Thou shalt not sleep with thy friend's sister . . . It was basically the number one rule of the bro code, and Blake Wolfe just came dangerously close to breaking it. How could he know that the gorgeous woman he made out with at a party was his friend's little sister? Now that he knows, she is hands off . . . which is easier said than done. Kristen Watson is in Seattle for a much-needed vacation after graduating college. Though she has more planned than just hanging out with her bestie--it's also the perfect time to ditch her virgin status and have a little fun before joining the real world. But finding the perfect guy is proving harder than she expected, especially when the perfect guy is apparently off-limits. Blake knows trying to dissuade Kristen from the plan is useless. So he does the next best thing and volunteers to be her wingman. But helping her pick the one might be as challenging as trying not to claim her for himself. Contains mature themes.

Losing It is the first installment in the new Bro Code series. It's a contemporary romance with witty banter, great characters and steamy action. This trope of a hot firefighter falling for his best friends little sister with her V card is highly entertaining. Can't wait for more in this series!
Blake Wolfe is no longer a frat boy but a firefighter turned paramedic so, his partying days are over. But that doesn't stop him from going by a former roomies birthday party to pay his respects. While counting down the minutes until he can make his exit a husky laugh catches his attention, he turns to find the source and it belongs to a scrawny, next door type, blonde and she meets his direct stare with interest.
Kristen Watson is in Seattle visiting her best friend for the week after graduating from college. She is on a mission to get rid of her V card so she can go back home to Vegas and catch the attention of her crush. However, she thinks she just found the man for the job and doesn't expect any complications. She couldn't be more wrong!
Blake doesn't sleep with intoxicated women so he has to put the brakes on things going any further with this intriguing woman. Needless to say she is not happy with his "boy scout" rules, informs him of her plans and thinks she will never see him again.
Kristen goes to her brothers cookout and the "boy scout" is there and he just happens to be her big brothers best friend. So, even though Blake wants her bad he can't go against the Bro Code so he decides to become her wingman instead. While sabotaging her plans, they both find they have something to lose...
Honestly, I was impressed with the author's writing. It was simple but fun and I enjoyed the characters. I'm giving it an extra star just because I had fun the whole time I was reading, but it's also very short and doesn't have a lot going for it.
I received this arc of Losing It from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book in Shelli Stevens’ new series, Bro Code. In book one we meet Kristen Watson. She has recently graduated college and returned to her hometown of Seattle for a weeks vacation. She plans to return to Las Vegas where she’d gone to college to job hunt. She decided she wants to lose her virginity before she starts her career.
As the book opens she is at a party with her best friend from home. They’ve decided she will meet someone and have a one night stand. She meets a guy at the party named Blake who is older but is there to celebrate his former frat brother’s birthday. Kris decides Blake will be the one. They talk and dance and she makes her wishes to sleep together known. Unfortunately for her, Blake senses she has had several drinks and he doesn’t want to take advantage of her. They end up going to a movie where she falls asleep. She confesses she is still a virgin and plans to sleep with someone before going back to Vegas. He takes her back to her friend’s apartment and they don’t part on the best of terms.
Soon after, Kris goes to her brother James’ house for a bbq and runs into Blake. She learns he’s best friends with her brother and his former roommate. Blake know now he can’t have anything romantic with Kris due to the bro code. She is still interested in him but he makes his position known. Later, she and her bestie get changed into very sexy outfits and make up to go out to a club. James sees them and asks Blake to follow them and look out for her. He already knows what the girls are planning to do. He manages to intercede and prevent her from hooking up with someone he deemed no good. He proposes that he be her wing man and screen the guys, choosing the safe bet for her. She finally agrees and they go to a club.
Both Kris and Blake recognize that they are very attracted to the other. They know it isn’t an option and they have to keep her brother in the dark about what has happened and the plan for the future. It is a fun storyline, the forbidden girl, aka the best friend’s little sister. The author has done an excellent job with some different twists to this popular genre. There is a lot of angst and both Kris and Blake try to prevent their feelings from developing further. I highly recommend reading this book to see what happens to this couple. This is a 5 star book. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. This is a new-to-me author and I haven’t been having the best of luck in that area lately. This story had a lot of heart, moved quickly, and had wonderful characters.
