Not much here. A little bit autobiography a little bit marketing 101. This is that sort of book that is meant to bring even more authority to an already successful business owner. Which I respect from a marketer/business owner perspective. Unfortunately, the book will miss the mark for any business owner or marketer looking to improve their current marketing methods.

I will say my favorite part of the book was on the second to last page where Erik warns you to beware or be disciplined chasing shiny objects in the marketing world.

If you work in marketing, don’t bother with this book. It teaches you nothing you don’t already know, and at this point, most of the information is dated.

Review by Blackbird (Current Inmate)

Inmates that want to start their own business when leaving prison will find this book helpful in marketing a new company.

For many inmates, finding consistent work once they leave jail is one of the biggest challenges. Often people with criminal records will have a difficult time finding employment. Others might not be able to return to a career they once knew. I know for myself once I leave jail, I will have to start over in a new career. For these reasons, self-employment or starting a company is possibly a great option for inmates and their families. This book is all about helping someone new to entrepreneurship find the best marketing strategies to get your company known and successful.

Written by Erik Huberman, the CEO of Hawke Media, a highly successful marketing company with millions o dollars in annual sales, this book provides the readers an easy step-by-step path to getting a company the exposure it needs. Building hi s marketing strategies for a business on three pillars of awareness, nurturing, and trust, Huberman works on how to apply them to your own company no matter its size. The book teaches the new entrepreneurs how to get their company known and create sales online or in older traditional ways. No matter the type of business, you are thinking of starting this funny easy-to-read book offers a lot of great information about the ‘do’s and don’ts’ to help create a strong company. This is a book that as a business owner, you would want to pick up and read over and over again to solve a variety of questions that might come up.

The idea of starting over and trying to earn a living is scary to so many people leaving jails or prisons. We have families that want to support us and we want to support them. The fear of being told you will never be hired by certain companies that pay good working wages is very real. Starting you won business and being successful is a possibility if it is done with god starting foundation. This book helps build that foundation of strong ideas before you start.

It’s ok .. I read this book as a few people told me how amazing it was - and yes it’s good .. amazing I’m not too sure :)

The books focuses on the 3 key steps the author engaged to build a successful agency and then used those steps to support his clients. The challenge is that the book didn’t really hold any credibility, as testimonials weren’t shared by the clients themselves.

In a world where everybody is busy telling us “how to make it” this feels no different. Anybody can create success, a framework can indeed be followed, but it’s the purpose of the action, mindset, quality of your team, how you spend your time etc .. all determines how you execute said framework .. the book doesn’t really suggest that ..

If you are looking for different business models or case studies, it’s a decent read - hence the 3 stars.

This book was helpful for me, an entrepreneur. I have started businesses in the past and while reading this book I was able to assess and identify a few suggestions Erik has given that absolutely would've maximized my marketing budget further than previous. I look forward to implementing the information I needed and will make note of this book when speaking with entrepreneurs in a similar phase.

The chapter written on vacation was cool.

Erik Huberman nails the target with The Hawke Method. Simple yet effective strategy for marketers of all sizes and most Importantly the lessons are actionable and can be taken immediately. Tons of business books bury the true value under fluff but Huberman gets right to the heart of the matter early on and the knowledge bombs keep on coming.

Just another run-of-the-mill marketing 101. The three principles are standard customer acquisition phases and nothing unique to the method Erik exclaims.

Read a few practical marketing books. This isn't one of them.

I tried to like it as I pushed my way through, but it was filled with literally nothing. But he sure does love to talk about himself. It's possibly the worst marketing book I've read in recent years.

Bland in all aspects, outdated and can be easily squeezed into a podcast.

I've read a few reviews stating how much the book is like an autobiography, marketing 101, etc. Basically, no value. However, the 3 principles he builds his method on, which are very obvious and straightforward, are still ignored by many. I saw it as a book that served as a reminder of how everything plays together and the author gives enough "first rung of the ladder" advice for you to follow up on. Sometimes I feel people read books expecting them just to spoon-feed everything. It's a good book to read, has a few good examples and shorter case studies, and honestly isn't a bad reference to have your marketing team look at every now and then. And if you're worried that it's just a marketing tool for his business, well, then you just experienced a live example of how it's done.

I found the book to be extremely useful and packed with examples and even resources. As of note, it’s probably the best marketing book I’ve ever read.
