but you can often see her pretty style shining through. Unfortunately, once again, she fails at drawing adults who essentially look like the minors, just with some added glasses and a few wrinkles.

Und das zahlt sich auch aus, denn sie bekommt die Lehrstelle, und außerdem entpuppt sich ihr Chef Morishita auch als echte Sahneschnitte! Zwischen Eiern, Mehl und Milch kommen sich die beiden allmählich näher.
Die junge Miko möchte ihren ganz großen Traum leben und in der Bäckerei Saint Molly arbeiten, die das beste und leckerste Brot der Welt herstellt. Dafür ist sie extra nach Tokyo gezogen und macht sich gleich am ersten Tag auf, um in dem Geschäft vorstellig zu werden. Und ehe sich Miko so recht versieht hat sie auch schon den Job und kann ihr Glück kaum fassen. Doch trotzdem ist sie schockiert, denn ihr Chef Morishita ist gerade einmal so alt wie sie selbst. Sie beobachtet ihn immer bei seiner Arbeit und muss bald feststellen, dass auch er für seinen Beruf und seinen Traum alles gibt. Ein Grund mehr für Miko, um sich richtig hinein zu hängen. Mit ihrer quirligen Art und ihren Ideen begeistert Miko den sonst so unnahbaren Morishita. Doch kann man noch das beste Brot backen, wenn man sich nicht mehr voll und ganz auf seine Arbeit konzentrieren kann?
Dieser süße One-Shot hat fast alles, was das Herz begehrt. Eine wirklich schöne Story, die süßer nicht sein könnte, auch wenn sie rein logisch nicht unbedingt so geschehen könnte. Dazu wunderschöne Zeichnungen und eine wirklich einmalige Idee, welche so noch nicht für mich bekannt war. Einzig der viel zu schnelle Ablauf der Geschichte macht mich persönlich etwas unzufrieden, weshalb ich zumeist One-Shots einfach meide. Die Szenensprünge sind mir einfach zu krass. Leider kann sich trotz des Zuckerfaktors der Geschichte die Liebe zwischen Miko und ihrem Chef Morishita nicht wirklich entfalten - es geht einfach zu schnell und ergreift den Leser nicht wirklich zu hundert Prozent.
Trotzdem möchte ich den Manga unbedingt empfehlen, da die Idee wirklich einmal etwas ganz anderes ist und dieser One Shot ganz ohne die üblichen Stilmittel des Mangas auskommt - es gibt keine Magie, kein großes Drama, keine Kämpfe. Es ist einfach nur süß.

Mir gefällt das Cover gut, es ist einfach ziemlich süß.
Thematik
In dem Buch geht es um ein Mädchen das unbedingt in einer Bäckerei arbeiten möchte und dies auch schaft, doch dort warten ganz andere Herausforderungen als sie denkt.
Charaktere
Miko ist ein sehr fleißiges Mädchen und liebt es Menschen glücklich zu machen.
Morishita ist vorübergehend Chef in der Bäckerei seines Vaters und das bedeutet viel Verantwortung.
Handlungsort
Der Manga spielt hauptsächlich in der Bäckerei und sie ist einfach traumhaft dargestellt. Man hat direkt den Wunsch da auch mal einkaufen zu gehen.
Zeichnung
Die Zeichnungen der Mangaka gefallen mir sehr gut. Sie sind an den richtigen stellen Detailreich und man kann sich alles sehr gut vorstellen.
Umsetzung
Mir hat die lockere Art in dem Manga sehr gut gefallen und das es zeigt das der Beruf doch um einiges härter ist als man denkt.
Fazit
Insgesamt ein sehr gelungener Manga mit einer wunderschönen Geschichte.

It isn't really a full story, it is more like the happy beginning of one without the main part or ending - just the beginning and the epilogue. Still, it was sweet and nice and a relaxed short read.

I'm pretty sure I've read this in scanlation before. It's a one-volume complete story which is elevated above the average shoujo book, because the heroine and her love interest are working in a bakery. It's a book for girls who don't go to university, but take up artisan work - something I've rarely come across in the manga translated (even in scanlation manga).
First and foremost the girl falls in love with baked goods and the atmosphere of a bakery (and travels to Tokyo just to work there - yup, pure shoujo shenanigans), and then there's her boss - who seems rather young: he's actually the son of the owner and baker who up and left him to study some more baking in France (with his wife - some more shoujo shenanigans).
So we have the newbie and her enthusiasm, the stoic but deeply-committed baker guy and two helpers, a boy and a girl who are two years older than heroine and hero, who've been working there before. There's a lovely focus on how happy the various offerings make various people (makes me think about Yakitate JaPAN a bit) and all the work that actually goes into baking.
Their love relationship flows fairly smoothly although the older boy is drawn to the heroine's feeling for the hero and makes a fast play for her, soon foiled by the hero (it's a one-volume manga after all, so there's no drawn out soap opera). And it does lead to some very revealing behaviour by the hero, so the heroine gets up her courage to openly declare her love - awww ^^. I find it all rather empowering for the target audience ^^
And then hero/heroine and their helpers even manage to convince the returning father and bakery owner, that their way of doing things has value. You can't get more upbeat then that, I'd say. Kids, be ambitious!

Der ist sicherlich kein Meisterwerk aber er hat mir gefallen!
Das ist ja so japanisch... Ich meine, dass es in Italien unmöglich wäre, dass ein sechzehn-jährige Mädchen in einer Bäckerei arbeiten darf. Also, nicht gezetzlich...
Das ist ein süßer Manga. Ich mag, dass die Protagonist Bort so sehr liebt. Ich mag auch Brot! Und es ist schön, was sie tut, um die Bäckerei zu verbessern.

Udah punya lama, tapi baru dibaca sekarang.. haha. Sebenarnya kayaknya dulu sempat baca juga sih, tapi ya gitu kayaknya cuma bolak-balik halaman doang, ceritanya nggak inget.
Cerita tentang cewek yang suka bakery dan kerja di toko roti. Manajernya nggak tahunya cowok seumuran dia yang ditinggalin orangtuanya ke Perancis buat belajar bikin roti. Jadi, toko roti ini sementara dialihkan ke dia gitu deh. Ada dua temennya juga yang bantu-bantu di toko roti.
Tipikal shoujo. Ceritanya manis dan bikin laper.
