Lady Priscilla is in trouble…

When a cousin she didn’t even know existed inherits her father’s title, the new Earl of Purlington wants more than just the earldom, he want’s Priscilla too. Or at least, her dowry. What she needs is a hero. A man to swoop in and save her despite her cousin’s intimidating lurking. Well not an actual hero, not like the one currently being featured in the papers for all his heroic deeds, but perhaps a man willing to stand up to her cousin and marry her despite the odd circumstances. But how does she find a man like that?

The Viscount of Ware stalks the night…

He wears a mask of course. It wouldn’t do as a lord of the realm to also be discovered as a vigilante. And then there’s the issue of the large scar on his face. It’s better hidden under a mask. But the work is dangerous and as his brother so bluntly points out, he has certain obligations to the viscountcy. Like making an heir… It’s a fair point, but what lady would wish to marry him? His life as a lord isn’t exactly normal and neither is his appearance.

That is until he sees an ad in the paper. A woman in need of a hero? A man in need of a baby? It’s a simple transaction. Easy.

Except from the first, Priscilla is nothing that he imagines and the attraction that sizzles between them only complicates everything. His emotions have been frozen for years. Why do they threaten to defrost now?

And worse yet, what will he do if he loses the battle for Priscilla’s hand and heart?

This is the fourth book in the series, it’s easily read on its own but past characters do make appearances. I loved both Wyatt scarred both externally & internally & Priscilla who was being coerced to marry Eugene. I loved the premise of putting an ad in the paper luckily for Priscilla Wyatt answered. The attraction between the two of them sizzled & their feelings grew as they got to know each other but secrets & misunderstandings threatened their burgeoning romance & of course there was Eugene! A captivating read, which I read in a sitting

Lady Priscilla is looking for a husband. The Earl of Purlington, her cousin, (although we find out later that he isn't the Earl or her cousin), wants to marry Priscilla for her large dowry. Priscilla wants to marry elsewhere.
She puts an ad in the newspaper: Vacancy: One titled and funded lady looking for an eligible Lord in need of a wife. Meet in Hyde Park by the entrance to the rose gardens at noon on Tuesday, the 11th of April, 1837.
Wyatt Highland, Viscount Ware goes to Hyde Park to meet Priscilla.
I enjoyed reading this. I couldn't put it down. Loved the characters. 5☆

Desperate times call for desperate measures in this entertaining romance. Lady Priscilla and her mother are all but prisoners in their own home, guarded and dictated to by the new Earl of Purlington. Seeing the success that her friends had in placing advertisements in the newspaper, Priscilla cautiously follows suit. Meeting the scarred and wounded man at the gateway to the park may not be the wisest choice she has ever made, but in the Viscount of Ware she finds a man she instinctively trusts. Wyatt is fighting the demons of his past and having taken up the cloak of a vigilante, he stealthily rids London of its miscreants, one criminal at a time, together with his half-brother Ralph. However, when he discovers that the new and hitherto unknown Earl of Purlington is as vicious as his late father, Wyatt will do what it takes to rescue Priscilla and her mother. This romance touched all the right spots for me as Wyatt charges in to take control of a dreadful situation. Secrets emerge, but with her mother's experience and understanding, she comes to realize that the man Wyatt has become is the man she most needs in her life. The novel comes to a happy conclusion and it is also a standalone. I received a copy of this romance as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

💋💋

Very entertaining and enjoyable to read , I had fun getting to know the characters and their relationships.
The idea of advertising for a husband is one not used very often, at least that I’ve come across, this made it more enjoyable to me.

Wyatt was a really good character, Priscilla took me a little longer to settle with but once I did I relaxed into the book, the writing is smooth and easy to read.
In all a good book with chemistry and adventure throughout.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Vacancy: Viscount Preferred is a fun historical romance by Tammy Andresen. Ms. Andresen has provided readers with a well-written book. The characters are fun and lovable and keep this story zipping along. Priscilla is in need of a husband. Wyatt is a viscount with a secret identity. His half-brother is being a nag about producing an heir, after reading Priscilla's article, he decided to show up for a meeting. Priscilla and Wyatt's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice and action. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Vacancy: Viscount Preferred is book 4 of the Calling All Rakes Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This has been such an entertaining series & although this book can be read as a standalone, reading the series in order will introduce you to some wonderful character that you may see again in later books.

Priscilla is being chased by a cousin who has taken over her father's title of earl. After her father died, the cousin moved in & insists they must marry but he is mean & temperamental & Priscilla & her Mother are working to solve the problem. She decides to advertise for a husband in the paper.

