With the help of the man who turned her life on its head, Loren must learn to navigate the new world she’s been thrust into—all while discovering the secrets of her parentage and the ways of a lycan.
When the undeniable bond between herself and her reclusive savior reaches a tipping point, there can be no turning back.
She must either embrace her newfound primal heritage and all that comes with it, or shun her true nature—and Bill—forever.
I am a quirky writer from the US who dabbles in dark, paranormal and contemporary romance. My stories aren't always typical, but contain a little something for everyone.
⚡This is the type of duet where everyone refers to the heroine as "the girl" and the role of this "girl" is to not ask questions and cower somewhere in a corner.
⚡ All she did was laundry, cook and wait for him to come to her with the occasional biting and pleading for him to fuck her. I did overlook it in book one, halfway through this one nothing gets resolved still.
⚡ Whenever their interactions got more intimate, in any capacity, something or someone had to interrupt. Happened multiple times in both books.
⚡ There was no time to build their bond due to the multitude of secrets. And when something did happen that I liked, there was no time to develop it properly because it was cutting it too close to the ending and had to be rushed.
⚡The dude plainly states that he refuses to let himself feel anything for her and in the next scene they are mating. Make it make sense.
⚡ And since I am being nitpicky, I have another issue; in what universe is it ok to write a shifter book without the hot sex ?
⚡ Miss Lana Sky writes the best smut and we get ONE scene, glossed over.
Now, you know what they say about sequels - they usually suck, are terrible, and wonder who seriously invented the word sequels.
Well I care to disagree in this one.
I loved this one, possibly more than Shift, sorryyyy Lana.
But this book managed to raise my expectations and my expectations - probably tower more than the empire state building (U.S building). So for a book to achieve that, I am like wowza, really?
So this book left us on some more plans made by Bill's former wolf pack captain, and some more discoveries, truths, betrayals, and some shocking confessions that I was like wow.
But as always Bill and Loren stay together, even though they have their bouts of miscommunication and confessions and hard knocks of reality - but fate is a stubborn b----- so really, they can't leave each other. Sonia also stays loyal, Mischa - my boy is too damn cute and blond bully Barbie whose name I can't be bothered to remember, are all so damn loyal - made my heart literally sing. I mean you know this ragtag team is serious when their differences don't deter them apart.
And as you already know, the villains are also not in the mood to quit, so really when they face each other - you know things are gonna take a knock and twist when the blood bath ends. Plus some scenes like the hunger games probably didn't deter me from liking the whole aggressive wolf stuff, that I ended up loving it a lot.
Point is - in all my rambling - I loved this steamy suspenseful, romantic shifter romance a lot and I hope to read more by Lana for sure.
I liked the conclusion of this duet. It was left open to so many possibilities with the way it ended though. Maybe it's the conclusion for Loren and Bill for now, but maybe not the other characters. It left a world full characters stories I'd love to see more of.
DNF. The relationship simply doesn’t progress and the heroine is a dimwit. I hate saying that. But the lack of progression with ANYTHING had me stop from finishing this duet. :/
This is the second book in this shifter duet and I do recommend reading them in order for best enjoyment. Bill seems to have more enemies than he can deal with plus he dealing with his feelings for Loren. Loren is learning about the ways of shifters and what it means to be part of a pack. Will Loren discover the truth about her heritage? Can this new pack that Bill has put together really keep them safe from all of their enemies? Can Loren convince Bill they what they share can only make them both stronger? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and action. Great characters with lots of depth and entertaining story. I loved it!
This is book two of the Black Mountain Pack, and it is not a standalone. You will definitely need to read book one first. I really enjoyed Bill and Loren's story. Both books pulled me in and made it hard to put them down. There was danger, drama, secrets, building attraction and chemistry, rivalry, and so much more. I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen but also didn't want to see the story end. In fact, I'd like to see more. Technically, Bill and Loren got their happily ever after and I can create my own future for them. However, I would love to see how Loren and her newfound family come together (or don't). I really hope Sonia gets her own story. I also want to see what's in store for the futures of the Black Mountain and Eislander packs, as well as Micah, Kyle, and even Naomi. The fact I want to see me means this is a definite recommend for me. If you like shifter stories I think you should give it a read. *I was gifted an Advance Reader Copy and voluntarily chose to leave a review.
Howl is the second and final installment in this duet. Shift does need to be read before… For some reason I just couldn’t connect with this one as Much as I thought. It’s most likely a case of, it’s not you it’s me type scenario but I just felt a complete disconnect between the characters. The word building & background between the packs was done really well, and I think the author nailed that part but in doing so, I believe the characters needed more connection than just their internal thoughts. It was just a bit ‘off’ for me. Still worth a read, and it’s great to see this author shift genre.
