Daughters of the Rebellion Trilogy #1
The Trouble With Tea
"The Trouble With Tea" is a book that deserves nothing but praise. A tale depicting the events leading up to the Boston Tea Party and the start of the Revolutionary War as seen through a young colonial girl's eyes, this work has a well-developed and well-presented plot with characters that are enjoyable and engaging. Sure to enthrall young minds and pull them right into 1773 Boston, every young girl who reads this book will long for the dresses described so beautifully, and the boys will wish they could have witnessed, or even participated in, the Indian raid on the tea. With historic endnotes that include England's retaliation to the Boston Tea Party, "The Trouble With Tea" will stimulate young minds and encourage their curiosity about the Boston Tea Party, the Revolutionary War, and the people and events that shaped our nation. It is a story that interweaves historical fact with a coming of age story so creatively, the reader truly is transported in time and has no desire to return to the present at the end. But when they do, they will return not only thoroughly entertained, but with an education and pride in how this country began, as well as the people responsible for its founding.

Will Friedle mentioned his mom’s series on Pod Meets World and being a historical fiction fan I had to check it out. I enjoyed it. A middle grade read focused on two girls in the Boston during the time of the Tea Party. I’m curious how the series plays out.

Fun juvenile historical fiction
I started this book because one of the authors sons, Will Friedle, brought it up in one of his podcasts. It's very clear both members of the family are entertainers but in different mediums. I ended up really enjoying this book

Although geared to grades 5-8, I was charmed by this book, (says something about my reading level!). The heroine, Patience Burgess, is a delight. Here's a review on Amazon:
The Trouble with Tea is an amazing book. I could not put it down! The book tells the story of Patience and Anne, two friends with different political beliefs. It also gives very interesting facts about the Boston Tea Party and the events that led up to the Revolutionary War. Full with love, romance and adventure everyone should read this book!
There were some loose ends in the ending. Perhaps they are all addressed in the sequel "Path to Punishment". The description of that book says it focuses on Patience's friend Anne Wentworth. Hmmm, not thrilled by that.
I read this book via a free Kindle app. Thank you to Austen Author Maria Grace for posting free Kindle books. She is taking some time off for some family issues but I hope she can post again soon.

I really enjoyed this book. I never thought much about the Boston Tea party before. History is not usually my thing. This fiction actually made historical events seem interesting. The stories of young romance, friendships, political and governmental topics, suspense all came together seamlessly. It was amazing.
