Brad, Jake, and Sam have survived the first stages of the Alien takeover, thanks to their AI system and a lot of luck, but now they must get stronger, make allies and defend their turf.
Alien elves, dwarves and orcs are fighting for control of earth's resources and if the human survivors are going to thrive in this new world they'll have to advance and level up as fast as they can.
I've read all the books up to this point and this series is making the mistake that many - even the experienced - tend to make. One level per book is slow growth. The story isn't that great, but worthy of a read in the beginning. The characters still lack depth and the slow progression and time between books makes the reader disinterested.
After 3 books, I think no more than 4 and this story should have already been told in depth. Unfortunately, even if the author takes that advice - it will be another couple of books just to do that.
Doubt its interesting enough for me to continue devoting my limited reading time to in the future.
Overall a fun read. The fights are a bit overly fantastic. Humans dropping dead left and right, but always more, yet?
Orcs are 40k orc clones. Dwarfs are Warhammer dwarfs with spaceships. I glazed over the Elf and Oberon connection, but it's a bit on the nose too. Seeders are basically Tyranids. All a bit to close to call chance. Book of gruges? Teeth for currency? Come on...
Book has a lot of fight scenes. So avoid as a bedtime story. They all last forever and roll one into the next with haste.
Enjoyable book. Good progression and fun fights. 3POVS is probably the limit not confusing but sometimes annoying when you're really getting into a character. The overall series storyline is fun and progressing. If I were to complain it would be about the Slapped in romance at the end of the book. Did not feel organic started out Good in the beginning but... Anyways I look forward to more in this series. More progression especially like the cultivators point of view. Though I am curious how we're gonna make new cultivators at this point.
Detailed melee gets old to me, but that's easily skimmed. The characters are sweet, the relationships progress. Everything is a little to simplistic--the races are rather one-size-fits-all, frex--that and the long-winded battles are why this is a 3 for me. I've about hit my limit at 3of these, at least for the time being. But these 3 were worth the money, fer sure.
This is unnecessarily long winded. A whole lot of simple editing mistakes irritating too. Just as small examples, the murder chicken was named Daphne in the last book. She's Daisy in this one. Also the sentence "these were just a reminder of a world long ago" all 3 of these books take place in less than 3 months. Really? Just so many silly things. Glad it's over. I couldn't read more of the same in a forth book.
Slightly different from other irlrpg books, not relying as much on character stats, keeps the story flowing quickly and the action grander. Each book is better than the last keeping you reading late into the night. Looking forward for the rest of the series so I can see how the story and characters grow.
I always enjoy a good underdog story, and this one does not disappoint. lots of interesting (and often very strange) characters, and great a tion scenes. A good mix of litRPG versus cultivation progression. Lots of powerful enemies and allies. Looking forward to the next installment.
I will pass these on to my grandchildren. We monitor everything these days. This series flows well and will be close to their games so they will enjoy them. The values contained will help them know that good will triumph.
Awesome story here folks. Especially if you're a big fan of seeing the earth folks finally get some of their own back against unsurmountable odds, and kicking some seriously bad critters off their planet. I'm not sure it gets a whole lot better than this. Awesome read.
