Most rockstars would be revolted if a homeless woman fainted in their arms. Dante Deity is not most rockstars.
THE ROMANCE WRITER
Shayna Gray is fleeing her past. Tragedy, infidelity, heartbreak: the midlist romance author has suffered it all. She was strong enough to run, like a spunky heroine from one of her novels, and soon she’ll be flying…just as soon as she can walk again. After walking from Portland to Sacramento, Shayna wakes up in the hospital with famous rockstar, Dante Deity offering to take her to his mansion to recuperate. Unlike her abusive ex-husband or her bullying mother, Dante is determined she succeed. As he helps her recover from her grief and get her writing back, a romance worthy of her novels blooms. But Shayna knows that they can’t have a healthy loving relationship until she learns to stand on her own.
AND THE ROCK GOD
Dante Deity is revered by everyone who knows anything about heavy metal music, and he’s respected by everyone else. Rich, handsome, and successful, he has a voice like velvet-wrapped lightning. He juggles numerous philanthropic ventures while cranking out hits. When he’s on tour, music is his life. When he’s taking a break, he’s thinking about his next tour—or working on a project that helps him forget he’s alone. When an unconscious woman falls into his arms, Dante embarks on the biggest project of his life. Saving a damsel in distress quickly becomes a secondary mission when he realizes that his heart is on the line.

"Rock God" by Brooklyn Ann
My Thoughts....
I enjoyed this series of 'Hearts of Metal book 3' of "Rock God" which featured Dante Diety and Shayna Jones [Gray]. I found this a well written story with some very interesting characters that will keep you turn the pages to see what is coming next. We will find that Dante was quite the helper and Shaya was greatly in the need of help. This was a good romance read of sweetness and oh yes, sexual moments along with the protection and assertiveness that Dante had for Shayna. It was good finally seeing Shayna standing up for herself especially with that ex husband who was a major jerk. I only wish she could have gotten a better grip on that mother of hers. If you like a story full of 'drama, angst, sweetness, passion and inspiration' with some metal musicians you have come to the right place for 'Rock God' will give it to you and so much more and at the end hopefully we will get a HEAFN.
This story had the perfect balance of sexy, sweetness and romance. The romance felt so real that I could see myself falling for a guy like Dante, regardless of his occupation. I loved that although protective and assertive he was never domineering and always kept in mind she a mind of her own ~~ Love me a man that never forgets that fact ~~ Shayna although shy by all standards, she was no meek mouse. She obviously had a troubled past but once she decided to leave that life behind she knew she could start anew. You could tell from the get go she was smarter than she even gave herself credit.
The story itself kept a very nice flow and steady peace, which was probably why the romance didn’t feel rushed. And, have I mentioned the romance? I just cannot get past how the relationship blossomed and how he handled those bumps that got in the way.
I’ve read other genres by this author and thought they were pretty good so I thought I’d give this one a try. Though part of a series it can be read as a stand alone. It was definitely worth trying and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
*** I received this book from the author at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.***
Amount of sex - 4 / 5 How explicit - 4 / 5 Romance - 5 / 5 Overall: - 5 / 5 Rock God is the third book in the Hearts of Metal series by Brooklyn Ann. I love the first two books in this series and immediately started reading Rock God as soon as I was done with book two. Brooklyn Ann weaves us another amazing story fill with drama, angst, passion, and inspiration. Her characters are so realistic and written with so much depth… it’s hard not to become emotionally attached to them all!
Rock God tells the story of Dante Deity who is one of the most respected musicians in the metal community. Dante is a hardworking man who is constantly on tour, working on an album or volunteering his time to a cause. He is the ultimate book boyfriend being so hot, caring, talented, and the list goes on and on. Shayna has been through so much pain internally and externally. The romance between Dante and Shayna is perfectly paced and I was completely enchanted with them.
I have fallen more in love with this series with each book that Brooklyn Ann writes!
Shayna is broken mentally after she finds her husband cheating on her, her son is found deceased, and the father completely devoid of being human when it comes to his son being dead. He's not there physically or emotionally to help Shayna out. He's a total asswipe. I almost feel like he should be in the book more to give the reader a better sense of satisfaction when Karma sits on his face and takes a nice big dump on him. Dante is one of those people who wants to help everyone, please everyone, tries super hard to do this, and in getting to a few people, he feels incomplete and unsuccessful because everyone wasn't please. That single person messed his day up. Bacon was burnt; entire day ruined. So when he thinks he "fixes" Shayna, but finds more about her that reveals just how broken she is, he feels failed because he tried and failed because pieces were missing. Instead of looking at a small portion of the picture that's fixed, he only looks at the whole picture. At least later on in the book and relationship, he figures out that just because the glass is cracked does not mean you have to throw out the mirror. Bonus for making their quirks real enough to relate to. But just over the top enough to feel ... well, scripted. It's there because it needs to advance the story.
I like the story .. mostly.. But I don't think I can like the characters in this one. Perhaps because society brain washes us to have the idea that an almost 40 yr old should not be dating a 20 something yr old, and perhaps because of the above assessment of the characters. It stopped bothering me so much toward the middle of the book. Love is love. Some of the story felt forced, almost like the passion of the book was lost during writing, and the words flowed out through numb and bored fingers. The number one thing that I cannot get passed, however, is the beginning of the book. If you managed to walk the 603 miles between Portland, OR, down to Sacramento, CA, the amount of blisters and damage to your feet would be immense. Described as infected blood blisters, slight nerve damage, malnutrition, and dehydration, you will be spending at least 3 days in the hospital. I.V. antibiotics, fluids, and vitamins to accommodate for the malnutrition. Not a few hours. Days.
