When tragedy strikes Rachel's family, she struggles to get out of bed and pay attention at school. But all that changed when one day a special bird appeared. Rachels Daddy died, and she is having a hard time adjusting. She lost interest in playing with her friends, and she is fearful she will forget important things about her Daddy. Then one morning, she receives a visit and a little encouragement from a persistent cardinal. This is a true story of how a cardinal offered hope to a grieving family struggling to adjust to their loss. "The Cardinal's A True Story of Finding Hope in Grief " encourages anyone experiencing loss to pay attention to Mother Nature's gifts as she teaches us to be hopeful without forgetting those we love.
Carole is a master at helping the grieving. In this book, she frames grief so even a child can navigate it with insight and support. She offers hope for better days ahead.
I watch for cardinals and their gift of healing. Little messages from Heaven.
When Carole was reading this book at an event in my yard, two cardinals flew in to say hello, proving that our loved ones are with us and giving us signs.
This is an excellent book for those grieving their loved ones-children and adults. The message is so true. There have been several encounters with cardinals, when I have felt sad, lonely, or missing my loved ones that have passed on. Once, a cardinal flew down to the top of one of the patio chairs, and then he flew down to the floor on the patio. I was standing inside the French doors of my kitchen looking outside. He walked over to right outside the door, he stood there, he pivoted his head this way and that way, just looking at me!. I was startled, but I did not move, I didn't want him to fly away, I was just so amazed that he had come over that close, and just stood there looking at me and I at him! Soon after, he flew back to the top of the chair, and then he flew away. It was an amazing encounter that I don't forget! I thank Ms.Heaney for writing this book! It is a wonderful book of comfort and healing!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "A cardinal is a representative of a loved one who has passed. When you see one, it means they are visiting you."
"The Cardinal's Gift: A True Story of Finding Hope in Grief," by Carole Heaney is a child's book about Rachel who suffering from grief from the recent passing of her father. One day a red cardinal arrives at her window and keeps coming back day after day. Soon the cardinal gives Rachel the ability to move on with her life after the death of a parent.
This book, even though it is a child's book spoke volumes to me. I lost my father in July of 2017 and as an adult, I felt alike what Rachel did in the book. You feel like you lost apart of you and things that once made you happy, doesn't. Grief doesn't just go away, but gets easier to deal as time goes on.
This children's story is written to help children cope with the loss of a loved one.
For a little girl named Rachel life gets hard when her dad dies. She struggles to get up and go to school. One day her fathers favourite bird starts tapping on her bedroom window and it's not long before this bird starts to help Rachel in lots of ways.
The idea of this is really lovely and it has bright and colourful illustrations to enjoy as you read this. I think it covers an important subject in a very delicate way so it's definitely worth a read if this is what you are looking for.
Grief is a process and this book is a wonderful way to guide kids through it!
Grief after death is such an incredibly hard thing to go through. So many confusing emotions! This book is very necessary!! It shows all the various states of grief in normal every day situations that kids can understand and normalizes all the feelings they may feel. I loved how the author used a cardinal that kept visiting to get the girl up and going to school each day. It gave her hope and reminded her to keep on living. Absolutely gorgeous book!! Love it!
This book gives the child permission to grieve and helps them to understand it’s a normal process. It also emphasizes that our loved one will always remain with us forever in our memories and in our hearts. A comforting story that brings a tear to my eye especially for any child who has experienced a great loss. This book will help them find comfort in their memories, family, friends, and nature’s beautiful gifts.
A beautifully written and heartfelt story that has significance regardless of age - but so timely when thousands of children have lost one or both of their parents or grandparents to COVID. I believe if Carole’s book could be read to them or by them, it would help these lost souls find peace in a struggle they can not truly understand and find hope in knowing memories will not be lost, but will remain in their hearts and thoughts forever.
The Cardinal's Gift: A true story of finding hope in grief, written by Carole Heaney, shows how a cardinal brought hope to a young girl who had lost her father. A persistent red bird pulls the girl out of bed each morning and soon she wakes before the bird arrives. The young girl receives a special Christmas gift from her mom that she will cherish as a reminder of her father's love. The stages of grief are shown, but the verbiage to describe them is not in the story.
This book is a must read for everyone who has lost a loved one. A book that reminds us that memories and being blessed to share the memories keep the lost loved one alive. For a child reading this book can open dialog regarding emotions following the loss of a loved one. A true guide for HOPE after a loss.
I teared up while reading this book. We as a world have had so much loss during this pandemic. This book opens up understanding about grief in simple terms. So many things in creation can help aid in our coming to grips with the things we cannot control such as grief. I will definitely pass this book along to adults and children as well.
An incredibly sweet story that is a beautiful reminder that our lived ones are always with us. And sometimes they visit us in a variety of ways, including gorgeous red Cardinals.
Encouraging for those who have lost loved ones. Highly encourage using this as a tool for children who may have lost a loved one or even teach them about grief.