Wyatt Highland, ninth Viscount Ware, has known he would never marry - he knew growing up that his parents didn't love him so how would a woman. So instead, he has taken to the mean streets of London at night to protect the innocent & weak. Then his mouthy, funny valet tells him about the newspaper article & suddenly he's off to the park to meet the lady.

This romance was fun, full of humor, secrets being held by both, but what a beautiful story with wonderful characters! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

I adored reading this book. I give high praises to the writer for creating such a love story that had me swooning over the fictional male lead characters. Wyatt, commands the book as he portrays himself as a nighttime Vigilante dressed in a black mask with a cape, while he runs the streets. Ralph, Wyatt’s brother also partake in these above and beyond dangerous excursions at night. I definitely liked Ralph’s character, he seems more light in his personality, instead of all the seriousness that his brother displays.
It is quite obvious though in the book that Ralph, loves his brother, supports his brother and only wants to see him happy. When Priscilla crosses paths with the brothers, both men can not seem to be more pleased. I liked Priscilla’s character, her determination and will to search for a better alternative and rise above her problems was fascinating to read. The writer offers you a story that captures your attention with a story plot that you can’t turn away from. The story is a short and easy read for you as well as a good page turner.

Priscilla is being pursued, hounded really, by the new Earl of Purlington, the distant cousin who inherited her father’s title. Nobody had heard of Cousin Eugene until he was determined to be the heir. Priscilla and her mother want nothing more than to escape his presence; she certainly doesn’t want to marry him. Wyatt, Viscount of Ware spends his nights as the vigilante. It’s a brutal occupation. His brother/valet encourages him to discard this activity, marry, and see to an heir. Ralph even finds a way to do it without the trouble of dealing with society and the marriage mart. Answer an ad in the paper. Wyatt and Priscilla meet and come to a tentative agreement. She’s uncertain about marrying a man who is such a mystery. Can Wyatt come to trust her enough to reveal himself? Will Priscilla accept him when she learns his secret? Action, danger, secrets, and a sweet but uncertain courtship hold the reader’s attention. Wyatt and Priscilla are a good match. They will be happy if they learn to communicate and find trust in each other. A mystery discovered and solved answers a lot of questions, solves a lot of problems, and creates an interesting ending to the story, and begins a new adventure for Ralph. Entertaining story, great characters.

Vacancy: Viscount Preferred:
Victorian Romantic Mystery
(Calling All Rakes #4)
Written by: Tammy Andresen

When Eugene Fitzsimmons, the new Earl of Purlington, begins to make overtures towards his cousin Lady Priscilla Applegate she has no other choice, she needs a suitor/husband and she needs him quickly.

How does a gentile Lady of the Ton go about finding said suitor, well she puts an add in the Times! A very precise letter, a letter to attract someone who is a much better person than cousin Eugene, who we are pretty sure in not a nice person.

”Vacancy: One titled and funded Lady looking for an eligible Lord in need of a wife. Meet in Hyde Park by the entrance to the Rose Garden at noon on Tuesday, 11th of April 1834”

Enter our eligible Lord, Wyatt Highland the Viscount Ware! Ware is not your normal day-to-day Viscount; he has a mission in life, to thwart thieves and such from preying on those who cannot defend themselves. One of the first things that made me feel Ware was perfect for Priscilla was the banter/bickering that went on between himself and his Valet Ralph Fitzroy. He protects those he cares for.

An attraction begins, but there are also secrets that are being kept and cousin Eugene begins to show his nastier side. Will Wyatt and Priscilla make it to the alter or will Eugene put a hold on things?

I loved Wyatt and Priscilla, they seem made for each other. I loved the suspense and the mystery of who is the new Earl of Purlington?

Author Tammy Andresen’s Calling All Rakes series continues to give readers Lords who need a strong loving Lady’s to settle their hearts.

Growing up with comic books, I think I have a soft spot for vigilantes and scarred heroes. Wyatt is both. And Priscilla is definitely in distress, but not without a plan to save herself, though she still needs a partner to do so. Wyatt needs a marriage of convenience, solely to create an heir, but he doubts anyone would ever love a man like him, especially with his nocturnal adventures. Priscilla just needs to be protected from her odious cousin who has taken over her father's lands and title and thinks that means he gets her as well. Great story, great continuation of the series.

Great book! I really enjoyed this story. This book is about Lady Priscilla Applegate and Wyatt Highland, Viscount Ware. Priscilla needs a husband of her choosing and Wyatt needs a heir. I didn't want to put this book down. I enjoyed all the banter in the story, the secondary characters were great too!