I understand that the H had a mate before and that he had this lifetime of history with her. That he loved her. That he didn't forgot her. So sad what happened to them, but why bite an innocent girl, claiming her but not really then? Bs excuses that I didn't bought it.
Honestly, my main problem with this book was the H and his actions. Like why he allowed that alleged close friend of his, with a lot of attitude in his life to be constantly interfering, always in the way? The H was always making excuses for her, like she was full of the best intentions. Why is that? Her actions were so misplaced and very clear. She kept her distance thinking he was still mourning his mate but now, apparently he was fair game. It was so clear. And he kept giving her liberties like she was entitled to a place of great regard in his life. Like she was more important than she had the right to be. Certainly full of intimacy with him. I imagine that no man would allowed a woman to slap him, scream to his face and demand him to act like she wanted him to or that he explained himself to her unless there was a very deep level of intimacy between them. Not the friendly type though. No fucking way. He wouldn't try to explain himself and pacify her if she was simply a friend. Get out of here. I fucking hate that kind of sneaky women and yeah, I hated that character. But I hated the H more for allowing her to act like that when he continued treating the h the way he did for so long when he knew (how not to?) that the h was his new mate, full of deep feelings for him. Feelings that he had no intention of returning so he reject her all the time. Excuses on top of excuses. I can't stand it.
In book one I thought the H was attractive but in this one I think of him as weak and unworthy and that was all I thought about until the end of this book.
Action-packed and emotionally intense I loved the continuation of Loren and Bill’s story in this action-packed and emotionally intense read. The push and pull between the couple continues – cue more angst and smoking hot sexual tension. It’s a cracking read as Bill helps Loren navigate the complexities of the lycan world and solve the mystery of her heritage, whilst coming to terms with his own issues.
Bill’s methods often confuse Loren (he is one tortured guy) and I loved how her increasing confidence allows her to not only surprise herself and Bill but also others. The journey her character takes is one hell of a ride and I felt emotionally invested throughout.
The author does a great job of revealing the traumatic events of their respective pasts, a past they must face head on if they are to move forward and have a future together. The world building of the shifter worlds and the descriptions of the diffreent packs is particularly well done as are the characterisations of the couples’ friends and foes. I was on pins throughout and loved how all of the various threads came together.
I would love to see more books set in this world featuring Bill and Loren and/or the other characters featured in the duet. Please nore, a copy of this book was given to me by the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I wanted to finish this second book in the series because I had bought book one, but I knew after I struggled with book one that this one would be a struggle too. I ended up skimming a good amount as it was the same old thing as book one, with a lot of words but nothing much happening. It reads very much like a YA-toned book written by a new author who wasn't sure how to move through the major plot points/ideas they had so they paced in circles instead. There isn't any steam, which is okay in and of itself, but it kind of/sort of hints throughout the duet that it will be coming and then the actual time they do it is a paragraph where you almost aren't sure they did, and strangely, it is much shorter than the few kissing scenes from before; which felt very anti-climactic considering the big deal made of their bond and connection. And again, I have no problem with zero steam books, but there wasn't a good story either, just some good ideas that never panned out.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "HOWL" OMG!!! What a page turner right from the start so much conflict, secrets, lies, suspense, intrigue, angst, past trauma, deceit, sexual tension, past abuse, trust issues, twists that you don't see coming an addicting read from start to finish. Bill & Loren's journey is one full of miscommunication, secrets, heartache, feeling unwanted, both are attracted to one another but there's so much that gets in their way both are damaged souls alot to overcome them being mated the way they he feels to old for her can they solve their issues. Black Mountain Alpha Lukka wants Bill dead he's set him up to take the blame for Jamal's murder one of Eilander's Pack being in an alliance with them they agree that Bill need punishment & mating against, Lorens will they don't have all the facts of what happened. I definitely recommend to get this riviting action packed paranormal drama your on the edge of your seat to the end something thing that needed to happen secrets are revealed you didn't even realize about Kyle who was Emma's twin & mate to Bill before everything fell apart. I hope there'll be more of this story to come I think I'd like for Micha & Kyle to get their own story & more of Eislander's Pack also just my opinion. AWESOME AWESOME READ!!!!
There is no mistaking that this author is gifted when it comes to creating a story. This was, especially, true of this story. Her world-building is fantastic and had me invested in how things were going to turn out for Bill and Loren.