The chemistry between Kristen and Blake is palpable from the start. They literally lock eyes across a crowded room and can’t seem to keep seek each other out throughout the night. Of course, at this point they have no idea Blake is one of Kristen’s brother’s best friends. That’s where the yearning and pining comes in. Not only is against the bro code for Blake to date (or in any way hook up with) his friend’s sister, Kristen quickly realizes it would be hard to keep her brother out of the personal business if she gets together with his friend. But after their initial meeting and almost hook up Blake has no interest in seeing Kristen flirting with other guys. And Kristen isn’t feeling any sort of sparks with any of the guys she’s flirting with.
There are some phenomenal scenes with these two, but none better than the breaking point scene. The hunger these two have for one another! Ugh! So good! There were a couple of issues with the flow, but for the most part this book has a great rhythm. There was also a time or two that I felt the characters used icky tactics to “scare away” possible suitors. These things could have been done in a different way with the same exact result without making me feel uncomfortable.
I still found this story to be a lot of fun with some really touching moments in the mix. I’m absolutely sure we will get books for the brother, his fiancé, and Kirsten’s best friend at the very least. It should be interesting.

Losing It is the first in Shelli Stevens' Bro Code series. Blake Avery stops by a friend's birthday party to give him his regards. No longer much of a partier, he's counting the minutes until he can politely make his excuses and head home. He's surprised when a cute woman with a great laugh catches his eye, and even more surprised when she seems to want to get to know him better.
Kristen Watson's celebrating her graduation by visiting her old hometown, and she plans to use the week to rid herself of her now pesky V-card. Her BFF Tori's got her back, and is determined to help her find the right candidate for the job. Sparks fly when Kristen meets Blake at a friend's party. He's captivated by her quick laugh and confidence, and would love to get to know her better.
That plan comes to a screeching halt when they discover that Kristen is Blake's good friend's baby sister. As much as Kristen appeals to him, Blake can't break the bro code--and getting it on with a friend's sister is a flagrant violation. That said, he makes a promise to take over for Tori and help Kristen find the right guy...while trying to convince himself that he isn't that guy.
Ms Stevens does a terrific job with this best friend's little sister/V-card story. Kristen and Blake's chemistry is undeniable and their growing friendship is also a pleasure to watch develop. They manage to be engaging, vulnerable, and all too real, which makes their story a page-turner. Ms Stevens also provides an excellent supporting cast of family and friends, and I can't wait to read the next in this series!
I am impressed with the writing of this author. Her characters are well-rounded and her storyline is well thought out. The blending of characters’ personalities is seamless. It's a set of friends you could find yourself in.
You have, Blake who is attending an old frat brother, slash roommate’s birthday party. Jack is still surrounding himself in the scene of college partying, which is no longer, Blake’s way of life, at all. Hasn’t been for the last three years since, he moved out of the apartment, and into his own, digs.
At the party, his eye is caught by the young woman in a red dress looking like a supermodel. Tall, brunette, and shapely. With her she has her wing lady and polar opposite. She is like, ‘The girl next door.’ She is a blonde, scrawny if being truthful, and with small breasts, but her laugh is unguarded and intriguing.
This is what makes Blake take notice of who he comes to find out her name is, Kristen. Her friend, Tori seems much more sure of herself, and somehow less appealing to, Blake. On the other hand, Kristen is on a mission of some sort which has, Blake curious.
Oh, she does, she's on a mission to lose her V-card. To hook up with a guy friend, she's had a crush on at the college in, Vegas, who said he does do girls who still have their V-card. Her mission on vacation is to lose, the V-card. Blake is her target. Boy does this take a crazy turn for everyone.
Losing It is the first in the new Bro Code Series by Shelli Stevens. Friend’s little sisters is a trope that is common in books but often the characters know each other. Blake Wolfe had no idea that the woman he was so attracted to turned out to be his friend’s sister until he had already fallen under her spell. So of course now he must stay away from her. Add that he is also going to keep others away too, then you have the plot.