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄

Will he find in him to let go and share his wounded soul …

I did not know to expect from this story, the premises where intriguing.
The hero, Wyatt is a broken man, more than his scarred face let’s appear. It is in the inside he is the most damaged.
If not for his half brother, he would probably turned even more reclusive than he is already.
And while he plays vigilante for the city, he also keeps everyone away from him.
Priscilla is in a hurry, it is marry a stranger or end under the joug of her late father’s heir. Why her despair and the ad she put in a newspaper.

Thus how those two met, yet each is holding back, mostly him by fear of not being enough and she because she feels he is hiding himself from her.
Yet when there is no more time left, what will they choose…
A sweet story of two lonelinesses who add up to make a whole.

I am much curious for the next book, I loved Ralph, Wyatt’s brother.

DNF at 40%

The idea to this series seems cute enough, a group of wallflowers puts an ad in the paper looking for (husbands).

“Vacancy: One titled and funded lady looking for an eligible lord in need of a wife. Meet in Hyde Park by the entrance to the rose gardens at noon on Tuesday, the 11th of April, 1837”

🥊 Wyatt Highland, ninth Viscount Ware - has a huge facial scar he got after being jumped by thugs in London. This prompted him to learn self-defense thru boxing and then go out every night to battle crime with his one-man vigilante show. He hasn’t had time to find a proper bride as he is too busy fighting crime single handedly instead of attending balls.

📰 Lady Priscilla, daughter of an Earl - after her loving father died, her nasty 5th cousin took ownership of the title and house. He is insistent that he marry Lady Priscilla (to get her dowry) and gets nastier and nastier every time she refuses. So she places an ad for a husband, to remove herself and her mother from a dangerous situation.

This had the set up to be a cute story, and it did start out interesting… but by 40% things slowed down in order to drag the plot to make it last to 150 pages.

〰️ The heroine was brave enough to place the ad for a husband, but once she met Wyatt (and they got along great) she decided to put the brakes on the whole plan and insisted they ‘get to know each other first’ before she makes a final decision. Meanwhile, her nasty cousin is getting more abusive by the second while she drags her feet. It would have been more fun to read about them getting to know each other after their rushed marriage of convenience.

〰️ The hero was off busy each night with his valet/boxing coach/bastard brother fighting crime. Not too many meaningful scenes with the hero and heroine together by this point.

〰️ Lots of typos: Lard Ware vs Lord Ware, an extra “the” here and there…

I actually wasn’t going to do a review as this story just isn’t for me, I needed more romance and MC interactions… but after seeing that 90% of the reviews are highly-rated ARC reviews, I thought I would throw in my honest non-ARC review.

WONDERFUL!!! Vacancy: Viscount Preferred by Tammy Andresen is book 4 in the Calling all Rakes series and what a terrific series this is. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read the whole series to learn who everyone is. What I really liked about this book was the horrors that Priscilla went through and how she over came them. Tammy has a real talent for story telling and this story grips you from page 1 to the very end. I found this book to be well written, it gives the real feel of the regency era, wonderful characters, original and just a treat to read. This story has a Lady that advertised in the newspaper for a husband, a Viscount that is not loved, a caring companion, training in boxing, a hero at night, an evil cousin who insist in marriage, being held prisoner, a loving mother, needing to marry to get an heir, protection, misunderstandings and falling in love. I am highly recommending you read this book.

NO RAKES INVOLVED

This story doesn’t really fit the theme of the series. Wyatt is not a rake. He is actually a hurt soul that believes he is unlovable due to his childhood. Priscilla is brave enough to place an ad for a husband, but then hesitates and takes so much time to decide while her evil cousin is getting more and more volatile and dangerous. That doesn’t even make sense. She spent too much time focusing on her father’s legacy and business instead of realizing what was really important. Luckily, her mother pointed out what was important to her. Priscilla’s friend, Charlotte, is annoying because she keeps putting her nose in her friends’ business and getting her facts wrong and making things worse before they get better.

Ultimately, they got their happily ever after, but this was probably my least favorite so far in the series. There were just so many things that were annoying and took away from the story and the characters’ likability. I may have enjoyed the brotherly relationship more than the H/h, which is why I could only give 3 stars.