As a side note, I would totally read the story about the nobleman turned minstrel.
I loved this book! Dante Deity is a heavy metal rock star, known for his looks, his voice and his many philanthropic ventures. Shayna Grey is trying to get away from her past, her heart and and soul have been shredded by a heartbreaking loss and she wants to leave behind her, an abusive ex husband and a bully for a mother. Shayna writes romance novels but has not been writing after her loss. She decided to walk from Portland to Sacramento to escape her past and after being attacked by some very unsavoury characters she wakes up in a hospital with rock god Dante Deity at her bedside. He offers to put her up and help her to recover in his mansion. Dante wanted to encourage Shayna to start writing again and it was nice how much he believed in her and I loved how the tension started to build up and knew that something wonderful was going to happen between them! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Dante was on his way to his tour bus with his band when he heard a woman scream. So he runs in the direction of the screams along with his band and security. He gets there in time to save a lady who’s being attacked by two guys. She was glad her rescuer arrived in time to save her, but just as she asked where the nearest homeless shelter might be, she passed out. Shayna had walked away from heartbreak in her life, she literally walked from Portland to Sacramento. Dante couldn’t bring himself to just leave her. She had horrible blisters on her feet and he needed a project. These two have lots in common and they get along well, I love these two characters. I love this story and I couldn’t put it down, I’m giving it five stars. I highly recommend it and I’d love to read about the other guys in the band.
This was a story of love and sorrow. Shayna goes for a walk to get over her loss and ends up in Sacramento where Dante saves her. He takes her on as a project but soon falls in love. This was an enjoyable read about two people learning about each other and coming to grips with their past. I am glad Dante found someone and I like Shayna. I would recommend this book and I received an arc and the views and opinions are my own.
Dante has a need to help people. Shayna needed help. Together, they are a strong couple, helping each other. I enjoyed the bonding between these two characters. The support despite misunderstandings kept me turning the pages. This is the third in the series which I have enjoyed reading, and I look forward to more.
I received a copy of this story, and this is my unsolicited opinion.
Another Great Story in this wonderful Rock Series! I loved the relationship that developed between Dante and Shayna. I especially love it when a man steps up and Protects the woman he loves. I feel that this was a story that touched my heart and I Loved It!!!
I received an ARC from BookSirens and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review because I Choose and loved the happy ending!!!
Dante and Shayna’s story is unique. I loved how they both are successful it she is struggling in her personal life and Dante steps in to lend a hand. Little did he know love would follow.
Great story hit all the buttons. The characters were fun to get to know. Where I thought oh oh now its gonna get bad ,surprise, not the way I thought. Great read now on to the next one.
Metal rock star Dante Deity's life is turned upside down when he rescues a ragged, exhausted young woman from a mugging. He takes in this lost stray of a female and discovers she's not exactly what she first appeared to be. A satisfying romance about two people from different worlds. I read this ebook through Kindle Unlimited.
I absolutely loved the premise of this story. Rock God rescues Romance Writer. Dante is absolutely hero material and Shayna is his perfect HEA. With so many supporting characters and bands, I look forward to more from Brooklyn Ann.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Death of a baby boy: Check Cheating husband: Check Lost that confident voice: Check Rescued by a rock legend: NO! Found a Happily Ever After: Still waiting....
Rock God is my favorite in the Hearts of Metal series. I identified (maybe too much) with the lead female Shayna. Coming off a tragedy and a bad marriage, she walks and walks and walks, until she is physically in need of a rescue. Her personal hero happens to be rock star Dante Diety who quickly claims her as his next project. Shayna is no stray cat though and it's not long before Dante is under her spell. However, this isn't one of the romance novels Shayna writes. Dante is a rock legend with a demanding music career. He doesn't believe that he can have a successful relationship and Shayna lacks the confidence to tell him what she wants. Yet it's easy to see how good they are together.
I loved this story. Dante and Shayna are both well developed characters; their connection believable. I loved how they gradually opened up around each other, sharing and merging their worlds. I loved Shayna's fight towards becoming a confident, whole woman again and how she brought out Dante's softer side. And finally, I loved that once again the other metal bands fit into the story so that all of the bands and characters are so interwoven. The intimate friendships between the bands gives each story more depth. I'm looking forward to the next book, reading Chrissy's story, and seeing what's next for everyone.
Love this series. I especially like how Brooklyn has incorporated characters from her Brides of Prophecy series into her Hearts of Metal series.
Rock God is my favorite so far in the Hearts of Metal series. Shayna's ex is a major jerk, but when she meets Dante thinks turn for the better. That ex should be taken out and horse-whipped, but what Shayna manages to do the jerk makes it worth while. This is one series I hope everyone takes the time to read. I can't wait to see what Brooklyn comes up with to top this one.
his story has the right mix of sex, sweet and romance. I fell in love with the characters from the very first page. This is a fast paced story which flows really well. This author just keeps getting better and better the more I read. This author has a fab way of bringing you everything you need in a fab way. I cant wait for more in this series and by this author in the future.
Another great book in the hearts of metal series. This book had fantastic and well developed characters, a cracking storyline, a chance to catch up with previous characters and some interesting develops for what is to come. Thoroughly enjoyed the style of writing and looking forward to reading the next book
The story was great, the writing is excellent and fast paced and had great flow. Loved the characters and having the characters from the other books in the series was awesome! I'm hoping for another one!
Rock God draws you into a story of a tortured, grieving young woman and a musician who is compelled to help those who need it most. It was a beautiful love story, light on the rock aspect and more on healing and romance that this particular couple needs.
