Each book in this series
It's time to change the world! Inspire others to make a difference today!
A mix of stories about kids and young teens from the United States (mostly) and around the world. Each has done something that could make a difference in the world and could inspire others (both young and old) to do something. For me, the most inspiring ones were the ones about Bishop who is working to market a device called Oasis that could save babies who are left in hot cars and Winter who created a prayer blanket for others who were in a situation similar to her own (); thenn grew into a social media project that promotes the power of prayer. Wouldn't it be fun to see what all these children and young adults are doing ten years from now? How will they continue to change the world for the better? Give this one to anyone who is looking for inspiring stories to share with their children or students. Or who are hoping to inspire others to make a difference.
Every once in a while you hear about a child making a difference. It’s easy to think of that one child being an outlier, a protege unlike other children. But what Stacy Bauer has done here- compiling so many of them together in one place- it paints a different picture. When read together, diverse collage of young hope-bringers show young readers that anyone can be a change maker, regardless of their location, race, age or ability. Changing the world is not an unattainable goal! By the time you are done reading this book, you’ll not only feel inspired, you’ll have a long roster of clear steps you can take to help make the world a better place. This book is an obvious choice for a classroom, but don’t discount its value for adults as well. Children are not the only ones who need to listen to the powerful voices of the next generation.
This is a very well written book about 12 different children from different backgrounds who have an idea and successfully put their idea into action. The true stories are inspiring. The cover of the book is an illustration of several children showing projects that they are passionate about. Based on the cover, I expected a plain and simple picture book for young children. It is not. To start with it is non-fiction. The text is geared towards children 8-12 yrs old. Each child is introduced with an explanation of the child’s background and what led to their specific passion. The text then elaborates on how each child took an idea and did something about it. There is a lot of text on each page, which is nicely enhanced by simple and striking illustrations.
I downloaded the book as a Prime choice. I am impressed. It is a book I would recommend for elementary age children, their parents, or teachers. I read it start to finish in the same evening, because I expected it to be quick and easy reading. I think it would be more meaningful to read one chapter at a time, because there is a lot of content packed into each story.
I love this book!! It was clear that the author carefully selected each and every organization/changemaker in this book, and there is definitely a lot of uniqueness here. Additionally, no two chapters were the same, and they weren't even similar. There was pretty much zero repetition in this book, which is always a plus. Another great thing about this book was the structure of every chapter. There was repetition there, but it worked! What I mean by this is that every chapter was laid out the same way, creating a clear pattern and theme for readers to latch onto and follow as they read. Speaking of structure, including advice, tips, and resources for readers to get involved in their own communities was such a clever idea, and increases the impact of this book. I have no doubt that this book will inspire so many readers and create a chain reaction of change in youth around the world. Bravo!!! One tiny critique: In subsequent books from this series, I would like to see some more geographical diversity. In this book, most kids were from Texas or the US, with only two kids from other countries. This was fine for this one book, but should be changed slightly in other books.
The Young Change Makers Series should be part of every home and school library! This inspirational series highlights true stories of extraordinary kids making a difference in the world.
These books inspire young readers to make an impact themselves as they read about these role models and observe their kindness, compassion, bravery, resilience and accomplishments.
When kids help others and create and work toward positive goals, their self-confidence ignites — this series will spark the flame that exists within every child to make a difference.
Read this awe-inspiring book about ordinary but passionate children from around the world who devote their time and energy to follow their dreams and make a difference, and buy copies to share with others. This well-written and beautifully illustrated book shows that you are never too young to make an impact on your environment, community, and the world!
