It took me a minute to get into No Longer Afraid. I had to get through more than half of the book before I actually started to enjoy it. But, once it started poppin', it snatched my attention expeditiously. The storyline, along with Tati and Onyx's relationship, is a slow burn which, I'm not a fan of. Onyx is the newest member of The Predators. Blue brought him in to help him find out who murdered the OGs who also happens to be Tati and Blue's dads. Tati takes an instant dislike to Onyx. That's probably because she was instantly attracted to him as well but, her situationship with Kev is a complication that ends up being hugely problematic. While she's still that bytch, I love that we get to see a more vulnerable side to Tati than when we first met her in Maybe One More Time. It shows us there's was more to her than being a hardcore biker chic. Just when we thought we were done with the roses and thorns, here comes Onyx with that damn thorn tattoo prominently displayed on his sexy azz bicep. And, where there are thorns, there's surely to be some roses not far behind. Is Margeaux an enemy or an ally? Of course, Ace had to make an appearance. Y'all know she's going to be all up in the mix if there are roses and thorns involved. The cliffhanger wasn't really a surprise but, I had something completely different in mind. Pretty sure that'll happen in the next book. No Longer Afraid was filled with plenty of action, suspense, and unexpected secrets. I can't wait to see how this all plays out in book two.

I took me a while to get into this. I did like Nyx in the beginning but not Tati. But once I got to see her vulnerable side and got to understanding her, i really did enjoy it.

As soon as I had it in my greedy little hands I knew I wasn't going to sleep tonight. I loved this very very much. Tati and Onyx have such wonderful banter, and the world building in this was phenomenal.
My favorite part, and as with most of Christina's books is that there is always nuggets of therapy in there. And I just wish that I had this kind of perspective when I was dealing with things. But it's never framed as preachy, just these nuggets of information or perspective that have you thinking "yeah!!! That's right!!"

4 stars. Oof. How did I not know this ended in a cliffhanger??? This was so good (I mean…it’s CCJ so…obviously…) but I did want more of the relationship/romance and a bit less of the suspense/drama/business with the MC. (TW: SA)

This was an absolute intriguing story...I was totally captivated by this story and I can't wait for book 2....I loved Onyx's steadfast confidence and Tati's strength....This book is definitely a slow burn...but, there's layers to peel back in order to understand the story....This motorcycle club has some connection to Roses and Thorns and we get to see this story unfold in order to understand the connection. I also love that we get an update on some of our favorite Las Vegas characters....I'm eagerly awaiting book 2....Wesleigh & Winston did an amazing job unfolding this story for us.

I will admit, I was carrying some biases with me. I have read about 10 of her books/novellas at this point, and I wasn't too sure I would like this series. Biker gangs, assassins, trigger warnings? Generally, I would stray away just because I usually find those stories too over exaggerated, but I loved this story.
An engaging story that ends with a cliff hanger, so per usual, I feel obliged to start part 2 immediately.

(🎧)This book is amazing! I loved catching up with the original crew. my introduction to Christina C Jones and Wesleigh Siobhan was the High Stakes Series so that crew has a very special place in my heart. and Vegas nights!!!! let's just say Blue was everything to me and then I met Onyx!!! whew! This one booked pack so much testosterone, BDE, suspense, romance, savagery, loyalty, and finally betrayal. I really loved all the characters except a few that will remain nameless. I can't wait to read part 2! wonderful performance by Wesleigh and Winston!

So this was a book of firsts for me. It was my first Christina C. Jones novel, my first motorcycle club book, and probably my first time reading a book ending on a cliffhanger where I actually want to know what happens. Lol. The high rating came just from that last one.
Tati and Nyx are star crossed in the best way. Both of them have something the other needs, and both of them know that the "right" thing to do is resist. Nyx has a past he's been trying to escape, that's running up to catch him fast and Tati knows his past is the reason she can't trust him, even though to fight her present battles and avenge her past that's exactly what she'll have to do. It's so tense and full of the best kind of angst. They're also passionate and the chemistry adds to the tug of war they face. Fighting both external enemies and internal attraction gives them a push/ pull that's satisfying to read.
The writing itself is pretty terrific. The characters are layered, complementing each other instead of just being thrown together. Blue and Tati have a natural ease and funny antagonism that makes me miss my own brothers. Tati's toughness and shrewdness is only enhanced by the softness she shows. Nyx has just enough of a tortured soul for you to be afraid for him, and of him. It all weaves together so well.
The Predators have to extend their loyalties to root out a common enemy and the journey to what lies in wait is compelling and dangerous. I loved it. It was a great book.