In the first book, there was a lot going on and this book is no different. There were still times that I had to go back and make sure I had read something correctly or to double-check the plot because I did get lost a few times. That is not meant as disparaging, it was just how much depth and layers that this author had put into creating this world.
I am not sure if this was the last book for these characters or if the plan is to introduce more characters into this world. It would be a shame if she didn't capitalize on this because, like said, this is a VERY interesting world, and did find myself invested to see where things would go or how they would end. However, the abrupt way that this ended, made me feel a little disappointed because I wanted a further explanation of it and for there to be some hint of what is to come, and not just for the main characters, Bill and Loren, in these first two books. Although that would be important information to know too.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest and voluntary review
I loved this second half to Bill and Loren’s story 😍 I feel like these characters grew so much from where they started!! Bill is struggling so much over the guilt of what happened, to his pack, on Black Mountain. He’s also struggling between wanting to keep Loren safe, and telling her everything he has been keeping from her. Loren is so confused as to why her emotions are all over the place, and wanting Bill, but he’s always running hot and cold. I’m so proud of Loren in this book!! She’s taking control of her life, and getting stronger and stronger, with each moment of her journey. She has definitely turned into a fighter!! I also loved the side characters ♥️ There actually wasn’t a character I disliked, even the “bad guys.” Especially Kyle!! He brought sarcasm and a few LOL moments 🖤 This book definitely takes us on a journey, where we finally get answers, and it sets the stage for each character’s future and where their destiny takes them!! Well done, Lana Sky 🥰 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AS WELL AS SHIFT (BOOK 1) 💙🖤
Howl is the second and final installment of the (The Black Mountain Pack) series. I absolutely loved the first part of this series so i was very excited to read this the contiution for it and i had very high hopes for it and after finshing it i can say that it didnt dissapoint, I loved the main characters and their dynamic as well as the overall dark and gritty atmosphere throghout the story.
The Book pickes up immedialty where the first part left off, and manages to immedialty hook the reader in creating the same level of anticpation and mystery, the book also delivers on providing the answers to all of the questions we were left with from the first insallment, the story and character development was was great and so well wriiten and original.
Overall this was a great read and I absolutely loved this series and was hooked all the way till the end.
This is the conclusion of Bill and Loren’s story and book 2 of The Black Mountain Pack series and I could not read it fast enough.
This book finally tells us why Bill does not want a mate bond and also why he fights every instinct to be the Alpha he was meant to be. However, when Loren’s life and his small pack is in danger, his only choice is protecting them at all cost even if that means going back to the beginning, Black Mountain and challenging the top Alpha, Lukka.
Loren on the other hand finally comes into her own and learns about her past that makes her do something she comes to regret. Secrets will be revealed, danger at every turn and the ending was as it should be, HEA.
You must read Shift book 1 of the Black Mountain Pack series to appreciate this wonderful book and series.
I enjoyed Bill and Loren's second book. We do finally get answers and results for what happens with Lukka and the Black Mountain Pack but we are left with an ending the implies that there is more to come. We finally get to find out who Loren's real father is and I was expecting this person since the first book, but can't wait to see how that will affect things for Bill and Loren in the future. I was a little sad to see one of Bill's allies imply that he wouldn't be around for long and that he planned on leaving. There was a lot of shock to find out what really happened to Loren in the past and why she was with her horrible father from book 1. I hope there are more stories about this whole pack and we find our characters getting a real HEA. Can't wait to find out. I received a review copy of this story from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
Oooh this book is amazing. Howl was everything I needed and then some. This story continues where Shift left off. Loren is still struggling with learning the Lycan way and her feelings for Bill. And Bill continues to have the weight of the world on his shoulders with the decisions that is going to have to make. This story is intense and will literally have you flipping all the way until the end. I have been a long time reader of Lana and her writing truly is phenomenal she is a excellent writer and will keep you intrigued from beginning to end. The Black Mountain Duet has quickly came to the top of my list of favorites. I can’t wait for what Lana comes up with next. I really loved Bill and Loren’s Story!
This was a great shifter romance book! The world build and the relationship between our characters were smooth and desirable. Lana has a great imagination in her gift of storytelling. I really hope she writes more books dealing with the paranormal romance world.
This is the second book of the series. There is romance (although I do prefer a little more steam ;) but the connection was all there), apprehension of the future of our main male character (Bill) and what was to become of Loren and why she couldn’t transition into her wolf form, but so glad she finally did!
There is plenty of potential for more of the other characters to have their own stories or just more about Bill and Loran!