Kristen Watson is ready after college graduation to be a “woman” and have some fun at the same time. Kristen needed Blake so it was right that he was her wingman. Lots of steamy chemistry and hot romance in this story of a relationship that wasn’t a relationship but becomes something lasting.
Fans of Shelli Stevens and hot contemporary romance stories will love this new series starting with Losing It.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is book one in The Bro Code series and it is Blake and Kristen's story. Kristen has just graduated from college and needs a holiday with her best friend and she also wanted to have a one night stand to lose her v card before starting to look for a job but when she finds the perfect man things don't go as planned. Blake is attracted to Kristen right from the start but when he meets her again he realised that she is his best friend's sister so he definitely won't go there because of the Bro Code that they have but will be be able to keep to that promise after them spending time together. Omg this book was absolutely fantastic and kept you turning the pages and on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them. I recommend you read this book and you definitely will not be disappointed as it is so well written and worth reading.
I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
It was very cute. Kristen is setting out to lose her virginity. She meets a guy, Blake, at her brother's birthday party. They hit it off. They make out but he stops them from having sex because he was afraid she was too intoxicated. They went their separate ways after that until Kristen's brother introduced them at his barbecue. This is when Blake realizes that he made out with his friend's little sister which goes against the Bro Code. Kristen is attracted to Blake and sets out to change his mind about being her first. She only has a week.
It is a cute story. It left a smile on my face. I like Kristen and her funny attempts at seduction. I like that Blake has principles. He could be a womanizer but he isn't. He is closed off because of a tragic event when he was 19 that changed the course of his life.
A new author for me and first book in a series that looks like it could be fun if this is any indication No major drama no heartbreak just a fun read that kept me entertained I would say that it is probable batter for a younger demographic but as a older reader I enjoyed it as well
Newly minted paramedic Blake Wolfe is instantly attracted to a woman he sees across a crowded room and he thinks they could have something that is until he finds out she is his best friends younger sister making her off limits due to the Bro Code. Kristen Watson is just as attracted and it doesn't matter how many men she flirts with she can't forget Blake Will they give in to the temptation You will have to read to see
This is a new author for me and I loved this book. I enjoyed it all: the writing style, the dual POV, the characters. Being a little steamy, and a lot sweet, older man younger women romance, I loved Blake and Kristen's story and how good they were together and how, despite being a virgin, Kristen knew what she wanted. When Blake sees the attention Kristen keeps getting from other men, his jealousy takes over. She belongs with him and no one is going to her away from him. Great story - excited too see what's next in this series and although we know it's Hannah and Eric's story, I hope we get to see Tori and James's story.
This was a random library loan, on a whim because I liked the cover (below). It was okay … Didn’t really contain any substance or character development and kept certain details vague. Fine for a quick listen to help get me through a workout, but I don’t feel a need to read on in the series.
Virgin heroine. New adult. College setting. Best friend’s sister / brother’s best friend. OM drama. Broken hero. Instalove
Kristen and Blake, her bestie is the hottie in whatever room she is in, and his best friend just happens to be Kristen’s big brother so the bro code is just one of the things that should keep them apart, but chemistry and even her bestie and destiny keeps pushing them to smoldering in Seattle. What a Wow start to a series so if you can take the heat of this romance that is not really a romance you should grab this five star read. I was given an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my review, here it is, wish I could give it more than five stars.
Sexy, light and funny, Losing It is the first in a new series. Set in Seattle, this story stars newly minted paramedic Blake Wolfe and Kristen Watson, his friend’s little sister. I loved watching Blake tangle himself up in knots as he fought his attraction for Kristen. She was a fun character too as she learned by trial and error that Blake was the one for her. This book probably targets a younger audience than me—both protagonists are in their twenties—but I still enjoyed reading it and I’m curious about the next book in the series.
Spicy and chemistry driven, desire denying Blake tries to veer away from innocently sexy Kristen. If she was anyone else but his best friend’s sister, he would have gone for it. Kristen is in the pursuit of a one night stand and with the one reason to lose her virginity. He would be super game except for the brother thing. He offers to be her wingman instead of her fling man to eliminate the wrong guys for her. Wait until you see how well that works out. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a cute read. Kristen had a crush on a boy in Vegas but he wont date a virgin. She's on vacation in Seattle visiting friends and family and decides to find someone to get rid of that status. She meets Blake but doesn't realize he is friends with her brother. They are attracted to each other, but the bro code is in force but she doesnt care. This ends up with Kristen being the one who can break through Blake's reservations on having a relationship.