To say I loved this book and I love this series would be an understatement. This is a stand-alone book, but if you have read the other books in the series, it will be a nice treat to see some of the other characters. This is about Priscilla whose cousin is bothering her to marry him. She does not want to marry him, and he is controlling her chance to meet a gentleman. So, she decides to put an ad in the paper looking for a husband. In comes Wyatt, a Viscount, who is protecting the streets at night, and not married. Wyatt is talked into meeting the lady who is looking for a husband. From there the bond they have is wonderful. I love Priscilla’s mother and the way she protects her daughter and I love Wyatt’s brother. There was only one character I did not love and that was Pricilla’s cousin. I would recommend this book to everyone.
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest opinion.

Priscilla needs a husband and quickly. What's the best way to get one? Why by placing an ad in the paper, of course.
Wyatt, Viscount Ware, needs an heir. Or so his nagging valet informs him. What better way to get wife in a hurry then by answering an ad for a husband?
Both need to be rescued from their situations, They're both hiding secrets.
Wyatt has past demons he's fighting and doesn't believe he's lovable. He is a nighttime vigilante saving defensless people and constantly putting his life in danger.
Priscilla is in a situaiton she needs to get out of quickly before it escalates. And she needs to take her loving mother with her before one or both of them gets hurt by the New Earl that is trying to take over not only the estate but Priscilla as well by insisting they marry.
This was a fun, entertaining read with great character chemistry.
I was gifted this book and this is my honest review.

I just love this author.

She brought together two people on a mission. Each very different (reasons) but very much the same. The hero is broken from past very negative, very selfish individuals and the heroine is strong but tied to societal edits.
Based on the past books in the series, you can just roll with the premise of finding love through the desperate measures of taking out an ad in the newspaper and it leading to your happily ever after. But it did and it works.
Once again, I wanted the villain to get the beat down he deserved (more than one punch… bloodthirsty me)
Anyhow~ the story is nice.
Angst - 3.4 - 4.0 a bit of violence
Romance - slow, not quite slow burn 3.5
Overall, quick read. Nice story.

"Vacancy: One titled and funded lady looking for an eligible lord in need of a wife. Meet in Hyde Park by the entrance to the rose gardens at noon on Tuesday, the 11th of April, 1837"

There, maybe that would find her someone other than Eugene, her long distant cousin who had inherited her father's title. But not his money. She had gotten the large dowry.

He needs a wife and sees the ad. How could a lady accept him though? He was scarred and had a past plus his life as a vigilante at night might not endear him to her.

Surprises in store as these two meet and the attraction cannot be denied!

One of my very favorite authors writes another addition to the amazing series that will pull you in until the last word!

Viscount Preferred.

Calling all Rakes series.

Lady Priscilla Applegate wants and needs a husband in a hurry and what better way to get one, then to advertise.

Viscount Ware suffered as a child and in his thinking he feels he will never marry, so why not answer this interesting advertisement.

Ms. Andresen takes us on a serious yet amusing game of will she or won’t she, very entertaining read, very hard to review as no matter which way you go it would be very easy to drop spoilers.

Lots of adventures in this book.

Highly recommend

vigilante hero, threatened heroine, poor communication, villain guardian

She’s smart, cunning, patient and being threatened by her guardian. He was wounded by cut purses, and trained to become a vigilante but he has secrets and difficulty sharing his feelings. Fortunately he has a half brother who is supportive and the voice of reason. This is a quick, romantic tale for a nice nights read.

I loved this book! Pricilla and her mother are saddled with an awful long lost cousin who inherited upon Pricilla’s father’s death. He basically keeps them prisoners in their own home. It drives Pricilla to extreme measures. Wyatt is the consummate soft hearted hero. A great love story with a great twist. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Lady Priscilla Applegate is up against a wall and in desperate need of a hero. Could she get a response from an ad in the paper? “Vacancy: One titled and funded lady looking for an eligible lord in need of a wife.” Imagine her surprise when a viscount shows up. Wyatt is definitely hero material, both to Priscilla and the people he saves. Well executed story with characters that will soon have your heart.

A fun and entertaining story. I love the whole placing an ad idea for this whole series and have enjoyed every book so far. A brilliant continuation to the series

This is a brilliantly written continuation to this amazing series. This is a plot that has plenty of suspense and intrigue, and gets a bit steamy towards the end. All the characters are crafted magnificently. This is a really captivating story that you will find difficult to put down once you start.

It’s been great reading my way through this series. Each book is different but exciting and enjoyable. This one was no different. Heroine advertising for a husband and hero, who has secrets, applies. Coupled with the villain who wants the heroines money. There is an interesting story. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. I’m starting on the next in the series now
