Yes, self-worth is something you can learn and practice! The Worthy Project tells you how. Take a step back and think about how satisfied you are with your life. Is your home too cluttered? Do you have trouble saving money? Do you feel like your friends and family take more of your energy than they give back? We all have an area (or two!) in our lives that we're not quite satisfied with―and often those trouble spots stem from one simple a lack of self-worth. Worthiness is the quality of deserving attention, energy, and respect. It's not confidence. It's not bravado. You can't fake worthiness, nor can you accidentally end up with it. But what does it actually mean to cultivate self-worth, and how do you do it? The Worthy Project guides you through a practical, six-week personal discovery program that helps you identify where feelings of unworthiness might manifest in your life, complete with exercises, journal prompts, and personal stories from real women. Internationally recognized personal development teacher Meadow DeVor explains the importance of self-care, setting boundaries, and defining your priorities in your self-worth journey. It's time to let go of the self-doubt that is holding you back in order to unleash your true potential!
I found this read to be a necessity. Not only does it show you how to truly value yourself as human being, but also looks at why aspects of your life become a mess due to undervaluing yourself. I know other reviews complained about this approach being "tough" and pretty blunt, however, I think this is necessity as a wake up call to yourself to overcome this issue. Such a great read that helped me improve my self worth and even had activities along the way to better my home and surroundings to help me see my value more. Great read for those into self-help journeys!
This ARC was given to me by NetGalley and the publishers to read and review. All the statements above are my own opinions after reading this book fully.
AMAZING BOOK. Talks about the worthy cycle and how positive thoughts feed positive actions versus the unworthy cycle where negative thoughts lead to more negative actions. Breaks down certain situations and characteristics and how each person in each cycle would react with emphasis on what the healthy reaction would be. Great read.
I love the Worthy Project which is awesome as I find self help and inspirational books either hit the mark with me or they have zero value. There’s no middle ground, and if they don’t keep me thinking when I’ve put the book down, then I consider them to be a pointless read. That is not the case with this book. The worthy project was insightful, full of helpful tips and explanations for behavior. It felt like this book was written just for me, but I’m a sharer, so I’d recommend you grab a copy too!
I was excited to read this book but it didn't meet my expectations. I liked hearing the personal stories of her clients but didn't relate to the author's struggles such as buying a designer dress when she was broke. She also had many examples that only related to parents which weren't expected considering the book cover never hinted that this book was made for moms. I did find some of the exercises helpful but it wouldn't be my first choice in the "self-worth" category.
Phew, definitely recommend this book! It's highly insightful and I loved the very structured and organized activities in it to complete. Apparently this is meant to be a 6 week workshop but I completed it in 2 because I was so overeager. ;-) I'm looking forward to going back through my notes and reflecting on actions I can take. <3
A great reminder that you don't have to apologize for who you are and what you do. Finished this book yesterday and loved the way it was completed, reminding you that you also don't have to pay people back with your worth. It's okay that you receive someone's time, a compliment, any gesture, and not have to "pay" someone back.
I purchased the book after listening to audiobook as a way to have written information available. I really like the author and for me the audiobook was more impactful way to go through the information. This is one that I will go back to and interested in her other titles now.