I got this book from HiddenGems and am voluntarily leaving a review
I really enjoyed reading Losing It by author Shelli Stevens and what a great start to her Bro Code series. I loved Blake and Kristen together and they had sizzling chemistry from the moment they laid eyes on each other. It was fun watching Blake try to do the right thing and honor the “bro code” because of her brother, but the heart knows what it wants and it’s Kristen. Loved seeing these two get their HEA and looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
This was a great twist on the brother’s best friend trope. I loved the relationship that Kristen and Blake had- especially when they were just bickering and hanging out. While you’d think Kristen would be the immature one in the friend, I thought it was definitely Tori. I’m interested to read her Tory later! James was a super overprotective brother, but was rarely a d-bag about it. I liked that he ended up on team Blake and Kristen in the end
The #1 rule of the Bro Code is siblings are off-limits. Luckily this rule isn't a true law because there would be a jail full of people who broke it! Kristen and Blake would be two of those jailbirds. Watching them dance around before finally giving in was delightful. Can't wait to see what the rest of the series brings. I received a copy of this story via Hidden Gems which I am voluntarily reviewing
I think Shelli Stevens may have become one of my new favorite authors … One of my favourite best friends little sister romcom I’ve read this year! I just loved every single second of this book. Every. Single. Second. Losing It is the perfect binge-able summer rom-com everyone needs in their library and on their TBR list. Go 1 click today, you won’t regret it, I promise you. Happy reading everyone
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is a new to me author and the first book in The Bro Code series. Kristen is on vacation visiting family and her best friend. She has one thing she wants to take care before she goes home. She had one week to get it done and she just met the perfect guy. Blake never thought he would meet a girl to hold his interest. Especially one that isn’t his normal type. I enjoyed this book and hope to read more from this series.
Quick read that's free on Amazon (as of 4/27/23). It was a cute story, but felt very teenage ish even though the characters were in their twenties.
There were quite a bit of childish moments throughout the whole book and miscommunication that was SO annoying.
Overall it was an okay book, had some spice but I don't think it was too crazy. Wouldn't read it again nor do I think I'd read anymore books that follow in this series.
Here's the thing... I thought the concept was cute, but insta-love isn't really my thing. The spice was amazing, don't get me wrong, but the "I'm falling for you" conversation happened a lot quicker than I would have liked. They hardly knew each other. Additionally, my edition was free on iBooks and it had so many spelling errors (ex: using "Tori" for the whole book with one "Tory" sprinkled in there).
I voluntarily read a advanced reader's copy of this book for a honest opinion.
A excellent start to a new series, Losing It by Stelli Stevens. I've enjoyed books by this author in the past but this book hit it out of the ball park for me. Since it's book one in the Bro Code series I can't wait to see what comes next in this series.
Shelli Stevens is a new author to me and I must say I was impressed. She pulled me into the story quickly and held my interest until the end of the book. I loved Blake and Kristen. There was so much chemistry between them. Their story was fun, hot, and so much more. I cannot wait to see where the next book takes us. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Shelli Stevens can be counted on for great stories! I always find myself loving her characters and the only problem is that the books come to an end when you are enjoying the story so much you aren’t ready to be done! The perfect amount of steam and heat intermixed with wit and humor! Definitely on my favorite authors list and she never disappoints! Highly recommend!
'Best friend's sibling' is one of my most favorite tropes & Shelli Stevens delivers in Losing It! This is an excellent start to Stevens' Bro Code series. Losing It is full of witty banter, swoony scenes, and lots of steam. I'm looking forward to the next books in this series!
An entertaining, funny and steamy story. This quick paced book took a different take on the old "friends little sister" trope and created an engaging romp. Overall, an enjoyable story with likable characters. *I received an ARC of this story and this is my voluntary and honest review.