Well the cliffhanger wasn’t what I thought it would be. This book doesn’t read well as a stand-alone, you need to have read a few of her other titles first, including Ante Up, and Maybe One More Time. This is the first book in a duet and does end on a cliffhanger. CW for sexual assault, not on page.

The Garden that's hard to kill!!!!! CCJ knows how to draw you in and spin the narrative. These Vegas stories stay full of action and suspense. Tati and Blue have big shoes to fill. New leadership in recovery mode is a major task. Who's the enemy is a riddle that must be solved. Just as we think we are getting some answers....the end!!!!!! Wwwwhhhhatttt!!!! Great set up... I'm running to book two!

That dog gone CCJ! No Longer Afraid takes place in Vegas and is another excellent spin off of the High Stakes series. Predators MC Vice President Tati Tate is a bad B. She was born into the club and this position. This book includes Several characters from High Stakes, so the drama continues. This book starts off a little slow but like its origin series, it made me emotional, made me laugh and made me audibly gasp. It’s a good read! The only issue is that it ends in a cliffhanger.

Loved this story. Intriguing MC politics and history to lay the groundwork so it starts slow but good. I love the Roses/Thorn connections. Things get gritty about halfway or so and its full speed ahead.
On page trigger warning had to come back to finish. Tati and Onyx energy is awesome. The respect, communication and chemistry is everything I love.

I feel like this book was so drawn out, and then to end on a cliffhanger really irritated me. I’m guessing that the next book is going to be the ending, but I do like that. All of the series are tied together with the characters.

Another CCJ banger! I don't have much to say about NLA besides the fact that its goddamned good - as is expected from CCJ. Nyx and Tati push all the right buttons when it comes to chemistry, tension, and energy. I'm enjoying getting to see some old faces and meeting new ones. All around A+'s over here!

I wanted so badly for this to be a higher rated read but I just couldn't do it.
Listening to this on audio was a wonderful experience. I really felt like Tati and Nyx were brought to life and I loved it. It made me smile and even blush.
But then Tati was hurt. And I was blindsided. Nothing I read before diving into this prepared me for that. It's incredibly triggering although it's not graphic. And the assault became a plot progression device for Tati and Nyx and I hated it even more. I almost didn't finish it. I really wish there was a content warning.
Outside of that, this was so entertaining. I really had a good time with this story before Tati got hurt. After that, I just couldn't enjoy it as much. I really need my head to be in the right place for something like that and it wasn't.
I want to know what happens next so I'll continue but I'm less invested now. The cliffhanger is enough to make me want just a little bit more though. I hope book 2 redeems this story because it makes me sad to dislike this so heavily because I really love CCJ.
*Even though this is a standalone duet, it's probably best to start with Ante Up. There's so much background information that you need to really understand the background conflict brewing.*

The story was a heck of a ride. The Predators got a new member to add to Blue and Tati's menacing messengers. The crew got a superpower named Onyx. He exuded darkness, prowess, and a profound need to irk Tati. The bantering between Blue and Tati was comical. The topper was Blue and Tati's relationship. The dark parts of the story were handled well for the subject matter.....When the story shifted back to the romantic side, it was a perfect time, based on the content. The cliffhanger ending will surely be a lip pitcher, but I will be back to see what happens next. Will Alicia have to pull out the big guns once again? Whew!

This story has kept with energy of CCJs Vegas stories from the very beginning! Filled with action, twists & turns, suspense, and bad boy/girl vibes! I love the build up of this story and the incorporation of genuine family even without the bloodline. All the connections to past book faves is always exciting. Tati showed us a lil more vulnerability in this story than in earlier reads & it was so welcomed. Meeting another thorn that gets a chance at living and thriving in happiness is always thrilling to witness. I'm so excited about book 2! Another successful release by CCJ!