Shifter love! A terrific continuation of the first book, Shift, with sexy wolf shifters and our fabulous couple Bill and Loren. They overcame so much and their journey is still rife with issues and uncertainty with a nasty enemy and shifter politics. But nothing can keep them away from each other. The chemistry between the two was all intense passion. This story is full of action, drama, twists and turns, and plenty of emotion. I love this Black Mountain Pack world with its sexy shifters and all the drama that comes with intense beings. The ending was spectacular with the fast-paced action. As always with this outstanding author this is a thrilling read. Loved it and I can’t wait for more!
This was wrote with such compelling words. The author did a great job making the book gripping and a page turner. Loren was a lycan and was found in the barn soaking wet by Bill also a lycan on his property. Bill was a rogue and didn't want to be the lead Alpha to the pack anymore because his mate had died earlier and he blamed himself. A bond formed between Loren and Bill that shouldn't have but Bill tried to break it off and give Loren a chance to care for someone else. They were trying to find out who was Loren's parents that turned out to be a gigantic pain. Bill decided to challenge the Alpha of the pack and the story goes from there. Good reading
This book is the conclusion to Loren and Bill's romance. You must read book one, Shift first to obtain the complete story and to have a full understanding of it all. I really enjoyed this PNR duet. The blend of drama, tension, emotion, secrets, twists along with the luscious anticipation from the impending explosion of heat was juicy and irresistible. Prepare to have your nerves stretched as this grabs you and doesn't let go until that last page is turned. I am posting an independent, impartial review.
Rating 5/5 Plot 5/5 Spice 3/5 Character Development 5/5
“Howl” is the second book in Lana Sky’s Black Mountain Pack duet series. This book continues Loren and Bill's story for one last time. I don’t want to spoil too much because Book 1 (“Shift”) leaves off with a big cliffhanger and Book 2 gives us the answers we were looking for. I will say that I loved the drama, tension, and angst between Loren and Bill. This is one of my favourite paranormal romances and the plot and character development were written really well!
[I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book]
This is the second book in The Black Mountain Pack series. This is a continuous story so start with book one, you will not be disappointed. This story is so much more than Bill and Loren. The layers of secrets and old fashioned rules surface and are broken. The question becomes are they enough to shatter oneself or will they rise stronger? Between the main characters and the supporting characters there is never a dull moment. Can strangers become family? What is the cost? A fantastic read, enjoy!
Book 2 of Lana Sky’s The Black Mountain Pack duet, Howl brings forth Loren’s struggle with her newfound origins and mysterious parentage.
With strong enemies at bay, Loren must invoke her Lycan abilities and the only man who can help her is Bill. However, Bills demons of the past threaten to destroy the small sense of sanity he has left, and with that, Loren’s as well.
Determined to be alone for the remainder of his life, how will Bill keep his promises to those living and dead? How will Loren overcome her enemies?
Lana is becoming one of my favorite authors, there just something about the way she can tell a story that makes you want more! With a lot of unanswered for in the first book Shift I know this book was going be more action and more drama..Loren still has a lot to learn with this new world she finds herself part of.and Bill still trying to fight his good intention with the whole is mate bond between them..I feel like there more to know with the black mountain pact and the people that makes it up that I wouldn't mine more books
Bill and Lauren’s story continues to unfold in Book 2 (Howl) of this series. After the ending of the last book, I was on edge waiting for this book to come out. And guess what, this book definitely did not disappoint! Bill and Lauren have such a frustrating, cute, and wonderful relationship. There was plenty of action and twists to the storyline I didn’t see coming. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to readers who enjoy wolf love stories.
I freaking loved this book! The first book in this duet, Shift, opened so many questions that had me wanting to know what was going to happen next and Howl wraps it up in an enticing, awesome bow with tons of excitement. I love this world that Lana Sky created and really enjoyed seeing the growth in the characters. It was exciting, enjoyable, and if you are a fan of paranormal romances, this is right up your alley!
In this conclusion of Bill and Loren's story, the tensions between then and the overall shifter community run higher than ever. Between their budding relationship, the recently shift ex-high school enemy, and more than a few bloodthirsty wolves, the two need to stick together more than ever.
The ending especially, was a fast-paced and action-filled ending to a more slow-building story. You'll have to read book 1 first, but this was a solid ending to the duet!
I couldn’t put it down. This book held my attention the whole way through it! It was amazing. The characters had so much emotion that you felt that you were listening to a friend talk instead of reading a book. The one bad point was that it isn’t available on audible yet. When I was too tired to read or was cleaning I couldn’t continue with the book so it took me a few more days to finish the book.
